Man Utd star Tyrell Malacia joins Champions League side in loan transfer and could face Arsenal

TYRELL MALACIA has completed a loan move away from Manchester United.

The defender will spend the rest of the season at Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven.

Malacia, 25, will now feature in the Champions League and could come up against Arsenal.

The Dutchman could face the Gunners if PSV overcome Juventus in the play-off round.

Malacia may never return to Old Trafford for the Red Devils as PSV have the option to make his move permanent in the summer.

Manchester United will also have his wages fully covered by PSV during the length of the loan.

The defender was expected to leave the club in January, but his exit was thrown into doubt after a move to Benfica collapsed.

He joined the club initially in 2022 and showed promise in his debut season with 39 appearances.

However, Malacia then picked up a lengthy injury and missed the 2023-24 campaign.

After finally regaining his fitness this season and the appointment of Ruben Amorim, he went on to play eight times.

But the manager opted to let him leave the club after the January arrival of Patrick Dorgu.

The Danish left-back joined Man United from Lecce in a deal worth £25million.

He has put pen to paper on a contract worth £40,000-per-week which is the third lowest in the squad.

Meanwhile, Malacia has insisted he is aiming to win more than one trophy with his new club.

He said: “I’m happy to be here. Finally playing good football again.

“I am coming off a long injury, but by now I am fit and know that my time will come again.

“In every tough period there are also positive elements and in this case that is that I have become much stronger physically and mentally.

“I have more patience, am more mature, know my body better and things like that.

“I’m ready to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV.”

‘This is beyond exciting’, RTE stars lead well wishes to ‘brilliant’ Kathryn Thomas for first show on Dublin’s Q102

RTE star Kathryn Thomas had support from her celebrity pals as she kicked off her brand new show on Dublin’s Q102.

The new breakfast show ‘The Morning Show with Kathryn Thomas’ aired for the first time this morning.

Louise Samuelsen

The show will run from 7am to 10am on weekdays.

And as Kathryn admitted to some first day jitters, even revealing she set three alarms to make it to the studio on time, she had support from dancer Arthur Gourounlian.

The radio host played a sweet message from the Dancing With The Stars judge on the morning show.

Arthur said: “Sending you a message to say good luck good luck, good luck with your new radio show on Q102.

“This is beyond exciting I’m so proud of you. You’re absolutely going to smash this.”

And Ireland’s Fittest Family coach and former rugby star Donnacha O’Callaghan also showed his support for Kathryn on her first morning.

He said: “Hi Kathyrn. It’s Donnacha O’Callaghan here, your second favourite coach on Ireland’s Fittest Family.

“I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck with your brilliant new breakfast show.

“We always said it in the rugby a great breakfast leads to a great day so have a brilliant one and see you soon. Best of luck.”

And Kathryn gave an insight into her “fancy” new studio as she got the breakfast show underway.

She said: “My first day in the chair today. I have to say my new studio, it’s very fancy. It’s got lots of lights and screens and buttons which I’m not entirely sure how to use yet but we will get there.

“I’ve a very anxious producer who is sitting across the desk from me. His hands are slightly sweaty but he’s still smiling, let’s hope that’s the case by the time we get to 10 O’Clock.”

She continued: “Also there’s lots of cameras on too and that’s because we can put up bits of the show on social because we know it’s all abot the gram, it’s all about TikTok.

“Gone are the days in radio that you could just turn up in your trackies, no bra on and people would be none the wiser.

“But today, for day one I’m washed and I’m fully clothed you’ll be pleased to hear.”

FAMILY MOMENTS

And as to not to miss out on the school run the mum-of-two set up a live mic in her house to tune in on the little ones heading out the door.

Kathryn played some clips of her husband Padraig getting daughters Ellie and Grace ready for school.

And as Kathryn got her first show underway her daughters tempted to push their luck with their mum out of the house.

Her little one asked: “Dad maybe this morning we can have Coco Pops instead of porridge because mum’s not here.”

Kathryn laughed: “Ah yes they know how to work their daddy.”

Major crime gang installed ‘secret’ stash in car fleet in bid to smuggle drugs across Dublin before massive garda bust

A MAJOR crime gang installed secret compartments in a fleet of vehicles to smuggle drugs across the capital.

The Irish Sun can reveal the mob – based in west Dublin – swamped communities with crack cocaine, cocaine and cannabis in recent months.

But their drug dealing network is now in ruin after officers from the Dublin Crime Response Team seized €12.8m worth of cocaine and cannabis at an industrial unit in Mountmellick, Co Laois, on Tuesday evening.

During the operation, investigators seized 182kg worth of cocaine and 4kg worth of cannabis.

Following the seizure, Gardai also swooped on properties in the Lucan and Rathcoole areas of Dublin.

Officers also seized five vehicles and €25,000 in cash.

The three men arrested are believed to be from Eastern Europe.

It’s understood they were recruited to move drugs to the west Dublin crime gang.

One source said: “The three men arrested aren’t well known figures in organised crime.

“They’re suspected of being used to bring the drugs into different areas across west Dublin.

“The operation has been going on for a number of months and has now dealt a major blow to this gang’s criminal enterprise.

The latest seizure was welcomed by Assistant Commissioner Paul Cleary from the Gardai’s Dublin Metropolitan Region.

The senior officer said: “This intelligence led operation conducted by the Dublin Crime Response Team has taken down the main supply network for cocaine and crack cocaine into west Dublin.

“This operation targeting the sourcing, preparation and distribution of substantial quantities of illicit drugs stopped them from entering our communities and is another significant blow to an organised crime group.”

Both women – who filed the suits anonymously at Jane Doe – claimed they were sexually assaulted at the Trump Hotel in Manhattan in the 1990s.

The bottle service attendant claimed she had gone to the Limelight nightclub in New York City where Diddy has been hosting an event.

This Jane Doe said the top two floors of this five story club had been reserved for a sex party.

The accuser said she was not attacked at the nightclub but claimed she and her friend were forced to go back to a penthouse suite at the Trump Hotel with Diddy, according to a court documents seen by TMZ.

This lawsuit said: “Combs made it clear that they did not have a choice.”

Jane Doe alleged she and her friend were held hostage and drugged in the room, while several other men were also there.

Jack Wilshere’ ‘out of his comfort zone’ in first coaching role since shock Arsenal exit

JACK WILSHERE admits he’s been so busy in his new coaching role that he’s barely even had time for a haircut.

The former Arsenal star joined the coaching staff at Championship side Norwich City last October.

The ex-Arsenal star left the Gunners academy to become a first-team coach with the Canaries[/caption]

Wilshere, 33, left his academy position with the Gunners to take up the role at Carrow Road.

The ex-England midfielder was forced to cut his playing career short due to persistent injuries.

And he is so committed to the new position he’s barely had time to take in his new Norfolk surroundings.

Wilshere told the BBC: “I’ve not had much time to go out in Norwich.

“I got a haircut but apart from that, with the schedule being the way it has been, I haven’t had much time.

“Growing up as a player, you were reminded a lot, ‘Don’t be in your comfort zone, don’t be in your comfort zone’, and that kind of always stuck with me.”

Wilshere first met Norwich head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup while he played in Denmark for Aarhus.

He continued: “I saw a few of his teams before, when I played in Denmark, so I sort of knew about him and the way he saw football.

“And then when I sat down and spoke with him, it was clear that this was the right step for me.”

Wilshere earned 32 caps for England but never fulfilled his potential due to crippling injury issues.

With his playing days now behind him, the former Arsenal midfielder is determined to carve out a career in management.

Wilshere added: “My ambition – I’ve always been open about this – is to be a head coach at some point.

“Now, of course, I don’t know how far that is away.

“I’m humble enough to know that being the under-18 head coach and then stepping into first-team football as a head coach is a big step.”

Arsenal player ratings vs Man City

ARSENAL stunned Man City 5-1 at the Emirates on Sunday evening.

It was an incredible result against their rivals of recent years.

Here, we take a look at how the Gunners rated…

David Raya – 7/10
Had very little to do in the first half but made a brilliant save in the 22nd minute to deny a goalbound header from Josko Gvardiol. Made another stunning save two minutes from the half-time interval, stopping a deflected Savinho shot from close range. Powerless to stop Erling Haaland’s 55th-minute header from briefly levelling the scores.

Jurrien Timber – 6
Didn’t offer his usual attacking threat going forward but was solid defensively. Picked up a pointless yellow breaking up a harmless counter-attack in the 24th minute. Almost scored late in the second half.

William Saliba – 5
Didn’t have much to do in the first half but won all his aerial battles in the first 45 minutes. Marshalled the defence well early in the second period but was embarrassingly outjumped and outmuscled by Haaland for City’s equaliser – a major flaw of his that continues to be exposed.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 6
Like his defensive partner, he was seldom called into action in the first half. Dominant in the air in his battles with Haaland, who he trolled after Odegaard’s goal.

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 8
Continues to endear himself to the Emirates faithful with composure and tenacity beyond his years as he brilliantly floated between left back and midfield. Put real daylight between the two sides with a thumping finish just after the hour mark. This young lad is a real bright prospect for both the Gunners and England.
His trolling of Haaland by copying the Norwegian’s ‘Lotus’ celebration went down a storm with fans.

Thomas Partey – 7
Steady in the heart of midfield and broke up play well when required. Fired the Gunners back into the lead in the 57th minute with a deflected shot from outside the box.

Martin Odegaard – 7
Was in the right place at the right time to benefit from the aftermath of an uncharacteristic Manuel Akanji error and break the deadlock. Was at the heart of everything good the north Londoners did going forward.

Declan Rice – 6
Combative, as always, in the middle of the park and played a role in the home side taking the lead, teeing up Havertz who squared the ball to Odegaard.

Leandro Trossard – 6
Was particularly lively on the left in the first half, giving Matheus Nunes a real run for his money. His end product, however, wasn’t the best.

Gabriel Martinelli – 6
Lively on the right wing in the early goings. Found the back of the net in the fifth minute after some beautiful play from Odegaard but was needlessly offside. Forced a good save out of Ortega with a rasping effort in the 68th minute.

Kai Havertz – 6
Lively early doors, testing Stefan Ortega with a tame shot in the first minute. Teed up Odegaard for a tap in a few moments later. Missed a golden opportunity to double the lead in the 25th minute, dragging the ball wide with the goal at his absolute mercy. Made amends for his howler by finishing an even harder chance in the 76th minute. He well and truly needed that as he looked absolutely devoid of confidence.

SUBS

Ethan Nwaneri – 83 (on for Trossard) – 7
Put the cherry on top of the cake with an outrageous effort in second-half stoppage time.

Mikel Merino – 83 (on for Odegaard) – 5

Raheem Sterling – 89 (on for Kai Havertz ) – N/A

Riccardo Calafiori 89 (on for Lewis-Skelly) – N/A

He continued: “Trying to grow [as a coach] and trying to develop a playing style and a culture in the club with a new manager and new technical director, it’s really exciting to be part of it.

“I’m really grateful to [Norwich Sporting Director Ben Knapper] and Johannes for giving me the opportunity to come and work with them.”

Norwich are currently in their third consecutive Championship season after relegation from the Premier League in 2022.

The Canaries currently sit 8th in the league, on the cusp of the playoffs.

Bear Grylls praises ‘remarkable, humble and brave’ Holly Willoughby after year of hell as their huge new show launches

BEAR Grylls has heaped praise on his Netflix co-star Holly Willoughby after a hellish time that saw her at the victim of a kidnap plot.

Today, the pair’s huge new show Celebrity Bear Hunt launches globally on the streaming platform, and Bear appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about it.

Holly said she felt safer in the jungle than at home after kidnap plot[/caption]

He was inevitably asked about TV queen Holly and couldn’t have been more effusive in his praise.

Bear said: “Holly has a beautiful spirit, she’s overcome many tough things in her life. All of us are out of our comfort zone.

“The jungle challenges us and builds us up. I came away at the end thinking remarkable lady, humble brave, often talks herself down.”

For her part, Holly said she felt safer in the narco state of Costa Rica while filming the show than she did in the UK following the plot to kill her.

She said of Bear on Instagram this morning: “It was an absolute pleasure, thank you for having me on board… so much to take home from this show… the jungle is a teacher but ultimately so is Bear! My new mantra… Be More Bear!”

They made Celebrity Bear Hunt in the Central American country where the number of drug-related killings, hijackings and other crimes are sky high.

But Holly said she found it an escape after the whirlwind of attention around her at the time following her departure from This Morning in October 2023 when she learned about 37-year-old security guard Gavin Plumb’s horrific plot.

Holly, 43, said: “It was just quite nice to be immersed in that and being away from everything, being that much in the jungle, in nature, where your phone doesn’t work and being disconnected from stuff.

“And actually, in some ways, it felt safer being there than it did being back here.”

The eight-part Netflix series features 12 famous faces — including Mel B, Lottie Moss, Una Healy, Boris Becker and Shirley Ballas — who have to evade capture by survival expert Bear.

Holly added: “I was standing next to Bear Grylls, I felt totally safe. It doesn’t get much safer. I’m like, ‘Don’t tell me (about the dangers here) please don’t tell me’.”

Speaking about Plumb, who was jailed for life with a 16-year minimum term last year, Holly said: “When something like that happens, you have a decision to make.

“You either decide, ‘Right, I can take this on board and it can absolutely affect all aspects of my life’. Or I can make a choice to go, ‘Let’s focus on everything that’s positive and good’.”

She also said that signing up for Celebrity Bear Hunt felt like the start of a new chapter for her.

The telly favourite added: “I’d just got to that stage in my life where I thought, ‘I want to try something new’. I was nervous about it, because it was a real departure from what I normally do.

“Everything you do and everything that feels new always feels like a new chapter.”

It is also the first time she has presented solo for some time.

But she said: “Really, I never feel like I’m on my own, because you’re either talking to the camera, which feels like you’re talking to someone, or you’re with the celebrities like I am on this.

“I always try to find a connection somewhere.”
