The pair collide in an eagerly-anticipated middleweight showdown in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 250 at the Kingdom Arena on Saturday night.

Magomedov has captivated MMA fans around the world with his incredible performances inside the cage, most of which have been turned in since he lost vision in his right eye.

Many believe the Dagestani’s visual impairment puts him at an incredible disadvantage, but not Page, who told SunSport: “I personally would say no [I’m not at an advantage].

“And the only reason I’m gonna say no is because this man’s 15-0.

“This guy hasn’t been getting hit with stuff.

“I know how amazing human beings can be with what we class as maybe a disability.

“But we’ve had guys with one arm before fight exceptionally [well].

“We’ve got guys with one leg. If we put our mind to anything, we can do anything we want.

“There’s no such thing as a real disadvantage because our body; we just adapt.

“The fact that he hasn’t been caught means that one eye is good enough.

“So I don’t, I don’t see that as an advantage, but I do see me just being me as an advantage.

“So I just need to go in there and make sure I’m the best me on that day.

“And as talented as he is, he’s he’s not gonna overcome this.”

The undefeated Magomedov is somewhat of the black sheep of Dagestani fighters, with his striking being his most dominant skillset.

Page is a fan of the 30-year-old kickboxer’s handiwork, saying: “He’s got unique angles because he likes to throw from different body positions.

“Like whipping his hooks over after his kicks, quite rapidly as well.

“And you can tell he’s got heavy hands. So there’s a lot about him [I like] and he’s willing to try stuff.

“The double back fist, [he was] willing to try it. It was an exceptional, KO.

“But you have to be willing to put yourself in unfamiliar territory, which shows his bravery and shows how confident he is in his abilities.”

Saturday’s Saudi showdown with Magomedov will mark Page’s first-ever foray to middleweight.

The move up to 185lbs and the potential interesting match-ups in the stacked division, however, aren’t distracting Page from his primary goal.

The 37-year-old said: “If there are good fights to be had at middleweight, I’ll take them. But my goal is the welterweight belt.

“Middleweight doesn’t really do anything for me unless it’s an exciting fight.

“So if it’s a good fight, [the] UFC likes it, I like it and fans like it, I’ll do it.

“But the goal is to still progress and go and get that title at welterweight.”

A spectacular win over new favourite Magomedov, however, will well and truly put Page in the mix at 185lbs.

“I feel like I’m definitely coming to make him walk the plank,” Page said of ‘The Pirate’. “[And] make him suffer the first defeat of his career.

“But in a way that I don’t think he ever would have seen it coming before.

“Becuase like I said, he’s gonna be very confident in his striking ability.

“But he’s not gonna understand what I bring to the table.

A DUBLIN man has pleaded guilty to taking part in an attack which left a then seventeen-year-old girl blind in one eye.

Alanna Quinn Idris was struck in the face with the saddle of an electric scooter by a member of a gang, fracturing her eye socket and leaving her permanently blind in her right eye.

Jack Cummins, 21, with an address at Rossmore Road, Ballyfermot was before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today, where he pleaded guilty to assault causing serious harm to Ms Quinn Idris on Ballyfermot Road on December 30, 2021.

He had been due to stand trial.

A second man who also took part in the attack was handed a sentence of four and a half years in March 2023.

Darragh Lyons, 21, of Weir View, Glenaulin, Chapelizod, Dublin 20, pleaded guilty to assault causing serious harm to Ms Quinn Idris, assault causing harm to her friend Louis O’Sullivan and violent disorder on Ballyfermot Road on December 30, 2021.

A third man, Josh Cummins, 20, of Raheen Drive, Ballyfermot, received a five-year sentence, with the final two years suspended in November 2023 for his role in the incident

He pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Ms Quinn Idris. 

He further pleaded guilty to a count of violent disorder and one of production of an article, a hurl, in the course of a dispute.

He also pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Louis O’Sullivan as part of the same incident.

Judge Patricia Ryan heard today that Cummins has no previous convictions.

She remanded him on continuing bail and directed the preparation of a probation report, along with a victim impact statement.

He is due to be sentenced on May 12, 2025.

TWO schools and premises at a business park in Co Galway were evacuated earlier today after a fire broke out at a factory.

Gardai are assisting with the evacuation after Galway County Council declared the scene at Claregalway Corporate Business Park as a “major fire incident” this afternoon.

It is understood that the fire took place at a lithium battery production plant in the area, with the council confirming that the evacuation has been taken as a “precautionary measure”.

It has been reported that, while the fire has been contained after breaking out yesterday, there is concern that gasses resulting from the production processes are not dispersing due to humidity levels.

Parents whose children attend Claregalway Educate Together National School and Coláiste Bhaile Chläir secondary school’s have been urged to collect their children from the evacuation locations.

A statement from Galway County Council said: “Galway Fire and Rescue Service is currently responding to a significant fire at the Claregalway Corporate Business Park.

“As a precautionary measure, a partial evacuation of the business park is underway.

“In the interest of public safety, Claregalway Educate Together National School and Colaiste Bhaile Chlair secondary school are also being evacuated. An Garda Siochana is assisting with the evacuation process.

“All pupils from Colaiste Bhaile Chlair secondary school are being transported by bus to Claregalway GAA Club at Knockdoemore.

“Pupils from the Claregalway Educate Together National School are being evacuated to the church in Claregalway.”

It is understood that some 1,300 students were evacuated from their classrooms at Colaiste Bhaile Chlair.

The schools have already been in touch with school guardians, with parents being told that further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

The council added: “Parents and guardians are advised not to go to the schools, as access is restricted. Instead, they are requested to collect their children directly from the above locations.

“Galway County Council urges the public to follow official guidance and avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work.”

ANOTHER SCHOOL EVACUATED

It comes after another school was evacuated in a separate incident that took place in Co Cork yesterday morning.

An electric cable is suspected to have caught on fire at Glasheen Boy’s National School, located on School Avenue, shortly after 8:30am.

No injuries were reported.

It is understood that staff at the primary school extinguished the minor blaze with a fire extinguisher.

Cork City Fire Brigade were alerted to the blaze and attended the scene within six minutes.

The school, which shares a campus with Glasheen Girls’ School, is located in Cork city centre.

Cork City Council confirmed in a statement that three pumps, a hydraulic platform and a senior officer from the Cork City Fire Brigade mobilised and were on the scene for one hour.

MORE flights are launching to one of the UK’s prettiest islands.

Airline Skybus currently operates three flights a week from Newquay Airport to St Mary’s Airport in the Isles of Scilly in winter.

However, this is set to increase from May 12 to two every day – one in each direction – from Monday to Saturday.

And then during the peak summer season, a third lunchtime flight will be added, from July 1.

The 30 minute flight will also line up with other domestic routes to places like London and Edinburgh.

Skybus managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “Our expansion at Cornwall Airport Newquay is great news for customers, bringing new connectivity, more seats and more travel options for those flying to and from the Isles of Scilly.”

Skybus first launched from Newquay Airport in 1992.

Last summer, a new fast ferry route from Penzance to the islands was scrapped before it ever started, with the current time takign around 2hr45.

The Isles of Scilly are owned by the Duchy of Cornwall – which is Prince William, with him and Kate Middleton often visiting in the summer.

Made up of 200 islands, only five are inhabited.

Tresco Island is where the royals are often spotted, where they take this kids George, Charlotte and Louis.

Just don’t expect to see them – a holidaymaker who told The Sun: “We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves.

The other islands are St Mary’s, Bryher, St Martin and St Agnes.

You can expect a mild climate all year round, being the warmest in the British Isles.

The islands have even been compared to some stunning long-haul destinations.

Travel website The Travel said: “If The Maldives is out of the question, consider visiting this UK archipelago that’s just as stunning.”

The islands are also home to the smallest airport in the UK, with Land’s End Airport only having 19-seat planes.

Another one of the islands is St Agnes, which has a super budget campsite if you want to stay for cheap.

Troytown Farm is the only dairy farm in Scilly and camping you can stay for just £12.50 a night.

Otherwise the island of St Mary’s has the Star Castle Hotel which dates back to the 16th century.

Jersey Airport is also getting new flights amid a £2million revamp.

And Blue Islands is launching a new route from Newcastle to the Channel Islands.
