‘Done more in 12 months…’ – Luke Littler furiously hits back at former World Darts champion’s MBE dig in deleted post

FUMING Luke Littler has slammed darts legend Dennis Priestley for suggesting he does not deserve his MBE due to his age.

Two-time world champion Priestley, 74, claimed Littler and world No.1 Luke Humphries “let their country down” following their dismal exit from the PDC World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt

Littler shared his furious response before later deleting it[/caption]

The English pair were red-hot favourites to claim the title on their maiden appearance together but they surprisingly lost to Germany in the quarter-finals.

That result came the day after it was announced the two Lukes – the top two in the world – were going to receive recognition in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

Straight-talking Yorkshireman Priestley said in a chat with a bookmaker that neither player had “done enough to earn their MBEs just yet”.

He added: “When I was playing in pairs with Phil Taylor we practised together and sat together, we played all over the world and I only remember us getting beaten once.

“In time they could’ve done enough to warrant it but it feels very early.

Littler has been recognised for raising the popularity of darts which is great but he can still do so much more.

“If he is getting an MBE this soon then you’d have to think he is on the right path to a knighthood, nothing would surprise me now.”

This jibe angered 18-year-old Littler – the reigning PDC world champion – who posted a short but pointed response on Instagram.

The Nuke screenshotted an article that contained the quotes and captioned it with his response.

He said: “Don’t deserve an MBE but done more in 12 months than he ever did…

“That’s what I would say anyway.”

He has since deleted the post.

Littler is the most recognisable figure in the sport and his Instagram account mushroomed to 1.9 million followers shortly after he burst on to the scene in December 2023.

His next appearance on the oche will be at the bet365 US Darts Masters, which will be held on June 27-28 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Littler, meanwhile, has teamed up with fast food giant McDonald’s to launch a brand new burger.

The ‘Big Arch’ is one of five new additions to the McDonald’s summer menu launched on Wednesday.

Priestley has also offered some advice to Littler which relates to the deals he has been handed away from the oche.

He said: “Luke Littler’s team needs to shield him from all distractions and make sure he gets all the best advice because he is still so young.

“I hope he reads this because my advice would be it’s not about how much money you earn now, it’s about how much you’ve kept when your career comes to an end.

“He has his head screwed on but the important thing is that the darts remains the priority rather than all the sponsorship deals he keeps being offered.”

Watch the moment Love Island villa reaches boiling point as huge row kicks off – and couple sneak off to the Hideaway

LOVE Island erupts into chaos tonight as a huge row kicks off after two Islanders sneak off to the Hideaway and secrets come to light.

On tonight’s show, Harry and Yasmin struggle to fight their attraction to one another, with Harry telling her that he fancies her.

Yasmin tells Harry: “I’m just sort of waiting for you to shut up the f*** up and kiss me.”

Harry admits to her: “I’m one of the few people open to getting to know new people, and actually doing it.”

Yasmin replies: “I feel like you have to be bold in here. I like someone who’s a bit of a risk-taker and isn’t afraid.”

Harry says: “Yeah, you’re making me want to take some risks right now.”

They pair then sneak off to the Hideaway, which leaves Helena, who is currently coupled up with Harry, reeling.

She says to the group: “They’re kissing in there.”

Harry then rejoins them after and says he and Yasmin “only had a chat”.

Helena then asks him directly if he kissed Yasmin, to which he denies, but a sceptical Helena still brands him a “liar”.

Later that evening, the Islanders gather for another game at the Firepit – where they must each take a card, read the quote that’s written on it and then collectively decide which of their fellow Islanders said it.

With things already tense between Shakira and Ben, things go from bad to worse when their quotes about each other are read out to the group.

Shea reads: “I don’t know if the conversation is stimulating for my brain, I’m quite a smart girl.”

After it’s confirmed it was Shakira discussing Ben, Shakira says: “I wanted to chat to you about that tonight.”

Ben replies: “Well, it’s an open discussion!”

When Shakira explains her thinking, Ben doesn’t agree. Later, his own quote about Shakira is read out by Yasmin, which states: “I don’t know where she’s at, I don’t know if she’s a respectful girl, I feel like she’s a very flirty girl that didn’t know her boundaries.”

Shakira tells Ben: “Pipe down.”

The focus is also firmly on Dejon and Harry as their quotes are read out to the group, with the Islanders becoming more shocked as their secrets and comments come to light.

Conor reads out a comment from Dejon that ruffles Meg’s feathers.

Dejon previously told the boys about Yasmin: “She’s never orgasmed, so if I give her her first orgasm, then she’ll fall in love.”

After Conor read out the comment, Yasmin says to the group: “I mean, if you can make me orgasm, fair play. I probably will fall in love.”

Things go from bad to worse when Remell reads out a comment from Harry about kissing Yasmin.

Helena yells: “What the f*** is going on here?”

Megan exclaims: “He tells you f*** all and that’s why, you need to find out and hear it for yourself.”

Harry is then grilled by Helena and Meg over whether he was lying about not kissing Yasmin earlier in the Hideaway.

Was Harry telling the truth?

Whether you’re trying to improve your sight, or test your IQ, this puzzle will prove a challenge to many readers.

Put your observation skills to the test and figure out whether you have what it takes to spot the four differences in just a few seconds.

However, hawk-eyed readers will immediately be able to spot that this is not the case.

There are actually four subtle differences between the two images.

Unless you’re lucky enough to find the four differences immediately, we recommend analysing the image very closely to spot the answers.

The visual deception of this image will have you peeling your eyes, but the payoff is worth it.

If you need a hint, we recommend first focusing on the top half of the image.

Two differences can be found between the walls of the two images.

Another tricky brainteaser challenges readers to find the image of Elon Musk that is different to the rest in under 15 seconds.

And if you’re looking for more of a challenge, this mind boggling illusion tasks readers to locate the hidden zero among the sea of sixes.

If that’s not hard enough, try searching for the three tiny differences between these two images of a man fishing.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

Engaging in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Some benefits include:

Strange feature spotted on new Real Madrid kit as Adidas make unintended addition for Club World Cup

EAGLE-EYED fans have spotted an accidental addition to Real Madrid’s new kit.

Adidas unveiled the Spanish club’s new kit ahead of the Club World Cup.

Fans spotted a clear line across the lower torso[/caption]

As always, the Real Madrid home strip is white with stylish black and gold trim.

But supporters noticed a strange mark on the shirt when the players modelled the kit for promo photos.

A bizarre horizontal line can be clearly seen across the lower torso.

Some fans even spotted it on the away and goalkeeper jerseys too.

Plenty have speculated what has caused the mark and many reckon it has come from the heat press used to print on the names and numbers.

The authentic fabric used by Adidas in their premium shirts is said to be sensitive material that could “slightly shrink or stretch”.

Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal yesterday in their Club World Cup opener.

Fans were looking out for the mystery line and some believe they could see it on Thibaut Courtois and Dean Huijsen’s shirts.

Xabi Alonso’s side are back in action against Mexican club Pachuca on Sunday night.

They then end the group stage with a clash versus Austrian outfit RB Salzburg.

But they may have to do it without main man Kylian Mbappe, who has been taken to hospital due to acute gastroenteritis.

Symptoms of the condition include diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, loss of appetite and abdominal pain and cramping.

Aldi’s £2.49 buy will protect your garden and home from swarms of ants and insects this summer

SUMMER might mean warmer weather and backyard parties, but it also brings the onslaught of annoying bugs.

As we start spending more time outdoors and in our gardens, it is essential to have the best protection to keep pesky insects at bay.

Zero In ant and crawling insect killer spray.
Aldi’s budget friendly insect and ant repellent spray

Now, Aldi has the perfect solution thanks to its £2.49 insect spray.

The budget friendly spray kills ants and crawling insects on contact, but also works to help against repeat infestations.

The German supermarket has had plenty of gadgets on offer this summer to keep yards bug-free.

It also recently sold a £7.49 Adventuridge Bug Zapper that can kill insects in an instant.

Its UV light lures in bugs before killing them instantly.

The lantern comes in two colours – blue or black – so it will match any garden furniture you already have.

Plus its built-in carabiner means you can attach it to a garden shed or gazebo.

While the bug zapper was only around while stocks lasted, there are plenty of garden hacks people can employ in order to keep ants and insects away.

One woman recently  took to her TikTok page to shared her clever way to stop the pests ruining outdoor feasts this summer, and it’s entirely chemical free.

The clip showed a cup sitting on the table, with smoke coming off it, as Dil explained she was shown the clever trick when she went to a restaurant in Cyprus.

“Little hack for you, a little bit of Turkish coffee and coal when you’ve got the barbecue on stops the flies coming around your food,” she said in the video.

And while Dil used Turkish coffee – a finely ground coffee known for its texture – for the hack, you can use any ground coffee for it to work.

Meanwhile, another expert has explained that as well as being annoying, flies can pose a serious health risk – as they can transfer bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli onto food and preparation surfaces.

According to Pest-Stop‘s technical training manager Sophie Thorogood, there are some tips to follow to keep the unwelcome guests at bay.

Firstly, it’s important to keep your home – and your garden – clean.

Two-time former Wimbledon champion, 35, announces retirement just days before start of tournament

PETRA KVITOVA will appear at Wimbledon for the final time after announcing plans to retire at the end of the tennis year.

The Czech ace won the singles Championship in south-west London on two occasions, in 2011 and 2014, and is a member of the All England Club.

Kvitova, 35, opened the new Andy Murray Arena at Queen’s last week[/caption]

The 35-year-old was handed a wildcard for the 2025 Championships as she has dropped down to 572nd in the world rankings.

Her inactivity can be explained by the fact she gave birth to son Petr in July 2024 and she has only won one of her seven matches this calendar year.

Kvitova will say goodbye to the sport following the conclusion of the US Open – where she has twice made the quarter-finals – and it is fair to assume New York chiefs will hand her a wildcard, too.

Her career was badly affected in December 2016 when she was attacked by a knife-wielding man, who entered her flat on the pretence he needed to inspect her boiler.

The former world No.2 suffered severe wounds to her left hand in the fight to free herself and in March 2019, the culprit, Radim Zondra, was sentenced to eight years in jail.

When she returned to the sport five months after the ordeal, she said she was “fortunate to be alive” and doctors never expected her to play at the top level again.

She also won an Olympic bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Games, reached the 2019 Australian Open final – where she lost in three sets to Naomi Osaka – and was part of six Billie Jean King Cup-winning squads for her country.

In an Instagram post, the left-hander said: “Growing up in my hometown of Fulnek and hitting the first tennis balls with my father on the local courts, I never imagined becoming a professional tennis player.

“Being able to travel the world, and playing in the most beautiful stadiums around the world.

“And sure enough… somehow all of that became a reality, and so much more.

“I’ve been privileged to reach incredible heights over the past 19 years since becoming a professional tennis player.

“From winning my two Wimbledon Championships, bringing home six Billie Jean King Cup trophies for the Czech Republic, reaching the world No.2 ranking and so much more.

“I’ve accomplished more than I could have ever imagined and I’m so grateful to everything that tennis has given me all these years.
“It has taught me countless lessons, not only on the court or in the gym, but also in life.

“I’d never be whom I am today without this beautiful sport and everything it has given me both on and off the court.

“As will all phases in life, there comes a day that it is time for a new chapter, and that time for me has come now.

“I therefore wanted to share with you that 2025 is my last season on tour as a professional.

“I’m excited and very much looking forward to soaking in the beauty of playing The Championships, Wimbledon one more time, a place that holds the most cherished memories in my career for me.

“And while I’m not entirely sure yet what my hardcourt swing in the US will look like, I’m intending to finish my active playing career at the US Open in New York later this summer.

“While no such decision is ever easy to make, for me this is a happy moment!

“I’ll leave the sport with the biggest smile on my face – the same smile you’ve seen from me on and off court throughout my whole career.

“Through all these years, I’m so incredibly thankful for the unwavering support of my family, my closest friends, my team, and all the incredible fans that have always supported me around the world over all these years.

“I could not have asked or wished for anything more – tennis has given me everything I have today, and I will continue to be forever grateful to this beautiful sport that I love.”

Glammed up gals in bold brights & eye popping fascinators turn heads at Royal Ascot as they enjoy the sun for Ladies Day

ROYAL Ascot is in full swing and the spotlight is as much on the fashion as it is on the racing.

From daring headpieces to elegant gowns, the event has become a showcase of creativity and style.

Each year, this iconic event attracts over 250,000 visitors across five days[/caption]

Day four brings a vibrant mix of tradition and modern glamour, with celebrities, socialites, and even royalty embracing the festive atmosphere.

As champagne flows and laughter fills the air, the racecourse becomes a runway, with guests revelling in the spirit of this iconic British event.

Every corner of Ascot is alive with colour and sophistication, making it a day to remember for fashion enthusiasts and racing fans alike.

Race goers will be able to experience the thrill and elegance of Ladies Day at Royal Ascot.

Each year the royal family flocks to Ascot to witness the action.

However, yesterday the Princess of Wales pulled out of Royal Ascot at the last minute as she continues her cancer recovery.

It is understood that Kate, 43, was “disappointed” that she wasn’t going but “has to find the right balance” on returning to full time duty.

She attended Trooping the Colour and Order of the Garter in recent days plus a visit to V&A East Storehouse last week.

Known as the pinnacle of British horse racing, Royal Ascot is not just about the thrilling sport but also a celebration of style, tradition, and culinary indulgence.

Each year, this iconic event attracts over 250,000 visitors across five days, offering an unforgettable experience steeped in history and glamour.

Dress to Impress

Fashion takes centre stage at Royal Ascot, with each enclosure offering its unique sartorial expectations.

The prestigious Royal Enclosure demands the highest level of formality.

Gentlemen are required to don morning suits complete with top hats, while ladies must adhere to a refined dress code: dresses or skirts that fall just above the knee or longer, straps of at least one inch in width, and, of course, a statement hat is non-negotiable.

For those in the Queen Anne Enclosure, the dress code is still elegant but slightly more relaxed, allowing for a touch of personal flair.

Meanwhile, the Windsor Enclosure is the most informal of the three.

Although there’s no strict dress code here, smart attire is encouraged to maintain the event’s sophisticated atmosphere.

A Historic Beginning

Royal Ascot has a fascinating history that dates back to 1711.

It all began when Queen Anne, during a ride from Windsor Castle, came across a piece of land she thought was perfect for horse racing, describing it as “ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch.”

This marked the birth of Ascot Racecourse.

The first Royal Meeting was held in 1768, and over the years, it has grown into Britain’s most iconic racing event, blending centuries-old tradition with the excitement and glamour of the modern day.

The Daily Schedule

Each day at Royal Ascot is meticulously planned to ensure a seamless blend of racing and pageantry.

Gates open at 10:30am, with the much-anticipated royal procession taking place at 2pm, a moment that sets the tone for the day’s festivities.

Racing enthusiasts can look forward to seven nail-biting races, starting at 2:30pm and concluding at 6:10pm.

Beyond the Racing: A Feast for the Senses

Royal Ascot is not just a sporting event; it’s a feast for the senses. Culinary excellence is a hallmark of the occasion, with 350 chefs crafting an array of exquisite dishes.

Across the five days, guests will indulge in 220,000 handcrafted afternoon tea cakes, 7,300 Angus steaks, and 3,000 kilograms of salmon.

The Queen Anne Enclosure, in particular, offers a gastronomic treat at the 1768 Grill, where the renowned Argentinian restaurant Gaucho serves up mouthwatering steaks.

As for beverages, the statistics are as impressive as the event itself.

An estimated 65,000 bottles of Champagne and 100,000 bottles of wine are consumed, ensuring the celebrations flow as freely as the bubbly.

A Grand Affair

The scale of Royal Ascot is nothing short of extraordinary. In 2023, the event saw approximately 400 helicopters and 1,000 luxury cars ferrying guests to the racecourse.

On average, 60,000 attendees graced the grounds each day, making it a true highlight of Britain’s social calendar.
