Strictly star fights back tears as she reveals holiday disaster just weeks after nightmare theft

A DEVASTATED Strictly star has shared her holiday disaster – just weeks after a nightmare theft.

Influencer and YouTuber Saffron Barker, 24, starred on the BBC show back in 2019.

Saffron jetted out to Dubai along with her parents, as well as boyfriend Josh Miln.

In her latest YouTube vlog, she opened up to fans about an unfortunate mishap on the holiday.

Saffron surprised her parents with a yacht trip – which the whole group had been enjoying.

Disaster struck when Saffron’s vlogging camera accidentally fell into the sea.

Speaking to viewers, Josh explained how a member of staff picked up a nearby towel – with the expensive tech slipping and falling overboard.

Earlier in the video, Saffron reiterated it was accidental and not the staff member’s fault.

She said: “It means I’ve lost all my footage and camera which I’ve obviously just bought because I got it stolen in the US.

“So that’s another £1000 camera just gone. But for me, I think I’m so upset because it’s every I vlogged this trip, it’s before this trip. It’s basically all my footage.”

A scuba team was dove down to try and recover the camera – in the hope its SD Card may be recoverable.

Josh later said: “The guy who went down, he saw the anchor and said it was dragging. So, we have moved since we docked.

“So the chances of getting the camera are very low.”

Last month, Saffron had a nightmare experience while she and Josh were visiting the USA.

She shared her harrowing experience in a candid TikTok make-up tutorial, explaining the aftermath after men broke into her car.

Explaining these men were armed, Saffron said: “I honestly can’t leave the US right now and everything I had with me was completely stolen.

“If I’m being honest, this trip has just not gone to plan at all. I’ve suffered the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.”

What was meant to be a fresh start for Saffron and Josh quickly turned into a nightmare.

After a difficult period, the couple decided to try and salvage their trip with a road trip from Hollywood to Las Vegas.

Renting a Jeep, they set off vlogged their journey.

About two hours into the drive, the pair stopped at Peggy Sue’s Diner, a nostalgic spot Saffron had visited with her parents many years ago.

She admitted: “We were completely naive. There were lots of cars around, so we didn’t think anything bad could happen.”

But when they returned to their car after just half an hour inside, they found it completely smashed up.

Every single item inside was stolen – including their passports and Saffron’s medication.

She said tearfully: “It’s not just the material things. It’s everything we needed. We had nothing left, no ID, no medication, nothing.”

Strictly first kicked off back in 2004, and over the years has crowned 21 winners.

Here is a full list of who has been lucky enough to win the famous Glitterball Trophy:

The incident was made worse by the fact the area was busy and yet no one seemed to intervene.

Josh added: “There were tourists everywhere, and apparently this happens almost every day. It’s crazy that there are no warning signs.”

Despite their shock and devastation, the couple counted their blessings.

Saffron said: “I’m so grateful to be alive. They have guns in America, and something much worse could have happened. We keep telling ourselves that we should be grateful we’re still here.”

THE HISTORY OF PENNEYS

THE Penneys brand grew from humble beginnings on Dublin's Mary Street, where it opened its first store in 1969.

Known as Primark outside Ireland, the company was the brainchild of Garfield Weston, who hired Dubliner Arthur Ryan to make his vision reality.

Penneys branched into the UK in 1973 with its first store opening in Derby. The UK now has 191 Primark stores in total.

However, the Penneys name could not travel to Britain as the American retailer JC Penney had the right to use the name in the region.

And in 2006, the expansion into Europe began with an opening in Spain, followed by the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Austria, France and Italy.

Primark went Stateside for the first time in September 2015, with the opening of a store in Boston. There are now 27 stores in America with branches in Florida, Brooklyn, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The retailer’s opened its largest store in Birmingham in 2019.

It spans five floors and features Primark’s biggest beauty studio to date, a barbers and three restaurants.

The little-known signs of deadly heatstroke you might notice when tired as temperatures set to soar to 26C in Ireland

THE HSE has warned people to watch out for the little-known signs of heatstroke that they may notice when they are tired.

As temperatures soar to 26°C in Ireland this week, the public are reminded to stay safe in the sun.

The HSE have shared tips on how the public can stay cool this summer[/caption]

As the weather heats up, it’s important to remember that higher temperatures can impact our health and wellbeing.

This week, Ireland is set to get as warm as Spain, with mercury rising to 26°C.

With this sun also comes the risk of heat exhaustion, which, if left untreated, can result in hospitalisation.

The HSE said: “Heat exhaustion is not usually serious if you can cool down within 30 minutes.

“If it turns into heatstroke, it needs to be treated as an emergency.”

Everyone is at risk of getting one of these two illnesses as the weather gets brighter.

But it is recommended to keep an extra close eye on those who are more at risk of heatstroke or exhaustion.

Children, the elderly, and anyone with long-term heart problems like diabetes are all to be kept extra safe in the sun this summer.

Symptoms are often the same in adults and children. But children may become irritable and sleepy.

If someone is showing any of these signs, they need to be cooled down and given fluids as soon as possible.

What are the signs of heat exhsution and heatstroke?

As temperatures rise to over 26C this week, people are at risk of getting heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

But how can you know you are suffering and what signs can you check for to catch it early?

Many signs can include:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness and confusion
  • Loss of appetite and feeling sick
  • Heat rash
  • Excessive sweating and pale, clammy skin – a change in skin colour can be harder to see on brown and black skin
  • Cramps in the arms, legs and stomach
  • Fast breathing or a fast pulse
  • High temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or above
  • Being very thirsty

The HSE has listed many ways for the public to help themselves or someone else cool down this week.

There are four main things you can do if someone has heat exhaustion, like moving them to a cool place or simply removing unnecessary clothing items.

You should also get them to drink plenty of water or a sports or rehydration drink.

Or cool their skin using a spray or sponge with water and fan them, as well as using cold packs around the armpits or neck.

According to the HSE, you should stay with them until they have shown signs of a lower temperature.

They should start to cool down and feel better within 30 minutes.

When should you call 112/999 or go to your nearest emergency department ?

Heat exhaustion can turn into a more deadly illness known as heatstroke.

But how do you know when to call 112, 999 or go to your nearest emergency department?

If you or someone else has any signs of heatstroke, such as:

  • Feeling unwell after 30 minutes of resting in a cool place and drinking plenty of water
  • Not sweating even while feeling too hot
  • Very high temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above
  • Fast breathing or shortness of breath
  • Feeling confused
  • A fit (seizure)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Not being responsive

Heatstroke can be very serious if not treated quickly.

And you should always put the person in the recovery position if they lose consciousness while you’re waiting for help.

There’s a high risk of heat exhaustion or heatstroke during hot weather or exercise.

To help prevent heat exhaustion or heatstroke:

  • Drink plenty of cold drinks, especially when exercising
  • Take cool baths or showers
  • Wear light-coloured, loose clothing
  • sprinkle water over your skin or clothes
  • Avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm
  • Avoid excess alcohol
  • Avoid extreme exercise

‘You’re not getting rid of me that easy’- Arthur Gourounlian clears up rumours after teary statement

The RTE star launched a website on June 17, 2010 and used it to share career highlights and connect with fans.

Arthur told fans he was just saying goodbye to his old website

But 15 years on, Arthur revealed that the site had run its course as he decided it was time to let go.

In a statement shared to his Instagram, the celebrity choreographer said: “And just like that, an era come to an end.”

A message underneath the post wrote: “Goodbye, it’s been amazing.”

This sparked controversy amongst fans as they wondered if Arthur was deleting his social media account.

However, the 44-year-old was quick to clear up the confusion in a short clip on his Instagram story.

The dad-of-two told fans: “I think we need to quickly recap regarding the website post I posted yesterday.

“I am deleting the website and it is goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, but unfortunately for you guys I am not going anywhere.”

Arthur continued: “You guys know how much I love my social media, so I will be staying right here, you’ve still got me, you’re not going to get rid of me that easy.”

The TV star admitted that he felt “very emotional” deleting his website yesterday as it held so many memories from his career.

The Armenian native explained that when he began his dancing career, he built the website as a portfolio for his work.

He added: “But these days people don’t want to use your website, they only use Instagram.”

Arthur clarified that what he used the website for was “not the point” of his statement on social media.

And the dancer confessed that he wanted to show fans how emotional it felt for him to delete all his content from over 15 years.

‘DIFFERENT DIRECTION’

Arthur admitted that he was in floods of tears when it came to actually deleting the site, which left his husband, Brian Dowling slightly confused.

He said: “Brian was like, ‘Why are you crying?’, and I was like, ‘You just don’t understand’. Because it is all very emotional and close to my heart.

“Some people I’ve worked with are not with us anymore and I was just going over everything I’ve done.”

Arthur finished off the video by stating: “I am in a new chapter in my life and I didn’t need it anymore, I’m moving forward.

“I’m going in a different direction and that can be really good.”

Samsung could charge monthly FEE for top gadget owned by millions – and you’ll miss perks if you don’t pay

CUSTOMERS could be charged a monthly fee if they want to get their hands on Samsung’s latest update.

The latest software in the tech giant’s smart watch line introduces unrivalled health features, but also an update that could alienate millions of its existing users.

Samsung announced its new One UI 8 Watch update for Galaxy Watches on Monday.

The tech company is exploring the introduction of a premium subscription model, comparable to Garmin’s Connect Plus and Fitbit Premium, according to senior vice president Hon Pak in an interview with CNET.

But who will be affected?

Well, with only one month until its official release, Samsung has yet to announce who will have to pay to access this functionality, and also how much it will cost.

Pak told CNET: “We believe wellness isn’t just one thing. It’s activity, nutrition, mental health, and sleep combined.

“What we really think we can do is bring this data about sleep, nutrition, activity and stress, and really contextualize it for the user,” Pak added.

Samsung first launched its smartwatches with the Samsung Galaxy Gear in September 2013.

This watch update comes one year after the tech giant unveiled the Galaxy Watch 7, which retailed at £289.

The update will debut with the imminent release of the Galaxy Watch 8 series next month, but is currently undergoing a trial phase.

The One UI 8 Watch Beta Programme will be launched in select countries and will be accessible to those with compatible older watches.

Available in both the USA and South Korea for customers who enrol in the programme, the update will give them access to unprecedented health features before anyone else.

The update, once released, will give users a variety of health features, including a non-invasive Antioxidant Index check, Bedtime Guidance, AI Running Coach, and Vascular Load.

The reason behind having such innovative and unrivalled features is that the company aims to make a more proactive health monitor to help stand out in a market full of like-for-like fitness trackers.

Who gets these features?

The soon-to-be-released update and watch form part of Samsung’s goal of making clinical-level insights accessible at home.

While the features will make an official debut with the arrival of the new Galaxy watch in July, it will be available on some older models.

The compatibility for each device will depend on whether it has advanced LED sensory, which will be essential to power these premium functions.

Therefore, more complex features, Vascular Load and Antioxidant Index, will be available only on any watch after and including Galaxy Watch Ultra, with the AI Running Coach available on the Galaxy Watch 7 or later.

How much does it cost?

Samsung are also considering a change to how they charge their customers to access the feature.

It is not known how much this may cost.

The Sun has approached Samsung for a comment.

Bankrupt former World Darts semi-finalist, 59, stuns Gerwyn Price to earn timely Players Championship prize money boost

Les Burons darts player.

MERVYN KING’S form has gone “Boom” – three months after he went bust.

The Ipswich ace toppled former Ally Pally champ Gerwyn Price on the way to three impressive wins at Players Championship 18.

Ex-world champ Gerwyn Price was overwhelmed by King[/caption]

It couldn’t be more timely for King who feared losing his home after saying he owed “north of £500,000” to HMRC.

The one-time BDO world no. 1 exclusively told SunSport in March he even worried about how he could look after his three dogs.

The ex-world championship semi-finalist said he “hid my head in the sand” as his debts soared over the past two decades.

But King was in scintillating nick at Leicester’s  Mattioli Arena on Wednesday.

And top billing went to his opening performance.

The current world no.147 dismantled Premier League Darts star Price 6-2.

Averaging nearly 100, King bagged six of his nine attempts at double to clinch a 6-2 victory.

His Welsh victim Price, 40, is world-ranked 11th and has seven PDC majors to his name, including the ultimate prize at the Ally Pally in 2021.

King went onto beat Glastonbury thrower Justin Hood 6-3 before pipping Dutchman Wesley Plaisier 6-5.

But back-in-form Morecambe star Dave Chisnall ended the veteran’s surge by inflicting a 6-2 defeat.

But for King just being at the oche might be an escape  after he was made insolvent at the at the High Court of Justice in London earlier this year.

He and wife Tracey were anxious about the care of their three large pets — a Pyrenean Mountain Dog, a Pyrenees-Newfoundland cross and a Golden Retriever – should the couple have to downsize their home.

King made most of his money from darts at his peak from the late-90s to early 2000s.

However, he mistakenly thought the income was “winnings” and not “earnings” – and didn’t make it known to the tax authorities.

Two decades later – during Covid – he began delivering parcels for Amazon — and realised he could be near to becoming bankrupt.

He also started a construction business but “got rid of it” as he now can’t be a company director.
