JORDAN SPIETH let out an ear-piercing groan as his Travelers Championship hopes ended with agonising injury at the 13th hole.

The three-time Major winner withdrew from the £15million tournament amid what he called “weird circumstances” on day one.

The ex-World No.1 revealed his back had earlier locked up.

The 31-year-old did all he could to battle on, having never pulled out of a tournament before.

But after struggling to five-over after 12 holes, he accompanied his 13th tee shot with a cry of pain that meant enough was enough – and hitched a ride on a buggy to depart the scene.

So the Ryder Cup star had to exit early from the final Signature Event of the season at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Earlier in the round Spieth had been spotted using a muscle massager on his upper back.

But he revealed his body had started to lock up even before that – during a warm-up on the ranges.

Spieth was keen to give the tournament a go because it’s a no-cut event with extra FedExCup points at stake.

He said after his unfortunate early ending: “Everything was great in my gym session, and I’ve been very, very excited to go out and play.

“Things have been getting better and better, and then my right scap [scapula on the upper back]  just kind of locked — like tightened midway through the warm-up.”

Spieth said the problem moved up “all of a sudden” – then was all across his back.

He ended his practice 30 minute early for treatment from a physio before starting the opening round.

Spieth explained his loud near-grunt of anguish by saying his 13th tee shot “legitimately really hurt”.

It meant he was “not going to be able to make a backswing that’s even useful, and that’s what happened on the [earlier] bunker shot.”

The Texan has just returned from wrist surgery but insisted his new injury was a surprise.

Spieth began the event at 37th in the season’s rankings – knowing that the top 70 in early August go into the FedExCup Playoffs and the top 50 make next year’s Signature Events.

He said his new setback was “incredibly frustrating” as he went into the Travelers Championship “very confident”.

Spieth added:” Everything I had done in practice and the pro-am showed me it’s going to be a really good event. 

“It’s just a very weird circumstance. It’s disappointing … we’re having a baby here in a couple weeks, so I’ll have some time off now, obviously, to get healthy.

“But hopefully, after a few days, I go through the right process to just get right back to where I was.”

A VILE sex predator carried a “rape kit” while posing as an Uber driver to attack his victims.

Graham Head was today found guilty of attempting to rape one woman and sexually assaulting another in attacks around Brighton and Hove.

In July 2023, the 68-year-old was sentenced to 23 years behind bars for kidnap, attempted rape and assault by penetration relating to two female victims.

But the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction in November 2024 after a complaint from the sex predator concerning the Judge who had ruled in the first trial.

Head appeared at Lewes Crown Court for his retrial today, where a jury again found him guilty of all counts.

The twisted fake taxi driver is set to be sentenced on August 25.

Shocking footage of Head’s arrest in 2022 showed the moment he was stopped by cops with a “rape” kit.

Jurors at Lewes Crown Court previously heard how a 25-year-old female victim had managed to read his number plate after being attacked.

The woman reported waking up in a car, which she thought was a taxi, to find a man sexually assaulting her.

She had gotten into the car earlier that night, to travel from Brighton to Hove.

The victim escaped at around 3am and called 999 to report being assaulted by a man in latex gloves and a Covid mask.

The court was told Head was a “sexual predator” who “slipped up” the night he was arrested.

In footage shown to jurors, police can be seen talking to the 68-year-old after pulling him over in Brighton.

As he is speaking, police decide to search his car where they found latex gloves, viagra, condoms and a balaclava that formed a rape kit.

When asked why he had the condoms and viagra, Head said: “I’m a normal red blooded male”.

Police also found business cards advertising him as a “N-Uber driver” that had the slogan “Safe and Reliable – For All Occasions”.

Head was also found guilty of assaulting a 19-year-old woman he picked up near Hove Park.

She was pulled into bushes where the predator attempted to rape her, after the victim initially took a lift from him.

The two attacks took place in the early hours of August 19 and November 18, 2022.

Detective Constable Elliott Lander from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “Graham Head has twice tried to evade justice for his despicable crimes, and now twice been convicted by separate juries.

“His refusal to accept responsibility for his offending has forced his victims to relive the traumatic attacks carried out by him. The impact on them and their families cannot be overstated, and I commend all involved for their strength and courage in such challenging circumstances.

“Head will remain in prison, as he has throughout this process, as we await resentencing.”

One of Head’s victims, a 25-year-old woman, tragically passed away last year.

Her heartbroken mum released the following emotional statement: “Regardless of the outcome of this trial and independently of the jury’s verdicts on each of the charges that Graham Head has just faced, I want to say a few words on behalf of my daughter.

“My (only) daughter tragically died in late 2024 – a couple days after being informed by the CPS that Graham Head had been successful in appealing his conviction for kidnap of my daughter and for causing serious sexual harm to her and to another even younger female victim.

“I feel strongly that I need to protect the anonymity of my own and my daughter’s friends and the families and friends of Graham Head’s victims.

“However, I want to recognise and say my own deep thanks for the strong and compassionate support that my daughter, myself, and our family have received from the Police, the CPS, the witness service, and the Courts over the past two years.

“This retrial process has been tremendously difficult and a huge strain for all of us; we’re glad it is now over.

“I’m especially grateful for the attuned support of the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT) and the Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy (ISVA) service who supported my daughter every step of the way through the challenges of bringing this man to justice on both trials.

“Looking to my family’s future following my daughter’s death, my biggest hope is that other families can now hopefully feel much safer knowing that this dangerous man is no longer able to predate and attack any other vulnerable young local woman thanks to his deserved (re)conviction for these appalling offences.

“My other hope is that, if there are other young women who feel they may have narrowly escaped or fallen victim to this sexual predator, then they will hopefully be reassured by my daughter’s and our family’s experience that they will be listened to, supported, and well cared for by the Police and Court systems.”

But he recently discovered that a bus route goes past his home, which allows people onboard the bus to see in.

Because of this, the iconic DJ has had to take a drastic measure.

Calvin has had to install one way glass to preserve his privacy and keep his family life out of the public eye.

The reflective glass allows him to see out, but no-one to see in.

The Daily Mail reports that the new glass was visible this week as scaffolding was removed from the newly-built abode.

He has also reportedly bought two neighbouring homes, as per reports.

Calvin and Radio 1 presenter Vick Hope are due to move into the newly-built and adapted home later this summer.

Architect Ben Pentreath, a favourite of the royals, designed the property which will be completed this year.

A source previously told the paper: “There’s no expense spared and it’s going to be amazing.”

The happy couple, who tied the knot on their Ibiza farm in 2023, will become parents later this year, it was recently revealed.

And the couple’s new home, which Calvin purchased in 2019, looks to be the ideal family home.

At the end of May, Vick shared the news of her pregnancy live on Radio 1.

On air, she told Jamie Laing: “I should probably also say this is my final week before I go on maternity leave.”

Former Made In Chelsea star Jamie then told her: “You’re an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you’re just going to be an amazing mum,.”

She replied: “Oh, thank you.”

Vick appeared to celebrate her baby shower a couple of weeks ago as she shared a picture playing a baby shower game – during a meal with friends.

A LEATHERBACK turtle swaps tropical waters to prey on jellyfish off Devon.

The 7ft reptile was spotted gliding past Petra and Mike Threlfall’s boat on Wednesday.

Petra, who was also with daughter Molly just 550 yards from Branscombe, said: “We saw an unusual movement and thought it was a dolphin at first.

“But when its head popped up, it was clearly much bigger. We were so shocked when we realised it was a leatherback turtle.

“We turned off the engine and he was so inquisitive, swimming about and eating jellyfish.

“One movement of his huge flippers and he was gone.”

Petra, of Taunton, Somerset, added: “We feel so lucky to have seen it up so close.”

Charlie Hankin saw the turtle 200 yards off Seaton, describing the encounter as “incredible”.

Leatherbacks are usually found in the Caribbean, Med and Canaries.

But with sea temperatures rising, this one ventured much farther north.

They are the largest turtles at 7ft and 2,000lb and take their name from their dark, leather-like skin.

They can regulate their bodies to maintain heat in colder waters where there are plenty of jellyfish.

Until the much-anticipated gangster film is released, fans will have to take an upcoming return to a franchise Murphy once led.

28 Years Later is the third instalment in the 28-film series and will take audiences through the journey of survival with a brand new set of survivors trying to make it through the zombie apocalypse.

The cast for this film includes Aaron Taylor Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes.

However, Cillian played a pivotal role in getting this latest instalment made as he starred in the first film of the franchise.

He is also serving as an executive producer on this film, frequently dropping in on the movie’s set.

Speaking to FM104 Strawberry Alarm Clock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, one of the film’s stars opened up on his experience working with Cillian Murphy.
