However, Paul Geaney has returned to the bench after not featuring since sustaining a shoulder injury in the win over Cork four weeks ago.

Paudie Clifford is held in reserve again after being introduced as a second-half sub in last weekend’s win over Cavan.

Breen and Brosnan missed the preliminary quarter-final against the Breffni. O’Connor and Morley, who are replaced by Micheál Burns and Dylan Casey, were both injured during the nine-point win in Killarney.

Ben Crealey, Rory Grugan and Oisín Conaty have been named to start for Armagh. Oisín O’Neill remains sidelined and Stefan Campbell also misses out through injury.

Conor Flaherty retains his place in goal for Galway, who are unchanged for their last-eight meeting with Meath on Sunday.

The side announced by Monaghan boss Gabriel Bannigan for tomorrow’s meeting with Donegal shows two changes from their win against Down.

Stephen Mooney and Killian Lavelle make way for Jack McCarron and Gavin McPhillips. Gary Mohan is a sub after limping off against Clare.

Young Irish mum critical in Tenerife after mosquito bite caused collapse on holiday that turned into ‘worst nightmare’

A YOUNG Irish mum has been left in critical condition after an infection caused by a mosquito bite made her collapse and hit her head.

Emma Hickey, from Kilbarrack in Co Dublin, remains in an induced coma after suffering a serious head injury following the fall onto the tiled pavement in the Canary Islands.

She had been holidaying with her family in Tenerife when the incident took place.

And pals have now told how the young mum-of-two’s trip abroad has turned into a “nightmare”.

They said: “Our beautiful Emma is critically ill in Tenerife. What was meant to be a well-deserved family holiday and break from the day-to-day, has turned into every family’s worse nightmare.

“Mosquito bites lead to a worsening infection, which caused Emma to collapse and hit her head on the tiled pavement.

“The fall resulted in a serious head injury and she remains in an induced coma.

“The medical team have confirmed that her recovery will be long, uncertain, and incredibly challenging.”

A fundraiser has been set up to assist Emma’s family, including her partner Stephen Brougham, as they remain by her side in hospital in Tenerife.

The GoFundMe organiser said: “We, Emma’s family and friends would ask for your help to support Emma’s partner Stephen who is self employed, and their kids Sophie and Bobby, as they stay by Emma’s side in Tenerife to provide some relief in the day to day expenses so they can focus on the long road of recovery in front of them.

“Anything you can contribute will make a difference.

“Even sharing the page and keeping Emma in your thoughts will help the family at this time.”

The ‘Emma Hickey’ GoFundMe page has so far raised €26,648 out of its total €28,000 goal just a few hours after being set up.

Family, friends and wider members of the local community have rallied together to support the beloved woman and her family at this time.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Ayrfield United Football Club urged those who could to donate to the fundraiser as they sent their well wishes to Emma and her family.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Emma Hickey as she endures a very difficult time after a bad fall in Tenerife on Sunday.

“Emma is the partner of Stephen Brougham, our First Team Coach.

“Emma’s friends have set up a Go Fund Me to help with costs for the family during this difficult time.

“If anyone is in a position to help Emma, Steo, Sophie and Bobby, please donate via the link. Any help is greatly appreciated.”

Trinity Donaghmede FC added: “Please share and if anybody can help this local family be incredible.”

Brian May breaks silence on Queen bandmate Freddie Mercury’s ‘secret love child’ after DNA test

BRIAN May has broken his silence on claims his Queen bandmate Freddie Mercury had a ‘secret love child’.

A bombshell new book titled Love, Freddie by biographer Lesley-Ann Jones will be released later this year and tells how Freddie had a daughter in 1976 following a fling with a close friend’s wife.

Brian’s wife Anita says he doesn’t believe the claims

Now 77-year-old Brian’s wife Anita Dobson has revealed his reaction to the shock news – and he doesn’t believe it.

Recalling the moment she heard the claims, Anita, 76, said: “I went ‘what?’ I thought ‘no’.

And I said to Brian, ‘Do you know about this?’ And he said, ‘Do you believe this?’”

Speaking to the Mirror, Anita insisted that Freddie – who died in 1991 – was too famous for the news of a secret child to only be leaking now.

She continued: “There must be lots of people who have children that we don’t know about.

“It’s just because it’s him. Because he’s iconic.

“And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we don’t know about.”

Before the iconic singer died of pneumonia caused by Aids in 1991, Freddie is said to have given his daughter 17 volumes of his personal journals.

She kept them a secret for years, but recently handed them over to the author to form the basis of the book that’ll be released later this year.

The woman, who was born in 1976, says she always knew the legendary singer was her dad – despite being raised by a loving family.

She lives in Europe working as a medical professional with children of her own, making Freddie a post-humous granddad.

Mercedes recalls £2.5m hypercars built just three years ago over fears they could ‘catch fire’

MERCEDES has issued an urgent recall for most of its £2.5m hypercars after they hit the roads just three years ago.

The manufacturer has recalled the vehicles due to fears that they could suddenly “catch fire”.

Mercedes’ CEO once said that the company’s executives must have been “drunk” when they first green-lit the luxury car.

The AMG One has a turbocharged 1.6 litre V-6 engine, which is based on Lewis Hamilton’s iconic F1 car.

However, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority has confirmed that the engine is not related to the recall.

The issue stems from the vehicle’s active rear spoiler’s hydraulic line, which might be missing a pin lock.

This could lead to the car’s hydraulic fluid leaking and igniting on other hot components.

All recalled cars must be examined, so split pins can be installed.

Overall, the fix should take around 90 minutes – though it could prevent serious injury.

Nearly 80 per cent of the AMG Ones produced have been affected, as 219 of the cars have been recalled.

Only 275 of the cars were produced and one motor costs an eyewatering £2.5 million.

The impacted vehicles were produced between December 12, 2022, and May 9, 2025.

There have been two incidents of AMG Ones catching fire, though the German Transport Authority (known as the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) has said neither incident was related to the pin lock defect.

The AMG One first entered development in September 2017 but took years to finish.

Mercedes-AMG finally finished the model in 2022.

Motorists had to wait even longer for the car to hit the roads with AMG Ones only becoming available to buy in 2023.

The news comes after the UK Government threw a £1 billion lifeline to Nissan, after the iconic carmaker teetered on the brink of collapse.

Nissan employs thousands of Brits from across the country, meaning the Government’s decision to underwrite their loan saved a staggering 20,000 jobs.

It is hoped that this will save the brand’s Sunderland factory, though Nissan have not yet announced the fate of the plant.
