The baffling mistake that means smirking Love Island loser Jack Fincham will end up with blood on his hands… again

LOVE Island loser Jack Fincham being sent to prison was clearly the correct decision.

Unfortunately it’s the one lone right in a baffling series of wrongs when it comes to this ticking timebomb of situation.

He smirked after being released on bail while he appeals the sentence[/caption]

Fincham’s Cane Corso dog Elvis has attacked two innocent people. It’s obvious that his owner cannot control him, but the dog hasn’t been euthanised, or even rehomed with someone more capable of ensuring he behaves.

Instead, Jack and his dog are still together, as though nothing ever happened.

This is an insane move destined to end only one way – in tragedy.

We’ve all seen blokes like Fincham – who has been released on bail while he appeals the sentence – strutting down the street, terrorising communities with their supposed status symbol dogs.

Playing the big man, overcompensating for everyone knows what, in a way that’s less expensive than a red sports car but just as much of a pathetic cliché.

XL Bully dogs were banned in England and Wales in late 2023 after the breed had been found to have been “disproportionately involved” in deaths recorded since 2021.

Sometimes the dogs killed their owners, like David Daintree, in August last year and Angeline Mahal, in May.

Or they went for strangers, like Nicholas Glass, 33, who died after being attacked by four dogs, two of which were XL Bullies.

Most heartbreakingly of all, children including 10-year-olds Savannah Bentham and Jack Lis, and 17-month-old baby Bella-Rae Birch had their young lives ended by these dogs.

But a disastrous side effect of this ban is that it’s led to new breeds replacing XL Bullies – and these unknown quantities are currently unregulated.

Devil dogs

Slowly but surely, we’re hearing of attacks involving Cane Corsos.

Last October a Sheffield man suffered deep cuts and puncture wounds across his body after being mauled by two, with a 14-year-old girl who intervened also left injured.

A woman in South Yorkshire needed plastic surgery because her Cane Corso bit her so badly.

Easy to laugh at his arrogant stupidity, but Jack’s not just dumb, he’s dangerous

Jack Fincham’s dog, his “best pal”, attacked a runner in 2022.

The victim was at first willing to accept an apology and a caution.

Fincham had to take a dog ownership course and agree to stipulations including ensuring Elvis would wear a muzzle in public.

Magistrates knew he hadn’t kept to this because Fincham posted photos on social media showing the dog in a pub muzzle free.

Arrogant stupidity

It is easy to laugh at his arrogant stupidity, but Jack’s not just dumb, he’s dangerous.

As he was led away from court, his on-off girlfriend, TOWIE’s Chloe Brockett, broke down in tears.

Hard not to find them hollow when compared to the pain and devastation her irresponsible boyfriend looks likely to cause in the future, by insisting on keeping this unsafe animal.

Six weeks in a cell, with nothing to do but think, might have done him a favour, made him realise he still has time to do the right thing before it’s too late.

If he doesn’t, the awful truth is that it seems certain Jack Fincham will end up with blood on his hands.

Love Island fans can’t believe age gap between Elma and Sammy as they cosy up in hideaway

LOVE Island fans say they can’t believe the age gap between Elma Pazar and Sammy Root, after they were seen getting cosy in hideaway.

Sammy and Elma already have a past after they met on the Towie circuit, and were seen reuniting on last night’s All Stars.

The pair were rumoured to be dating in 2023, shortly before it was announced he was joining the cast of Towie.

Last night, Sammy picked Elma to join him in the hideaway, as he made his entrance as the latest bombshell.

The pair were thrilled to see each other and wasted no time in catching up.

They were seen looking smitten with each other, as they sat on the bed together.

However, fans were quick to pick up on the age gap between the pair.

At 32, Elma is nine years older than 23-year-old Sammy.

Taking to X/Twitter, one fan said: “i think sammy and elma could be really sweet together, but it’s just the age gap. the man was 17 when she was first on love island I can’t!”

While another added: “Isn’t Elma and Sammy age gap near 10 years? I guess age gaps don’t bother her too much.”

This one chimed in: “I’ve seen a lot of people say sammy and elma because they were on towie together?

“Mind you, he was 17 when elma first went on love island. we need an age restriction of like 25 because that’s insane.”

Meanwhile, before going into the villa, Sammy hinted that a romance with Elma was on the cards.

It came about after he was asked how he felt about seeing some familiar faces.

He replied: “For the people I have met before, I’m excited to see them again, but who knows – it could be fun or it might be awkward.”

Sammy, who split from Jess Harding just three months after they won the 2023 series, revealed what he is now looking for.

He said: “Previously I put a lot on looks whereas now I think it’s more important to focus on personality.

“I just want someone that’s outgoing, adventurous, happy and just a jolly person that I can have fun with.”

Speaking about his biggest red flags, Sammy said: “I’m not a fan of uptight people, I want someone who doesn’t care about what others think and just wants to have fun.”

ITV2 bosses put Sammy in the villa at just the right time for him to rekindle early flames with Elma.

A source said: “Elma has said the attraction with Sammy was nothing more than flirtation as she’s conscious they have an age gap of nearly 10 years, but Love Island execs hope under the South African sun, love could bloom.

“Sammy is pals with a few of the lads too including Casey and Ron so will slot right in.

“He’s All Stars’ second winner too, joining Ekin in that accolade.”.

Love Island All Stars continues at 9pm on ITV2.

My wife made her own clever clothes rail gadget that takes up NO space & didn’t cost us a penny – it’s easy if with kids

WHETHER you have a small home or can’t use your garden due to the Baltic weather, no one likes the sight of their washing on display.

But one cleaning enthusiast has just the trick, and it means that no space will be taken up when hanging your clothes.

The woman, who is known as ‘thesimpsonthree’ on TikTok, shared a video on her social media page, and people are loving it.

She explained that her wife invented the “natty little gadget” which hangs just above her banister.

The cleaning fan explained: “So she took the side of a cot and put it over the bannister in that bit of stairs that no one uses.

“And then, voilà! It is an indoor clothes rail.

“We use it literally all the time throughout winter.

“We haven’t got those annoying clothes horses.”

“We can use this. It’s fantastic.”

The TikToker created the device by using the side of a baby cot, which has wooden bed guards to prevent the child from getting out.

She then balanced it across the bannister so it is out of the way but allows you to hang clothes from it.

Her video gained a lot of attention with many people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Simple but effective.”

A second commented: “That’s great and the house will smell nice too.”

Adding more to the idea, a third suggested: “Mum done that, and put a pulley system so we can get it low enough to hang sheets.

“Then pull [we] it up so it’s put [out] the way so you can get down the stairs.”

Another simply praised the idea and said: “Genius.”

More winter laundry tips

Tackling laundry in the winter can be a challenge, but these handy tips can help you stay on top of it:

  • Use a Dehumidifier: Place a dehumidifier in your drying area to speed up the drying process and prevent dampness.
  • Spin Cycle Boost: Run an extra spin cycle on your washing machine to remove excess water from clothes, reducing drying time.
  • Indoor Drying Rack: Invest in a good-quality indoor drying rack and position it near a radiator or in a well-ventilated room.
  • Tumble Dryer Balls: Add tumble dryer balls to your dryer to help clothes dry faster and reduce static cling.
  • Space-Saving Hangers: Use space-saving hangers or a retractable washing line to maximise indoor drying space.
  • Microfibre Towels: Lay microfibre towels over your drying rack to absorb extra moisture from hanging clothes.
  • Partially Dry Outside: On dry days, hang clothes outside for a short period before bringing them in to finish drying.

These hacks can help you keep your laundry routine efficient and your clothes fresh, even during the colder months.

‘Do not open door’ garda warning over ‘tarmac scam’ involving people dressing up to target elderly & vulnerable people

GARDAI have issued a stark warning over a man or men “claiming to be a builder” and turning up at the doors of unsuspecting victims.

Homeowners have been urged to be wary of the “tarmac scam”, which sees men going door-to-door claiming to be a builder and offering cheap work the person who opens the door to their knock.

They are calling to homes and telling residents that they have leftover tarmac and will then offer to carry out work on the driveway or surrounding area at a discount.

Gardai say they are mostly targeting elderly or more vulnerable residents, with most reports occurring in Donegal.

The men will take the money and then fill in any holes in the ground with gravel chippings covered with engine oil, or other materials that won’t last.

Gardai warned: “A man or men typically go door-to-door, claiming to be a builder/s working on a contract who have some leftover tarmac and offering to conduct work on a driveway or surroundings of a building at a low cost.

“The material then used is often gravel chippings covered with engine oil or not the right depth and type of materials to form a lasting road surface.

“These conmen may target elderly, vulnerable residents or businesses and claim to be official contractors working on roadworks to add credibility.”

While doing the work, these men have been reported to increase the cost.

They claim that the job has required more material than initially expected and often move on to issuing threats to the homeowners.

Gardai added: “They often increase the cost during the course of the work claiming that the job has required more material than expected and they may then start issuing threats.

“We received reports of these types of bogus callers in the Glenties area today.

“They were travelling in a white Land Rover Defender although please keep in mind that various vehicles would be in use by them.

“Please be vigilant and inform Gardai immediately should you have callers at your home or business who are offering to lay tarmac.”

Gardai are urging the public to not open the front door to anyone unless you are sure you know them and advised people to never agree to work carried out by callers to the door.

Tips on how to avoid scams

Garda advice on how to avoid vishing, smishing and phishing is as follows:

Vishing – Calls

  • Be wary of cold calls received. Ask the caller their name, their phone number and if you are concerned hang up and ring your bank / service provider from a number advertised in a phone book, on your bill or from a Google search.
  • Just because the number looks Irish does not mean it is – fraudsters use VOIP and spoofed numbers.
  • Never act on advice received or instructions from a cold caller.
  • Never give away personal data like bank account details, PIN numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, one time codes, PPS numbers or Eircodes.
  • Never download any Apps as these allow the fraudster to take control of your device.
  • Be aware that State bodies including the Revenue Commissioners will not ring you to advise that you are under investigation.
  • Do not transfer money in any way.
  • Before taking any action, seek advice from a trusted person.

Smishing – Texts

  • Be wary of such texts even if they are contained within the thread of previous genuine texts from banks.
  • Never click on links – by doing so you are accessing cloned websites.
  • If you’re expecting a delivery and receive such a text, be very careful.
  • Banking institutions will never send a text containing a link.
  • An Garda Síochána advise people not to respond to such texts, to take screenshots of the texts received and delete them and to report it to the bank or relevant company and local Garda station.

Phishing – Emails

  • Phishing emails can look official – make sure you are certain it’s legitimate before opening an attachment.
  • Hover over any hyperlinks so you know where they lead to before you click (or go directly to the source).
  • Beware of requests for personal or financial details or requests to reset passwords.
  • Delete any suspicious emails, block the sender and don’t forward the email to anyone else.
  • Don’t store passwords on your browser. If any of your passwords are compromised, it could lead to a chain of disasters and compromise all your accounts.
  • Avoid using personal or untrusted removable devices (such as phones, tablets, iPods, SD Cards) on office systems.
  • Beware of generic, impersonal greetings, such as “Dear Friend” or poor spelling and grammar.
  • Check the displayed name against the actual email.
  • Limit what you share online – cybercriminals use information you post online to learn how to gain your trust.
  • Stay updated with security policies and best practices.

A garda spokesperson said: “Do not open your door to anybody unless you are sure who they are. Use a chain lock for extra security.

“DO NOT agree to have work carried out by these types of callers and do not provide them with your personal details.

“Should you come across these callers, please contact us immediately in Letterkenny on 074-9167100, Buncrana on 074-9320540, Milford on 074-9153060 or Ballyshannon on 071-9858530.”

Gardai ask that homeowners take note of their direction of travel, their description and registration numbers.

If any camera footage is captured such as doorbells or dashcams, it is advised to make this available to Gardai.
