Big-hearted Scotland star spends day delivering beds for poverty charity as he admits it’s a ‘very humbling experience’

STEVE CLARKE recently announced his Scotland squad for a Greece double-header.

And one name selected to play a part in the National Team‘s Nations League Play-Off tie has revealed the ‘very humbling experience’ he had with a child bed poverty charity.

Taking to social media, Middlesbrough striker Tommy Conway shared a video in which he spent a day delivering beds to less-fortunate children with the organisation Zarach.

He wrote: “Until last month, naively, I didn’t realise that almost 900,000 children were facing bed poverty.

“I’m so grateful to @ZarachCharity for letting me spend a day with them, delivering bed bundles.

“A very humbling experience.”

Conway said it ‘put a smile on his face’ as he performed the charitable act in the Hartlepool area and chatted with the youngsters whom he was delivering packages to.

The 22-year-old added: “[It] puts everything in your life into perspective.

“Problems that you think you have in your life are nothing compared to what these guys problems are.”

Fans of Boro and others up and down the country took to the replies to express their gratitude for Conway’s charitable deed.

One wrote: “He’s just great isn’t he, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a boro player as much as him, as both player and person, in a long time.”

Another said: “Top class work from a top class human,” and one added: “He’s too much of a lovable guy, I hope he never leaves.”

The love-in from Middlesbrough supporters is clear, as another wrote: “Well done TC good to see a young talent realise how important it is life that kids need the basics, a bed to sleep on.

“Let’s all remember that when we bed down every night.”

Conway has scored 11 goals in 28 appearances since joining Michael Carrick‘s side in the summer, and he’ll be hoping to add to his two competitive senior Scotland appearances later this month.

He was an unused substitute during the Euros in Germany, but featured against Croatia and Portugal in the Nations League group.
