Martinez is said to be on United’s transfer wishlist with fresh reports claiming the Red Devils have made contact with his agent.
Argentinian outlet Ole have revealed Martínez is open to a switch to Old Trafford.
Several clubs are interested in the World Cup winner but United are the only club to speak to his representatives.
And it has been suggested Villa will demand a £34million fee, which will likely go towards his replacement.
ESPN report Lille shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier has been lined up by Villa chiefs.
The French side are demanding £40m for the 23-year-old after Villa enquired about his availability.
United also considered a move for the France international, who attracted widespread attention with his performances in the Champions League last season.
The Red Devils have prioritised selling players in order to fund potential moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Bryan Mbeumo.

LEGENDARY flat trainer Kevin Prendergast, who won multiple Classics in Britain and Ireland, has died aged 92.
He took out his licence in 1963 and saddled his final runner at Cork last week, when Glory To Be finished second.
Kevin Prendergast has died aged 92 after a long and successful careerSportsfile - Subscription
Tributes have poured in for Prendergast, who spent his career in County Kildare and died two weeks short of his 93rd birthday.
Among them was top Irish jockey Chris Hayes, who was stable jockey to Prendergast and rode most of his big winners in recent years including Awtaad, who won the Irish 2,000 Guineas in 2016.
He said: “La Collina was my first Group 1 winner for Kevin, but Awtaad was the first horse that was mine – I inherited La Collina from Declan McDonogh.
“Obviously there were also some great days with Madhmoon who came after Awtaad. But Awtaad’s Guineas was phenomenal.
“It was the old Curragh and the cheer we got on the way in, I haven’t heard one like it since.
“I’ve been around a while and I never heard a cheer like that before that either and that cheer was all for Kevin and solely Kevin. People say it was for us, but it wasn’t, it was for Kevin.
“He’s a legend around Kildare and a legend in the racing game and people were 10 deep around the winner’s enclosure desperate to congratulate him.
“When I got the news this morning I couldn’t help but look back through some pictures from that day in the car. We had some phenomenal times together and today is a sad day.”
Another legendary trainer Dermot Weld, who was great friends with Prendergast, said: “He was a wonderful trainer. His horses were always turned out in supreme condition – you could always identify one of his by the way they were turned out and, even in the early days, they always won the best-turned-out award.
“He was an exceptional trainer of a two-year-old and had great longevity – and he trained a much smaller team of horses than is fashionable nowadays.
“He was a very, very talented trainer and naturally my sympathy goes out to his family.”
Born in Australia on July 5, 1932, Prendergast was educated in Ireland but kicked off his racing career back in the southern hemisphere, where he was head lad to top trainer Frank Dalton.
He held that position for three years before returning home to establish himself as a leading amateur rider while serving as assistant trainer to his father.
After five years, Prendergast decided to strike out on his own in 1963 – and he did not have to wait long for his inaugural success, saddling Zara to win at Phoenix Park in May that year.
Pidget was the first to claim Classic gold for him in the 1972 Irish 1,000 Guineas, before going on to add the Irish St Leger to her tally later on that year.
After that Prendergast sent out the likes of Conor Pass (1973) and Oscar Schindler (1996 and 1997) to win two more Irish Legers, while Arctique Royal gave him another 1,000 win and Northern Treasure gave him a first Irish 2,000 Guineas in 1976.
Add into the mix top-drawer juveniles La Collina, Miss Beatrix, Termagant and Kingsfort and you get a feel for the kind of longevity Prendergast enjoyed.
One of the most consistent trainers in the Irish ranks, Prendergast sent out his 2,000th career winner in 2010.
As well as Hayes, the likes of Gary Halpin and Declan McDonogh also rode for Prendergast, demonstrating that he was not just an exceptional instructor of horses.
The great Kieren Fallon began his riding career with Prendergast, serving as apprentice from 1982 to 1987 before moving on and eventually becoming a six-times champion jockey.

But Crawford – a three-weight world champ with 41 straight wins – says he and 67-fight icon Canelo are the real stars of the show.
He said: “Me and Canelo is the talent without me and Canelo this wouldn’t be happening.
“So me and Canelo are definitely making this event as massive as possible given the work and body of work that he’s put in the sport the body of work that I’ve put in the sport.
“The accomplishments that he has, the accomplishments that I have in the sport.
“So when you look at it, we did this together with the work that he did and the work that I did.”

The mutual respect extended to a dinner together with Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh – a day before their Riyadh launch press conference.
But Crawford promised to leave a bad taste in the ring as he said: “I don’t need no dislike to fight Canelo.
“I don’t need to hate him, I don’t need to dislike him. But come fight night, the dislike and the hatred will be there.”
Canelo has won titles in four divisions and remains the sport’s biggest draw after 20 years as a professional when he started aged 15.
Crawford meanwhile defends his prized undefeated record at the Las Vegas Raiders’ £1BILLION, 65,000-seat stadium.
And he dubbed it the most important fight of his life.
He said: “Everything is up for grabs. Three-time undisputed, three different weight classes, going up two weight divisions.
“Undefeated in the 168 division in Canelo Alvarez. Another all-time great, Hall of Famer in Canelo Alvarez. Everything is on the line in this fight.”
Canelo won back his undisputed throne at 168lb in May with a laboured win over Cuban William Scull, 32, in Saudi.
He faced off afterwards with Crawford, 37, who is yet to return since winning the 154 WBA belt last August against Israil Madrimov, 30.
And the Omaha hero – who has a street named after him in Nebraska – warned the pressure is shared between the superstar pair.
He said: “We both wanna win. I don’t see why it’s less pressure on me. I wanna win, I don’t wanna lose! I’m not gonna lose.
“I want to become undisputed in three weight classes.”

THE historic city of Cambridge is set to undergo major upgrades, including the restoration of an ancient fountain.
Known as the Civic Quarter project, the council is planning on upgrading the Cambridge Market, Corn Exchange and Guildhall at an estimated cost of £75million.

The Cambridge City Council has revealed plans for upgrades for the city, which is known for its top university, beautiful buildings and punting along the River Cam.
Locals have been invited to give feedback on the more detailed plans in preparation for a planning application which will be submitted in 2025.
The scheme, which would begin in October 2026 at the earliest, will see three areas of Cambridge upgraded.
The council website explained: “The ambition of the Civic Quarter project is to improve the experience of everyone visiting the city centre by creating more inclusive and accessible buildings, and better public spaces where people can meet and enjoy cultural events.”
It also added that the project will enhance heritage sites as well as reduce water use and carbon emissions.
The Cambridge Market is a huge part of the city, having begun operating in the Middle Ages.
It is currently open Monday to Saturday with around 100 stalls selling all sorts, from food to flowers, locally made clothes and accessories.
As part of the project, the market will open seven days a week and will have new permanent stalls alongside the temporary fixtures.
For passers-by there will be a new covered seating area and the size of the existing canopy will be reduced.
The historic fountain in the centre will be retained and restored to its former glory too.
AlamyThe fountain dates back to the 1600s but hasn’t been used in years[/caption]
Engage Cambridge Gov.ukThe Corn Exchange will have new bars and concessions[/caption]
The fountain is a long-standing feature of the city having been built in 1614 to give clean drinking water to the people of Cambridge.
It hasn’t had running water for a long time and is often used as seating by the public.
The Corn Exchange is a Grade II listed building which is used as an events and concert space and is also set to undergo some changes.
As it is listed not many changes can be made, but the venue will be improved with energy-saving features, like solar panels.
There will also be the addition of a sound and audio system to improve the overall experience at the venue.
The capacity for attendees will be able to increase, and there will be more concessions and bar areas.
The Guildhall, which is a civic building, is used for events like weddings, craft workshops and exhibitions.
Improvements made will be to reduce energy use and install a customer service centre, public cafe and work spaces.

Piers is no stranger when it comes to reality TV, appearing on Celebrity Apprentice in 2008 and as a judge on both America and Britain’s Got Talent.
But there is one show in particular which is off the cards for the broadcaster.
Speaking on the Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth podcast Piers revealed that he turned down a huge reality TV show just last week.
Speaking on the latest episode of the pod he says of his parents:
“One thing they always said to me was ‘Don’t ever do the jungle, I’m A Celebrity’, I always remember this and last week I got a call from ITV ‘Could we tempt you to do the jungle?’
“And I went ‘There’s actually not enough money at ITV to get me to go in that jungle because my parents would disown me’. That for them was the red line. “
“So you won’t ever see me munching kangaroo testicles, I’m afraid.”
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here sees a star-studded line-up swap their luxurious lifestyle for Bushtucker trials in the Australian jungle.
The famous faces are put through trials and torment as they battle it out to become Queen or King of the jungle.
He was previously asked if he was planning to follow in Matt Hancock‘s footsteps who shocked the nation when appeared on the show in 2022.
Piers told The Sun at its Who Cares Wins awards: “I would rather shoot myself slowly with a slow moving bullet that corroded through every bone in my body before it finished me off than go into the jungle with people like Matt Hancock.
“My parents have actually said to me they would put up with anything – and I’ve put them through a lot – but not the jungle.
“It’s a step too far. That’s their red line. I’d get disowned.”
Piers fuelled rumours he’d finally been persuaded to sign up to the gruelling reality show on X (formerly known as Twitter).
He tweeted: “Like I said, £5million and I’ll come and munch kangaroo testicles. Not a penny less.”
