Monster GUILTY of stabbing boy, 14, to death and slashing at cops with Samurai sword in ‘ferocious’ rampage

A MONSTER has been found guilty of stabbing a 14-year-old boy to death and slashing at cops with a Samurai sword in a “ferocious” rampage.

Marcus Arduini Monzo ambushed Daniel Anjorin on April 30 last year as he made his way to school in Hainault, East London.

The youngster suffered a “devastating and unsurvivable chopping injury” to his neck and face during the horror.

Monzo also tried to kill Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield, Henry De Los Rios Polina, Sindy Arias and Donato Iwule in the 20-minute attack.

The Brazilian “mystic” has now been found guilty of murder and three counts of attempted murder following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Jurors heard he killed and skinned his own cat at home before setting off on the rampage after believing he was in the “Hunger Games”.

He carried out the attack with “murderous intent” over a 20-minute period on April 30.

Donato was the first to be attacked when Monzo “deliberately” drove into him in his van.

As he was knocked into a garden, Monzo got out the van and slashed his neck with the Samurai sword.

Donato managed to escape as emergency crews were scrambled to the residential street.

Meanwhile, Daniel was walking to school “minding his own business” when his life was “snuffed out in an instant”.

Chilling footage showed the attempts by brave officers to stop Monzo as Daniel lay gravely injured on the ground.

One officer yelled “drop it” but the so-called “mystic” replied: “Do you believe in God?”

He then fled through nearby gardens before being chased down an alleyway by PC Mechem-Whitfield.

The footage shows the brave cop approach Monzo, who then slashes at her with a sword as an officer yells “police officer stabbed”.

He also stabs another cop in the arm as they desperately tried to block the sword with a baton.

Monzo then burst into a house to attack a couple in their bedroom as their child slept next to them.

He shouted out “do you believe in God?” about four times then began to attack Henry De Los Rios Polania with the sword before attempting to stab his wife.

Jurors were told their lives were only spared because the youngster woke up and started to cry.

The court heard the “talented” martial artist spent nearly £1,000 on swords in December 2023 before cancelling the order.

He then bought two handmade Katana swords for £427.80 on February 21, 2024, with delivery coming through to his home in early April.

Footage showed Monzo branding a sword “freaking sexy” as he lunged around holding the weapon.

NHS systems were checked and revealed there were no documented mental health concerns or access to mental health services by Monzo.

But his brother Eduardo told the court Monzo had consumed ayahuasca – a hallucinogenic plant-based drink commonly used in South America – during a stay at a remote retreat in the Amazon.

He said he was “concerned” as the drink has caused a “negative response” in some people.

Eduardo said his brother began to withdraw from his family when he returned from the retreat.

The court heard no trace of DMT – the hallucinogen found in ayahuasca – was detected in Monzo’s system.

But prosecutors said his “conduct was brought about by self-induced intoxication in the form of drugs” that led to a “psychotic disorder”.

Monzo, of West Beckton, Newham, denied murder, four counts of attempted murder and one of wounding with intent.

He was remanded into custody to be sentenced at a later date.

THE HISTORY OF ALDI

The German discount supermarket chain came to Ireland in 1999.

Aldi’s first few shops opened in November 1999, with locations in Sandyford, Dublin, and Ballincollig, Cork.

By the mid-2000s, Aldi bosses had opened numerous stores, focusing on providing high-quality products at low prices.

As the recession hit 2008-2012, Aldi’s popularity grew as consumers became more price-conscious.

The supermarket giant continued it’s expansion in Ireland between 2013-2018, while refurbishing existing stores.

By 2018, Aldi had over 130 shops throughout the country.

The chain began to focus on expanding its range of Irish-made products and supporting local producers.

In 2023, Aldi had over 140 stores in Ireland.

The store invested in sustainability initiatives, such as reducing plastic packaging and increasing the availability of organic and eco-friendly products.

Aldi chiefs said: “At Aldi we are committed to supporting Irish suppliers. Developed in partnership with Bord Bia, Grow with Aldi is designed to help the very best Irish suppliers develop their brand.

“To date, we’ve invested €10 million in our Grow with Aldi development programme in a bid to find the very best Irish suppliers.

“As a result, for a limited time only there are over 47 new products, from 27 Irish suppliers available in store.”

Aldi have introduced technological advancements with self-checkout systems and contactless payment options.

Threat is MUCH closer than we think, Keir warns as UK prepares for war on home soil & Nato confirms 5% defence boost

SIR Keir Starmer has chillingly warned that threats to national security are closer to home than we think.

Speaking at the Nato summit in The Hague, the PM said the UK is “regularly” the victim of cyber attacks by Russia and Iran.

He said today: “It is a mistake to think that the only threat we face is external and far off.”

Sir Keir added: “We do face threats at home, all of the time. On a daily basis, there are cyber attacks that have to be dealt with and are being dealt with.

“They are ever more sophisticated, and we need to have the capability to deal with them.

“Equally in relation to energy that has been weaponised quite obviously in the last few years.

“There are very many attempts to penetrate our systems having been dealt with by our security and intelligence services, but the fact that they are very good their job shouldn’t detract from the fact that that is a real threat to our country, which we have to take seriously.”

It comes after all Nato members agreed to raising defence and security spending to five per cent of GDP by 2035 to make it “stronger, fairer and more lethal than ever”.

The UK will also provide “hundreds more defence missiles” to protect Ukraine.

These will be paid for with money from frozen Russian assets.

It comes after a chilling new national security blueprint set out what the UK can expect as Russia, China and Iran ramp up threats.

A strategic defence review, unveiled on Tuesday, announced that the UK will perform annual drills to anticipate what war on UK soil may look like.

Britain will now hold the yearly drills to prepare for a wide range of enemy attacks.

The new national security strategy included plans for the exercises designed to test the country’s “whole-of-society preparedness”.

These will include war and other security threats such as sabotage to power plants and undersea cables.

Ministers have committed to the annual drills which will test the response to the Government, emergency services and devolved administrations.

Possible drills may include a missile strike by a foreign state, a mass terror attack, cyber attacks or the assassination of a public figure.

The first drill will be held this autumn and will be codenamed “Pegasus”.

It will test how the Government and other public bodies would respond to a new global pandemic – five years after Covid-19 wrecked havoc across the country, triggering multiple lockdowns.

A part of these preparedness drills will include mock-ups of Cobra meetings, which are held in an emergency.

Tuesday’s report also promised “greater vigilance to the public” going forward.

This may lead to a return of Cold War-style “protect and survive” information films.

They were used between 1974 and 1980 and advised the public on how to survive a nuclear attack.

Instructions included how to prepare a fallout room, stockpiling supplies like food and water, and recognising warning signals.

The new plan focuses on three key areas – protecting the UK at home, working with allies to strengthen global security, and rebuilding Britain’s defence industries and technological capabilities.

The warning comes after Mark Rutte, the Nato secretary general, declaring that without a major increase in defence spending, the British “better learn to speak Russian”.

The strategy said threats from other countries are on the rise.

It revealed that the UK has been “directly threatened by hostile activities including assassination, intimidation, espionage, sabotage, cyber attacks and other forms of democratic interference”.

The stark message came as the PM jetted into The Hague for a crunch NATO summit, where leaders confirmed plans for all allies to spend five per cent of GDP on defence and security by 2035.

Sir Keir Starmer admitted the country faces “daily challenges on the home front” when asked about the growing threat after the security strategy’s release.

The Government’s strategy lays bare the scale of the danger, warning: “We are in an era in which we face confrontation with those who are threatening our security.

“For the first time in many years, we have to actively prepare for the possibility of the UK homeland coming under direct threat, potentially in a wartime scenario.”

The strategy said the UK’s enemies are spreading disinformation and using social media to “stoke tensions between generations, genders and ethnic groups”.

Critical infrastructure such as undersea cables will “continue to be a target”, the document added.

It comes after RAF Top Guns will get nuclear bombers for the first time in 30 years — after PM Sir Keir Starmer said we must prepare for possible war.

The F-35As will be based at RAF Marham in Norfolk, which housed Britain’s air-launched nuclear weapons until 1998.

That was the year then—PM Tony Blair scrapped Britain’s air-launched bomb, the WE-177.

The new B-61 bombs, made by US-firm Lockheed Martin, can take out small areas — unlike Trident 2 missiles on Britain’s submarines which can obliterate whole cities.

The F-35As can also carry conventional weapons.

Sharon Osbourne visits Ozzy-themed exhibition as Black Sabbath star counts down to final ever gig with all-star line up

SHARON Osbourne stepped out in support of rocker husband Ozzy as she visited a Black Sabbath exhibition ahead of his band’s final-ever gig.

The Celebrity Big Brother alum headed to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for the huge showcase, taking time to pose alongside a huge poster of her other-half.

Ozzy’s band will wrap their career in Birmingham on July 5[/caption]

Sharon, 72, pulled on a black top and cream suit jacket for the event, finishing off with a pair of glasses and silver pendant earrings.

She styled her signature red hair into a straight style sweeping her shoulders and kept make-up minimal for the free event, entitled Ozzy Osbourne Working Class Hero.

The former X Factor judge was seen taking time to look at an array of posters and memorabilia before addressing the crowds on a microphone.

Her appearance comes just days after it was revealed Paranoid hitmaker Ozzy was selling his DNA for £335 as part of a quirky project.

Ozzy told fans to “consume him” after teaming up with drinks brand Liquid Death to release 10 cans of iced tea that he drank from, which have since been resealed and now contain traces of his DNA.

The bizarre move comes after it was revealed Ozzy will take to the stage alongside his legendary band Black Sabbath one last time for the Back to the Beginning concert at Birmingham‘s Villa Park on July 5.

Ozzy previously confirmed he would play his final ever gig as he continues to battle a series of health woes.

Sharon has arranged the gig, which will also see the heavy metal band reunite for the first time in 20 years.

SHARON’S AXE

Yet the TV star has already made her mark on the tour – and claimed she has axed one support group from the line-up.

In an interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon claims she had the unnamed group removed from the jam-packed supporting line-up for the gig which includes bands such as Metallica and Slayer.

Sharon took aim at the unidentified music manager and told the publication: “I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath.

“And it was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years.

“I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me.

“He’s now going around making up bulls*** lies because I threw his band off the bill.

“I don’t care what people say. Because do you know what? I don’t love them.”

Sharon, who has been open about her use of weight loss jab Ozempic, then added: “I care about people who love me, what they say about me.

“You can’t care what an industry says, because you don’t love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn’t.”

Although Sharon did not names, some fans speculated that she could have been referring to rock band, Tool.

Terrifying moment out-of-control 700ft cargo ship CRASHES into Suez Canal port sending workers fleeing for their lives

THIS is the jaw-dropping moment an out-of-control 700ft cargo ship smashes into Suez Canal port, sending workers fleeing for their lives.

Terrifying footage captured the Liberian-flagged RED ZED 1 getting caught in shallow water after a “sudden steering failure”.

The video shows the gargantuan ship headed for Sudan slowly veer into the Egyptian port as onlookers started running for their lives.

Massive waves formed as the ship edged closer and closer, brushing up to the side of the port.

But the vessel couldn’t be stopped as it collided into the dock, with animals even captured racing to safety.

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) confirmed the ship had gone off course – but didn’t cause too much damage.

It said on Saturday: “The incident did not result in any human losses or injuries, and the crisis was fully managed in a record time of 60 minutes.”

The crew were able to avert terrifying disaster by turning the vessel away from the dock, meaning only the side was scraped.

There were no injuries or casualties reported.

Passengers were quickly evacuated, according to local media.

The SCA added how three tugboats were deployed “immediately” to sort the emergency and prevent any future damage or harm.

They were able to position the massive chip mid the waterway and security it after crew did repairs to it.

The vessel is a whopping 700ft high, a beam over 140ft and gross tonnage of 41,000 tonnes.

It was moving through the canal as it made its journey from the Netherlands to Sudan.

Just last month, a Mexican Navy ship crashed into the famous Brooklyn Bridge, sending families running for their lives.

The ship snapped all three of its masts as it collided with the New York City landmark leaving two people dead and 19 wounded.

Footage shows the ship, named the Cuauhtemoc, moving rapidly in reverse towards the bridge, close to the Brooklyn side of the East River.

Suddenly, its three masts struck the bridge and snapped one by one as the ship continued to move.

Onlookers are seen slowly backing away from the walking path by the river, before screaming and running to safety the moment the boat hit the bridge.

The Brooklyn Bridge, which opened in 1883, has a nearly 490-meter main span supported by two masonry towers.

More than 100,000 vehicles and an estimated 32,000 pedestrians cross every day, according to the city’s transportation department.

Eamonn Holmes’ girlfriend explains heartbreaking reason she dropped out of red carpet with star hours before awards

EAMONN Holmes’ girlfriend Katie Alexander has opened up on the heartbreaking reason she swerved her red carpet debut with him at this year’s TRIC Awards.

GB News star Eamonn, 65, was at the glitzy event on Tuesday night but 43-year-old Katie was noticeably absent alongside him.

Katie, who has been in a relationship with Eamonn since last year, has now revealed why she decided to give it a miss.

Taking to Instagram, the marriage counsellor has shared a photograph of herself sat barefoot inside a wooden cabin.

She used stickers saying “be mindful” and “peace and quiet” to illustrate the snap.

Writing alongside it, Katie admitted that she deliberately avoided the high profile event in London because of hurtful trolls.

She said: “Was going to The Tric Awards, but I’d rather protect my Mental Health and Inner Peace than be subjected to more online hate from people who don’t know me.”

This year’s TRIC Awards was held at Grosvenor House in London. It would have been Eamonn and Katie’s first red carpet event together.

Eamonn, who suffers from chronic pain, joined his GB News Breakfast Show co-stars on stage in his wheelchair as they collected the award for Best News Programme.

Katie has since shared a photo of the team to congratulate them, writing: “Winner winner chicken dinner!”

Eamonn and Katie began dating in mid-2024 following his split from his wife of 14 years, Ruth Langsford.

The former couple, who share son Jack, are now in the midst of divorce and a battle over their £3.6million home.

This is the second time this month Katie has spoken about the vile reaction her relationship with Eamonn has prompted from keyboard warriors.

In an Instagram Story at the beginning of June, she warned people that she “doesn’t forget” while describing 2024 as “the year of hell”.

She told her followers she had received “lies about me and death threats from people who have never met me”.

Katie added: “Not only did my mental health suffer but also my children’s did. One thing I don’t do it forget.

“But a huge thank you to my friends and family who know me, and the truth, and have supported me through the past year.”

Brave face

Last week Katie put on a brave face as she attended Royal Ascot with Eamonn.

Eamonn, who needs a wheelchair to get around due to chronic pain, wore a classic grey morning suit and top hat to the prestigious races.

Katie, meanwhile, also looked pretty in a white and black polka dot dress with ruffle detailing.

She completed her look with a black fascinator and matching handbag.

Katie told her: “A Beautiful day with beautiful people at @ascotracecourse yesterday.

Fantastic weather ☀, albeit too hot 🥵 which meant I had to drink more champagne! 🍾 to stay hydrated!
