Cat and her co-star Ben Shephard had been hearing children talk about their teachers at a primary school in Surrey when she was given the surprise.
Mrs Cotterill, Cat’s own primary school teacher, suddenly appeared via video link – and she referred to Cat by her real name.
Addressing the star, she said: “Her name is Katie.”
Ben said to Mrs Cotterill: “Because you of course know her as Katie.”
Cat went on to explain that her real name is Catherine, but that she was called Katie when she was growing up.
“Well my real name is Catherine but my grandad always used to call me Katie and my mum and dad and stuff,” she said.
“Unless I was in trouble, then I was sometimes Catherine!”
Cat was delighted to see her former teacher and she was given a glowing report by Mrs Cotterill.
The teacher, who is from Birmingham, said of Cat at school: “She was very enthusiastic, a very kind child. Always wanting to help, always wanting to be involved, just actually, an all round super person.”
Cat grew up in Birmingham and attended Grove Vale Junior School, followed by Dartmouth High School.
When she was 14, she reached the national finals of a modelling competition with BBC programme The Clothes Show.
She was signed by a model agency and it was then that her name was changed to ‘Cat’.
Bosses at the model agency decided it would be easier to give her a nickname when it came to clients rebooking her.
Cat later moved into television, landing a spot on popular kids’ show SMTV: Live alongside Ant and Dec.
She later became one of a few UK stars to crack America after bagging the job of host on So You Think You Can Dance?.
In 2023, Cat was brought in as a guest presenter on This Morning following the departure of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Cat – who has two children with her Irish TV star husband Patrick Kielty – was later made the ITV show’s permanent host alongside Ben.

A MUM-OF-FOUR has found herself labelled “vile” and “filthy” after sharing the reality of using an air fryer to cook for her ever-growing family.
Nicole Austin is no stranger to incurring the wrath of online trolls with regular videos documenting her life as a pregnant mum living in a council house.
tiktok@theaustins_1A pregnant mum-of-four has been labelled “vile” after sharing a look inside her air fryer[/caption]
tiktok@theaustins_1She insisted it doesn’t get used very much, hence it was in a state[/caption]
tiktok@theaustins_1Even the top component of the air fryer was dangerously caked in grease[/caption]
She had to use a spoon to try and scrape the burnt on chips and gunk off the in-built baking traytiktok@theaustins_1
But she found herself accused of deliberately rage-baiting people online with her most recent video, in which she showed just what it looks like inside her fryer.
“When I opened my air fryer to cook my children’s dinner today, I simply couldn’t believe my eyes,” Nicole said in her TikTok video.
“There was absolutely no way I could cook their dinner in this air fryer… I can’t even tell you the last time it’s been cleaned.”
She added that with her air fryer and microwave, it’s a case of “out of sight, out of mind”, and when they’re not used often, they get “neglected”.
“I use my oven a lot more than I use my air fryer, so I really didn’t notice it get in this mess,” she sighed.
“Look at all that fat, grease, grime, and chips… ew!”
She then turned her “cook my kids dinner” video into a “clean my air fryer” video instead, as she said: “This was a biohazard.
“I dread to think the deadly diseases my kids would have got if they ate from this air fryer.”
Nicole then showed herself cleaning the fryer, and even used a hoover to suck up all the food remnants.
“I’m getting really good at keeping on top of visible mess, but things that aren’t visible right in front of me, they get forgotten,” she added.
“And unfortunately, that’s what happened to this little old air fryer.”
“Anyone else struggle with cleaning things they don’t frequently use?” she added in the video caption.
But people in the comments section were less than impressed with Nicole’s video, with one writing: “You are vile, there are no excuses for not being clean especially when you have children.
“You should be ashamed of yourself. This nothing other than laziness.
“Vulgar.”
“This is such a fire hazard and just plain disgusting,” another shouted.
What are the most popular kitchen appliances?
“The most popular kitchen appliance often depends on current trends, personal preferences, and the needs of modern households,” Tracy Coleman, Product Director at High Street TV told Fabulous.
“However, there are a few standout categories that have become staples in kitchens everywhere. These appliances combine functionality, convenience, and innovation, making them essential for daily use.”
Iconic nutribullet blender
The nutribullet 600 Series has become an iconic kitchen appliance, known for its simplicity, power and ease of use, this blender is an absolute must-have for smoothie lovers and health-conscious people. It is the perfect gadget for those who want a quick and easy way to add more fruit, vegetables and protein to their diet, making it one of the most popular blenders out there.
Slow cooker king
If you love the idea of slow-cooked meals but don’t have hours to wait, the Pressure King Pro can cook dishes like stews, risottos, and soups in a fraction of the time it would take using traditional methods, so it’s no surprise that it is so popular.
CleverChef
Finally, the Drew&Cole 5-minute CleverChef is another stand out, which offers speed and convenience. As the name suggests, it’s all about getting meals ready in five minutes or less. Simply add your ingredients, close the lid and just let the 5 Minute CleverChef do the rest! It sears steaks, crisps up crunchy toasties, and makes deliciously fluffy omelettes. All while locking in the delicious original flavours of your ingredients.
“This should be wiped and cleaned after every use,” a third insisted.
“Why would you continue to use it and get to the state it’s in?
“I’m a mum to 4 and never ever would imagine doing this to my kids!!! No excuses!”
“That’s just filth. Those poor kids,” someone else sighed.
“I actually feel sick,” another admitted.
“This isn’t struggling this it’s absolutely disgusting,” someone else agreed.
“All that stuff that was in there can be very dangerous, and that could’ve set on fire.
“As it probably instructs, please clean regularly.”
She also raised eyebrows by using a hoover to suck up all the food crumbs in the fryertiktok@theaustins_1And then got to work scrubbing off the traytiktok@theaustins_1Others in the comments section accused Nicole of “rage baiting” with the videotiktok/@theaustins_1
REUTERSArsenal have been handed a tough run of fixtures for the new Premier League season[/caption]
PAThe Gunners take on defending champions Liverpool at Anfield in their second match of the season[/caption]
EPALiverpool will be without Mohamed Salah for the return fixture on January 7[/caption]
The north Londoners will kick off their season away to Manchester United before matches against Leeds United, defending champions Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Mikel Arteta’s troops will be hoping to strike an early blow to the Merseysiders’ bid to retain the title in their Anfield showdown.
But their chances of doing so will be much higher in the return fixture next January.
That’s because the Reds will be without the services of star man Mohamed Salah.
The Kop club’s Egyptian wizard will miss the match as he’ll be in action at the African Cup of Nations.
Salah’s absence for what could be a title race six-pointer will be music to the ears of the Emirates faithful.
The 33-year-old has been the scourge of the Gunners in recent years, scoring ten goals in his last 17 appearances against them in all competitions.
Arsenal fans were left stunned by the difficult start a Premier League computer has handed the team in what could end up being a make-or-break season for Arteta.

So much so that several of them, WITHOUT A SHRED OF PROOF, have jokingly claimed the fixtures were “RIGGED“.

Another said: “Na this league is rigged.”
And another said: “Them fixtures are rigged.”
One remarked: “Nobody can tell me this isn’t rigged.”
Another seemingly frustrated Gooner chimed in: “Rigged.”
Kate has been dealt a fresh blow after being locked out of her bank accountsShutterstockShe was faced with the prospect of paying back £800,000 after husband Derek’s deathShutterstockKate has insisted she’s ‘determined to put things right’Shutterstock
Now Kate has revealed she’s been frozen out of her bank accounts after changing her phone.
Taking to social media to beg the bank for help, she wrote: “Please please get in touch with me.
“I have not been able to access any of my Barclays accounts current or savings since Friday due to changing my phone handset and can’t get through to anyone on customer service – please dm me.”
Luckily Kate’s plea was answered and the bank replied, telling her to send more information via direct message.
Last month The Sun revealed Kate had received a much-needed financial boost in her struggle to pay back huge debts.
The cost of caring for Derek during his four-year health nightmare ran into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
At the same time, Derek’s psychotherapy firm Astra Aspera Ltd – which was jointly controlled by Kate – went bust owing hundreds of thousands to creditors, including a huge sum to HMRC.
HMRC has submitted a preferential claim of £288,054, a third of its previous submission of £716,822. It’s not known why the HMRC have dramatically dropped their demand.
There are also creditor claims of and £196,548 from four other firms including a £50,000 bank loan.
However, at this stage, there will be no pay out for any creditor after liquidator fees of £32k and 40 per cent of assets have been realised.
So far, Kate has paid back £21,000.
A representative for Kate said: “Kate has met all that the liquidators of Derek’s company have asked for and more over the past four years.
“She doesn’t recognise these figures and is shocked that it’s being presented in this way by them.
“Caring for Derek and supporting her family when Derek could no longer run his own businesses has taken a huge financial toll on her but she’s determined to put things right.”
