Clock is ticking for Irish Lotto winner as punter has just FOUR days left to claim life-changing prize worth €500k

AN Irish Lotto winner has just FOUR days left to claim life-changing prize worth €500,000 – here is where and when it was bought.

A Daily Million Plus player could be half a million euro richer and not even know it.

The National Lottery is urging players to check their tickets from the 2pm draw on Friday, March 28.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at Tesco in Stillorgan Shopping Centre Co Dublin on the day of the draw.

The winning numbers were 17, 22, 23, 25, 30, 37 and the bonus number was 32.

So far, the top prize has not been claimed.

Players have 90 days from the draw date to come forward, meaning the deadline is this Thursday, June 26.

If unclaimed by the deadline, the €500,000 prize will go back into the National Lottery fund.

National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said they are keen to hear from anyone who may have the winning ticket.

And she encouraged players in the Stillorgan area to carefully check any tickets they may still have.

She said: “We have just days left to reunite a Daily Million Plus player in Stillorgan with their €500,000 prize.

“The winning ticket was purchased at Tesco in Stillorgan Shopping Centre and matched all numbers in the 2pm draw on 28th March.

“With the deadline fast approaching on Thursday, 26th June, we’re encouraging everyone in the area to check any old tickets they might have tucked away.

“You never know – this could be your winning moment.”

Winners should sign the back of the ticket and keep it safe.

And they are now being urged to contact the National Lottery prize claims team to arrange collection without delay.

Winners can ring 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to make arrangements.

The lucky player will then be invited to Lottery HQ to collect their prize.

This comes just days after a record-breaking €250m winning EuroMillions ticket was sold at Clifford’s Centra on Shandon Street in Cork.

The lucky punter became the National Lottery’s 13th millionaire of 2025 and the largest-ever Irish jackpot winner when they bagged the huge sum on Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw.

Clifford’s store manager Simon Champ said he had no idea who the lucky winner is, although speculation ranged from a syndicate to a tea lady working with the HSE.

‘DREAM COME TRUE’

Irish Lottery Manager, Cian Murphy, said: “A win of this size is life-changing.

“It is a celebration for the Lottery, the shop, the community and the winner. It is fantastic as it makes someone’s dream come true.”

But he said if winners do not want their identities revealed, the Lottery ensures that the name does not get out into the public arena.

Our UK seaside village is inundated with tourists after TV show made us globally famous – it’s forcing us out our home

A POPULAR TV show is forcing residents to leave their picturesque coastal village – because it has become a mecca for tourists.

Residents in the Cornish village of Port Isaac have fumed that droves of Doc Martin fans arriving each year have made their town unlivable.

Over the past two decades, house prices in the area have quadrupled[/caption]

Tens of thousands of ‘Clunatics’ – the nickname for fans of the show and star Martin Clunes – flock to the peaceful fishing village annually.

During the summer months, the town’s narrow winding lanes are so crowded that locals steer clear of the historic harbour.

Fans from the UK, USA, Australia and mainland Europe has turned the once quiet village into an international tourism hub.

To some in Port Isaac, this has brought new opportunities including walking tours, cafes and merchandise shops.

Rubber-necking tourists reportedly flock to view iconic landmarks such as the home of Martin Clunes’ character Dr Martin Ellingham, and Aunty Ruth’s cottage above Squeezy Belly Alley.

But locals have suggested that their home has become a “victim of its popularity”.

Over the past two decades, house prices in the area – renamed Port Wenn on the show – have quadrupled.

Mum-of-two Anne Wilce, 44, a lifelong Port Isaac resident, told how it had become “unrecognisable”.

She fumed: “It is horrific, there is no affordable housing available for anybody now.

“My sons are 19 and 22 and they won’t ever be able to afford to buy a house at this rate.

“Without more affordable housing in the village the younger generation will move away because there is nothing here for them.

“My house is 30 years old and it’s part of the last affordable housing that has been built here.

“I don’t go down to the village centre, I have no reason to because it’s all second homes.

“Even when something does come up for sale it’s ridiculously priced – nobody around here can afford it.

“Doc Martin brought a whole load of money into the village which has created jobs for people and helped this community.

“But it is also a victim of its popularity and it doesn’t feel like our village any more.”

Tourism has long since overtaken fishing as Port Isaac’s main industry.

Local businesses have thrived as a result of the town’s worldwide fame.

John Cleave, who was brought up in the village and runs the Boathouse fashion and gift shop, agrees that the show has changed village life.

“The locals talk about BDM – that’s Before Doc Martin.

“It was always favoured by comparatively few people who simply saw it as a beautiful, typical Cornish fishing village.

“As a business you could close your doors from October to Easter and it wouldn’t make a lot of difference.

“Thanks to Doc Martin we now have all-year-round trade.”

The British comedy-drama first aired in 2004.

On the outer edge of the village – next to Port Isaac’s real GP surgery – sits a small housing estate containing some of the village’s only affordable homes.

They were constructed around 30 years ago and according to residents they were the last affordable homes built in the village.

There are now just two active fishing boats remaining in the village – compared with 174 holiday lets on Airbnb alone.

In the past year, semi-detached properties in Port Isaac sold for an average of £810,000, with terraced properties fetching £616,250, according to Rightmove.

Shop worker Elisha Scott, 19, and her family have lived in the area for 10 years.

She said: “Nobody my age can afford to rent let alone buy a house here, all my friends still live with their parents.

“I’m not really thinking about house prices though because I don’t think I’ll stay here for a long time, there just aren’t the job opportunities.

“Doc Martin definitely made a difference to Port Isaac, there are always fans of the show looking around the village.

“What has come with that is a lot of people buying second homes here which has made it too expensive for locals.”

Earlier this month a new plan was unveiled to build more affordable homes for local people.

Tre Haven Community Land Trust (CLT) has started negotiations with Cornwall Council to purchase land for 25 affordable housing developments.

The proposal has support from the area’s Lib Dem MP Ben Maguire and local celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw.

But critics point out the site sits on a main road several miles from the village – with almost no public transport links to shops or schools.

Unemployed Ciaran Patching, 20, said: “It took me two years of searching and I feel incredibly lucky to be here, before that I was living with my mum in the town.

“I would love to be able to buy my own house here but it doesn’t feel like that will ever be an option at the moment.

“Port Isaac is definitely very popular in summer but in winter it can be dead.

“The popularity of Doc Martin has helped a lot of businesses around here but it has made it hard for year round residents.”

I spent £37k & get fillers every week to have the biggest lips in the world…breathing is hard & people call my pout ugly

A CONTENT creator has admitted to spending over £37,000 on lip filler to ensure she has the “biggest lips in the world.”

Vienna Würstel, who lives in Majorca, Spain, and is widely known for her huge pout, claimed that strangers call her extreme lips “ugly”, but doesn’t plan to stop the filler anytime soon.

But strangers in the street and online trolls criticise her extreme pout[/caption]

She won’t let the haters get to her and wants a pout that’s “even bigger”[/caption]

Speaking to Truly on a recent episode of Hooked On The Look, Vienna said: “I have the biggest lips in the world, but I won’t stop there and want to go even bigger.”

The influencer began cosmetic procedures at the age of just 18, when she first got lip filler and now, her body has “more plastic than body fat.”

She has had multiple procedures and surgery to achieve her unique look, including a breast augmentation, a lip lift, an eye lift, a BBL, as well as cheek and chin implants.

In total Vienna has spent around $160,000 [£119,565] on surgery and $50,000 [£37,365] just for her lips.

So dedicated to her plumped-up pout, Vienna jets from Majorca to Frankfurt to get her filler fix, as she explained: “I get lip filler sometimes every week, mostly it’s between two and four weeks.

“I want them really big, really extreme. I want to really stand out.”

But Vienna receives a lot of negative attention over her large lips, as she admitted: “I get a lot of judgement because of my appearance.

“People film directly in my face, people scream at me at how ugly I am. I get a lot of stares.”

Not only this, but online trolls have urged her to “sue” her plastic surgeon”, called her look “nasty” and claimed that her surgeon “should be arrested.”

And it’s not just judgement that Vienna has to deal with – she also finds breathing a challenge as a result of the size of her pout.

She confessed: “Having big lips totally affects how I talk but also how I drink or eat or breathe. Sometimes it’s even hard to breathe.”

I have the biggest lips in the world, but I won’t stop there and want to go even bigger

Vienna Würstel

But despite the judgement, Vienna is determined to continue looking exactly how she wants, as she acknowledged: “I will never stop getting plastic surgeries because it makes me the person I want to be.”

Social media users react

YouTube users were left gobsmacked by Vienna’s plump pout and many eagerly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

What are the risks of lip fillers?

THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used.

The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand.

Serious problems are rare but can include:

  • Infection
  • A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine
  • The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery
  • Scarring
  • Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness

You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you’re not happy with the results or experience lumpiness.

One person asked: “What kind of beautician and plastic surgeon allows this?? Surely this is almost illegal??”

Another added: “She looks like she had an allergic reaction to something. What physician would allow this?”

A third commented: “She doesn’t look human.”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “It looks so painful!”

Not only this, but another gasped: “That looks very uncomfortable.”

I tried jet washing my patio slabs & they still looked dirty – a 69p Aldi buy got them looking brand new

WE’VE all been there – standing in the garden with a jet washer in hand, full of optimism, ready to blast away months of grime from the patio.

But sometimes, no matter how determined you are, those stubborn stains just won’t budge.

That’s exactly what happened to Evie, a council house mum who regularly shares her cleaning tips and tricks on TikTok via her page ‘evie_brooks’.

In her latest video, Evie revealed her struggle with her patio slabs, admitting that despite her best efforts with a jet washer, it “hardly did anything.”

Frustrated but determined, Evie stumbled upon a life-changing tip during a casual scroll through the comments section on cleaning TikToks.

A recommendation buried within the comments caught her attention – someone suggested using a 69p bottle of Aldi bleach as a simple yet effective solution for sparkling patios.

Intrigued, Evie decided to give it a go.

She poured the bleach over the slabs, letting it soak in for around five minutes without scrubbing or extra effort.

Then, she fired up her jet washer again – and the results were nothing short of incredible.

In her video, Evie showed off her transformed patio slabs, which looked as good as new.

The dull, dirty orange tint had vanished, replaced by a fresh, clean surface that instantly brightened her garden – and all for less than a pound.

Evie’s discovery is proof that sometimes the simplest hacks can make the biggest difference.

So, if your patio is looking worse for wear, maybe it’s time to head to Aldi, grab that 69p bleach, and give it a go.

And who knows – your cleaning success story might just inspire someone else.

Evie’s video quickly gained traction, racking up an impressive 117.7k views and 21 comments in just one day.

Viewers were quick to share their own advice and experiences:

One commented: “Might work even better when you brush in the bleach before you powerwash. Spread it evenly and let it sit for a few minutes.”

A third chimed in: “Mould and mildew spray by Astonish can get in Poundland. I’ve tried both, mold spray is way better!”

June gardening jobs

The Sun's Gardening Editor, Veronica Lorraine, has shared the tasks you should take this month.

Stake out leggy perennials

With all the dramatic weather we’ve been having, it’s definitely time to stake out your leggy perennials (the ones that come back every year). Heavy rain and growth spurts, can make them collapse and flop.

Picking out the slugs and snails

Hopefully as we move into summer they  will do less damage as the plants get bigger.  The best way is still to go out at night with a head torch to find them.

Pick elderflower heads

You can use them to make your own cordial, or add to cakes, champagne or even fry them in batter.

Get on top of weeds

It’s around now that weeds really ramp up in the garden, so keep on top of them with hoe-ing – or just the traditional ‘on your knees with a hand fork’. Try and avoid chemicals – remember weeds are just plants in the wrong place.

Up the mowing

You’ll need to mow your lawn weekly now – if you’ve got time, weed it beforehand as once you mow you chop off the leaves and its harder to see them.

Check on your tomatoes

Your tomato plants will need attention – water, feed and regularly and pinch out the sideshoots.

Chelsea Chop

There’s still time for the Chelsea Chop – plants like Rudbeckia’s, Asters, Penstemons, Sedums and other perennials can be cut back by a third to help them get a bit more bushy, and prolong the flowering period.

Sort out your tulips

If you can be bothered and have space – lift and story your tulip  bulbs to ensure colour next Spring.

Deadheading your roses

Take them down to the first set of healthy leaves – which will ensure more flowers for longer.

Enjoy your space

Take some time to sit and enjoy your garden or outside space – it’s great for your mental health. Even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference.

Jeff Bezos’ $500m luxury superyacht heads to Venice for world’s most lavish wedding as he ties knot with Lauren Sanchez

BILLIONAIRE Jeff Bezos is set to tie the knot with fiancée Lauren Sanchez – kicking off lavish celebrations aboard his $500 million superyacht.

The couple will be joined by their celebrity friends ahead of their wedding aboard the yacht in Venice’s waters this Friday.

Koru took five years to build

The week-long pre-wedding festivities are estimated to cost roughly $15 to $20 million (£12 to £16 million).

Around 200 guests are expected to attend the wedding of the 61-year-old Amazon founder and 55-year-old journalist fiancée.

The wedding planning company has worked with stars like George and Amal Clooney, as well as Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault.

Bezos proposed to Sánchez in 2023 aboard the yacht, presenting her with a 20-carat pink diamond ring worth $2.5 million.

The luxury vessel, Koru – named after the Māori word for “loop” or “coil” – symbolises new beginnings.

Measuring 417 feet in length with three towering masts over 230 feet high, Koru is currently the world’s largest sailing yacht, according to Boat International.

The superyacht can reach speeds of up to 17 knots per hour, powered by twin, 1,500hp MTU diesel engines.

It cruises comfortably at 15 knots – about 2.25 knots faster than the average for similar vessels.

Said to have been first commissioned by Bezos in 2018, the yacht was built by Dutch yacht maker Oceanco near Rotterdam and delivered to Gibraltar in April 2023.

The superyacht’s support vessel reportedly added another $75 million to the already staggering $500 million cost.

Its exterior design was completed by Dutch company Dykstra Naval Architects, while London-based company Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi completed its interior design.

Koru can host up to 18 guests in nine staterooms, along with around 36 crew members.

Its full features remain unclear, but Architectural Digest reports that Koru includes multiple outdoor lounging areas, three jacuzzis and a swimming pool.

The wedding has been in the works for months with Bezos all set to splash his billions to marry bombshell supermodel Sanchez.

After five years of dating, 61-year-old Bezos popped the question to Sanchez over a $2.5million 20-carat ring May 2023,

The couple hosted a decadent engagement party on their megayacht in Positano, Italy, in August 2023.

That same year Sanchez, 55, a former US TV journalist and helicopter pilot, told Vogue that she “blacked out a bit” during their proposal after seeing her multimillion-dollar ring.

Bezos, whose estimated net worth is $212billion, reportedly placed the ring under her pillow before Sanchez found and opened the box.

Harris confirms 18 Irish citizens evacuated from Iran and Israel after ‘monumental’ US blitz and Ayatollah revenge vow

TAINISTE Simon Harris has confirmed that a total of 18 Irish citizens have been evacuated from Israel and Iran after the removal of three more people today.

The evacuations come as conflict between Middle Eastern superpower Iran and the Jewish state of Israel reaches its tenth day.

Reuters
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed revenge against long-time enemy US[/caption]

The battle began last Friday when Israel, led by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, launched missiles at Iran in a bid to destroy growing nuclear facilities.

For some 20 months before, the state had been subject to attacks from Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon while they waged war on Hamas and conducted devastating strikes on the Gaza strip.

And early on Sunday morning, the Trump administration waded into the Iran-Israel conflict when the US backed Israel by carrying out major strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Days before, Harris, who also serves as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence, confirmed that hundreds of Irish citizens were seeking evacuation options from war-gripped Iran and Israel.

Since then, 18 people have been returned home from the Middle East in a group of fifteen and then of three.

The latest cohort consisted of three people who were evacuated from Iran earlier today.

Fine Gael leader Harris confirmed the evacuation in a statement in which he thanked European partners for their help.

He said: “I am pleased to confirm that three Irish citizens and their dependents were assisted to depart Iran overnight and will now travel home.

“I want to extend our gratitude to our European friends and partners for their excellent support.

“All citizens still in Iran are reminded to register at citizensregistration.dfa.ie so we can stay in touch and keep you updated on important developments.

“This follows the successful evacuation of 15 Irish citizens and their dependents from Israel yesterday.

“Throughout this crisis, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and our Embassies have remained in regular contact with Irish citizens in the region.

“We have worked closely with our EU and other partners to exchange information and coordinate our consular response to the situation.

“Today, I am at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels where I will discuss our response to this crisis with my EU counterparts.”

On Saturday, 15 Irish citizens and their dependants were successfully evacuated from Israel.

The group were assisted by Austria and will return home in the coming days.

US JOINS THE FIGHT

Speaking at government buildings, Harris said that 200 Irish citizens are registered with the Israeli embassy in the state’s capital of Tel Aviv.

And he added that a “small number” of Irish citizens in Iran were also seeking evacuation.

Harris said: “We continue to advise citizens in both Israel and Iran to remain vigilant, to monitor developments and media, and to follow advice from the authorities, including when this is to shelter in place.

“All citizens in the region should register with the nearest Irish Embassy, if they have not already done so.”

And he said that the Irish government is in close contact with all Irish citizens in both unstable regions, and vowed that the Irish government is carrying out political work on the wider situation.

The evacuations come after long-time Israeli ally the United States, led by unpredictable President Trump, came to the table.

‘MONUMENTAL ATTACK’

Early on Sunday morning, the western global superpower joined the conflict by targeting Iranian facilities that were key to the the country’s nuclear goals.

79-year-old Trump has been firm in his position that decades-old enemy Iran is on the brink of creating their own nuclear weapons.

He left the G7 summit in Canada where, among other issues, the future of the world economy is discussed, early, to focus on the escalating Middle East conflict.

And following Sunday morning’s attack, he hailed the US military for their “monumental” attack.

He claimed that the force took the “bomb out of Iran’s hands” and “obliterated” the country’s nuclear ambitions.

But Iran, led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has vowed revenge on the US for their involvement in the conflict.

Advisoer to the Ayatollah Ali Akbar Velayati said bases used by US forces could be attacked in response.

He said: “America has attacked the heart of the Islamic world and must await irreparable consequences.”

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES

DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 - and it was an instant hit.

Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland’s first ‘shopping frenzy’.

During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne’s ‘Better Value’ bargains.

Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 – starting with apples and oranges.

The retailer said: “Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town.

“Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong.

“Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas.”

The retailer’s first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960.

They added: “In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed.

“Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England.”

Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people.

Separately, Dunnes Stores designers have dropped more summer items – and they make the perfect festival look.

An Irish shopper has taken to social media to share a look at the new must-have items.

Emer, who posts under the username @arlolnyrd on Instagram, shared a picture showing off her fabulous outfit from Dunnes Stores for a concert gig.

She revealed the stunning outfit consisting of the Gallery Athena Mesh Skirt, the bargain Savida Bailey Tassel Waistcoat, a black top, a pair of Birkenstocks and sunglasses.

And it’s perfect for festivals and outdoor events during summer.

Talking to The Irish Sun, Emer said: “Beautiful long pink tiered tulle skirt €30 can be dressed up or down very light and a statement piece. I got so many questions on it.

“Soft faux leather fringed cropped waistcoat €15.

‘ON TREND’

“Dunnes styling lately absolutely on trend.”

The Gallery Athena Mesh Skirt is priced at €30 and comes in a gorgeous light baby pink.

It comes with an elasticated waist and a comfortable lining, combining comfort and luxury into one.

Dunnes Stores chiefs said this skirt will “bring some individuality to your wardrobe” if you’re feeling adventurous.

Shoppers can bag it in sizes 8 to 18 in stores only, as it is no longer available to purchase online.

The bargain Savida Bailey Tassel Waistcoat is priced at €15, reduced from €30.

It is crafted from a high-shine faux leather and boasts a clean, streamlined shape perfect for layering.

The waistcoat also comes with all-over tassels, making a fashion statement piece for a festival or night out with the girls in town.

Fashion fans can pick it up in sizes XXS to XXL online and in stores nationwide.

Hong Kong’s dystopian ‘coffin homes’ where 200,000 live in tiny boxes with barely enough space for a bed amid high rents

HONG Kong residents crammed into so-called coffin homes sleep on tiny beds which fill entire rooms without enough space for luggage.

More than 200,000 people in Hong Kong, China, are forced to endure cramped, squalid conditions – living in tiny box-like homes with barely a few feet of personal space.

The former British colony has topped the list for the world’s most unaffordable city for the 14th year running.

And it also suffers one of the worst inequality rates on the planet.

Its subdivided flats, barely big enough to squeeze in a double bed, have become notorious for eye-watering rents.

Last week, YouTuber Drew Binsky, 34, shared shocking footage from inside one of the cramped properties.

After witnessing the horrifying conditions, he dubbed it the “sad reality of life in HK”.

He revealed that tenants are coughing up around £217 a month for a space in a flat packed with 26 box-sized “coffin homes”.

Astonishing footage showed a man lying in his makeshift cubicle, surrounded by belongings stuffed against the walls and spilling across his narrow bed.

A tiny TV sits at the foot of one resident’s bed, almost completely buried under a tangled mess of wires and plugs.

The exterior appears nearly entirely derelict, with many of the so-called homes wedged into crumbling tower blocks in run-down business districts.

Over the years, many photographers have captured the shocking scenes within the minuscule pads.

Each pod measures just 15 to 18 square feet, barely enough room to lie down and stash belongings.

The airless, windowless cells leave tenants with a severe lack of ventilation during seasons of sweltering heat.

Many try to alleviate this problem by keeping their flimsy sliding doors open, sacrificing any shred of privacy.

Residents also have to share filthy, bug-infested toilets with dozens of neighbours.

The stench of damp and decay is also potent when living inside the cramped cells.

These cramped homes are a world away from the luxury enjoyed by Hong Kong’s upper and even middle class, who live in mountaintop mansions or even standard flats.

“Coffin homes” have long attracted the international media spotlight as a symbol of the city’s failed housing policies.

But Hong Kong officials have pledged to phase out the infamous “coffin homes” by 2049.

They have set new rules on minimum living space and safety standards for subdivided flats.

Local authorities said they have identified enough land to build 308,000 public housing units over the next decade.

Since July 2022, around 49,000 people have been moved into public rental housing, with another 18,400 units of temporary accommodation made available as a short-term fix.

Hong Kong was also known for its sprawling fortress which was once the most crowded city on Earth.

With some 50,000 people crammed into a few blocks of concrete jungle, Kowloon Walled City was an ungoverned place plagued by lawlessness.

The city was a wonder in itself – with thousands of families and businesses housed in some 300 interconnected high-rise buildings across 6.4 acres of land.

Haunting pictures showed the grim reality of the concrete jungle, which existed as a Chinese territory, with narrow tower blocks packed tight against each other.

The astonishing scenes echo living standards in Manila, where slums are among the most tightly packed in the world.

Extraordinary aerial images shed light on just how crowded the shanty towns really are in the Philippines capital.
