‘Absolutely heartbroken’ trainer Richard Hannon addresses tragic death of Harry’s Girl at Royal Ascot

‘ABSOLUTELY heartbroken’ trainer Richard Hannon has addressed the tragic death of Harry’s Girl at Royal Ascot.

The two-year-old filly, who was co-owned by Harry Kane’s former agent Will Salthouse, suffered a severe leg injury in the first race on day two.

Harry’s Girl, circled, was travelling in the stands-side group when she sadly broke her leg and died in the first race on day two of Royal Ascot

She was travelling at the back of the stands-side group in the 5f Queen Mary Stakes when she appeared to stumble.

Jockey Sean Levey did his absolute best to stop the filly running as quickly as possible – but sadly she could not be saved.

Classic-winning trainer Hannon, who was another of her co-owners, posted a message on X describing his despair at the sad loss.

He wrote: “After the highs of Tuesday, we are absolutely heartbroken to have lost Harry’s Girl on Wednesday afternoon at Ascot.

“She was a lovely filly with a fantastic character.

“Our sympathies go out to everyone that looked after her and loved her at home, and of course to her owners.”

ITV Racing presenter Ed Chamberlin said the incident was ‘horrible’ – and cast a shadow over the contest won by Aidan O’Brien’s True Love.

He said: “We’ve just had this confirmed by Ascot – Harry’s Girl did suffer a fatal injury.

“Our thoughts go out to connections.

“It’s desperately sad for the Hannon team after they celebrated with their winner Haatem yesterday.”

The filly was a big favourite at Hannon’s Marlborough yard.

Speaking before the race, the popular trainer said: “She’s a very precocious filly who won well on debut at the Craven meeting and did everything right bar win at York in the Listed Marygate Fillies’ Stakes.

“I really thought she’d win that day and she appeared home and hosed but got caught close home by a fast finisher on the other side of the track which she didn’t see coming.

“Her work has been very good, and she looks magnificent in her coat.

“It’s a typically competitive Queen Mary, but she’s a strong traveller with plenty of boot and this race has been the plan all along so I’m hopeful of a bold show.”

Harry’s Girl, who was bought for £36,000 last August, won on debut at Newmarket in April this year.

She was then a hugely promising second in a Listed contest at York last month.

The daughter of former champion sprinter Harry Angel was given odds of 16-1 for the Royal Ascot Group 2 but her trainer clearly thought a lot of her.

Sadly she will never get the chance to fulfill that potential.

Watch brutal moment Love Island star turns on girl he’s coupled up with after she snogs another Islander

THE Love Island stars played a brutal game of beer pong in last night’s episode – with one Islander turning on the girl he’s coupled up with.

During the game, Love Island bombshell Yasmin Pettet – who is coupled up with Shea Mannings – locked lips with Harry Cooksley and Dejon Noel Williams

His co-stars were stunned when he picked Yasmin, who he is coupled up with[/caption]

But it got even more awkward when Shea was tasked with shaking the hand of the Islander he believes is playing the biggest game.

His co-stars were stunned when he reached across to shake Yasmin’s hand and added: “Maybe she’s put it on me to try and stay in the villa.

“I’m not sure, we’ll have to see how that goes.”

Yasmin didn’t deny Shea’s shock claim and simply replied: “Fair enough.”

Earlier this week Yasmin made a shock proposal when she offered Dejon and Toni Laites a threesome.

Meg Moore – who is coupled up with Dejon – questioned Yasmin’s motives after she snogged him last night.

She said: “Wait, how can you still be happy in your couple if you’re snogging everyone but the man you’re coupled up with?”

Yasmin fired back: “It’s just a game,” to which Meg responded: “But you’re saying you’re happy in your couple.”

Also during the game, Meg branded Yasmin and Shea the most “mismatched couple”.

She said: “For the pure fact Yasmin’s trying to do threesomes with the person I’m coupled up with.”

But Yasmin later brushed it off as she reflected on the game in the beach hut.

She said: “I think Meg definitely wanted to get me back with that.

“But at the end of the day, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw f****** stones.”

Goodnight Sweetheart fans will finally discover what happened to Gary Sparrow after show’s controversial axe

GOODNIGHT Sweetheart fans will finally get the answers they have been searching for thanks to a brand new project in the works.

Viewers of the programme will learn the fate of Gary Sparrow after many questions were left unanswered following the show’s controversial axing by the BBC.

The story of Gary Sparrow will continue in a new book[/caption]

The programme, starring Nicholas Lyndhurst of Only Fools and Horses fame, originally ran from 1993 until 1999.

Fans were left over-the-moon when it made a one-off comeback in 2016 with many who worked on the show hoping that it paved the way for another full-length series but the BBC failed to commission it for anything else.

Now, the show’s writing duo, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, have teamed up to pen a new novel to explore what happened to Gary after the end of the TV programme.

But the pair have already been forced to call upon fans help.

The writers are aiming to raise £30,000 via a crowd-funding site in order to bring the book to life.

At the time of publication, this petition had already amassed a whopping £11,500 in donations from 211 supporters.

The book will only be published if the fund manages to reach the target amount.

Teasing what is to come in the novel, a synopsis reads: “The new book will begin a little before the events of the 2016 televised story, Many Happy Returns, because though Gary’s life since the end of the war has been mundane, in the spring of 1962, things are starting to heat up when Marilyn Monroe sings at President Kennedy’s birthday party in that skin-tight dress.

“When Gary first met Phoebe, he told her the girl he left behind in L.A. went by the name of Marilyn Monroe.

“It was just his little private joke. It had never occurred to him that he would be living in the past, married to Phoebe when Marilyn became an international sex symbol in the 1950s.

“For years, every time Phoebe’s seen Marilyn on the silver screen, her insecurities have overwhelmed her.

“What if Gary were to go back to Hollywood to regain the love of his life?

“That is, until Marilyn’s shock death at the age of 36, which brings all of Phoebe’s old feelings back to the surface.”

Speaking of their decision to pen a new book and their hopes for its publication, authors Laurence and Maurice said: “Of all the shows we have ever written, Goodnight Sweetheart has the biggest and most devoted fanbase.

“We were thrilled at the audience response to the 2016 special. Like our fans, we want to know what happened next to Gary Sparrow and his two families.

“And now, Idiot Box [publishers] are giving us and you the chance to find out!”

The TV show’s premise followed Gary Sparrow as he lived a double life being able to time-hop between 1990s London and the Second World War in the 1940s.

Popular beachfront theme park forced to close twice a week

A SEASIDE town theme park has revealed they are being forced to close twice a week.

Fantasy Island first opened in Ingoldmells near Skegness in 1995.

Fantasy Island theme park is to close two days a week

While the theme park is open every day during the summer season, they have confirmed this won’t be the case for the rest of the year.

Outside of summer, the theme park is now going to close on Mondays and Tuesdays.

A spokesperson for Fantasy Island told local media: “Whilst our rides remain open every day during the summer, we have made the decision to restrict our opening outside of this peak period.”

The theme park cited increased wage costs as well as an increase in electricy prices.

They added: “This, coupled with growing caution in consumer spending, makes it increasingly difficult to operate sustainably outside peak periods.”

This means the theme park will only be open from Wednesday to Sunday instead.

According to the website, the new changes will affect the months of April, May, June and September.

The park is only open for limited days in October and March, with the park closed from December to February.

Many seaside towns only open many of their attractions on reduced hours outside of the peak season.

Until then, the theme park is open seven days a week, which also includes “Europe’s biggest seven-day market” with 320 stalls.

It has a number of rollercoasters include The Odyssey, The Millennium and the smaller Rhombus Rocket.

To cool off, there are water rides including a log flume and river rapids.

You can even spend the night, with the Fantasy Island Holiday Park included wristbands and discounts for the theme park.

Despite opening 30 years ago, the theme park went into administration back in 2014.

It then reopened in 2021 after being bought out, and has remained open since then.

Here are five other coastal theme parks in the UK.

And here is a seaside theme park that is opening a new log flume ride this year.

They’ll cost you just £18 for a pack of two[/caption]

Fashionistas are going wild for the two pack of Light Control Thigh Slimmers from M&S – and not only are they super effective, but they’re affordable too.

The shorts will make your thighs look slimmer and have even been said to make your bum appear bigger too – yes, you heard that correctly.

According to M&S bosses, fashionistas will “sport a flawless silhouette by slipping on these light control thigh slimming shorts.”

They are designed to “accentuate your curves” and “help to flatten and smooth out stubborn areas with their gentle stretch.”

And you won’t have to worry about people seeing them either, as they are said to have “no VPL.”

The M&S shorts have been crafted “using anti-chafing fabric, making them a flattering and comfortable choice to wear underneath figure-hugging looks.”

For just £18 for two, we think they’re a real steal – and there’s two colour options to choose from – black and rose quartz.

The shorts, which according to customers, fit “true to size”, are available from a size 8 to a size 24, making them perfect for a variety of different body shapes.

And it’s clear that shoppers are loving them, as they have quickly amassed countless five star reviews, with many hailing them the “best” anti-chafe shorts on the market.

Not only this, but others have praised the shorts for working “wonders” on their “confidence.”

One person said: “Perfect fit. Best ones I’ve bought so far. Quality fabric.”

Another added: “Comfortable, soft, does not show lines, true to size, the best product for tummy control.”

Why Everyone Is Loving M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.

“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.

“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.

“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.

“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.

“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.

“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”

A third commented: “These are the best replacement ‘Spanx’ ever! I have purchased several thigh slimmers from various stores and none have been suitable.

“These ones are comfortable, don’t ride up and aren’t too tight on the waist. I’ve bought another pair. Highly recommend.”

Not only this, but someone else beamed: “Fabulous… they are very comfortable, when worn hides all the lumps and bumps without feeling like you have been squeezed into them. And at a very real price.”

The thigh slimming aspect has two benefits: thighs are slimmed and there is absolutely no danger of VPL

Online shopper

Meanwhile, another happy M&S shopper shared: “I am finding these to be a bonus in my wardrobe. The light control aspect of these pants adds a certain firmness to my derrière. Being of a certain age, I’m always glad of a little support.

“The thigh slimming aspect has two benefits: thighs are slimmed and there is absolutely no danger of VPL. I like to wear floaty, lightweight trousers in the summer and these pants do wonders for my confidence.

“I purchased two sets, so I’m never without an option of wearing them. Even under a lightweight dress or skirt, they are slightly slimming and smoothing. I wear a skin toned shade that is perfect under light as well as dark fabrics.”

Hottest fashion trends of 2025

Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street.

The East/West Bag

Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s’ shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber.

In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder.

They’ve been on runway models’ arms at nearly ever designer show – think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta – and are hitting the high street now, too.

Powder pink

Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025.

Pantone may say that it’s the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own.

If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour.

The shell jacket

The ’80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025.

We all know we’re likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket.

Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in ‘80s windbreakers’.

Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion!

The turn-up jeans

While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we’re styling them is different.

This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups.

For this look, size doesn’t matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good – but only as it’s just one single fold.

Peep-toe shoe

Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event.

After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style.

From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street.

Sheer blouses

See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life – until now.

Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S ’25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season.

Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.

Haunting Night in Chachoengsao: Young Earn’s Brave Confrontation with Domestic Turmoil

In the serene corners of Chachoengsao province, what should have been a peaceful night turned into a harrowing ordeal for a young girl named Earn. Her fear of the dark night and ghostly visions led her to an unexpected confrontation with her father, who, under the influence of alcohol, transformed the home into a scene of tension and chaos. It all began when Earn, a vibrant primary school student with an academic record as bright as her smile, hesitated to use the bathroom after dark. Her reluctance was not without reason, stemming from the tales and whispers of phantoms lurking in the shadows. However, for her father, Jamnan, who had had a few too many drinks, this was an affront to his paternal authority. In a reckless outburst, he resorted to using a bamboo stick to express his misplaced frustration. The matter might have remained hidden behind closed doors if…

Mystery Man Ball’s Arrest in Prachuap Khiri Khan Uncovers Shockingly Lavish Lifestyle

In a scene reminiscent of a crime thriller, the quiet town of Prachuap Khiri Khan was shaken by the arrest of a mysterious figure known only as Ball. It all started with whispers and sideways glances from neighbors, who couldn’t wrap their heads around the lavish lifestyle of Ball, a man of mystery who paraded luxury motorcycles with no tangible source of income in sight. Perhaps curiosity really did kill the cat, because the whispers transformed into calls to the local authorities, and those calls set an extraordinary chain of events into motion. The spotlight was cast on Ball today, June 19, as Police Colonel Phaitoon Promkhian, Pol. Col. Khranchit Khawattachai, and an assembly of local officers orchestrated a dramatic raid on Ball’s humble abode, conjuring images of a Hollywood movie right in Ao Noi, Mueang district. His residence, tucked above a car accessory shop, appeared innocuous, yet the array…
