I was scammed out of hundreds by ‘Jennifer Aniston’ who told me she loved me & needed cash for her ‘Apple subscriptions’

A MAN was cruelly scammed out of £200 after being sweet-talked by a fake Jennifer Aniston begging for cash for “Apple subscriptions”.

Paul Davis, 43, from Southampton, handed over the money after believing he was talking to the Friends star on Facebook.

Paul was sent what looked like Jennifer Aniston’s driving licence, before she told him she ‘loves him’ and asked for money[/caption]

Paul says he was targeted by an army of AI scammers pretending to be A-list stars – including the Friends legend herself – in a bizarre new wave of deepfake fraud.

The unemployed Brit, who battles depression, revealed how he was bombarded with dozens of eerily convincing videos from bogus celebrity accounts.

Some fraudulently posed as tech titans Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.

But it was a phoney Aniston who finally fooled him after sending what looked like her driving licence.

The fraudster also told Paul she “loved him” before asking for money.

Paul said: “I’ve had fake videos from Jennifer Aniston saying she loves me and asking for £200. I believed it – and I paid.”

The cruel scam saw him send £200 worth of non-refundable Apple gift cards to the supposed Hollywood sweetheart.

“I got bitten,” he added. “Once bitten, twice shy.”

The shocking con is part of a terrifying rise in AI-powered scams, with crooks creating scarily real deepfake clips of celebs to trick unsuspecting victims out of their cash and private info.

Paul says he’s been relentlessly harassed for months, receiving fake messages every day claiming he’s won everything from mega cash prizes to a flashy Range Rover.

One video even showed a fake Zuckerberg declaring: “This is not a scam – believe me” while flashing a dodgy ID.

Another sent him a bogus “certificate from Facebook” claiming he’d scooped £500k and a luxury motor.

“They make it look so real,” Paul said.

“It’s been going on for five months. I thought someone would get in trouble for this, but they seem to be having a laugh – and getting away with it.”

Worryingly, Paul says he’s not the only one falling victim.

He revealed: “Someone I know’s lost over a grand in Apple gift cards to these scams.”

Now, struggling with his mental health and unable to work, Paul says the constant barrage of cons is taking its toll.

Paul said: “I can’t keep taking that sort of hit. They’re asking for bank details, credit card info – everything.”

The 43-year-old says he is sharing his story in a bid to warn others and stop the scammers in their tracks.

It comes after a scammer who conned a French woman out of nearly £700,000 by pretending to be Brad Pitt was unmasked in Nigeria.

Interior designer Anne, 53, was scammed into funding a fake cancer treatment for the star after receiving AI-generated selfies and sweet-talking texts.

The cruel romance con lasted over a year, costing Anne her fortune, her marriage, and her mental health.

Eventually a crack team discovered the scammer’s identity, his Nigerian base, and 34 other victims.

Meanwhile, another woman put out a call for help after noticing her mum fall for an AI deepfake scam of Owen Wilson.

The unnamed woman took to Reddit, revealing both she and her sister had failed to convince her mum that the man she was chatting to was not the real actor.

She decided to share the AI deepfake video her mum had been sent by ‘Owen Wilson’ with the title ‘Owen Wilson befriended my mother.’

What are deepfakes?

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Deepfakes use artificial intelligence and machine learning to produce face-swapped videos with barely any effort
  • They can be used to create realistic videos that make celebrities appear as though they’re saying something they didn’t
  • Deepfakes have also been used by sickos to make fake porn videos that feature the faces of celebrities or ex-lovers
  • To create the videos, users first track down an XXX clip featuring a porn star that looks like an actress
  • They then feed an app with hundreds – and sometimes thousands – of photos of the victim’s face
  • A machine learning algorithm swaps out the faces frame-by-frame until it spits out a realistic, but fake, video
  • To help other users create these videos, pervs upload “facesets”, which are huge computer folders filled with a celebrity’s face that can be easily fed through the “deepfakes” app

Major Oasis reunion tour setlist clue as string of iconic tracks heard during soundcheck ahead of first gig in Cardiff

THE countdown is well and truly on for the grand return of Oasis after 16 years.

But locals in Cardiff may well get to hear the group before their comeback gig on Friday.

The set-up at the Welsh capital’s Principality Stadium is well under way.

On Monday, the city could hear a soundcheck where a string of songs were blasted out through the open roof, giving clues of what will be on the setlist.

Live versions of their 1995 No1 Some Might Say, 1994’s Cigarettes & Alcohol and Fn’ In The Bushes, from 2000 album Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, were all played.

Noel and Liam Gallagher are not thought to have been there for the soundcheck, with Liam posting on X that “nobody rehearses on a Monday”.

But they are likely to take to the stage to practise before doors officially open on Friday afternoon.

A source said: “The stage is being set up in the stadium and everything is being tested to make sure the opening show goes off without a hitch.

“The band and their team are very much aware that the world will be watching, so they want it to be the best show possible.

“They will be doing a soundcheck in the lead-up to the first concert so the locals are likely to hear them performing before ticket holders will get to see them.

“It’s very exciting.”

In more good news for fans, the group have announced a deluxe 30th anniversary edition of their second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, which will be out on October 3.

It will feature five new unplugged versions of classic recordings Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Acquiesce and Champagne Supernova, and is available to pre-order now.

Meanwhile, Liam has been mouthing off on X in the run-up to the shows.

Asked if he’s “seriously not nervous” about it, he said: “No, coz I’ve prepared like a CHAMPION.”

To another, he added: “We wouldn’t be doing it if we sounded s**t.”

And he couldn’t help but have a playful dig at his big brother.

After one fan posted a dream setlist ending with Don’t Look Back In Anger, on which Noel sings lead vocals, another commented: “Not a chance Liam isn’t closing the gig.”

Liam replied: “Exactly . . .  He is the boss but he’s not f***ing stupid.”

Clearly he still sees himself as the main attraction, even after all this time.

Their son Oakley has Apert Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes fusion of the skull, hands, and feet bones.

Taking to her Instagram story, Talia penned: “Oakley had the worst sickness last night, from 11ish till about 5am.

“Bath after bath, bed change after bed change.

“I feel so sorry for him. The fundo surgery he’s due to have soon (after his hands) is so needed.

“It will stop him being sick completely. Currently on a meds run for him.”

Proud mum Talia previously took to Instagram to post a video of her son taking his first steps and shared an update with her followers.

Alongside the clip, she wrote: “Oakley has been using a walking frame for a few months now.

“He’s had some shoes made for him as it’s impossible to get shoes that fit his feet.

“Which is common with Apert syndrome.

“Today we tried the shoes for the first time. We also had physio at home which we are doing every week.#

Talia added: “Using an object to hold on so Oakley feels safe. I’m so proud of how far he’s come.”

Fans rushed to comment on the upload, with one writing: “He’s a legend. Well done Oakley.”

Another said: “So emotional, what a little beauty, well done Oakley and to mummy!”

And a third added: “What an inspiration you both are.”

Aaron and Talia welcomed Oakley into the world in February 2022.

They also share Romeo, four, and Maddox, three.

The former couple got together in 2017 but split just months after Oakley’s birth.

What is Apert syndrome?

APERT syndrome, also known as acrocephalosyndactyly, is a rare disorder that is named after the doctor who first discovered it in the early 20th century.

It is a genetic condition and is caused by a mutation of the FGFR2 gene.

This affects how cells in the body – namely bone cells – grow, divide and die.

Children born with Apert syndrome have a characteristic appearance, which is caused by the bones in the skull and face fusing and not growing in proportion, according to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

It can increase a child’s risk of hydrocephalus, which results in pressure building on the brain, and it can also cause Chiari malformation, where the base of the brain is squeezed.

Other complications include breathing difficulties and heart problems, which require life-long monitoring.

The condition is said to occurs in one in every 65,000 to 88,000 births and a child’s outlook can vary greatly depending on the severity of symptoms

Grandfather accused of murdering grandson, 2, admits ‘being cruel and neglectful’ to toddler & is ‘disgusted’ in himself

A MAN accused of murdering his two-year-old grandson has admitted being “cruel and neglectful to the toddler”, a court heard.

Ethan Ives-Griffiths died from a severe head injury in Garden City in Flintshir, north Wales, back in August 2021.

Grandparents Michael Ives, 47, denied he or his wife Kerry Ives, 46, inflicted a severe head injury on Ethan before he collapsed at their home in Flintshire, on August 14 2021.

Ethan had been staying at his grandparents’ house in Garden City with his mother Shannon Ives, 28, when he collapsed, the court heard.

But after being rushed to hospital the tot died two days later having suffered catastrophic head injuries, a jury has heard.

Under cross-examination by Caroline Rees KC, prosecuting, at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday, Michael said he felt “sick” about letting Ethan decline while he lived with them.

The grandfather accepted that he neglected Ethan and that the way he carried him, by his upper arm, was cruel.

But he denied mistreating the tot in other ways.

Ms Rees said: “You were cruel and neglectful of Ethan?”

Ives replied: “Yeah.”

After watching CCTV footage of himself and Ethan in the back garden of the home on August 4 2021, when he could be seen carrying the toddler by his arm, Ives was asked how he felt about how he behaved.

Michael replied: “Ashamed. Disgusted in myself.”

Asked when he noticed Ethan was “dangerously thin”, Ives said he mentioned it to Shannon Ives a couple of weeks before the boy’s death.

He told the court: “She was going to try and get him a doctor’s appointment.”

Michael said he did not notice Ethan was so “desperately dehydrated” that medical experts said he would have died in a short time even if he had not suffered a brain injury.

He said he was “shocked” to learn there were 40 bruises or red marks found on Ethan after his death.

But, he told the court he had noticed bruises on Ethan’s cheeks which appeared to look as if he had been grabbed by his face and he mentioned it to his daughter.

He said he asked Shannon Ives where the bruises came from, but she said she did not know.

Ms Rees said: “Did you cause those bruises?”

Michael said: “No.”

He said he did not discipline Ethan by making him put his hands on his head, although in interviews he told police he had done that about four times.

Ms Rees said: “Are you hiding the fact that you told Ethan to put his hands on his head because you know that was part of your brutal discipline regime for that two-year-old boy?”

Michael replied: “No.”

Michael has told the court he was in the living room with Ethan on August 14 2021 when his legs turned to “jelly”.

Ms Rees said medical evidence showed something “horrifying” happened to the toddler just before his collapse.

She asked: “What horrifying thing happened to Ethan?”

He replied: “Nothing.”

Michael and Kerry Ives, of Kingsley Road, Garden City, deny murder, an alternative count of causing or allowing the death of a child, and cruelty to a person under 16.

Shannon Ives, of Nant Garmon, Mold, denies causing or allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a person under 16.

He spoke to Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2[/caption]

The presenter and comedian has discussed previously being in an abusive relationship.

He opened up while appearing as a guest on Jeremy Vine’s BBC Radio 2 show.

James shared: “There were times where he would put his hands around my throat, if I made a snarky comment about something stupid.

“Or, there were times where we would get into political conversations that would trigger him. That would make him angry.

“There was a time where I was hit so hard, I was pushed at the top of the stairs.

“Luckily, I managed to hold a banister. But, there’s a lot of different occasions like that.”

He continued: “At first, you just ignore these.

“You just think, ‘Well, this isn’t abuse. This is just a mistake.

“He’s just a bit upset. He’s just a bit angry, I get it.

“And it’s not really about me and he didn’t mean to.

“Actually, this can’t possibly be domestic abuse. Because, well, I’m a man and it “doesn’t happen to men”‘.

“I’m a gay man and I’ve never heard of it happening to a gay man before.

“And genuinely Jeremy, this will surprise you. I thought I was too sexy and funny on the receiving end of [domestic abuse].”

Writing online, one fan penned: “I listened to this earlier whilst driving, compelling listening, what an horrendous thing to happen to you & incredibly brave to talk openly about it. Best wishes.”

Domestic abuse - how to get help

DOMESTIC abuse can affect anyone - including men - and does not always involve physical violence.

Here are some signs that you could be in an abusive relationship:

  • Emotional abuse – Including being belittled, blamed for the abuse – gaslighting – being isolated from family and friends, having no control over your finances, what you where and who you speak to
  • Threats and intimidation – Some partners might threaten to kill or hurt you, destroy your belongings, stalk or harass you
  • Physical abuse – This can range from slapping or hitting to being shoved over, choked or bitten.
  • Sexual abuse – Being touched in a way you do not want to be touched, hurt during sex, pressured into sex or forced to have sex when you do not consent.

If any of the above apply to you or a friend, you can call these numbers:

Remember, you are not alone.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse over the course of their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

Another added:” Really important and powerful to give the topic of LGBTQIA+ domestic abuse a major platform.

“You are helping people James.”

James, Fleur and Greg Burns were announced as the new hosts of the Hit Radio Breakfast Show back in June 2019.

Earlier this year, it was announced Big Brother star Will Best would be joining James and Fleur as a new co-host.

‘Love him already’, say Man Utd fans after forgotten January transfer’s bold interview before flying into Manchester

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have already fallen “in love” with their incoming signing Diego Leon after watching his airport interview.

The left-back, 18, waved an emotional goodbye to his friends and family in Paraguay, before flying more than 6,000 miles to Manchester on Tuesday.

Leon speaking.
Leon boldly stated he has no intention of ‘being farmed out on loan’
Diego Leon, https://www.instagram.com/diego.leon04/?hl=en
The Paraguayan teenager was Amorim’s first official signing in January

Leon was actually Ruben Amorim‘s first signing during the January window, but the Red Devils couldn’t complete the deal until he turned 18 in April.

He briefly visited Carrington earlier in the year to complete his initial medical and will officially be confirmed as a new signing this week.

United are expected to pay Paraguayan top-flight side Cerro Porteno an initial £3.2million fee, with add-ons that could rise to £7million.

And the Old Trafford faithful have instantly backed Leon, who seemed wise beyond his years during his latest interview.

Leon bravely stated he has no intention of being farmed out on loan, which often happens to unproven youngsters in need of experience at top clubs.

He told a reporter before boarding his plane at the airport: “Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset.

“I’m going to kill it in the preseason, and within one or two games, I’ll already be playing with them.

“The feelings are indescribable. You feel so many things. The truth is, I’m very happy, very happy to be there.

“I think every player dreams of this, and I have the opportunity. Thank God for the opportunity.

“I think it was a bit quick too, but hey, you have to adapt quickly once you’re there. I’m already a professional.

Graphic of Diego Leon's Cerro Porteno 2024/25 season statistics.

“I’ll have to adapt a bit to the climate, the language, and all that. I have a lot of confidence in myself.

“I’m going to be at the top with them. Now with the faith intact that I can succeed.”

Due to the pressing need for a left-back in January, United went ahead and signed Patrick Dorgu from Serie A side Lecce as well, with Luke Shaw out injured for over a year.

United fans have taken an instant liking to Leon’s words of wisdom and apparent mature mindset.

Reacting to the interview, one wrote on X: “Love him already”.

While another said: “This is the mindset!!!!! Get him in that squad.”

A third added: “That is what we want to hear 🥶.”

A fourth chimed in: “Love the confidence, Diego Leon sounds hungry and ready to prove himself. That mindset can take him far.”

One more wrote “Got a good feeling about him!”

Leon held a farewell party with his loved-ones over the weekend, with many posting ‘goodbye’ pics on Instagram.

The teenager has just one season of first-team football under his belt, making 33 appearances for Cerro Porteno last term.

The full-back is expected to be part of the club’s pre-season plans.
