‘Something needs to be done’ demand fans as common Aviva Stadium complaint crops up again during Ireland vs England
RUGBY fans insisted “something needs to be done” as a common Aviva Stadium complaint cropped up during Ireland’s Six Nations clash against England.
Simon Easterby’s first game as interim Ireland head coach pitted him against long-time rivals at Lansdowne Road.

However, despite the inherent rivalry, some fans voiced complaints as to the atmosphere at the stadium.
It was a topic of conversation on Virgin Media before the game, with pockets of seats only filling up as the game approached kick-off.
When both sets of teams left the field following their warm-up, host Joe Molloy asked the panel if the atmosphere was “a bit flat”.
Former Ireland international Shane Horgan responded: “Let’s see what it’s like when they walk on. The atmosphere against England is always strong.
“The other thing is we talk too much about what the crowd do.
“The crowd reacts to what Ireland do and how they play and if Ireland plough into this time in the first five minutes, the crowd will be into it.”
His former teammate Rob Kearney was in agreement, adding: “Sometimes there is always a bit of a lack of atmosphere here.
“We are not blessed to have an extra 30,000 seats. I couldn’t agree with Shane more.
“The teams needs to get the crowd into it but I promise you once the anthems come and we fill up in here, the place will be rocking.”
However, that did not manifest in a first-half which saw Ireland fall behind to an early Caden Murley try.
After Marcus Smith was sent to the sin-bin, Jamison Gibson-Park got Ireland off the mark with try well-worked with James Lowe.
Smith returned to the field to kick a late penalty as Steve Borthwick‘s men took a 10-5 lead into the break.
And fans on social media pointed to the atmosphere at the ground being reflectively flat.
Dylan asked: “Serious question – is the atmosphere dead at Six Nations games at the Aviva Stadium? It sounds lifeless through the television.”
Alastair posted: “I know exactly what to expect from the Aviva Stadium though… Lifeless so far. Opening of the Six Nations.
“The big idea to generate pre-match atmosphere was a solo of The Fields [of Athenry]?!”
Rob said: “Trying to improve the atmosphere at the Aviva…..let’s play Dirty old town mid match”
Josh lamented: “It’s well documented, but I can confirm that the atmosphere at the Aviva is awful.”
Eimear remarked: “The atmosphere is that dead in the Aviva they have to play Dirty Old Town over the speakers”
And Joseph said: “The atmosphere at the Aviva is shocking. Something needs to be done about it.”
‘Unacceptable’ childcare hell for Dublin parents after shock move to slash hours of ‘essential’ creche service
A GROUP of parents have told of their childcare hell after their local creche cut its hours with just a week’s notice.
Parents of 28 kids who attend the Rainbow Community Caregroup were informed on Tuesday that afternoon sessions would be permanently slashed from February 7.

The creche in Stoneybatter, Dublin, cited “financial difficulties” and asked parents to make alternative arrangements.
Supporters gathered outside the city council-leased building on Friday for a protest.
Parents and teachers claim they have been “left in the dark” over the sudden move.
The kids were told the event was a party to celebrate their teachers.
Worried dad Mark Sheerin, whose son Aran attends the afternoon group, called the resource “magnificent” and said it’s been “essential” for the small Dublin community.
He told The Irish Sun: “We got a letter in the post to tell us the afternoon play group would be closing permanently.
“There was no explanation, other than the decision hadn’t been taken lightly. So we got no context, no warning, and eight working days to sort everything out. We really don’t know what we’re going to do.
“It’s extremely difficult in this area to get childcare. Two other facilities have shut and this one is now under threat.
“We just want to know why this place is closing in the afternoons, as parents we are willing to help, we want an open dialogue so we can resolve this situation and keep this resource open for our community.”
Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou MacDonald attended the rally and blasted the decision to axe the hours.
She said: “What’s going on is unacceptable, to pull the rug from under parents in this way, and from the children who love being here, who love the teachers and their friends. It is unacceptable.
“There’s been no explanation, no engagement, no answers — that needs to change.”
“We can’t afford in Stoneybatter to be losing more of these services.”

Charlotte, 32, is expecting a baby girl with her fiancee Matt Sarsfield.
The podcast host was glowing as she cradled her bump for pictures at the party, held in Blackpool.
In one snap, Charlotte packed on the PDA with Matt for the joyous day which was attended by their family and close friends.
Charlotte wore a stunning, figure-hugging pink satin dress.
The frock featured a feathered trim with a left leg slit as the mum-to-be oozed glamour.
She maintained a pink theme throughout the shower, with her mum Tracey rocking a pink blazer and hat, along with stylish black trousers.
Charlotte’s pal and Emmerdale star Kelsey Beth-Crossley stunned in a hot pink skin-tight dress as they both posed for the camera.
Last week Charlotte revealed she spent the day in tears and felt really low as she struggles with her emotions ahead of the birth.
Sharing a candid post on Instagram, she said: “Had a really hormonal day where I cried most of the day!
“The boys went back to nursery and was tough getting them there and I’m feeling just really run down and low.
“But it’s ok to have those days. I wanted to start January on a high but I haven’t really yet.”
Elsewhere, Charlotte and Matt seem to be back on track after she kicked him out of their family home after sending messages to another woman online.
Charlotte later allowed Matt back into the house as they worked to save their relationship.
