‘Death to America’ chants ring out at funeral for Iranian commanders killed in war as Trump warns US would bomb again

THE mass funeral for the Iranian commanders wiped out in the war has been plagued by “Death to America” chants and the burning of Israeli flags.

Over a million people have reportedly lined the streets of Tehran just hours after Donald Trump warned he would bomb the evil regime again if they ever cross the US.

Twisted chants of “Death to America” could be heard ringing out across the event today as pro-Ayatollah mourners flocked to the public procession.

The caskets of top military commanders and nuclear scientists all eliminated by Israel during the gruelling 12-day war were all hauled through the capital.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps chief General Hossein Salami – known as one of Iran’s most powerful military leaders – and General Amir Ali Hajizadeh were among the bodies being laid to rest.

Both were directly targeted by Israel for their role in developing Tehran’s ballistic missile program.

The two twisted generals were taken out within hours of the conflict kicking off on June 13.

Some mourners even started to trample on the flags of Israel and the US as the caskets came past with others setting them alight.

It comes amid a surging number of Iranians who are turning against the evil regime following the war.

Many have voiced their issues with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was again nowhere to be seen at the funeral.

The cowering 86-year-old hasn’t been seen in person for almost two weeks now and is said to have been forced into a secret bunker amid threats on his life from both Trump and Israel.

The US president has even claimed he saved the Ayatollah from an “ugly death” by ordering Israeli jets to turn around mid-air during an attack.

Funeral-goers at one point pledged their allegiance to the twisted leader as they chanted: “Oh noble Leader, we are ready!”

Around 60 caskets were wheeled out with many being draped in the national colours of red, white and green.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi – now among the most high-profile names in Tehran’s cabinet – led the procession.

He made a rare admission as he said the number of lives lost in the short-lived conflict is “hard and painful”.

Fairytale European city that is like ‘going back centuries’ to get new easyJet flights from the UK

A EUROPEAN city most people associate with Christmas is getting new UK flights this year.

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est region and sits on the French-German border.

And in November, easyJet will be flying to Strasbourg from Manchester.

Despite the UK getting hot this week, the city is known for its bustling Christmas market.

Strasbourg is known as the “Capital of Christmas” with the market, also known as Christkindelsmärik, is scheduled to run from November 27 to December 27.

Flight tickets have been released already with tickets on sale in November from £48.99 (one-way).

From November 28, the new service will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays.

This is part of easyJet’s expansion of 22 new routes from UK airports for the winter season.

For anyone keen to jet off before then, easyJet already offers flights from the UK to Strasbourg flying from London Heathrow from £38.99 – and it’s one hour and 35 minutes away.

And the city is equally just as beautiful to explore during the summertime with average highs of 26C.

The area of Strasbourg that attracts most of the tourists is Petite France where you’ll find the charming houses, cobbled streets and canals.

One visitor said: “It’s breathtaking, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.

Strasbourg also houses what’s believed to be the world’s oldest wine barrel[/caption]

“It’s like stepping back in time several centuries.”

Another added that it’s a place that makes you “feel like you’re in a fairytale.”

Not that you can taste it, but Strasbourg is home to what’s believed to be the world’s oldest barrel of wine.

It’s housed in the Historic Wine Cellar of Strasbourg Hospital, a 14th-century cellar beneath the modern city hospital.

The wine has been tasted only three times in its history, in the years 1576, 1718, and 1944.

It’s not drinkable any longer though as it dates back to 1472.

While that barrel remains untouched, the cellar still produces wine, around 140,000 bottles each year.

Not to mention there’s lots of wine bars and pubs throughout the city, it’s known for its white wines, particularly Riesling and Gewürztraminer.

Popular spots for wine include L’Alsace à Boire which sells local wines along with charcuterie boards.

Or Le Purgatoire which has been praised for its extensive wine list.

Here are 11 more easyJet routes from UK airports including Greek islands and African beach resorts.

Plus, easyJet has launched new flight route to ‘underrated’ Italian seaside city with stunning golden beaches and historic sites.

One Travel Writer visited Strasbourg

The Sun’s Health Feature Editor Alice Fuller recently visited the city – here are her thoughts.

“The vibrant French city is a powerful political centre (home to the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and the European Court of Human Rights) yet it still has a quaint countryside village feel.

“With half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets and a 1,000-year-old cathedral stood alongside lively bars, modern museums and shimmering glass consulates, it’s a seamless mix of mediaeval and futuristic.

Strolling the narrow streets, I marvel at colourful toytown cottages that look like they’re straight out of a Grimm’s fairytale next to sprawling French chateaux.”

Words you must never type on social media over devastating ‘sim swap’ phone attack that can breach ALL accounts

THERE are some details you just cannot share on social media – or you could be putting yourself at risk of a devastating “SIM swap” attack, experts have warned.

In the wake of the M&S cyberattack in April, where SIM swapping is believed to have played a role, consumers have been warned that the breed of attack could also wreak havoc on their own personal lives.

Be careful what you post on social media[/caption]

SIM swapping is a form of fraud that is swiftly on the rise, according to a report published in The Conversation last month, co-authored by computer science professor Alan Woodward and secure systems lecturer Daniel Gardham, both of the University of Surrey.

Attacks rose by a whopping 1,055 per cent in 2024, according to the National Fraud Database.

It has also allegedly been used in the hacking of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in 2019.

“Our mobile phone numbers have become a de facto form of identification, but they can be hijacked for nefarious purposes,” the pair wrote.

People typically have the same phone number for years – even after changing phones, losing their device, or having it stolen.

“When a user buys a new phone, or just a new sim card for a spare device they might have, they might call their service provider to transfer their longstanding mobile number to the new sim card,” experts explained.

“The problem is that the service provider doesn’t know if it is really them calling to transfer the number.

“Hence, they launch into a series of questions to make sure they are who they say they are.”

These security questions are used for all kinds of accounts, and often ask for the same information.

For example, “what is your mother’s maiden name?”, or “…the name of your first pet?”

But if someone else can know the answers to those questions after stalking your social media, it leaves you at risk of not only SIM swap fraud but other forms of hacking.

Suddenly, someone else can make and receive calls and SMS messages using your number.

Prof Alan Woodward and lecturer Daniel Gardham, of the University of Surrey

“The rise of social media has made it easier than ever for scammers to piece together what was once considered private information,” experts wrote.

“Suddenly, someone else can make and receive calls and SMS messages using your number.”

That means hackers can make calls at your expense. But it’s not just your phone number that can be stolen.

SIM swapping can be used to breach all your other accounts through the theft of two-factor authentication (2FA) codes.

Security experts recommend all consumers have the 2FA tool switched on with all their accounts.

Apple
Passkeys are used to log into your online account only when you unlock your phone through your PIN code, fingerprint or face ID[/caption]

Instead of just relying on a password, 2FA adds a second factor – like a code from your phone or biometric data like your fingerprint or face ID.

Woodward and Gardham added: “Remember when you created your email, bank account or even online grocery shopping account and you were encouraged to set up two-factor authentication (2FA)?

“You listened, but the system set your ‘second factor’ as your mobile phone number.

“You input your username and password, and it asks for a time-limited code that it sends to you as an SMS message.”

Now, if you have been a victim of SIM swapping – the hackers will receive your security codes instead of you.

This could potentially grant them access to all sorts of accounts, from your social media to your banking app.

Efforts to improve login security have led to the rise of what are known as passkeys… Which are long sequence of random digits called cryptographic keys that are stored on your device, such as a smartphone or computer.

Prof Alan Woodward and lecturer Daniel Gardham, of the University of Surrey

It’s important to note that even with the risks of SIM swapping, 2FA should still be enabled on all your accounts.

In addition to it, however, experts are encouraging the use of passkeys – a passwordless login method that is supposed to be more secure.

Facebook just recently adopted passkeys as a safer alternative to passwords, but companies like Google and Apple have had them for a while.

“Efforts to improve login security have led to the rise of what are known as passkeys,” Woodward and Gardham explained. “Which are long sequence of random digits called cryptographic keys that are stored on your device, such as a smartphone or computer.”

Passkeys are used to log into your online account only when you unlock your phone through your PIN code, fingerprint or face ID.

WHAT ARE PASSKEYS?

Passkeys are the newer, safer passwords, according to tech companies and security experts.

They allow you to log into your accounts using biometrics like your fingerprint or face scan.

You can even use your phone’s passcode.

To sign into a website or app on your phone, all you need to do is unlock your phone.

This also works for websites on PCs and laptops.

If you’re trying to sign into a website on your computer, you just need your phone nearby.

You will be prompted to unlock your phone when trying to log into an account on your computer, which will then grant you access on the PC.

By using unique credentials tied to your phone or other devices, you make your accounts more resistant to phishing and other password-based attacks.

The 8 reasons you have awful hangovers even after just TWO drinks – and the must-do hacks to avoid it

APEROL spritz at the Saturday BBQ, rosé after work and G&Ts in the garden – summer is here, but with booze comes the dreaded ‘next day’.

What’s worse, is that sometimes, it can only take a couple of drinks to feel the effects of a hangover.

Waking up feeling rough after just a couple? You’re certainly not alone![/caption]

Laura Jennings, nutritionist and founder of the NutriMethod tells Sun Health that typically, a hangover sets in as the blood alcohol level starts to drop, often peaking when there’s no alcohol left in the system.

Hangovers can last for up to 24 hours,” she adds.

But, there are some reasons why you might end up suffering the next day, even if you kept your alcohol intake to a minimum…

1. You’re dehydrated

DRINKING water is the number one rule of avoiding a hangover.

So, if you’re not doing it, there’s your first clue as to why you feel it even after a couple.

While drinking water won’t stop you getting a hangover, it could help reduce the severity of your symptoms, Laura says.

She adds: “Alcohol acts as a diuretic, meaning it encourages your body to lose more water through urine.

“It does this by blocking the antidiuretic hormone vasopressin, which normally helps your body regulate water excretion.

“As a result, you can become dehydrated and that alone can cause symptoms like fatigue, headache and dry mouth.”

Make sure you’re hydrated throughout the day, not just when you’re drinking alcohol. Aim for 1.5 to two litres of water each day.

When drinking, use the ‘zebra striping’ method – one alcoholic beverage, one water. And make sure to hydrate on route home.

2. Your drinks are dark

NOT all alcohol affects you the same way when it comes to hangovers.

Make sure to drink water throughout the evening AND once you get home[/caption]

“Clear spirits such as vodka and gin tend to cause fewer symptoms because they contain lower levels of congeners, which are compounds produced during fermentation and distillation,” says Laura.

Darker drinks like whiskey and brandy are higher in these by-products, which can make hangovers feel worse.

In people who are susceptible, a spike in histamine and serotonin can lead to symptoms such as flushing, headaches or nasal congestion

Laura Jennings nutritionist and founder of the NutriMethod

“Some of these congeners, like methanol, can be broken down into toxic substances such as formaldehyde and formic acid in the body,” says Laura.

“Thankfully, our body has enzymes that help clear these toxins out, but if you’ve had a lot to drink, or you’re dehydrated, the system can get overwhelmed, which may contribute to the severity of a hangover.”

3. You drink red over white

IF you’re a red wine over white kind of a drinker then your hangover might be worse.

Red wine has more of those pesky congeners than white, Laura says, adding: “Red wine also contains more histamine and serotonin-releasing compounds than white wine or spirits like vodka.

Two glasses of wine; one white, one red.

Go for white wine over red- which has more chemicals that induce a hangover[/caption]

“In people who are susceptible, this spike in histamine and serotonin can lead to symptoms such as flushing, headaches or nasal congestion, often mistaken for classic hangover effects.”

She adds that red wine also contains more quercetin, a polyphenol (antioxidant) found in significantly higher amounts in red wine.

Research in the journal Scientific Reports suggests that quercetin might interfere with alcohol metabolism, especially in people with a variant of the enzyme ALDH2 (aldehyde dehydrogenase 2).

“This enzyme helps break down acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct of alcohol,” Laura says.

“If this process is slowed or impaired, acetaldehyde can build up, leading to more severe hangover symptoms like headache, nausea and fatigue.”

4. Your diet is filled with UPFs

ULTRA-PROCESSED FOODS, such as cereals, processed meats, cakes, chocolate, crisps, ice-cream and fizzy drinks, could make your hangover worse.

Laura says: “These foods provide little in the way of protective micronutrients and can amplify inflammation and blood sugar swings, both of which can intensify hangover symptoms.”

Drinking alcohol can mess with your blood sugar because it makes it harder for your body to produce glucose.

Women have less body water and lower levels of alcohol dehydrogenase, an enzyme that metabolises alcohol

Dr Mohammed Najjar Medical Director of Jorja Healthcare Group

“This can lead to dips in blood glucose, which might explain why people feel shaky, tired or irritable after drinking,” says Laura.

Drinking on an empty stomach could also make your hangover worse.

But, on the flip side, Laura adds: “Eating nutrient-dense, whole foods rich in B vitamins and minerals like zinc before drinking may help take the edge off a hangover.”

Research in the journal of Clinical Medicine found that vitamin B3 and zinc play a pivotal role in reducing the severity of hangovers, especially when it comes to symptoms like nausea and vomiting.

“These nutrients are involved in alcohol metabolism and help the body break down acetaldehyde, the toxic by-product of alcohol that contributes to hangover symptoms,” explains Laura.

“Foods rich in zinc include legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains and shellfish, while B3 can be found in poultry, brown rice, mushrooms and fortified cereals. Including these foods in your meals before drinking could help support your body’s detox pathways.”

If your diet is heavy in ultraprocessed foods, you’re more likely to feel the effects of alcohol[/caption]

However, some cereals are fortified with B vitamins, which can help with fatigue and low energy[/caption]

5. You’re relying on hangover supplements

THERE’S a lot of hangover supplements on the market which make promising claims.

Have you given them a go, only to find you are still hungover, even after just two drinks?

That’s because most of these supplements aren’t backed by strong scientific evidence, says Laura.

“While a few small studies have looked at individual ingredients that may help with specific symptoms like nausea or headaches, there’s currently no solid, peer-reviewed research in humans to confirm that these products are safe or consistently effective at preventing or treating hangovers,” she says.

So while you might benefit from some minor symptom relief, there’s no proven supplement that can reliably prevent or cure a hangover.

Hangover supplement are all the rage. But there isn’t a huge amount of research to say they work, so don’t rely on them[/caption]

6. It’s your medications

IF you’re taking medications, these could have an impact on how your body metabolises alcohol, which could make your hangover worse.

“These include some pain relievers such as acetaminophen, NSAIDs (medicines that relieve pain, reduce inflammation and bring down a high temperature, such as ibuprofen and aspirin) and some antidepressants,” says Dr Mohammed Najjar, Medical Director of Jorja Healthcare Group.

Some medications require you to avoid alcohol at all costs. Dr Najjar recommends speaking to your GP if you’re concerned.

7. You’re a woman

GENETICS do play a role in how you metabolise alcohol.

Dr Najjar says: “Although men and women tend to metabolise alcohol at approximately the same rate, women appear to have a higher rate of alcohol elimination.”

This can mean women feel the effects of alcohol more strongly.

“This could be due to a number of factors such as the smaller lean body mass in women which leads to higher alcohol concentration per unit of lean body mass, and also due to the fact that women have less body water and lower levels of alcohol dehydrogenase, an enzyme that metabolises alcohol,” adds Dr Najjar.

The menstrual cycle can impact how severe a hangover is.

Dr Najjar says that some women notice their hangovers are worse during the luteal phase (the week before your period).

“Levels of the hormone progesterone levels increase significantly during this phase, and oestrogen levels also remain elevated,” says Dr Najjar.

“It’s possible that these hormone changes can cause more acetaldehyde to remain in the body after drinking alcohol which can result in hangover symptoms.”

Surprising hangover cures

If you’ve woken up with a groggy head and an aching body from a day or night on the booze, you need to nourish your body to help it regain strength.

Unhealthy, high calorie foods could derail you weight loss efforts as well as make the hangover worse.

Shona Wilkinson, Nutritionist at Dr.Vegan says: “Excessive alcohol consumption damages your liver. To detox your liver and alleviate nasty hangover symptoms such as nausea, headaches, and dehydration, try some of the below ingredients.”

Onions and garlic

Both of these foods contain a nutrient called sulphur, according to Shona, which is essential in liver detoxification.

“Toxins in the body essentially join to the sulphur and are then excreted from the body.”

Lemon peel

Adding some lemon peel to a glass of water or shaving some onto your food could help alleviate some of your hangover symptoms.

Shona says: “Lemon peel contains a substance called limonene, which helps your body to detoxify itself by removing carcinogens from the body.

“There is research that suggests lemon peel may even offer an effective solution to migraines and headaches, given that it’s a great source of Vitamin C.”

Grapefruit

It’s the substance naringin in grapefruits, which helps to protect the liver from all kinds of damage.

Shona says: “There are a lot of medicines out there that don’t mix too well with grapefruit however, so consult your GP before adding too much grapefruit into your diet if you’re on any prescribed medications.”

Pickle juice

An odd one, but pickle juice is packed with electrolytes like sodium and potassium, which Shona says are essential in a whole host of the body’s vital processes.

She says: “Electrolytes help to keep us hydrated by regulating the amount of water in our cells to ensure they’re able to function properly.

“If you’re hungover, it’s the perfect remedy.”

The Russian fighter had taken his professional record to 16-5-0 but his jubilation was cut short.

Parshikov, 29, climbed up on the ropes and looked like he was going to jump into the pool that oddly surrounded the ring.

However, as he reached for a ringside light, he got an electric shock.

His body entirely stiffened before he crashed back down to the canvas.

Fortunately, he was able to spring back up quickly and continue his celebratory dive into the water.

This is despite some social media posts claiming he had been electrocuted, which refers to death or serious injury.

He was then able to get medical attention to give him the all clear.

Parshikov has seen the funny side of the incident as he posted the video of it on Instagram.

Fans were shocked by the clip as they flooded the comment section.

One posted: “Omg you lucky your alive bro.”

A second wrote: “Is there a new battle nickname now ‘Charged’?”

A third commented: “He won in the ring, but came out of the ring as a loser.”

A fourth said: “He’s a power bank, charged for the whole evening.”

Another added: “That fight was shocking.”

He has also shared a new video of himself receiving electrotherapy from a TENS machine.

UK may ban airlines from charging for hand luggage – but it could hike your flight price, experts warn

AIRLINES could be banned from charging British passengers bringing hand luggage on flights, it is claimed.

Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander is understood to be considering proposals to change the rules after the EU Parliament transport and tourism committee put forward a new law to allow two carry-on items free as standard.

If the new law is approved, passengers flying on any EU airline will be allowed a free cabin bag to put in the overhead locker – as long as it weighs no more than 7kg and measures up to 100cm.

Ryanair and Wizz Air introduced fees for large cabin bags in 2018, and easyJet followed suit in 2021.

However, the likes of British Airways and Jet2.com already include two pieces of cabin baggage as standard in their base fairs.

But there are fears some airlines will put up ticket prices to claw back revenue losses – with some claiming the proposals are unworkable due to lack of space and warn flights maybe delayed.

A transport source spoke to the i newspaper after the EU committee voted to introduce the standardised allowance.

Due to varying rules across airlines, the European Parliament hopes to create a common standard across the board for carry-on luggage.

The proposals are still under discussion by member states and a time frame for implementation are unclear, though a meeting is scheduled for July.

The UK source told the i the Government was also looking at changing the law in the coming months, although policy development is at an early stage.

A Department for Transport spokeswoman said: “We do not comment on speculation but continue to closely monitor the EU’s proposals on air passenger rights reforms.

“We want to make sure passengers can travel with ease, which is why we landed a deal with the EU to allow millions more British nationals to use e-gates at airports in time for the summer holidays.”

Airlines have warned they may need to increase ticket prices which would impact all passengers, including those travelling with smaller bags.

Airlines for Europe Managing Director Ourania Georgoutsakou told Politico: “The European Parliament should let travellers decide what services they want, what services they pay for and, importantly, what services they don’t.”

Airlines for Europe also warned that its members won’t be able to comply with the new rule due to lack of space.

A typical cabin seats 180 passengers but has room for only 90 trolley bags in the overhead lockers.

Airlines for Europe also warned that its members won’t be able to comply with the new rule due to lack of space.

A typical cabin seats 180 passengers but has room for only 90 trolley bags in the overhead lockers.

Last year, there were reports that there were going to be changes to the hand luggage rules – but these did not change.

Speaking to The Independent at the time, Michael O’Leary, chief executive of Europe’s biggest budget carrier, Ryanair said: “We do think there should be a standardised agreement on what can be brought on board.

“We’re working with the other airlines in A4E to try to agree standardised sizes, but we haven’t reached an agreement with them yet.”

While the rules continue to be discussed, check out this popular travel bag that’s allowed on Ryanair flights for free.

Plus the travel bags, plane outfits and accessories we can’t live without – and they start from just 99p.

Expert opinion on what the new rules mean for you

Head of Travel Lisa Minot weighs in.

EUROPEAN plans to force all airlines to allow passengers to bring a bag weighing less than 7kg into the cabin as well as an under-seat bag seem on the face of it to be a good outcome for travellers.

But there could be a sting in the tail for flyers going forward.

Low cost airlines have for years been keeping the price of base fares low by adding on an ever more dizzying array of extra charges.

And these ancillary charges now make up an increasing percentage of their profits.

These extra charges now make up more than 30per cent of Ryanair’s revenue. Between October and December last year, Ryanair’s ancillary revenues were worth £884million.

Airlines argue that if they are forced to comply with the new laws, the base fares will have to rise for every passenger across the board, including those flying smaller bags.

They also point out many airlines won’t be able to comply with the new rules as typically planes that carry 180 passengers only have room for 90 trolley bags.

But on the plus side, forcing all airlines to adhere to the same rules can only be a good thing.

Right now, the disparity between the size and weight of bags and the prices airlines charge is hideously complicated and can often lead to passengers being caught out.

The Sun has gone to reps for Katy and Orlando for comment.

LETTING SLIP

It has previously been claimed that Katy – who is on tour in Australia – had told her mates their engagement was over at the start of the year, before removing her engagement ring.

A source close to the couple said at the time: “Katy confided in friends at the start of the year that their relationship was as good as done.

“They decided to hold off on announcing anything in case things improved between them, because they are desperate to stay together for the sake of their daughter.

“But they have spent barely any time together this year, with Katy on tour and Orlando working on his upcoming film Bucking Fastard in Dublin.

“She knew that taking off her engagement ring would send a clear message.

“It’s been a hard year so far. They wanted to wait until the tour is over before they made their split official, although Katy has grown tired of the situation.”

The couple started dating in 2016 and got engaged three years later. However, The Sun understands they had difficult conversations about their future over Christmas and in January but struggled to make a firm decision.

Reps for the couple refused to comment when approached about their separation in February and again this week.

ALL CHANGE

Last week, The Sun reported how Orlando and Katy held crisis talks to try to save their relationship after leading increasingly separate lives.

American news website TMZ then said Brit-born Orlando would be “the life of the party” and that he would be hitting “the dancefloor hard” when he arrives in Italy for the nuptials.

An insider said: “No one has decided it’s definitely the end of the road for Katy and Orlando.

“They both love each other, but they have been living different lives for at least a year and in different mindsets.”

It’s understood Orlando and Katy are planning on reuniting on July 4 when there is a break in her touring schedule.

The insider added: “They have barely been together for a decent amount of time, without distractions, for many, many months.”

Tensions within their relationship also reached boiling point after Katy’s flight to space on board Jeff’s Blue Origin.

Katy, along with Lauren and Gayle King, were hit with a public backlash and those close to Orlando said he had warned Katy about taking part.

They said: “From day one, Orlando didn’t think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face a backlash.”
