Watch as bizarre HAIRY Russian ‘turtle tank’ is seen in Ukraine as Putin’s troops go to new extremes to fend off drones

VLADIMIR Putin’s forces have unveiled its barmiest “turtle tanker” yet as Russia scrambles to protect its dwindling armour from Ukraine’s deadly drones.

Footage from Russian state TV showed a Soviet-era BMP-1 coated in metal sheets and bizarre hair-like bristles as it ploughed through the battlefield.

The bizarre tanker is the latest laughingstock in a long line of Kremlin blunders[/caption]

The spiked, “hairy” vehicle was spotted near Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, where Moscow’s troops have been steadily advancing.

The weird modifications are part of Moscow’s desperate attempt to shield armoured vehicles from first-person-view (FPV) drones, which have become a battlefield menace.

The “hairy” BMP appears to be an evolution of Russia’s crude “cope cages,” the improvised metal shields first seen on tanks at the start of the war.

But instead of just flat plates, the BMP’s open back is covered by hanging curly sheaves of steel, while thick broom-like bristles jut out from its sides.

Oleksandr Danylyuk, a military and defence analyst at RUSI, told The Telegraph he had not seen such defences used before in this war.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian weapons expert Valerii Riabykh suggested the bristles might be designed to “prematurely initiate the fuses on FPV warheads” before they strike the vehicle directly.

The move comes as Russia and Ukraine engage in an escalating game of drone warfare, with both sides rapidly adapting to counter each other’s tactics.

FPV drones have proved devastating, especially against older armoured vehicles, as they can hit where defences are weakest—on top.

Initially, electronic warfare (EW) systems proved effective at jamming remote-controlled drones, with military officials estimating that 75 per cent of drones were being knocked out, The Telegraph reports.

But the introduction of “unjammable” fibre optic-controlled FPV drones has forced Moscow to get creative with its defences.

VLAD’S DESPERATE TANK DESIGNS

This is far from the first time Putin’s forces have resorted to makeshift solutions.

Last year, Russian troops were spotted rolling into battle with bizarre “turtle tanks”.

The Soviet-era T-80s were covered in steel sheds and chain fringes in a bid to survive drone and missile attacks.

The hulking vehicles, which debuted in Donetsk Oblast, became a symbol of Russia’s reliance on ageing Cold War-era equipment.

While the thick metal plates provided some protection, they also severely limited visibility for the crew, leaving them vulnerable to Ukrainian strikes.

What are 'turtle tanks'?

“TURTLE tanks” generally refer to tanks with a heavily armored, low-profile design resembling the shape of a turtle.

The term isn’t specific to a single model but can describe various tanks known for their strong armor and defensive capabilities.

One prominent example is the German Panzer VIII Maus, the heaviest fully enclosed armoured fighting vehicle ever built.

Another is the Soviet KV-2, known for its thick armour and large turret.

The design philosophy behind these tanks focuses on maximum protection and survivability on the battlefield, often at the cost of speed and mobility.

One particularly humiliating moment came in August when Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade annihilated several of these “turtle tanks” in Kharkiv Oblast, setting them ablaze in a series of pinpoint strikes.

Footage showed Russian soldiers scrambling from the burning wrecks as Ukrainian drones picked them off one by one.

The slapdash armour upgrades reflect Moscow’s growing desperation as its once-vaunted tank fleet has been decimated.

Before the grim two-year anniversary of the war, Russian commanders were reportedly forced to dig into vast Cold War stockpiles to keep their forces in the fight.

The dire state of Russia’s arsenal was laid bare last May when Putin was forced to cancel or drastically scale back the annual Victory Day parades — typically a grand showcase of Russian military might—due to a lack of heavy-duty military equipment.

Tottenham fans say ‘I beg your pardon’ after they launch shock transfer for England star amid Axel Disasi uncertainty

Spurs’ defence has been decimated by injuries this season.

Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin are both missing with long-term issues, while Micky van de Ven has only recently returned to fitness following a lengthy lay-off.

Spurs have been attempting to sign Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea.

According to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs, Tottenham agreed a deal with the Blues worth around £5m to take Disasi for the rest of the season.

The Frenchman would rather join Aston Villa, however, having already agreed terms with Unai Emery’s side.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham are still trying for Disasi, although conflicting reports say that their pursuit is over.

Romano also adds that Spurs made an offer for Guehi in the last 48 hours.

The bid was turned down, however, with Tottenham likely to wait until the summer before trying again for the England star.

Guehi, 24, only has 18 months remaining on his Palace contract.

Holly Willoughby reveals major shake-up to next week’s Dancing On Ice as huge part of show returns after fan backlash

HOLLY Willoughby has revealed a major Dancing On Ice shake-up as a huge part of the show will return next week.

Fans of Dancing On Ice were previously left furious after the skate-off was removed – meaning the celebrity and pro skater with the fewest public votes were dumped immediately.

But during last night’s live show Holly, 43, told the likes of Charlie Brooks and Anton Ferdinand that they could have to battle it out to stay in the competition.

She said: “Listen, this is very important – I have an announcement to make.

“Next week things are going to change somewhat because the skate-off is back. That does change everything.”

After the skate-off was initially axed viewers insisted the end of the show felt “rushed”.

One wrote on social media: “Tonight’s ending was terribly rushed and very abrupt! Change the format!”

And another said: “What a pointless way to end the show.”

It was a dramatic weekend for Dancing On Ice, with professional skater Vanessa Bauer being forced to quit the show due to injury.

Vanessa, 28 – who was partnered with Love Island’s Chris Taylor – told fans: “I’m here today with rather upsetting news. I am unfortunately not going to be able to continue on Dancing on Ice with Chris.

“I unfortunately had a little accident backstage last week on Dancing on Ice just before the live show on Sunday.

“And I didn’t realise how bad it was then, but we did an MRI and it turned out that I have a completely torn ligament, grade three sprain injury and a major grade two sprain injury.”

Chris will continue with the competition, skating instead with Robin Johnstone.

Last night’s episode also saw Sir Steve Redgrave become the third celebrity to be eliminated from the show.

I haven’t shampooed my waist-length hair in 12 years & get so many compliments on it – I’ve trained it to clean itself

A WOMAN who hasn’t washed her hair with shampoo in 12 years has revealed how she managed to train her locks.

Harper explained that she decided to ditch shampoo, and other hair products, in a bid to keep her hair in the best condition possible.

And it seems it’s worked, as it’s become her most complimented feature.

She explained in a video on her Instagram page, as she revealed she also no longer uses a hairdryer after washing it with solely water.

Instead, she leaves it to dry naturally, or uses her dressing gown belt to create overnight curls.

“I haven’t used shampoo in over 12 years and my hair is also by far my most complimented feature,” she said in the clip.

“It’s long, it’s thick, it’s kind of curly – it’s very eye catching.”

While she doesn’t use shampoo, she does take hot showers regularly to keep herself clean.

And when she is in the shower, she really scrubs her scalp “and sort of pull the natural oils through the rest of the hair”.

“But that’s all you really need to do to balance that sort of oily, greasy feeling in the scalp,” Harper added.

She also wears her hair in plaits a lot, as well as doing the dressing gown curls, and concluded: “And that’s it!

“I don’t use any product in my hair, and people comment on it all the time.”

In another Instagram video, she used the caption to reveal her technique of not shampooing the locks is colloquially referred to as following a “nopoo” routine.

“NO MODERN PRODUCTS hair care,” she wrote.

“I haven’t used shampoo in over 12 years. No curling irons, no gels, no mousse, NOTHING.

“What you see here is just water, technique, and time.”

Despite Harper insisting her hair is healthier than ever, the comments section was almost immediately filled with people questioning how she stops it smelling if she isn’t using shampoo.

“As a stylist, I have had a couple of clients do this,” one person wrote.

How often should you be washing your hair?

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.

You take your hair and scalp to the same places you take your face, and it gets just as dirty.

Your scalp is also a living tissue; it sweats, produces oils and sheds skin cells.

You wouldn’t leave two days between washing your face, and you likely wouldn’t wear the same outfit more than a few times before washing it – apply the same thinking to your hair.

It is a myth that washing your hair too often causes your hair to get greasier.

“I do not appreciate it, because it stinks. Sorry, but we can smell you!”

Another stylist added: “I had a client tell me he hasn’t shampooed in FIVE YEARS for the same reason.

“When I was done with his hair my clippers were JAMMED because of all the oil.

“He smelled UNBELIEVABLY horrid and was flabbergasted at the fact I told him it was unsanitary.

“This is disgusting.

“If you’re worried about hair health or chemicals, use an all natural plant based shampoo – they exist!”

“As a hairstylist, this is NOT healthy for your hair,” a third insisted.

Sorry, but we can smell you!

Stylist's comment on video

“Your scalps build up bacteria and your hair needs a healthy microbiome (aka a clean scalp) to be healthy.”

“I don’t get why people don’t use shampoo,” someone else mused.

“They think they’re doing something, but really they’re not.

“Imagine if you never used soap to wash your hands!”

However, others were more on Harper’s side, with one writing: “My grandmother have never used shampoo in her life and her hair was thick even her 60s.

“And in her 50s she didn’t have grey hair!”

“All you people have you looked at her other content?” another asked.

“Does her hair look bad or greasy – no.

“Her hair is wet in this video, in the other ones it looks good.

“Her routine maybe wouldn’t work for everybody’s hair but it does for her.”

As a third added: “We all like shampoo, me especially, but do you think we were made with Herbal Essences in mind?

“This is the natural process we were intended for.

“No hate for a difference of personal practice.”
