TADHG BEIRNE has joked that he will do his best to help Johnny Sexton settle in as a Munster fan.
And he is convinced that the Lions can start to gel as early as Friday night when they face the Pumas.
Tadhg Beirne was speaking ahead of the British & Irish Lions clash against Argentina of FridayBritish and Irish Lions assistant coach Johnny Sexton joked that he’s a Munster fan after the arrival of Rieko Ioane at Leinster
That was in response to Leinster signing Rieko Ioane – who had taunted Sexton at the end of his last game before retirement, the All Blacks quarter-final defeat of Ireland at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
And Beirne – one of three players, alongside Connacht duo Finlay Bealham and Bundee Aki – is ready to help smooth Sexton’s transition.
Beirne laughed: “I was celebrating with him in the hotel yesterday. I was like, ‘aw brilliant, can’t wait to have you down’ and offered him a bed to sleep in for any of the late games.
“I’m looking forward to having him in the stands next year.”
The Kildare man was in jovial form as he prepares for his second Lions tour, replying that he had ‘probably gotten slower, put on a bit of weight’ when asked in what way he had changed as a player since 2021.
And he observed that Maro Itoje does not curse much when asked about the Lions skipper’s leadership style.
But he was more serious when asked if the Lions could be cohesive against the Pumas when still trying to adapt to a new system.
He said: “Why wouldn’t they be compatible? You’re talking about world class players here.
“The expectation we would have of each other is that you can adapt to any system you’re given. That’s the challenge of being a Lion.
“Every four years there’s going to be a new system, the coach is going to want to play a certain way and if you want to be a Lion, you’re going to have to adapt or you’ll get left behind.
“I would say if you came in here thinking that you could just play your club system or your country system, then you’re probably already at a loss.
“If you’re not floating ideas to players in your position, you’re already at a loss as well. We’re in such a privileged position to come into these environments and learn from one another.”

DONALD Trump’s nuclear-hardened “Doomsday Plane” has touched down near to Washington DC as speculation grows over a strike on Iran.
The impervious US Air Force E-4B “Nightwatch” aircraft landed at Joint Base Andrews under the cover of darkness on Tuesday – hours after Trump’s crisis meeting in the White House Situation Room.

Eager aviation followers managed to track the huge Boeing as it went on the move and went on a highly irregular flight path from Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Its movement has sparked fears that it could be a clear indication of Trump and the US joining the war against Iran.
The US government has been urged to join forces with Israel in recent days and bring an end to the Iranian regime in the Middle East.
Trump has even directly threatened Tehran’s Supreme Leader this week, saying “we know where you’re hiding”.
US officials have stressed no official decision has been made yet about their intervention.
But the Nightwatch being moved to just outside of the capital has raised many eyebrows around why it is now so close to the president.
The craft took off from Bossier City and traveled along the coast before landing at the airbase in Maryland at 10:01pm.
The flight lasted for over four hours with never-before-seen call signs also being noticed by online trackers of ORDER01 instead of the typical ORDER6.
The militarized Boeing 747-200 is only used by the White House’s top staff and defence forces in case of a major emergency or global crisis.
The aircraft has only been called into action once before – on September 11, 2001 during the attack on the Twin Towers.
This is due to it being specially designed to keep the US’s most powerful figures safe even in the most deadly conditions.
It is designed to withstand electromagnetic pulses and even nuclear and thermal blasts – hence the “Doomsday Plane” nickname.
They have been in operation since the 1970s and were long considered the best chance for a Cold War president to survive a nuke.
The massive 231ft jet can hold up to 111 crew and passengers on board and features six main areas from a relaxing lounge to a command work area and briefing room.
Another key safety feature is that the plane has four engines and is capable of refueling mid flight allowing for over 35 hours in the air.
Elsewhere, an advanced satellite communications system allows for worldwide conversations with global senior leaders.
An engine can produce 52,500 pounds of thrust from the planes and they can carry up to 800,000 pounds.
This weight can be easily distributed across the massive 231ft long craft that also boasts a 195ft wingspan.

truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrumpTrump has already sent threats to Iran and their Supreme Leader in recent days[/caption]
Each individual plane is believed to have cost a whopping $223million to make.
While it is still unclear why the plane was moved overnight, the aircraft is operational 24/7 to make sure it is always available when needed.
Regular training flights are often done throughout the year as well.
It follows a week of signs that the US is preparing to blitz Iran with the most notable being a huge US air armada made up of dozens of military jets landing in Europe this week.
At least 30 large air-to-air refuellers swooped across the Atlantic followed by at least a dozen F-22 Raptors and F-35 Lightning jets.
Experts said the F-22s and F-35s would most likely be used to bolster Israel’s air defence amid fears Tel Aviv cold run low in its Iron Dome and interceptor missiles.
But there are fears the fighter bombers could also be used to strike targets inside Iran.
The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier was also seen steaming towards the Gulf to reinforce the carrier USS Carl Vinson.
The US President has already warned the “full strength and might” of the military would be used if America was attacked.
Dozens of USAF KC-135 Stratotanker refuelers and KC-46 Pegasus tankers swooped into bases in Prestwick, Scotland, Ramstein, Germany, Moron in Spain and Chania in Crete.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said he had ordered “the deployment of additional capabilities” to the Middle East amid spiralling fears of World War Three.
AS America sends the flagship USS Nimitz supercarrier to the Middle East amid rising tensions, the Sun reveals what life is like onboard.
The Sun spent two days on board the Nimitz, nicknamed Old Salt, a $4.5billion nuclear-powered supercarrier weighing almost 100,000 tons.
The warship is 1,092ft long and 252ft wide and has a four and a half acre flight deck.
The massive 117,000 sq ft warship boasts four aircraft catapults and jets are brought up to the deck using four giant elevators from the hangar deep below the 4.5 acre flight deck.
The supercarrier, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 11, holds F/A-18 Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers and F-35C stealth strike fighters.
Inside the ten floor, 3,000 room hull underneath the flight deck life is one slick operation.
There are several cafeterias, gyms, a Starbucks coffee shop and ‘luxury’ state rooms for ‘Distinguished Visitors’.
Since it is nuclear-powered, the Nimitz – call sign NMTZ – can operate for up to 20 years without refueling.
The Nimitz is the world’s second largest supercarrier, only behind the Gerald R Ford.

A WOMAN was found murdered with tape over her mouth in her north London flat on Friday.
Police say Jennifer Abbott, 69, may have been targeted for her diamond-encrusted Rolex watch after it was discovered missing from her home.
PAMet Police found Jennifer Abbott dead in her home in Mornington Place, Camden, north London, on Friday[/caption]
Abbott’s niece and neighbours broke into her Camden home on Friday night as no one had heard from her in four days.
Her neighbours say they found her body wrapped in a blanket with tape over her mouth.
Ch Supt Jason Stewart said: “We are working closely with our colleagues in the homicide team to establish exactly what happened and it’s incredibly important that we hear from anyone who may have knowledge about how this awful death occurred.”
He added: “Someone must have seen or heard something and no piece of information is too small. It could be the crucial clue that leads us to identify Jennifer’s murderer.
The 69-year-old was last seen walking her pet Corgi around Camden on June 10.
Abbott was known professionally as Sarah Steinberg.
Photos she shared on social media showed her rubbing shoulders with stars including Dan Ackroyd, Paris Hilton and Kate Hudson.
A neighbour, who declined to be named, said: “My son broke the door down.
“We heard her niece shouting: “I was holding the door open downstairs and my son was upstairs and then I heard her niece screaming and saying: ‘Oh my God, she’s been murdered’.
“She had tape across her mouth.”
The pet dog was locked in the bathroom without food or water but survived.
The neighbour added: “I can’t believe we won’t see her walking the corgi any more. She was very exuberant, very vivacious.”
Despite the missing watch clue, police say they are still keeping an open mind as they continue to investigate.
No arrests have been made.

DANI Dyer has branded her husband Jarrod Bowen a ‘d******d’ as she revealed what he got up to on the night before their wedding.
The former Love Island star and the West Ham forward tied the knot back in May.
YouTube @Live And Let DyersDani Dyer joked that she was far from impressed with her new husband[/caption]
InstagramShe tied the knot with England footballer Jarrod Bowen in a lavish ceremony last month[/caption]
They recited their vows in front of their nearest and dearest at the five-star £500-a-night Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire.
However, Dani, 28, was less than impressed with her new spouse’s behaviour in the night before the wedding ceremony.
She revealed that whilst staying in the luxury retreat, her then-fiance and his friends took their playstations to the venue.
It seems that England footballer Jarrod, also 28, has a penchant for video games, which left Dani far from excited.
On the most recent episode of the Live and let Dyer podcast with her actor father Danny Dyer, she said: “He said he ain’t staying with me the night before.
“He went, ‘No, I don’t want to stay with you’. They were all taking, him and their mates, their PlayStations to the hotel.
“I was like, “You’re all a bunch of d***s. Why are you all excited over playing PlayStation when you’re going to be a husband?”
Despite her pleas, the podcast personality was still left alone with her bridal squad as the lads opted for their controllers.
She continued: “He went, “Yeah, that don’t change nothing, I’m still playing”.’
To make matters worse, after the star-studded ceremony, the footballer opted for more gameplay on the popular games console.
Danny fumed: “Then he said to me, ‘What are we doing on the Sunday after the wedding?’
“I said, ‘I don’t know, we’ll probably just be hanging, like, we’ll come home”.
He went, ‘Oh, no, I just didn’t know if I could play football champs on the Sunday’.”
She added: “I went, ‘Yeah play football champs, that’s fine Jarrod, absolutely.”
How Dani Dyer transformed her reputation
The daughter of everyone’s favourite EastEnders geezer Danny, is currently living the high life.
But Dani has had a rollercoaster few years, from her Love Island win back in 2018, to watching her son’s father Sammy Kimmence go to prison for fraud, and now navigating her glamourous new life as a WAG and mother of twin babies.
In recent years, Dani has completely shaken off the ‘chav’ persona, and has become one of the most well-known of the current England WAGs.
Fabulous spoke to celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins to find out the key steps Dani has taken to reinvent herself, including the tips she has borrowed from iconic WAG Cheryl Cole.
Ed revealed that Dani’s ability to navigate personal challenges, such as the scandal involving Sammy, has greatly played a crucial role in her reinvention.
Ed said: “By openly discussing her struggles and triumphs, she has built a strong, relatable persona.
“Her transparency about her personal life, including solo parenting and dealing with public scrutiny, has garnered significant public support and empathy.”
He also shared that Dani’s openness in discussing the challenges of motherhood, has helped to transform her reputation.
Ed said: “This openness has made her more relatable to a broader audience, particularly young mothers. She balances her public image by sharing both the joys and hardships of parenting, creating a more nuanced and authentic brand.”
Her unwavering support for her partner, has cemented her as one of the most well-known WAGS of this generation, according to Ed.
He said: “Her active support for Jarrod, including attending football matches and engaging with fans, mirrors the strategies used by high-profile WAGs like Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham, who also stood by their partners publicly and built their own identities alongside them.”
Not only this, but Ed revealed that Dani has been able to stay relevant over the years due to her candid use of social media.
He said: “Dani has consistently used media platforms to share her narrative, from interviews to social media updates.
“She has managed to stay relevant by engaging with her followers through candid posts and professional collaborations.
“This approach is reminiscent of how Victoria Beckham transitioned from pop stardom to a respected fashion designer, using media to reframe her public image.”
Together, the loved-up duo checked into stunning five-star resort Villa d’Este in Lake Como.
On social media, they shared photos from their stay, with snaps of them looking smitten as they admired the picturesque lake views.
Dani later showed off more of the jawdropping scenery from their £5,000 suite, which boasted a balcony and a separate living area.

BEN ASKREN’S wife is “praying for a miracle” as the former UFC star might need a lung transplant.
Askren is in hospital on a ventilator fighting pneumonia following a staph (bacterial) infection.

His partner Amy said she “never could have expected” such an “awful situation” as her 40-year-old husband is “the healthiest guy I know”.
She issued an update on his condition via Facebook after he was moved from a hospital in Vegas to Wisconsin.
Amy explained that Ben’s “critical” condition has seen so many ups and downs that doctors have begun the “evaluation process” for a possible lung transplant.
She praised the support he has been receiving from the MMA world and beyond.
And she said: “I’m still praying for a miracle with his current lungs.
“I know transplants are such a blessing and I’m overwhelmed at the thought of him receiving a gift like that.
“No one would take better care of that gift than Ben.
She also asked fans of her partner – aka “Funky” – to join her in praying for him.
Amy added: “Thank you for every message and all of the support.
“Despite this awful situation, I’m feeling so blessed by the community we’re surrounded by.”
And she urged everyone to appreciate their health – but also be prepared.
Amy said: “Give your loved ones a hug today.
“And make sure you’re prepared [for] situations like this.
“Ben is the healthiest guy I know and I never could have expected this.”
The ex-welterweight fighter was taken to hospital earlier this week after developing a lung problem and pneumonia following an infection.
He was briefly “unresponsive” and has been on a ventilator as well as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, which is like an artificial lung.
Askren’s friend, former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier, has also spoken anxiously about his podcast host.
He said: “Pray for Amy, guys. Pray for the kids. Ben, we love you, buddy.

AmazonJeremy Clarkson has revealed a new health concern after his recent heart operation, following stressful ‘disasters’[/caption]
AmazonJeremy shared his health concern while discussing one of his passions[/caption]
He said he experienced worrying symptoms such as feeling “clammy”, “tightness in my chest”, and “pins and needles in my left arm”.
Now, the Clarkson’s Farm star has opened up on a new health concern.
“I have a trapped nerve in my back at the moment,” Jeremy has revealed.
Talking about cars in his Sunday Times column, the telly star continued: “It’s fine but I’m doing anything, but in the G 580 (a Mercedes motor), not doing anything is impossible because it pitches and rolls all the time, and you never have any idea what it’s going to do next.
“So you can’t ever brave yourself. Getting out of this and back into Lisa’s Range Rover was like getting out of an economy seat on a new airline called Air Turbulent and into a bed at the world’s most peaceful hotel.”
Last month, Jeremy opened up to The Sun about his ailing health which is shown on the new series of Clarkson’s Farm.
“You can see me becoming more and more ill as the days go on, because I just lose my sense of humour, lose my ability to stay calm. I get in a proper old panic.
“I didn’t know at the time. I knew I wasn’t being me. Because if you don’t sleep, it very quickly has an effect,” he said.
Revealing how he was under immense pressure amid his health issues, Jeremy said: “I was trying to get the pub open for the August Bank Holiday weekend, and at the same time doing the harvest on the farm.
“And it’s very well documented I ended up in hospital with a heart problem, when you see how stressful it was trying to do those two things – there’s simply no sleep.
“I was coming back knackered from a day trying to get the pub open, and having to get straight into the tractor to do grain carting through the night.
“You can’t make the harvest wait, if it’s dry, ready and fit, as they say in farming I’ve discovered, if the wheat and barley fit you’ve got to get out there. God it was knackering.”
Jeremy also revealed how things going wrong and last-minute “disasters” also took its toll, with the former Top Gear star now admitting he was ‘silly’ to attempt to do as much as he did across the two days.
Jezza continued: “The amount of things that went wrong in the two days in the opening weekend.
“I know everyone’s going to say you made that up, it can’t possibly be that disastrous. But it was.
“It was one thing after another after another, it was incredibly stressful.
“That was idiotic to try and do what I tried to do over those weekends.”
Jereemy revealed in his Sunday Times column an ambulance rushed him to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital where tests ruled out a heart attack.
However, further examinations revealed one artery was fully blocked and another was nearly blocked, putting him at serious risk.

BRITISH waters could soon see a surge in shark species as they seek out new habitats, scientists say.
These include increasing numbers of basking and spurdog sharks – which can grow up to 1.6 metres – and thornbacks, a type of stingray with spines.
GettyBasking sharks are expected to thrive further in British waters[/caption]
Graham CampbellThe sharks, pictured here close to a Scottish Highland coast, can grow to 32ft[/caption]
Scientists have mapped out how those at threat of extinction will migrate for a better chance of survival as sea temperatures rise.
The research – undertaken by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) – showed native oysters will be amongst the biggest winners.
Experts say mobile species will cope best, but static creatures could struggle to adapt – with fears the sea pen could lose as much as 40 percent of their habitat by the end of the century.
The ocean quahog, a type of clam that can live more than 500 years, is also predicted to find it harder to adapt.
Bryony Townhill, marine scientist at Cefas, told BBC News: “As an island nation, we’re hugely reliant on the sea for our food and for jobs.
“Any changes that we see in our seas are particularly impactful.”
She added that movement of the 19 species could result in bigger catches for fishermen in coastal communities.
Professor John Pinnegar, director of the Cefas Marine Climate Change Centre, said the biggest surprise from the findings was the possibility of native oysters thriving.
“They’ve been declining and disappearing for 100 years – and yet the climate model suggests they should be doing fine and perhaps even thriving,” he explained.
Prof Pinnegar said although there is potential for new habitats, the vulnerable species still need protecting from the likes of fishing equipment, disease and pollution.
Basking sharks are the second-largest living shark after the whale shark, and can grow up to 10 metres, or 32ft.
They are not, however, a threat to humans, and live on plankton.
