‘Beautiful girl inside & out’ – Family of teen girl, 16, hit by car confirm funeral details & share ‘pink’ outfit plea

THE heartbroken family of a “deeply loved” 16-year-old teenager who died in a tragic accident in Co Down have confirmed her funeral details.

Jaidyn Rice, from the local area, died after she was hit by a car on the West Circular Road in Bangor.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland officers and other members of the emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision at around 10.55pm on Tuesday, July 8.

Tragically, Jaidyn was pronounced dead at the scene.

A notice online described her as “cherished and deeply loved daughter” of Elaine Clarke and Stephen.

It reads: “Rice, Jaidyn passed away suddenly as the result of a tragic accident on 8th July 2025.”

Jaidyn’s family have confirmed the young woman’s funeral mass will take place in St Andrew’s Church on Tuesday, July 22 at 1pm.

A burial will follow afterwards at Clandeboye Cemetery at 3pm.

The family has asked all mourners attending the funeral to wear “something pink” as it is Jaidyn’s favourite colour.

Tributes have been pouring in for the tragic teen, who was a student at Priory Integrated College in Holywood, since she passed away earlier this week.

In a post on social media, management at her school said: “Since the tragic loss of our cherished Year 12 student, Jaidyn Rice, our school community has been filled with sorrow and reflection.

“Jaidyn brought light, laughter and kindness into the lives of everyone who knew her.

“She was full of potential, eagerly anticipating her GCSE results, and had a bright future ahead.

“Her fun-loving spirit and warm heart left a lasting mark on our school.

“She will always be remembered with love and admiration. Our thoughts remain with her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her. Rest in peace, Jaidyn.”

‘HEARTBROKEN’

Alliance Party Councillor Gillan McCollum said: “Jaidyn was a cherished North Down Community Network – NDCN DICE leader and made an enormous impact in her local community in her short and precious life.

“I am heartbroken for her family and friends, for the Clandeboye community and most of all for Jaidyn, who had a whole beautiful life ahead of her.”

One mourner wrote: “Such a beautiful, funny person. Definitely leaving a gigantic chasm in our friendship group.”

A close friend added: “My best friend always. She is so loved and will be missed by everyone.”

A classmate said: “Beautiful girl inside and out. We’ll all miss you always and forever baby.”
