The 7 major holiday hotspots you’ll get a fine of up to £5,600 for vaping – are you heading to one this summer?

VAPING has soared in popularity over the past few years, with users attracted to the brightly coloured packaging and enticing sweet flavours.

However, the UK has begun a crackdown on the smoking alternatives, banning single-use vapes earlier this month to stop children getting hooked on the devices and to protect the environment.

This map shows the seven holiday hotspots where users can be fined for vaping[/caption]

And the UK isn’t the only country to enforce laws against vaping, with some of the most visited countries in the world dishing out fines of up to £5600 for using electronic cigarettes.

Are you travelling to one of these holiday hotspots this summer?

Spain

Spain is the country visited most frequently by sun-seeking Brits, but it has strict regulations when it comes to vaping.

Although vaping is legal in the sunny nation, any Brits caught vaping on beaches will be find 200 euros (£168).

And vaping indoors has an even heftier fine of up to 500 euros (£420).

United States

Vaping in the US is legal for those over 21 but laws vary from state to state.

For example, in Texas vaping is banned in all enclosed public spaces, with those breaking the rules facing a fine of £148.

In Illinois, vaping is banned in all indoor places, with rule breakers facing fines of £185.

Turkey

In Turkey, the sale of vapes and e-liquids are banned, however, you are able to bring your own vapes on holiday with you.

You must be over the age of 19 to vape, and vaping is banned in all enclosed public areas, the same as smoking.

Anyone caught vaping or smoking in public indoor space will face a fine of around £35.

Italy

In Italy, it is legal to use and purchase vapes if you are over the age of 18.

However, the use of electronic cigarettes is banned everywhere that smoking is, such as in enclosed public spaces, on public transport and in open air spaces near minors or pregnant women.

Fines for breaking these rules vary across the country, ranging from £23.50 to £234.

The 4 horrifying things that can happen to your body after vaping

VAPES were once hailed as miracle devices to help adults ditch cigarettes.

But while the devices don’t carry the same risks as tobacco, experts have warned that vaping might not be so harmless after all.

Here are five ways vaping could damage young users bodies:

1. It could slow down brain development

Vaping nicotine can permanently affect brain development in people under the age of 25, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It said that nicotine consumed during teenage years can harm the parts of the brain that control attention, learning, mood, and impulse control, as well as increase the risk of addiction.

2. It could lead to tooth decay

Dr Michael Heffernan, a dentist at The Wessex Dental Specialist Care, said most vapes contain dangerous chemical that can harm your teeth and lead to decay.

Puffing on the devices could also lead to mouth dryness, creating an environment in which harmful bacteria can grow.

3. It could damage heart health

However, some of the chemicals found in vapes can be damaging to the heart, with the American Heart Association (AHA) stating that vaping is “as harmful to the body’s cardiovascular systems as cigarettes”.

4. It could cause lung disease

Vaping from a young age could leave children with breathing difficulties, with paediatric respiratory consultant Dr Mike McKean saying he’d seen reports of people developing lung disease related to vaping.

Researchers from the US also found that young people who vape are more at risk of bronchitis, inflammation of the airways, and shortness of breath.

Read more on how vaping can affect your health here.

Mexico

In Mexico there is a total ban on the sale import and distribution of vapes.

Using vapes for personal use is often treated as a grey area, but bringing vapes into the country is classed as importing, which is illegal.

Fines for vaping in public range from £37 to £222.

Japan

In Japan, e-cigarettes containing nicotine have been banned since 2010.

Vapes without nicotine in them are legal for anyone regardless of age, as there are no laws against them.

Anyone caught vaping outside designated areas could be hit with a fine of up to £5600.

Thailand

In Thailand, there is a total ban on vapes, under strict laws which have been in place since 2014.

Anyone caught using a vape could face up to five years in prison, and a fine of four times the product’s value.

Axed Coronation Street star confirms she’s staying on the cobbles for over TWO years despite falling victim to cast cull

ONE of Coronation Street’s axed stars has revealed that she will be staying put with the show for a number of years despite being binned off by bosses.

Actress Sue Devaney was confirmed to have been axed last year and it was soon revealed that her exit would form part of a long-running dementia storyline.

Debbie is facing a lengthy dementia battle on the cobbles[/caption]

When the news was revealed in late 2024, it was thought that Sue’s exit could play out in early 2026 after it was said that she would still be in the programme beyond 2025.

However, in a new interview, Sue has confirmed that her stint is MUCH longer than anyone anticipated.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV breakfast show, the Debbie Webster actress clarified that she would be with the show until 2027 before her character succumbs to the tragic condition.

Sue said to the Scottish TV host: “Well, I know this story is going to go on well into 2027.

“Debbie is not going anywhere!”

On-screen, Debbie found out she was living with early on-set vascular dementia earlier this year.

At present, only her brother Carl is aware of the devastating diagnosis.

It has so far been seen to impact Debbie heavily causing her to act erratically, suffer severe mood-swings as well as forgetfulness and clumsiness.

Debbie’s condition is expected to worsen over the next 24 months before her eventual exit from the ITV soap – much to the dismay of fans.

Petitions began to circulate when her axing was revealed in order to reverse the decision by bosses with many insisting that Debbie was Coronation Street’s strongest character amid an ongoing period of criticism for the fledgling soap.

The Sun previously told how Sue was left devastated over being axed from the show.

News of her exit left the actress blindsided, with a source telling The Sun:  “Sue was very shocked when she discovered she was being killed off.

“She was initially very sad and then furious and then upset again.  It’s taken her a long time to come to terms with it.

“She had no intention to leave the show and couldn’t believe it when they called her in and broke the news.”

She is one of many names to leave the programme alongside Colson Smith, Luca Toolan, Shelley King, Charlotte Jordan, Sue Cleaver, Daniel Brocklebank, Helen Worth, Paddy Bever and Katy Cavanagh.

Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

Colson Smith – Craig Tinker

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.

Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw

After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.

Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe

Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.

Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster

In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley

The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.

Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe

The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

Thanks to these handy tips from a Store Manager at a Superdrug store in Godalming, Surrey, your tan is sure to turn heads this summer.

Not only will your glow be better than ever thanks to four high-street products, but a £5.49 beauty buy is a must if you’re searching for a glow that’s not patchy.

Posting on social media, a self-proclaimed “fake tan fanatic” from Superdrug shared the super simple tanning routine, leaving many totally stunned.

There’s four products you’ll need – an exfoliator, an instant tan, a gradual tan and a face mist.

Sharing the step-by-step advice, the brunette recommended: “First things first, we definitely have to get rid of our old fake tan, or at least exfoliate.”

The Superdrug employee recommended the Extracts Body Scrubs, which have currently been reduced to just £2.89 from £5.99 and are available in a range of scents.

Not only does the Cherry Blossom Body Scrub “smell unreal”, but according to the product listing, it works to “help gently exfoliate dull and dead skin cells, revealing softer and smoother skin.”

Next up, the Superdrug employee shared: “Then, the main event is the Solait Tanning Mousse – I like the Ultra Dark one as I like a dark tan, but they do so many different variations and this gives you such a nice colour.”

The Solait Self Tan Express Mousse is only £5.99 and is said to be a “lightweight, fast-absorbing formula” that develops in up to one hour.

Following this, the beauty guru swore by her favourite tanning moisturiser – the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk, which is priced at £15.99.

She beamed: “This is really, really good to put on after you’ve fake tanned – it’s a really nice colour.”

Finally, the Superdrug employee shared her favourite facial tanning product – the St Moriz Coconut Paradise Anti Break Out Face Mist, which is only £5.49.

Fake Tan Lovers Guide to Applying it Streak-Free

Here’s Fabulous ultimate guide to a flawless, streak-free fake tan that will leave you looking like you’ve just stepped off the beach...

Preparation is Key

A streak-free tan starts with proper skin prep. Exfoliate your skin thoroughly 24 hours before application. Focus on rough areas like elbows, knees and ankles to ensure an even canvas. Opt for an exfoliator with natural ingredients to avoid irritation.

Hydration Station

Moisturise your entire body right after exfoliating, but pay extra attention to dry patches. On the day of tanning, only apply a light, oil-free moisturiser to these areas a few hours before you plan to tan. This prevents the tan from clinging to dry spots and developing unevenly.

Formulate, Don’t Hate

Selecting the right fake tan product can make all the difference. Mousse formulas are easiest to apply and blend. Tanning drops can be added to your regular face moisturiser to match your face with your body.

Application O’Clock

Using a tanning mitt is non-negotiable for an even application. Dispense a small amount of product onto the mitt and apply in long, sweeping motions. Start from your ankles and work your way up to avoid creases. Apply sparingly on joints and use a fluffy make-up brush for your hands and feet.

Post-Tan Care

Once you’ve applied your tan, allow it to dry completely before dressing. Loose, dark clothing is best to avoid transferring colour. Avoid water and sweat for at least six to eight hours while the tan develops. After your first rinse, pat your skin dry gently and moisturise daily to prolong your tan.

Thrilled with the bargain buy which combines self-tan and skincare and works to help prevent breakouts and unclog pores, the woman beamed: “It gives your skin a really nice natural glow, without being patchy.”

Fake tan fans beam

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @superdruggodalming, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 116,800 views.

Not only this, but it’s also amassed 4,078 likes, 31 comments and 1,725 saves.

  • Review: “This product give a very natural looking tan and if you wanted something a bit bolder, I’d suggest leaving it on longer or choosing a darker shade. I’m impressed with the results, but now my entire room stinks of the stuff.  If you’re on a budget and want a tan for last-minute plans, I would say this is one to try. “

  • Tester: Josie O’Brien, Senior Fabulous Digital Writer
  • Review: “The first thing that hit me about this tan was the “juicy watermelon” scent – it’s delicious. I was left with a natural bronze hue rather than orange glow. My only qualm is that the tan seemed to stick to my dry patches and accentuated ‘strawberry skin’ on my legs. I’m still adding this tan to my arsenal though – the smell, colour and texture are dreamy.”

St Moriz Professional Medium Tanning Mousse – £4.99 – Buy Now

  • Tester:  Kate Kulniece, Fabulous Writer
  • Review: “Not only does St. Moriz mousse leave you with a gorgeous bronzed glow, but it also smells fabulous – think Piña Colada on a sunny beach. At first, I was a little bit sceptical cause I’m a gradual fake tan girlie, but this quick developing St. Moriz number may change it all.”

One person said: “A flawless routine.”

Another added: “Those exfoliators are unreal!”

A third simply commented: “SLAY.”

Meanwhile, someone else beamed: “This tan is literally amazing!!!”

‘Invisible’ iPhone setting blocks spam & scam calls automatically – but it only appears if you make little-known change

Illustration of iPhone screens showing recent calls and a bank scam alert.

BLOCK scam calls in an instant with a hidden iPhone setting that very few people know about.

Spam phone calls aren’t just annoying – they can also be a dangerous tactic by criminals to steal your info or money.

You can set your iPhone up to screen calls using a list of known scam and spam numbers[/caption]

Some unlucky phone owners will be plagued by dozens of these dodgy calls every single week.

But there’s a little-known iPhone setting that can block out calls from these numbers automatically.

It’s called Call Blocking & Identification, but it’s invisible on your phone – at least until you download the right app.

Once you download a call ID app, the feature will then show up in your settings.

There are loads of call ID apps out there.

They maintain giant databases of phone numbers that are known to be linked to spam or scam operations.

So once you’ve got the app and the feature switched on, your calls will be screened to see if there’s a match with a dodgy database.

That way, you can avoid having to put up with non-stop spam calls.

HOW TO TURN IT ON

First, you’ll need to go to the official Apple App Store and download some call ID apps.

Some popular options are Truecaller and Whoscall, but there are loads out there.

And the more you have installed, the greater your chance of catching a dodgy number.

Once you’ve downloaded them, you can go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification.

This setting will only appear if you have at least one call ID apps installed.

Chose the option to Silence Junk Callers (which works based on your carrier) and then activate any Call Identification apps that you’ve installed.

TRY SILENCING UNKNOWN CALLERS

Here's another trick that's worth trying...

You can actually set your iPhone up to silence all phone calls from unknown callers.

If you turn the setting on, unknown callers will be sent straight to voicemail.

Just go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls > Silence Unknown Callers and toggle it on.

Also, if you’ve got iOS 17 or later (go to Settings > General > Software Update to check) then you can read transcriptions of your voicemail so you don’t have to listen to them.

And they should show up in real-time as the voicemail is being left.

You’ll need to toggle them to the green “on” position for them to become active.

COMING SOON!

There’s another handy feature coming soon that will help you avoid even more phone scammers.

It’s called Call Screening, and it’s a new trick due out in the upcoming iOS 26 update for your iPhone.

That won’t be out until September at the earliest, but it’ll make a big difference.

iPhone screen showing call screening in progress.
A future iOS update will introduce a Call Screening feature that uses a robot to vet your calls for you

Once it’s out, go to Settings > General > Software Update to claim the new features.

Then when that’s installed, your phone will use a virtual AI robot to automatically screen your calls.

It will ask the person’s name and reason for calling – all using a robot voice – and then write out the answer for you in real-time on your screen.

Once that appears, you can decide whether to answer, or instead send it to voicemail if you think it’s a scam.

I laid on the beach for just ONE hour but was brutally sunburnt & I looked like a wasp-stung dog – don’t make my mistake

A WOMAN’S dream holiday turned into a horror story after one hour in the sun left her face so swollen she “looked like a dog with a wasp sting”.

Brandy Lovering was on a getaway with her boyfriend, Kyle, when the nightmare unfolded on the first day of their week-long trip.

What was supposed to be a relaxing break quickly spiralled into a medical emergency – with the 24-year-old’s face blistering and swelling so badly she could barely open her eyes after she suffered sun poisoning.

The unlucky tourist shared her ordeal to TikTok, where it has racked up a whopping 1.6m views.

“I was honestly thinking, what if I lose my eyesight or what if my face never goes back to normal?”, Brandy told NeedToKnow.

“I was so embarrassed leaving the hotel room, that I told my boyfriend I would never complain about a pimple or anything minor on my face ever again.

“My boyfriend said I looked so different, it was strange, but he was really sweet and a good sport about it which I appreciated.

“My friends thought I looked insane and they thought it was hilarious.

“I also got so many comments about my face [online], mainly from people saying I looked like a dog that had been stung by a wasp and how terrifying it was.

“I’ve also had an insane amount of negative comments on my TikTok about my stupidity and how it made me look.”

Brandy, who admits she never wears suncream, can recall her face feeling a little warm at first.

But soon, redness kicked in and small blisters started forming.

Brandy, who was holidaying in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, said: “Two small blisters on my forehead progressed into large blisters.

“Then I woke up with swelling on my face, mostly on the right side by my eye. The following day, both my eyes were completely swollen.

“The third day was the worst when my eyes were swollen shut.

“I knew immediately when I woke up that it was bad.

I tried to ride it out, but once my eyes were swollen, we had a doctor come to the hotel room

Brandy Lovering

“My whole face felt tight and stretched out like a balloon.

“The pain wasn’t bad – it was just the tightness and uncomfortable feeling around my eyes.

“It didn’t feel like sunburn, that’s why it was more shocking.

“My family were worried and wanted me to fly home ASAP.

“I tried to ride it out, but once my eyes were swollen, we had a doctor come to the hotel room.

“He gave me some medication and cream and a shot in my bum to alleviate the swelling.

“I wasn’t wearing sunscreen, which is honestly my fault, but I had never worn sunscreen prior to this, which is also my fault.

“I’ve since started wearing sunscreen every day.”

The holiday-goer’s recovery included several days of cold compresses, creams and rest.

Brandy, who hails from Vancouver, Canada, said: “It honestly just felt like a long game of waiting it out.

I was worried there would be a tonne of scarring

Brandy Lovering

“Luckily, I had no lasting damage which I’m so grateful for.

“I was worried there would be a tonne of scarring.

“I think because I was constantly reapplying the cream, it helped with that.

“Looking back, I 100% would have worn sunscreen and a hat.

“I now do not start my day without applying SPF50.

“Luckily I kept in good spirits the whole trip and tried to laugh it off.

“I’m happy I’m able to spread awareness about the importance of wearing sunscreen.”

The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine

Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.

The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.

“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.

“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”

But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.

Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.

Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.

Where is the Ayatollah? Madcap ‘Supreme Leader’ holed up in lair – but still an ‘easy target’ for Trump’s bunker busters

IRAN’S supreme leader has scurried away to an underground bunker in a Tehran suburb amid threats to his life, according to reports.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is believed to be cowering away in the secret lair as Israeli missile attacks rain down nearby.

Two informed sources inside the country told Iran International the country’s ageing dictator is holed up in the bunker in Lavizan, a neighbourhood in Tehran.

It is among the areas in Iran to have been rocked by explosions over the past few days.

Khamenei’s family are also with him, the sources added, including his son Mojtaba – who is seen as a potential heir to the supreme leader.

The Ayatollah also reportedly sought refuge in this bunker during Iranian strikes in April 2024 and October 2024.

It comes as the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate – and Donald Trump weighs up whether to get directly involved.

Both countries having fired missile barrages at each other over the past week.

Israel claims its attacks against Iran are necessary to stop it crafting a nuclear bomb – which Israeli officials claim is an imminent risk.

However, this view is disputed by some in the US intelligence world, and Iran insists its nuclear programme is peaceful.

Donald Trump withdrew from a nuclear deal with Iran and several other countries during his first term in 2018.

A diplomatic source told Iran International that Israel could have taken out Khamenei on the first night of its operations.

But Israel reportedly chose to give him a final chance to abandon Tehran’s uranium enrichment programme.

Trump will decide whether the US will get directly involved in a war with Iran within the next two weeks, the White House has said.

In a Truth Social Post, Trump said: “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding.

“He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.

“But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”

The US is currently the only country to wield 30,000lb “bunker buster” bombs that could take out underground targets beyond the reach of conventional munitions.

Trump claims he vetoed an Israeli proposal to assassinate Khamenei, according to US officials.

But one senior Israeli official has put out a strongly worded threat to the Iranian supreme leader.

Defence minister Israel Katz said: “Khamenei openly declares that he wants Israel destroyed – he personally gives the order to fire on hospitals.

“He considers the destruction of the state of Israel to be a goal. Such a man can no longer be allowed to exist.”

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel is ready to “remove” the nuclear threat from Iran.

Israel is itself widely believed to possess nuclear weapons, although the country maintains ambiguity over this.

However, other top Israeli figures have taken a more cautious tone on regime change.

President Isaac Herzog told Axel Springer Global Reporters: “We don’t have a goal on Khamenei, nor do we have a goal on regime change.

“But it could be historically a clear side effect of major historical consequences that will do good to the Iranian people.”

Russia, a close international partner of the Iranian regime, has said it would react “very negatively” if Khamenei is killed.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Sky News that the supreme leader’s assassination would “open the Pandora’s box”.
