PADRAIG Harrington shares the lead at the US Senior Open at Broadmoor Golf Club.

The Dubliner carded a second-straight 67 to move to six-under-par for the tournament.

He joins former Open Championship winner American Stewart Cink and Australia’s Mark Hensby at the top of the leaderboard.

Cink’s 66 was the lowest round of the tournament so far in Colorado Springs.

The 2022 US Senior Open champion made six birdies with three bogeys.

Speaking after the second round, the Stackstown legend was satisfied after his round.

He said: “Most of Thursday and Friday is about jockeying for position, keeping yourself in it, trying not to lose the tournament.

“But after the start I had today, I could have created some daylight between myself and the field. I just have to go and do it all again over the next two days.”

While Darren Clarke surged into a tie for seventh with a solid 68 to reach one-under.

Fellow Ulsterman Chris Devlin is also through to the weekend, finishing two-over – well inside the cut line.,

After his round, Harrington was caught in a furious argument with a TV reporter over golf etiquette.

Harrington, 53, was left fuming as NBC analyst Roger Maltbie after he lost his golf ball.

The Ryder Cup legend appeared to be disgruntled with the former PGA star for not helping him search for it.

A video caught the heated moment in which Harrington hit out at Maltbie’s course etiquette.

He said: “Never on a golf course stand and look at somebody looking for a golf ball.”

Maltbie responded: That’s a hard position to take there.”

They then stepped closer to each other as the argument as tensions continued to boil over.

Harrington added: “You’ve played gold all your life. You understand.”

But Maltbie did not step down as he replied: “I’m not a player.”

They are due to perform at 4pm on the West Holts stage.

It comes after the BBC confirmed it will not be broadcasting the Irish trio’s performance live following Sir Keir Starmer saying they should be banned from appearing altogether.

Festival bosses, meanwhile, have already warned part of the grounds could be locked down during the group’s performance this afternoon due to crowd surge concerns.

Frontman Liam Og O hAnnaidh was charged under the Terrorism Act after allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed terrorist group Hezbollah while saying “up Hamas, up Hezbollah” during a gig in November in Kentish Town, north London.

“Whilst the BBC doesn’t ban artists, our plans ensure that our programming meets our editorial guidelines.

The band themselves addressed a post on X to “a chairde Gael” – which means “Gaelic friends” in which they said they’d been contacted by the “propaganda wing of the regime”.

The post added: “They WILL put our set from Glastonbury today on the I-player later this evening for your viewing pleasure.

“The crowd expected today is far greater than West Holts capacity so you’ll need to be very early to catch us father….VERY EARLY”.

A festival statement released today warns: “Kneecap will draw a large audience for their 4pm West Holts show.

“If you’re not planning to see them, please plan alternative routes around that area.

“If you do plan to attend, listen to stewards, and please have some other entertainment options in mind in case the field reaches capacity and we need to close it as part of our crowd planning measures.”

Earlier this month the rapper – who performs under the stage name Mo Chara – and bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and O Dochartaigh were mobbed by hundreds of fans outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

He was released on unconditional bail – and is due at the same court on August 20 for the next hearing.

The group’s much-anticipated appearance at Glastonbury has been criticised by PM Sir Keir Starmer and Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.

Mr Starmer said this week it is “not appropriate” for the group to perform at the festival, which started on Thursday.

Asked by The Sun on Sunday if he thinks Kneecap should play, the PM said: “No I don’t.

“I think we need to come down really clearly on this. I won’t say too much, because there’s a court case on, but I don’t think that’s appropriate.”

Ms Badenoch also said the BBC “should not be showing” the band’s set in a post on social media.

Her post said: “The BBC should not be showing Kneecap propaganda.

“One Kneecap band member is currently on bail, charged under the Terrorism Act.

“As a publicly funded platform, the BBC should not be rewarding extremism.”

The band are not currently listed for live broadcast.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “Ticket-holders can once again expect to see uniformed officers on site at Glastonbury Festival 24/7 throughout the festival as part of our extensive policing operation ensuring it is safe for everyone attending, as well as those who live nearby.”

In response to the charge, Kneecap said in a post: “14,000 babies are about to die of starvation in Gaza, with food sent by the world sitting on the other side of a wall, and once again the British establishment is focused on us…

Hezbollah – founded in 1982 – is an Iran-backed Shiite militia.

The Lebanese terrorist organisation voiced support for the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7 2023 before launching guided rockets and artillery shells at Israeli-occupied positions the following day.

Israel has retaliated with strikes on Gaza – and the conflict remains ongoing, with thousands of people, including civilian children, killed.

Kneecap has said they “do not, and have never, supported Hamas or Hezbollah”, condemned all attacks on civilians, and alleged footage was “deliberately taken out of all context” as part of a “coordinated smear campaign” over their criticism of “the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people”.

BRENTFORD are demanding Manchester United cough up £65million for Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils saw their second bid of £55m before add-ons of £7.5m knocked back on Friday, but remain confident of striking a deal.

Brentford are now holding out for a total package of £65m, meaning there is only a small gap in valuations at this point.

As SunSport revealed earlier this month, Mbeumo’s preference has always been a move to Old Trafford.

That is despite departed Bees boss Thomas Frank wanting to take the Cameroon international to Tottenham.

United have already spent £62.5m on Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, who joined from Wolves as their first signing of a crucial summer.

Talks are now continuing between United and Brentford over Mbeumo‘s move, a deal which would smash the Bees club record sale.

Ivan Toney‘s £40m move to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia last summer is the biggest sale in the club’s history.

Mbeumo’s departure will be yet another challenge for new Bees boss Keith Andrews.

Mbeumo’s goals will be missed next season as he notched 20 times in the Premier League last term.

His record put him as one of the most prolific players in the division.

Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored him.

The last time a United player reached at least 20 goals in a Premier League campaign was Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman scored 26 times to help Sir Alex Ferguson win the 2012/13 in his final season in charge of the club.

Mbeumo made the switch to England in 2019 when he joined Brentford from French outfit Troyes.

He cost the Bees a then-record transfer fee of £5.8m as he helped the club reach the Premier League in his second season.

In total, he has made 242 appearances for the club and scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in all competitions.

Norgaard, meanwhile, also arrived at Brentford in 2019 as he joined from Fiorentina.

The 31-year-old has been ever-present in the club’s midfield and is one of the most reliable members of the team.

The Dane will face an awkward reunion with Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli once he completes the move.

The Brazilian accused Norgaard of trying to break his leg during the Bees’ visit to North London back in April.
