‘I was going mental!’ says Royal Ascot punter after bagging huge win from ‘incredible’ £10 bet
ONE lucky punter has landed himself £14,158 from a spectacular £10 bet at Royal Ascot.
The plucky racegoer stuck a tenner on a three-horse bet to earn himself the hefty payday on Friday.

The customer backed Venetian Sun in the Albany Stakes, Never Let Go in Sandringham Stakes and Adrestia in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes in a £5 each-way treble.
All three horses didn’t just place, but actually WON their respective races.
The punter, who had backed the trio at 10/1, 16/1 and 6/1, will have been in shock after only deciding to back the horses thanks to the tips in the Ladbrokes shop he went into.
He told Ladbrokes: “I just went with the tips in the Ladbrokes shop!
“I couldn’t believe it when I was on for the win going into the final race.
“I was watching the Holyroodhouse and thought if Adrestia gets out, she’s not getting caught. I was going mental!”
While Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: “After punters left us with our tail between our legs the previous day, this customer landed one of the bets of Royal Ascot on a day when upsets might have otherwise left us smiling. Congratulations on an incredible win.
“They’ll never let go of this memory – and might already be planning a fitting trip to Venice with their winnings!”
Elsewhere at Ascot there was chaos when winning horse Lazzat almost drop-kicked a groundsworker in the head after getting loose and going mad.
The Wathnan-owned sprinter just bagged more than half a million quid for winning the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs.
But when jockey James Doyle was about to be interviewed by ITV, the 9-2 winner appeared to get spooked by a cloth being raised in front of him.
Like a red rag to a bull, the fired-up four-year-old dumped Doyle to the turf, turned round and then galloped off down the track.

Stephen Mulhern dropped from £1m Butlins magic show deal in latest career blow after Dancing on Ice & game show canned

TV’s Stephen Mulhern has been dropped from his £1million deal with holiday camp giant Butlin’s.
The Saturday Night Takeway star will not return to his sell-out shows after this summer.

ITV host Stephen, 48, has appeared for the past three years at the chain’s centres at Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness.
But his lucrative deal for the weekend performances will not be renewed at the end of this year.
A source said: “Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers.
“He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.”
The end of the deal comes after Mulhern collapsed in a Pizza Express in Sunningdale, Berkshire, late last year.
He was also left devastated by the death of his father Christopher, who taught him magician tricks as a child.
In March, ITV announced that Dancing On Ice – which he hosted with close pal Holly Willoughby – would not return next year.
And his game show In For A Penny, which saw Stephen head to different places around the UK to challenge members of the public, was shelved by ITV after six series.
But he is due to start to start filming for his challenge show You Bet! on Tour next week — without Holly, after she quit the show in March.
Stephen, a close pal of Ant and Dec, started out in children’s TV in 2001 when he was the presenter of the game show Finger Tips.
He presented his first show with Holly in 2004 when they worked together on Children’s TV show Ministry Of Mayhem.
The magician launched Tricky TV on CITV in 2005, which he presented until 2010.
During this time, he was handpicked by bosses to front the ITV2 spin-off for Britain’s Got Talent.
He presented Britain’s Got More Talent until the cancellation of the spin-off in 2019.
A Butlin’s spokesperson said: “Stephen has been an incredible part of the Butlin’s experience and continues to be a valued member of the family.
“Stephen’s much-loved live show won’t return in 2026 after three fantastic years, but we’re thrilled to be working together on ongoing projects this autumn.”
A spokesman for Stephen said: “Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin’s family — performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin’s remains hugely positive.
“This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he’s incredibly passionate about.”

Shane Lowry surges during third round at PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship but remains well off the pace
OFFALY star Shane Lowry carded a four-under-par 66 in the third round of the Travelers Championship.
The Irishman is still well off the pace ahead of Sunday’s final round at TPC River Highlands.

The2019 Open winner got off to a hot start with a front-nine 32, highlighted by birdies at the 2nd, 3rd, 7th holes
He hit just one blemish across the day – a bogey at the par-3 11th – but otherwise remained steady, adding two more birdies on the back nine at the 14th and 17th.
The 2019 Open champion signed for 66 to move to -4 for the tournament overall, having gained signed off for a poor 72 and 73 on days 1 and 2.
He remains well off the lead in T52 with the leaders set to go out on Saturday evening.
Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy remains in the mix at the halfway stage of the Travelers Championship, despite an over-par round on Friday at TPC River Highlands.
The Northern Irishman opened with a bogey-free 64 on Thursday, but endured a nightmare start to his second round, carding three bogeys in his first four holes.
He remains in contention though, just four off the pace.
Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood hold top spot heading into Saturday’s penultimate round.
Jordan Spieth pulled up during his second round with an injury, the three-time major winner was clearly in discomfort during his opening round.
He received attention from the physio after he made the turn.
But the injury seemingly got worse, and looked like a neck or back issue on the TPC course.
Spieth was then forced to withdraw from the Travelers Championship as he soldiered through 12 holes.
It’s the first time he’s ever withdrawn, and a tough break after wrist surgery last year.

Former Championship manager, 44, now working at Bristol Airport as picture of him in uniform goes viral
A FORMER Championship manager has swapped wingers for wings – by taking a job at Bristol Airport.
And fans could barely believe their eyes as he opted for a high-viz instead of a high line.

Ex-Swindon and Notts County chief Luke Williams was Swansea boss from January 2024 until his sacking in February 2025.
The London-born gaffer, 44, was placed on gardening leave.
But despite no doubt receiving a pay-off from the Welsh club when axed four months ago, he was keen to do something worthwhile during his time out of the game.
So much so that as he awaits a new stint in a dugout, kind-hearted Williams has undertaken a gig helping disabled and limited-mobility passengers around the Bristol Airport terminal, as reported by The Athletic.
He started the job two weeks ago.
And it did not take long for a photo of him at his new workplace to go viral.
The snap showed humble Williams wearing his yellow reflective vest uniform and lanyard coming out of the lift in Bristol.
An X user wrote: “Luke Williams gone from managing the Swans to working in Bristol Airport, someone check VAR.”

One replied: “He’s just doing this because he’s bored, he genuinely doesn’t care about others’ opinions and you have to respect it.”
Another commented: “Fair play to the guy.”
A third joked: “Managing in the top flight.”
A fourth added: “Cardiff City fan here with nothing but respect for this. Call me woke if you want. (*best believe I’ll turn up in full bluebirds kit when I fly out next week)”
And a final person typed: “Clearly has a massive work ethic. Good luck to him!”
Williams told The Guardian in 2024 that he places a strong emphasis on commitment and dedication, declaring: “In my opinion, motivation in life is everything.”
He also revealed how he loaded lorries for BHS and drove minibuses to and from nightclubs and airports to fund his early coaching career.
In those days, he collected £1.50 for every player who attended his sessions.
Williams also applied for an electrician course when he left his coaching role with Swansea under Russell Martin in 2022.
Jude Bellingham’s girlfriend Ashlyn Castro stuns in custom Real Madrid crop top
JUDE BELLINGHAM’s girlfriend Ashlyn Castro has stunned in a custom Real Madrid outfit.
The 27-year-old is currently Stateside supporting the England star at the Club World Cup.

Bellingham’s Real Madrid opened up the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Saudi side Al-Hilal.
The former Dortmund midfielder failed to find the net as Xabi Alonso’s men were frustrated in front of goal.
But Bellingham is certainly winning off the pitch with Californian model Ashlyn.
The influencer showed off a custom Madrid creation ahead of Sunday’s clash with Mexican side Pachuca.

SunSport revealed Bellingham had whisked Ashlyn away for a series of dates over the New Year.
And she’d even met his parents on a visit to the Spanish capital.

Ashlyn has previously been linked with Hollywood actor Michael B Jordan and NBA stars LaMelo Ball and Terance Mann.
She boasts 540,000 followers on Instagram, where she keeps fans updated with her luxury travels around the world.
A recent update saw the Californian beauty rock a gorgeous fitted green outfit.
One fan gasped in response: “I think this is Bellingham’s best goal.”
While a second added: “You are just outrageous.”
Ashlyn has also amassed a huge following on TikTok where she posts makeup tutorials and shares fashion advice with fans.
Bellingham was previously linked with Dutch model Laura Celia Valk.

His brother Jobe recently followed in his sibling’s footsteps, joining Dortmund from Sunderland.
The 19-year-old netted his first goal for the club in Saturday’s CWC showdown with Mamelodi.
Dortmund shelled out £32million for the teenager.
But the price tag – and comparisons with his big brother – are just distractions to the midfielder.
Jobe said: “I don’t really care how it looks, but it might look a bit contradictory to some people.
“I was perhaps being biased against Dortmund for a very long time, because I have anxieties and fears, and you want to be your own man.
“But I don’t think I should let those stop me from making the right decision.“
Irishman behind bar after €110m cocaine bust arrest as Portuguese cops swoop on drug smuggling yacht in Atlantic Ocean
AN Irish national has been arrested after Portuguese cops and military swooped on a yacht carrying more than 1.5 tonnes of cocaine.
Two Danish men were also arrested after 1,660 kilos of the drug with a potential street value of around €110 million were discovered on the 11-metre vessel.
All three are languishing in Ponta Delgada’s Sao Miguel Prison, in the Azores, after being remanded behind bars by a judge following their first court appearance on Friday.
Portuguese police also confirmed that their Spanish counterparts had held the suspected leader of the criminal gang in a “parallel” operation thought to have taken place on the Costa del Sol.
A Taser gun and €63,000 in cash were seized following the arrest.
The man’s nationality has not been officially revealed but he is believed to be Danish.
The operation that led to the high-seas cocaine bust was codenamed Operation Vikings.
In an official statement, a spokesman for Portugal’s Policia Judiciaria (PJ) police force described the three men held off the Azores as “foreigners”, but a well-placed source confirmed they included an Irish national.
The PJ also said Irish authorities had assisted them.
In the lengthy statement, the Portuguese police force said: “With the support of the Portuguese Navy, we launched an operation to combat international drug trafficking by sea.
“A sailing boat around 11 metres long was intercepted off the western group of the Azores archipelago as it crossed the Atlantic Ocean between South America and Europe with around 1,660 kg of cocaine on board.
“Operation Vikings is the result of a complex investigation that has taken place over the last two years, aimed at dismantling an international criminal organisation with transcontinental operations specialising in bringing large quantities of cocaine to the European continent and using our country as a platform to this end.
“Due to poor safety and seaworthiness conditions the three crew members of the sailboat, who have since been arrested by the PJ, were taken along with the narcotics to a ship belonging to the Portuguese Navy which deployed a wide range of resources involving more than 50 military personnel.”
