I had given up on men & my time to be a mum was running out – so friend got me pregnant using a cup & Calpol syringe

LYING down with her legs up against the wall, Tanya Bennet had decided not to get her hopes up about falling pregnant this time.

The 36-year-old had now tried two times to get pregnant with a cup of her friend’s semen and a Calpol syringe – none had succeeded.

For Tanya, a marketing manager from Telford, Shropshire, the clock was ticking for her to become a mum, but after coming out of another failed relationship, she had lost all hope of finding the one to have a child with.

Two years ago, Tanya was in a relationship and fell pregnant at the age of 34, she decided she was ready to be a mum even if it wasn’t planned.

Tragically, Tanya had a chemical pregnancy – a pregnancy loss that happens before the fifth week.

Speaking exclusively with Fabulous, she says: “After that, I was like, okay, I’m ready to be a mum now, I need to have a baby.

“It’s so weird. It’s like something just ticks in your head and you’re like obsessed with it. So then I got pregnant again.”

Unfortunately, Tanya had another miscarriage at seven weeks, leaving her feeling like motherhood would never happen for her.

She then found herself single once again and soon decided she would try for a baby without a man.

“I don’t want a boyfriend. I don’t like men. They do my head in. I decided then I was going to have a baby by myself basically,” she adds.

“I’m not waiting. I’m not giving up my chance of being a mum to wait around to try and find the perfect boyfriend that doesn’t exist,” she adds.

“I am financially stable, I’ve got my own house. You get a lot of help as a single person for childcare.”

Donor Finder

Tanya then had the task of finding a way to get pregnant without the opposite sex.

She decided to look into sperm banks and IVF, but it was way too pricey at £1,500 a pop.

“Obviously the plus with that is that it’s been vetted and you can kind of choose traits and features and whatnot. But that wasn’t an option because that was £1,500 per go,” she explains.

Tanya then went down a rabbit hole and found Facebook pages where men were offering their semen for free to women in need and she decided to take a look at what was up for grabs.

SPERM AND EGG DONATION RULES

DONATED sperm and eggs are used in IVF for people who cannot have their own biological children due to fertility issues.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority estimates one in every 170 children born today is conceived with the help of a donor.

It is illegal for donors to be paid in the UK, to prevent people doing it for the wrong reasons or prospective parents from being exploited.

Men aged 18 to 46 can donate sperm

  • They must go through medical checks to make sure they do not have blood-borne diseases or genetic defects that could be passed on to a baby.
  • You cannot donate anonymously. If a child is born using your sperm, they will have the right to know who you are when they turn 18, but you do not have a legal responsibility to look after them.

Women aged 18 to 35 can donate their eggs

  • They must go through medical screening for illnesses, genetic problems, and some clinics will not allow obese or otherwise unhealthy women to donate.
  • You can donate eggs to someone you know but there are strict rules against mixing sperm and eggs within families.
  • Egg donation is the same as the early stages of IVF treatment, and the donor has to take hormonal drugs to stimulate the production and maturation of the eggs before they are removed using a needle.
  • You cannot donate anonymously. If a child is born using your egg, they will have the right to know who you are when they turn 18, but you do not have a legal responsibility to look after them.

She explains that she had friends who were lesbians use the group to get pregnant and decided it was the right path for her.

But not long after joining the group and sharing her story, she found there was a grim side to being a single woman looking for a donor.

I know that sounds so bad but I could not wait this time to have a baby for it to look like the flippin sperm donor.

Tanya Bennett

She quickly got messages from at least ten men offering their ‘help’ on the condition that she would sleep with them to get pregnant instead of providing the semen.

“There were the kind of weirdos that wanted to do natural insemination instead of artificial, and then there were the people that I just didn’t want my baby to look like that sperm donor.”

“I know that sounds so bad, but I could not wait this time to have a baby for it to look like the flippin sperm donor.”

“I don’t want to have sex with you. I just need the sperm,” she continues.

DIY Job

Fortunately for Tanya, she had a male friend who was willing to help her out after hearing her story

“I was just getting frustrated because every single month that was going past, I was getting older,” Tanya says. “So in the end, my friend gave me the donation.”

Tanya and her friend meet up three times to impregnate her, using an ovulation tracking app to see when it would most likely work.

Can you imagine all the seedy stuff that goes on in there?

Tanya Bennett

As the pair was doing it at home on their own terms, they often met at her house or in hotels to get the deed done.

“So I did it at home and it’s pretty much kind of, you know, the old turkey baster way,” she explains.

“He just goes and does what he’s doing in the toilet, brings me the pot and then I just go and syringe it into the Calpol syringe and just put it in.”

The last time they met, Tanya made her way to a hotel where he and his boyfriend were staying for the night.

“Can you imagine all the seedy stuff that goes on in there? It’s funny,” she adds.

She then waited for him in his bedroom while he finished collecting the goods in the bathroom and then took the cup.

Tanya was sure they were too early for the sperm to make contact with the egg, but she still went through the process, keeping her legs high to help it swim up.

“They say that doesn’t help,” Tanya says, “But in my brain I was like no, that helped all right.”

“We were just laughing about it as I’m just sat there fully clothed with my legs up.

“And I’m like ‘Right, well that’s my 15 minutes done. I’ll see you next month.’

“It is literally that transactional.

“It didn’t feel weird because he’s my friend.”

Despite being skeptical she’d fall pregnant, Tanya checked a pregnancy test and found her dreams had finally come true.

“When I went for my 12 week scan, they said that I’d actually ovulated four days early and I was four days ahead in my pregnancy,” she says.

“So it actually turned out to be the exact perfect time.”

Going It Alone

While the pair are friends, they have decided that Tanya will be raising her son alone.

She revealed that later in life, if he asks, they are open to telling him who his dad is.

To be honest, I’d rather be a much happier mum to this baby than be stressed out and having a boyfriend that doesn’t live up to expectations.

Tanya Bennett

Tanya continues: “He’d almost be like the uncle or a friend. It sounds so bad but I think in a way it’s so much better knowing that actually two people really really wanted you.

“And he wanted to help me as a friend, rather than I was with a man and a man can’t be bothered to look after his kid and has abandoned his child.”

As for the future, Tanya says she doesn’t plan to have another child or boyfriend.

“I think I’m gonna be one and done but only because I’m gonna be nearly 37 by the time I have him and in my head I think ‘Well, I can take this baby on two holidays a year,’ whereas if I have another kid who knows how long it’s gonna be till I get pregnant?” she says.

“It’s gonna be way more expensive with two kids.”

“To be honest, I’d rather be a much happier mum to this baby than be stressed out and having a boyfriend that doesn’t live up to expectations and I’m just being let down when I can just go and have a baby by myself.”

She adds: “My message to any kind of woman that is contemplating how they’re gonna have a baby and thinking they need to wait around for Mr. Right is to just do it by yourself.

“You’re gonna be, in my opinion, happier and less stressed.”

Family’s fury over ‘botched’ mission to save tourist, 26, who died in volcano as tour guide denies he ‘left her behind’

THE heartbroken family of a tourist who died trapped in a volcano blasted the “botched” rescue mission and claimed her tour guide abandoned her.

Brazilian traveller Juliana Marins, 26, slipped and plunged more than 1,600 feet from a hiking trail along the crater rim of Mount Rinjani on Saturday morning.

The Brazilian national, who was a publicist and dancer from Niterói, near Rio de Janeiro, was trapped for four days after she fell while trekking up Indonesia’s second-highest volcano.

Juliana’s sister, Marianna, told Fantástico that her tragic sibling “got very tired” during her hike and asked her guide “to stop for a while”.

But in a shocking revelation, she said that said the guide decided to continue without Marins, leaving her on her own.

Marianna said: “They continued on, and the guide didn’t stay with her.”

She told how her sister was doing the hike with a small group of five hikers and just one guide.

Marianna explained that her sister spent an entire hour resting alone before her horror slip at sunrise.

The late tourist‘s sister said: “She didn’t know where to go. She didn’t know what to do.

“When the guide came back because he saw that she was taking too long, he saw that she had fallen down there.”

The guide was reportedly able to see Juliana’s flashlight, nearly 1,000 feet down the treacherous cliff.

Her initial cries for help were reportedly heard on Saturday, with witnesses saying she was “safe, but in shock”.

In another heartbreaking detail, a friend of Juliana reportedly said that the hiker’s family learned she was missing from social media.

Juliana’s pal also alleged that Indonesian officials even provided conflicting updates about the tourist’s status when she was missing.

They received horrifying false claims that she had been found and provided with food and water.

The friend said: “We’re living in a nightmare here.”

And they described the updates they were given by authorities as “conflicting, delayed, and often false information”.

Marianna said of the rescue efforts which were hampered by poor weather: “At first, they tried to reach her with a rope that was shorter than necessary and couldn’t.”

The family also slammed Indonesian and Brazilian authorities.

Juliana’s sister raged during the rescue mission: “The Indonesian government is lying, and the embassy is not verifying the facts before informing us. She is not receiving supplies.

Rescue teams are battling to save a stranded Brazilian tourist who fell into a volcano in Indonesia.

Juliana Marins, 26, was trekking up Mount Rinjani, the second highest volcano in the country, when she reportedly slipped and fell from the hiking trail early morning on June 21.

The young woman, who works as a publicist and pole dancer, screamed as she slipped on the treacherous terrain and plunged off the edge overlooking the volcano's famous crater lake. She was said to have rolled 300 metres down the slope before coming to a stop in a rocky ravine.

Juliana, from Rio de Janeiro, was spotted by passing tourists after they heard her screams for help. She was lying on the ground, alive but unable to climb back up the treacherous slopes.

Officers were today, June 23, still battling to reach her and pull her to safety.

She also alleged that videos released by local officials as showing a rescue were staged.

Marianna said that the footage was taken “not during an actual rescue attempt”.

Her family also previously said on social media: “Juliana is NEEDING HELP! We don’t know the state of her health!

“She still has no water, food or warm clothes for three days!”

Juliana’s father, Manoel Marins, also blasted the Brazilian government for its lack of involvement.

He told Brazil’s TV Globo: “The embassy is not offering any support. The Brazilian government, which we’ve tried to contact, is also not helping us.

“This is very sad and extremely serious. She is a 26-year-old girl, a Brazilian citizen, and no one — except family and friends — seems to care.”

Heartbreaking footage showed the tourist smiling and joking with her pal before fatally falling into an active volcano crater.

She had been backpacking through Southeast Asia since February, documenting her solo trip on social media.

Her tragic final moments were shared by a pal she met along her travels – and they showed Juliana at the top of a summit just days before her death.

More clips showed the adventurous 26-year-old showing off the stunning vistas while riding on mopeds.

Other shots revealed the dancer jumping into picturesque sinkholes and exploring caverns.

In the last video, Juliana and her friend Frederica, jibed about the view at the top of Mount Rinjani as it had been concealed by cloud cover.

“I met Juliana the day before the trip. We were both traveling alone. We made it all the way to the top. It was very difficult.

“We climbed about 1,500 meters,” Federica told G1 after the horror.

In the clip Federica says sarcastically: “The view is amazing, you can tell it was so worth it.”

Juliana jokes: “Yeh, we did it for the view, so I’m glad, amazing!”.

This comes as distressing drone footage was also released which revealed Juliana trapped in a pit on the volcano as rescuers tried to reach her.

Tourists on the Indonesian island of Lombok spotted her inside the crater after hearing screams for help.

Juliana survived the fall but was unable to climb back up due to her injuries and had no access to food, water or shelter.

The first rescue team was dispatched at 2.32pm local time on Saturday.

After the initial alarm was raised, six more rescue teams tried to reach her.

They were supported by two helicopters and equipment including an industrial drill.

Cold temperatures and fog made search efforts on Sunday harder to navigate but a drone was able to locate Juliana.

However, when rescuers descended the volcano on Monday, she was no longer in the same spot.

Rescuers finally located her on Tuesday, but it was tragically too late.

Her family confirmed her death on social media, writing: “Today, the rescue team managed to reach the place where Juliana Marins was.

“With great sadness, we inform you that she did not survive.

“We remain very grateful for all the prayers, messages of affection and support that we have received.”

Earlier this week, Nikolas Osman, spokesperson for the East Lombok Police, said Juliana was hiking in a group and fell after suffering fatigue.

He said: “While heading to the summit of Rinjani on the way to the Cemara Tunggal area, the victim experienced fatigue and the guide at that time advised her to rest.

“Then the five guests in the tour group were taken by the guide to continue the journey.

“However, by the time he returned to fetch her, the Brazilian woman was already missing.”

Indonesian authorities deployed three helicopters to try and rescue Juliana, according to West Nusa Tenggara governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal.

Iqbal told reporters: “One helicopter from the Indonesian Armed Forces and national search and rescue agency (Basarnas) is expected to arrive at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM) around 2pm local time today.”

Before the incident, Juliana had visited Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

‘So much integrity’ – RTE viewers hail Stephen Cluxton for ‘principled stand’ Dublin GAA icon took during Parnells saga

RTE viewers praised Stephen Cluxton after watching the financial ruin of Parnells GAA Club detailed on Prime Time.

Established in 1893, the six-time county champions went into liquidation in January.

Cluxton was their most famous player

That such a big club could go under is all the more amazing given it became the richest GAA club in the country in 2008.

This was due to it selling land it had first acquired around Collinstown Lane near Dublin Airport in 1974 for around £100,000.

The club received €22million upon selling that land. Half of that sum was soon spent on purchasing land in their main catchment area of Coolock from the Marist Fathers.

The rest was duly wasted as the club embarked upon reckless spending practices while building a state of the art clubhouse and other facilities.

In one stark moment during Tuesday’s programme it’s stated that Parnells went from employing two members of staff in 2007 to 69 by 2013.

These habits ended up burdening the outfit with huge overheads as chickens came home to roost in the following years.

The moment involving nine-time All-Ireland winner Cluxton that drew widespread acclaim from the watching public occurred in 2014.

It informed viewers that the goalkeeper wrote an open letter to all members of the club’s Executive.

In it, he outlined his “disgust” at the direction the club was going in. This prompted his “highly unusual” decision to regrade with their second team.

In the letter, the 43-year-old is quoted as saying: “I don’t agree with the policy of head-hunting players.

“I don’t agree that inter-county players are treated to various perks. I am disgusted the club is now in debt.”

Among the online reaction to the startling show, prominent GAA journalist Cahair O’Kane praised: “Stephen Cluxton will be remembered for everything he’s achieved on the pitch.

“But part of his legacy of greatness ought to be the principled stand he took about the financial direction Parnells were taking. Fair play to him.”

Similarly, Conor succinctly agreed: “So much integrity. Great fella.”

LEADER ON AND OFF THE PITCH

Máire pondered: “Prime Time about Parnells is crazy to me! How was a club allowed to go that far without any intervention.

“The ‘disquiet’ should have been LOUDER, at least Stephen Cluxton showed a bit of integrity.”

Fin added: “Anyone watch the Prime Time programme on Parnell’s GAA Club? Boom to Bust. Absolutely shocking.

“Non Dublin fans might not like Clucko but his letter to the club in the midst of this fiasco, expressing his fears and thoughts, showed the character of the man – top class.”

To which Liz replied: “Most GAA people respect and admire Stephen Cluxton. He’s a terrific player and a great captain.

“He knew that Parnells were on the wrong track and expressed concerns but the club Executive ignored him. It became a social club. Shame on the Executive.”

In January, the north Dublin outfit returned their training ground complete with a floodlit astroturf, clubhouse and gym to the Marist Order.

I’ve had the real Mamma Mia romance & am madly in love with a Greek waiter – now we’re living together

A SINGLETON’S family holiday became a ‘Mamma Mia story’ when she hooked up with the Greek waiter who poured shots in her mouth – moving there two months later.

Beth Winstone jetted off to Zakynthos, Greece, with her mum and grandma in August 2023 and visited the restaurant her family had gone to every year.

The 23-year-old admits she was not looking to find love after coming out of a ‘bad’ relationship just months earlier but met Gabriel Alia while he worked as a waiter at his uncle’s restaurant.

Beth said Gabriel, 25, took her out for a drink on the third night of her holiday, and she fell in love instantly, meeting with him every day for the remainder of the trip.

But when Beth returned to the UK, she said she got a flight back to Greece only two weeks later to see Gabriel as she didn’t want to be apart.

The Greek waiter ‘asked Beth to be his girlfriend’, and the two have been inseparable since, with Beth claiming she has found true love and that Greek men are ‘different’ to British men.

The content creator said Gabriel bought her drinks and danced with her, helping her to ‘get out of her shell‘ after her breakup.

Beth, from Birmingham, West Midlands, said: “In August 2023 my grandad died and my gran had already booked to go to Zante and I booked at the last minute, a month before we were meant to go.

“We went back to [a] restaurant [that the family liked to visit] and that’s when we met. I was previously in a relationship, it ended and it mentally destroyed me, it was really bad.

“I had absolutely no expectations in my head, I didn’t want to speak to anyone ever again and then that happened.

“When we were in the restaurant, I was just sat there oblivious because I wasn’t looking for anything. He kept trying to speak to me and asked if I ever smiled because apparently I had a moody face.

“It just went from there, he took me out on the third night of the holiday for a drink. After that, we’d see each other every day of the holiday, in the night after he finished work.

“When I got back home, two weeks later I flew back out on my own for five days, because he was still working.

“I came home and two days later at 2am in the morning I bought tickets for a flight from Manchester to Zante at 6am. I surprised him, he didn’t know I was going.

“The first time I went back after two weeks he asked me to be his girlfriend, but I was still a bit unsure because of the long distance. But I said yes, obviously.

“It’s the way he was with me, he’d made me laugh and stuff and take me out, not what most men do nowadays, he wanted to get to know me and meet my family and stuff, they loved him. It was meant to be.

“Greek men are different from English men, let me tell you that. I definitely had a Mamma Mia story, that’s what all my friends said.

“The relationship is getting better and better, we haven’t been apart a day since we met. He is the love of my life.”

Beth said: “I went back to Greece in October with my mum and nan, I quit my job as a waitress and then moved there for a whole week.

“Once summer season finished in Greece he flew back to England with me to meet my dad.

“We moved back to Greece in November, we got a house in Zante, and then after Christmas we decided to move back to the UK because it was really hard for me to find a job there in the winter.

“We tried both and we decided we like it here more.

“I moved over there just after two months of meeting him but I knew it was something, and it was.

“I absolutely didn’t expect to be with a Greek man at all, I was just going on holiday with my mum and gran and my cousin, it all just happened so fast.”

Beth explains she had been visiting Zante with family since 2012 and had met Gabriel before when she was younger, but had not recognised him.

Beth posted her and Gabriel’s story on social media, in a video that has gathered more than 500,000 views.

One commenter said: “Greek men are built different, you’ll be together forever.”

Another said: “Marry him & move back to Greece.”

A third said: “I witnessed a true love story.”

What is Mamma Mia about?

MAMMA Mia! is a musical romantic comedy film released in 2008, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and based on the hit 1999 stage musical of the same name.

The story is set on a beautiful, fictional Greek island, though it was filmed on location in Skopelos, Greece.

The film features the iconic music of ABBA, with songs written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, who were also involved in the film’s production.

The film stars Meryl Streep as Donna Sheridan, a spirited single mother, and Amanda Seyfried as her daughter Sophie, who secretly invites three of Donna’s former lovers—played by Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård—to her wedding, hoping to discover which one is her real father.

Mass Love Island dumping as FOUR stars are axed from the villa – and it’s not who you think

LOVE Island has swung the axe and culled FOUR Islanders in a savage mass dumping.

Two boys and two girls were sent packing after the shock sleepover twist – but it’s not who fans might think.

The shake-up happened after Helena Ford, Emily Moran, Dejon Noel Williams and Remell Mullings were taken for a night away at the Casa Amor villa with newcomers Will, Giorgio, Caprice and Poppy.

The main villa was rocked when a cheeky video arrived by text, teasing some of the cosy chats that had gone on.

Viewers have speculated the OG Islanders will be invited to bring a bombshell back to the villa.

But this series has been full of whiplash twists – and even the OGs from week one after not safe from this shock cull.

This will leave fans even more gobsmacked when they learn who the victims of the mass cull are.

A source said: “Four islanders have gone in one sweep but it won’t necessarily be who fans think.

“The sleepover Islanders’ return really shakes up the villa dynamic.”

The ‘The Sleepover’ has already begun stirring up trouble, with fans already goading for Remell to be axed.

Despite being in a seemingly happy couple with Alima back in the main villa, the social media influencer has wasted no time in exploring his options.

He immediately made a beeline for Poppy Harrison, 22, who seemed more than happy to accept his advances.

As they chatted, he told newly-single Poppy that he has not been “occupied” in the villa – despite coupling up with Alima.

Remell also held her hand just to test how nervous she was after Poppy joked that she would keep him “occupied”.

They then shared a bed together and spooned all night, with Poppy saying in the morning: “Yeah the cuddles were nice, and yeah I enjoyed it.”

The Sun previously revealed how dental hygienist Poppy only dumped her ex last week after learning she had been picked as a bombshell.

Fans have been left furious with Remell’s behaviour at The Sleepover, with one writing on X: “Remell you are losing me, I knew he can’t be trusted, I just knew it.”

Another added: “Remell’s going home whenever the public vote opens whether he chooses Alima or Poppy.

And a third raged: “‘I’ve not been occupied in the villa’ ?????? Bye I want Remmell so far gone.”

Last summer, the same Sleepover twist saw Joey Essex and Grace Jackson hook up in steamy scenes – and producers are hoping for more of the same from 2025’s Islanders.

The other three bombshells dropped into Casa are Giorgio Russo, who is football champion Alessia Russo’s brother, Hydrox competitor Will Means and nursery owner Caprice Alexandra.
