Stranger Things Creators Admit Season 5’s Release Plan Isn’t Finalized: “Even [2025] Is Quite The Push”
The four plot holes that have left Bridget Jones’ fans annoyed over the years as Mad About The Boy film hit cinemas
BRIDGET Jones is back for a fourth and final chapter and leading stars Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant recently dazzled at the premiere.
Sadly – as the trailer reveals – Britain’s famous singleton finds herself once again riding solo following the tragic death of Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth.
![Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones wrapped in a duvet, eating ice cream.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/NINTCHDBPICT000572950043.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

The poignant clip sees Bridget being called a “widow” and “battling motherhood alone” – although she does seem happy about Leo Woodall’s character coming into her life – a handsome 29-year-old named Roxster.
While the beloved film franchise, which first came out in 2001, has a firm fan base, there are a number of plot discrepancies which have been pointed out by fans over the years.
How could Bridget afford her flat?
![a large brick building with a bridge in the background .](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/bedale-street-flat-284296932.jpg?strip=all&w=422)
![a woman sits on a couch reading a book called the road](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/NINTCHDBPICT000904377704.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
When we are introduced to singleton Bridget in film one, she is portrayed as a bumbling and often tipsy 32-year-old living in London.
However, her one-bedroom Zone One apartment is anything but tragic, which has led to many questioning how Bridget could have afforded it on a publishing salary.
The flat is located in the tourist hotspot Borough Market, and estate agents have estimated it would be worth close to £1million with its SE1 postcode.
However, back in the 1990s the area didn’t have the prestige that it does today, with some saying it would have been worth considerably less.
Dodgy timelines
In film two, (Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason), our favourite heroine is content and smug having bagged Mark Darcy at the end of the first movie.
The second installment begins at Christmas, and in the opening Bridget states she’s “been in a functional relationship with an adult male for six wonderful weeks.”
However, some have pointed out that she actually began to date Mark the previous Christmas, meaning they would have been together for approximately one year.
Ambulance geography
When Bridget goes into labour, the geography of her hospital journey doesn’t quite add up, if you are a Londoner.
Although she lives in Borough, she ends up on a dramatic journey to UCH (University College Hospital), which is miles away near Euston.
This is instead of her popping into the nearer Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London Bridge.
Motorbike hassle
![Patrick Dempsey and Renée Zellweger on the set of Bridget Jones's Baby.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/br-br-non-exclusive-br-968143856.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
Furthermore, when Jack shows up on his motorbike to help Bridget in labour, he and Mark jointly carry Bridget for miles to hospital.
However, many have questioned why they didn’t put her on the motorbike and wheel her along.
Fans of Bridget quickly took to social media to share their sadness at Mark dying, as one person wrote: “What do you MEAN there is a fourth Bridget Jones movie releasing soon, and they KILLED MR. DARCY?!”
A second penned: “I was not prepared to cry over the death of Mr. Darcy in the new Bridget Jones movie; IS MARK DARCY DEAD???”
Another echoed: “My heart sank seeing that Mr. Darcy died in the new Bridget Jones trailer. Why couldn’t they have their happily ever after?”

Huge BBC show lands third series after reboot smashes TV ratings
THE BBC have ordered a third series of Gladiators before the current season has even ended.
The Saturday night show has proved a ratings hit for the corporation, and created a huge buzz.
![Group photo of the Gladiators from season 2.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/comet-legend-sonia-mkoloma-bradley-963491544_b1d18c.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
![A male wrestler in a blue singlet listening intently.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/18-01-2025-1-legend-963491095_4e0494.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

That’s despite the fact that the programme, hosted by Bradley Walsh and son Barney, has only been back on our screens for two weeks.
A TV insider said: “Channel chiefs invariably wait to see how one series does before they order another one – but usually they wait more than fortnight before they make a decision.
“But season two of Gladiators has just been so well received it was a no brainer to commission a third outing as soon as possible.
“It will be a huge thrill to the ever-growing army of fans of the family-friendly show.”
The reboot of Gladiators, which originally started on ITV in 1992 with Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu hosting, launched last January on BBC One.
Not surprisingly the Beeb then ordered a second series plus the celebrity special which aired on New Years Day and was watched by just over 5m.
The current series, which continues tomorrow on BBC One, has had an extra wow-factor thanks to the introduction of a favourite game from the old days, the atlaspheres, as well as bringing in two new gladiators.
Although it would have been a big shock for the BBC had they decided not to order a third outing, it’s quite a surprise they’ve recommissioned so quickly.
Filming on the new series is expected to take place this summer with Bradley and Barney likely to return as presenters.
There’s also a very high chance that the show, made by production company Hungry Bear, will also see Celebrity Gladiators recommissioned for a second outing too.
The BBC were approached for comment.
Meet the Gladiators finalists

The Gladiators final takes place on Easter Saturday at 5.30pm on BBC One.
After ten gruelling weeks facing the superhuman Gladiators, four contenders have made it through to the grand final.
The Gladiators 2024 finalists are:
Finlay Anderson – Army officer Finlay, 34, from Edinburgh has made it to the final despite being injured in the quarter-final.
Wesley Male – Even though he joined in the quarter-final stage, part-time Leeds wrestler Wesley, 35, has proved a force to be reckoned with on the Gladiators gauntlet.
Bronte Jones – This 23-year-old firefighter from Sheffield is the youngest contender in the final.
Marie-Louise Nicholson – Hailing from Dublin, Marie-Louise, 28, is a fitness coach who has scored maximum points five times on Gladiators.

Gladiators Jet fuels rumours she’s reunited with stunning ex as she spends weekend with her after split from new wife
GLADIATOR’S star Jet has sparked rumours she’s reunited with her stunning ex, as they spent the weekend away days before her marriage split.
The TV icon, who shot to fame on the popular 90s show, married wife Zoe in 2023 after a year-and-a-half of dating.
![Diane Youdale and Zoe Youdale on the set of the Lorraine TV show.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/5c98c6ea-3435-47ff-b88b-77f29dfd3277.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

But a source close to the pair today confirmed Jet had split from her wife – who she met in the aisles of a supermarket in 2022.
And since the split, just days ago, the star appeared in an Instagram reel with her nail technician ex lover Sonia Strong, as they went to see Fawlty Towers at the Apollo and went for pizza in Knightsbridge.
Jet – real name Diane Youdale – could be seen in various selfies with Sonia, who wrote about their “overnight stay in London.
They looked in great spirits as they hung out together a couple of days ago, while walking around the city and taking a ride on the tube.
In another reel shared around Christmas of last year, the two women spent time together in a post captioned: “Lovely Weekend, lovely company, lovely food Altogether.. lovely!”
In one of the photos, Sonia could be seen planting a kiss on Jet’s head, and in another selfie there was a love heart placed over the top.
They enjoyed a meal with pals in the photos, and looked very happy in each other’s company.
Jet and Sonia were last pictured together in 2019, and in a video around the same time as they applied face masks.
After they split, Sonia spoke to The Sun about her shock that Jet had got married.
Sonia said: “I didn’t know whether to laugh, scream or cry when I read that Diane was supposedly with her first ever woman.
“The way she told it, it was as if she had stumbled across lesbianism in the cereal aisle at Tesco.
“But we were in a relationship from 2012 to 2019 so how this latest woman can be her first is beyond me.”
The pair had met when Sonia was 13 and they appeared together in a Peter Pan pantomime in Sunderland.
They reconnected in 2012 when both lived in London.
But Sonia claimed Diane, by now a psychotherapist, was struggling with the end of a relationship with a man.
She said she helped rebuild her confidence, even getting her to choreograph musical shows she was producing.
Of their relationship, she said: “I thought it would be just a fling. But two years in she told me I was her soulmate.”
Despite being loving behind closed doors, even suggesting they get married, Diane refused to go public.
Sonia said: “It began to make me feel insecure. We loved each other and lived together but couldn’t be together in public.
“I was sick of it and by the end of 2019 I told her it was over.”
It comes as an insider told MailOnline: “Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn’t to be. They didn’t see any point carrying on so decided to end their marriage.
“It’s sad, especially as they were only married for nearly 18 months, but they just weren’t getting on.
“On reflection, they may have rushed into making their relationship official but there’s no regrets or hard feelings between them.”
Jet, whose real name is Diane Youdale, soared to fame on the hit show Gladiators from 1992 to 1996.
The 54-year-old met Zoe by chance in 2022 before they started a relationship together.
TV icon Jet told how she was approached by the “gorgeous lady” while shopping.
Diane previously admitted she had been “put off relationships for life” after moving to North West England for a failed love interest which ended badly.
But she said: “Just over a year ago, a gorgeous lady approached me in my local supermarket.
“Over a year later, we’re going to get married.
“We are what we are. It doesn’t matter. And I don’t give a damn.
“I’m safe and I’m loved and there’s no threat to me anymore and that’s what means the world to me.”
Diane wed Zoe in a secret ceremony with just six family members and friends present, a year after they met in the supermarket.
The couple enjoyed a quick honeymoon away in Northumbria before spending some time with family and friends, including some of Jet’s former Gladiator co-stars.
They later appeared on ITV’s Lorraine where they opened up on the whirlwind relationship.
