CORONATION Street viewers have predicted a shock death for a fan favourite – 20 years after they first arrived on the cobbles.
Numerous residents have come and gone since the ITV soap launched in 1960.
ITVCoronation Street is to be rocked by a mystery involving Nina and Summer[/caption]
ITVFans think Amy Barlow is involved in some way[/caption]
HandoutThe character Amy has been on Coronation Street for over 20 years[/caption]
Earlier this week, fans saw Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) in the aftermath of a distressing experience.
In tears and visibly shaken up, the distraught pair made their way to Roy’s Rolls.
Both women agreed they couldn’t go back to what had happened off-screen, as Nina cried: “We 100% cannot go back.”
Taking to X, some fans believed the mysterious incident somehow involved Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) – and predicted a grim fate.
One wrote: “Definitely more to come! But it could be to do with Amy.”
Another agreed: “I think something happened with Amy because she’s not mentioned in spoilers for the rest of the week. Poor Amy!”
While a third remarked: “Oh yeah! Maybe they left for dead?”
Amy first appeared in Corrie on February 9, 2004 – the episode where she was born.
The star joked she’s got her sights set on beating soap legend Bill Roache’s 65-year reign on the cobbles.
Discussing her on-screen grandfather, Elle said: “Bill, we have spent 15 years together. They are more than colleagues, they do become a part of your family.
“It’s quite the challenge to beat. I am young enough to do it, I guess. It must be incredible for someone to be here 65 years.
“All the stories he must have done and all the people he must have met.
“Who knows what the future will bring? But right now I am loving Corrie more than ever and have no plans to leave, so long as they still want me.”
History of the Coronation Street set
By Jake Penkethman, TV Reporter
1960-1968 – Whilst the Coronation Street set remained on Quay Street for 53 years, it actually had three separate studio sites. The first was an entirely indoor wooden set which was used for the first eight years of filming. This encompassed a replica of the Street built entirely indoors. The set was known to be awkward for actors to use and the houses brought to three quarter scale.
1968-1982 – In 1968, the addition of an outdoor set was created to adjoin the existing indoor set which was still used for filming right up until 1982. The set was used only when required with many of the show’s cast reportedly hating it and describing it as ‘the coldest place on Earth’.
1982-2013 – A brand new set was officially constructed in 1982 and was almost built fully to scale but still only permitted for one car to drive down the cobbled street. The house were purpose-built using reclaimed Salford brick in order to give it the most authentic feel possible. During these years, some of the show’s buildings were adapted to allow for both interior and exterior filming at the same time. These locations included Elliott’s Butchers, Barlow’s Buys, Prima Doner and Webster’s Autos. The final scenes to be recorded on this site occurred in December 2013. By early 2014, it began operating as a tourist attraction for around two years before ultimately being demolished and re-purposed in 2017.
2014-present – In early 2014, the show’s set moved to the TV hub of the North – MediaCityUK in nearby Salford Quays. It is now located a stone’s throw from major TV studio Dock 10 as well as the BBC’s base in the North – home to Blue Peter, Newsround, BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport. The new set was even bigger and built to 9/10 the scale of a real street and allowed for two card to be travelling down the road at opposite sides for the very first time. The site has even undergone major expansions during its 10 years. Just four years after opening in 2018, a brand new set extension was unveiled which introduced viewers to Victoria Gardens for the first time in its history. The Weatherfield North tram stop also became visible as did a series of shops which became used as part of product placement advertising deals. Brands to have been seen on the Street so far include a Co-Op, a Costa Coffee and a branch of Hay’s Travel. Four years later in 2022, another brand new set was unveiled, this time being the heavily mentioned Weatherfield Precinct. It became the first time in 62 years that the area had ever been seen on screens. It fearued a variety of shop fronts, a playground and a number of small flats which have begun to house more and more residents on the street in recent months.
She added: “I still can’t believe I have been there for 15 years. It’s hard to describe because in one way it feels that long but in another way it doesn’t.
“I joined when I was just seven and I’m now 22. I was just a young kid. I am so fortunate though.
“I still love Corrie, where I work and everyone I work with. I am just really lucky.”

Why are clothes from Next so good?
By Abby McHale Deputy Fashion Editor
Abby McHale said: “Founded in the 80s Next has been a staple on the UK high street for decades.
“Known for being a one stop shop for all the family, it’s directories especially set them apart from the crowd over the years.
“More recently it’s expanded even further, adding a roster of external brands to its repertoire, even branching further into beauty.
“But fashion is what is at its core.
“Thanks to celebrity fashion collaborations with the likes of Rochelle Humes and Emma Willis the brand is up there with the most stylish on the high street.
“From smart tailoring, classic wardrobe staples, a plethora of shoes and bags and a summer shop to lust over, there is so much to choose from.
“The best thing about Next is that it’s reliable.
“Not only offering speedy delivery, the stores are as well as in the big cities situated in your local retail parks making them super accessible.
“Plus the pieces fit well, being true to size even when it comes to jeans, which we all know can be a tricky fit.
“It really is a brand that ticks all the boxes.
“Stylish clothes that also offer comfort and practicality with a price tag to go with – what more could you ask for?
“And it seems to be working for them with sales reported to be up 5.7 per cent in the first quarter of this year.”
Not only did fashion fans praise the “quality” of the affordable shorts, but they raved about the impressive “value for money” too.
One person said: “Good purchase! Bought to wear under a dress. Look good, feels nice and soft and comfy too!”

Hottest fashion trends of 2025
Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street.
The East/West Bag
Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s’ shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber.
In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder.
They’ve been on runway models’ arms at nearly ever designer show – think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta – and are hitting the high street now, too.
Powder pink
Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025.
Pantone may say that it’s the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own.
If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour.
The shell jacket
The ’80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025.
We all know we’re likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket.
Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in ‘80s windbreakers’.
Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion!
The turn-up jeans
While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we’re styling them is different.
This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups.
For this look, size doesn’t matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good – but only as it’s just one single fold.
Peep-toe shoe
Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event.
After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style.
From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street.
Sheer blouses
See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life – until now.
Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S ’25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season.
Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.

Smoke can be seen billowing from the curry house, on the city’s Ladypool Road, after a fryer caught fire on Sunday morning (June 22).
In the video, a crowd can be seen gathering on the street outside the venue as pedestrians lob rocks through windows to offer an escape route to staff.
One bystander is said to have brought a ladder to the scene to help with the rescue effort.
The footage shows the large first floor window smashed and cracked, while people can be seen stopping their cars and getting out to offer assistance.
One man reportedly jumped from a first floor window in a desperate bid to escape before being rushed to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
Four other people were treated at the scene after escaping the horror fire.
The iconic curry house featured recently on BBC2 when Michael Portillo visited the restaurant.
It regularly attracts visits from YouTubers and celebrities with the Hairy Bikers and Joe Lycett both eating at the restaurant.
Shababs is one of the last remaining original restaurants that created the iconic balti dish 38 years ago.
West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service deployed three fire engines to the dramatic scene in Birmingham’s “Balti Triangle”.
Fire and Rescue workers found the premises “significantly smoke-logged”, a statement said.
It continued: “Shortly after 11.10am on Sunday 22 June, we responded to Ladypool Road, Birmingham.
“Three fire engines responded, crewed by firefighters from Ladywood, Highgate and Hay Mills stations.
“The first crew arrived at the scene within two minutes of being mobilised.
“This was a fire, believed to have started accidentally, in a two-storey commercial premises used as a restaurant. Both floors were significantly smoke-logged.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
“One person was helped to safety by members of the public from the building before we arrived.
“They are believed to have been conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after presenting symptoms of smoke inhalation.
“Four members of the public were checked by paramedics for smoke inhalation and were all discharged at the scene.
“The final fire crew left this incident at 2.25pm, with police colleagues still in attendance.”
The famous curry house has been open since 1987 and is one of the city’s best known “Balti Triangle” restaurants.
Zafar Hussain, the owner of Shababs, has said he wants to open the curry house for business again by the end of the week.

How to treat burns
Your skin has three layer; the outer layer (epidermis), the dermis (which contains vessels, nerves, hair follicles) and the deeper layer of fat (subcutis).
A full thickness burn is when all layers of skin are damaged, while a superficial burn is when only the top layer has been effected.
The NHS says to treat a burn:
Immediately get the person away from the heat source
Remove any clothing or jewellery, including babies’ nappies, but do not move anything that’s stuck to the skin
Cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 to 30 minutes – do not use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances like butter
Make sure the person keeps warm by using a blanket, for example
After cooling the burn, cover the burn by placing a layer of cling film over it – a clean plastic bag could also be used for burns on your hand
Use painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen
Raise the affected area if possible to reduce swelling
If it’s an acid or chemical burn, dial 999, carefully try to remove the chemical and any contaminated clothing, and rinse the affected area using as much clean water as possible
You should go to a hospital A&E department for:
All chemical and electrical burns
Large or deep burns – any burn bigger than the injured person’s hand
Burns that cause white or charred skin – any size
Burns on the face, neck, hands, feet, any joints or genitals

Posh and Becks' plan to make Harper Beckham a star
David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to help their daughter Harper become a star. The couple, who have already seen their sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz venture into the public eye, are said to be keen on guiding their youngest child into the limelight. Harper, who is 13 years old, has already shown a keen interest in fashion and beauty, much like her mother, Victoria.
Victoria, a former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, and David, an ex-footballer, believe that Harper has the potential to make a significant impact in the entertainment industry. They are allegedly exploring various opportunities for her, including social media ventures and brand collaborations. The Beckhams are known for their savvy business acumen and are reportedly ensuring that Harper’s foray into stardom is carefully managed.
The couple’s decision to support Harper’s ambitions comes as no surprise, considering their own successful careers and the prominence of their family in the media. With her parents’ guidance and the resources at their disposal, Harper could very well follow in their footsteps and carve out her own niche in the world of fashion and entertainment.

The song was from the band’s 1969 album Abbey Road before the band broke up.
