Love Island star breaks his silence after brutal dumping amid calls for him to be axed

LOVE Island star Remell Mullins has broken his silence following his brutal villa exit in a double dumping.

On Friday night, Remell and Megan Forte Clarke were given their marching orders from the villa shortly after they were branded “cheaters” for their behaviour with bombshells during a sleepover twist.

They were then declared the public’s least favourite boy and girl in a savage public vote.

Now they’re back in reality and social media, Remell has thanked fans for their support during this brief stint in the villa.

Taking to Instagram, Remell wrote: “And just like that… I’m officially out of the love island villa. What a mad, unforgettable ride.

“First off, thank you to every single one of you who’s supported me—whether you were backing me to find love, keeping up with the show, or just curious from what you’ve seen online—I’m genuinely grateful.”

“My journey might’ve been shorter than expected, but I walked in as me and walked out as me. No regrets,” he continued.

“I got to meet some incredible people, make real bonds and live out something most only dream about.

“Seeing my name in headlines has been surreal to say the least—but trust, this is just the beginning.”

“I’m walking out with my head high and my heart full. Can’t wait to show you lot what’s next 🤞” he concluded, before signing off: “Big love always”.

Before his hasty exit, Remell ruffled the feathers of both his fellow islanders and viewers at home with his efforts to find romance.

Being sent to a ‘sleepover’ with new female islanders, Remell was seen striking up a romance with new girl Poppy, with the pair snogging at every opportunity.

However, when it came to returning to the villa, Remell opted to remain with Alina, who he was officially coupled up with in the main villa.

However, the truth came out when Helena – who was also invited to the sleepover with the new islanders – told Alina what Remell had been up to.

This led to Alina furiously confronting him about what he had done and ending things between them for good.

Darts legend Phil Taylor admits new job ‘like an apprenticeship’ and he feels ‘like a fish out of water’

PHIL TAYLOR has admitted he feels like a “fish out of water” in his new job as a presenter.

The record-holding 16-time world champion announced his official retirement from darts in May, after playing on the senior circuit since 2018.

The Power is considered the greatest player to play on the oche, winning 87 major PDC titles and 16 World Matchplay trophies.

At the age of 57, he stepped away from the PDC seven years ago, but continued to grace exhibitions.

Four years later, he took part in his first competitive event since retirement, the inaugural World Seniors Darts Championship.

Since leaving it all behind him, Taylor has swapped his arrows for a microphone, although admits he isn’t as confident in his new gig.

The 64-year-old will take another stab at being a presenter when he joins the team at the World Seniors Darts Champion of Champions on Sunday.

He said in the build-up to the tournament, live and free on Pluto TV,: “I’m like a fish out of water at the minute, so I’m still learning. I’ve got to take my hat off to these commentators.

“If it was a football match, I wouldn’t have a clue who’s passing the ball or playing for which team! I wouldn’t even know who’s on whose side. It’s remarkable what they do.

“Every time I present, I’m learning. I will get used to it, but it’s like an apprenticeship, I think.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

“So you’ve got to do your apprenticeship and learn your job. I’ll keep pushing forward and learn. But I am enjoying it.

“There’s no pressure, obviously. I haven’t got to get up and start practising to make sure I’m getting ready for nighttime, so I can just relax and enjoy it.”

Taylor appeared briefly on the World Seniors Tour but made the decision to call time on all competitive darts just last month, revealing that he didn’t want to disappoint fans.

He added: “I was really, really looking forward to it. Loved the idea of the Seniors Darts. Enjoyed playing in it.

“But I couldn’t perform like Phil Taylor could perform. So it broke my heart a little bit.

“My body had changed. I’m 65 this year. It got harder and harder for me, and I couldn’t perform. And people were paying money to come and see me.

“It broke my heart not to perform like I can. And I thought, ‘I can’t do this anymore. This is not right. If I do something, I have to do it properly.’ I’m a bit of a perfectionist.

“I haven’t even got a set of darts now. Or a dartboard. I’ve got a dartboard in the back room. But it’s still in the box. I was so dedicated and everything. But I can’t do it now.

“So, I do other things. I see my grandkids a lot more. And the best thing in the world is staying and sleeping in your own bed. Which I’d not done for 30 years and I love it.”

Our village is so smelly that we’re being told to shove duvets down our toilets – and it’s only going to get WORSE

Local Parish Councillors have bashed the proposed housing development as the village’s infrastructure is already struggling.

The village of Feniton, Devon, has been plagued by the smell of sewage, with locals encouraged to stuff duvets down their toilets to prevent sewage from overflowing.

Meanwhile, a proposal from South West Strategic Developments Ltd. (SWSD) aims to build 60 new homes in the area.

It has led to intense backlash from Parish Councillors who are more concerned with the village’s ongoing problems than its expansion, as they worry the development could make things worse.

Chairman Martyn Smith told DevonLive: “We’ve got sewage coming up in people’s toilets, it’s bubbling out onto the roads – and there were even condoms hanging over the edge of a pipe discharging into a flood alleviation ditch.

The sewage problems stem from a Victorian system that wasn’t upgraded in line with housing expansion in the area the council alleges.

Councillors added that the Feniton sewage treatment works is one of the worst polluters on the River Otter.

South West Water have admitted to 14 reports of sewage backing up, Martyn says, but councillors believe it to be more than that.

Several councillors are directly impacted by the village’s sewage problems which gets worse during heavy rain.

Councillor Chris Wilkins said one woman has reportedly had to ask neighbours not to flush their toilets to prevent sewage from flooding her garden.

The area was previously declared an “unsustainable location” by a planning inspector after a 2014 public inquiry.

Several large-scale housing projects were refused on these grounds.

There was one exception to this – 34 new houses that Martyn says “ended in disaster” when the builder went bust as it left the homes half-finished.

Councillor Pam Rink said: “It smells all the time, even when it hasn’t rained. With any more building, it just isn’t going to cope.”

Even a flood alleviation scheme intended to deal with surface water hasn’t fixed the problem – as that is reportedly receiving sewage too.

Martyn said that South West Water has alleged that someone is illegally connected into the surface drain, but he adds “that’s just deflection.”

Despite organising meetings with the sewage company, the villagers have been unable to reach a resolution.

In addition to the heightened burden on sewage, locals also worry about the impact on traffic that the development could bring.

The narrow lane into the town already causes issues for the existing residents, and councillors worry an expansion would only make it worse.

In a statement to DevonLive, South West Water said: “We recognise the concerns raised by Feniton residents and parish councillors and have met with them to discuss these issues in detail.

“We have investigated reports of sewage problems in the village and carried out maintenance to address blockages.

“We continue to work closely with local authorities and developers to ensure the sewerage system can support future housing, with infrastructure improvements planned as required. We remain committed to protecting the environment and supporting the Feniton community.”

A statement from SWSD reads: “The application has made in line with the draft allocation of the emerging East Devon Local Plan.

“South West Water is a consultee in this process and have raised no objections to the proposals. They outline that improvements are already being progressed to address the community concerns around the existing systems and increase its capacity.”

The Sun has reached out to Feniton Parish Council for comment.

10 motorways closed the MOST in England in 2025 so far including infamous junction used by over 50,000 drivers daily

ENGLAND’S most closure-prone roads have been revealed – with the notorious M6 stretch between junctions 6 and 7 near Birmingham taking the top spot in 2025 so far.

Freedom of Information data obtained by Co-op Insurance shows that the busy route has experienced the highest number of shut-downs so far this year.

Co-op Insurance urges drivers to plan ahead to safely navigate road closures and diversions[/caption]

The section, located in the West Midlands and known as the Spaghetti Junction, has been closed 29 times since January.

Connecting the M6 with the A38(M) Aston Expressway and other local roads like the A38 and A5127, the junction is famous for its complex, multi-level design.

It also features numerous slip roads, a roundabout – Salford Circus – and elevated roadways.

The nickname “Spaghetti” was reportedly coined by a Birmingham Evening Mail journalist in the 1970s, due to the junction’s complex network of intertwining roads.

This causes significant issues for thousands of drivers, with data showing some 50,000 cars use the M6 toll each day, although the M6 itself is known to carry more traffic, with a section near Wolverhampton said to take some 180,000.

Coming in just behind it in the ranking is junctions 37 to 38 on the A1M near Doncaster, while the M1 between junctions 23a and 24 near East Midlands Airport is in third place.

Road closures are serious bad news for drivers as they lead to an increase in journey times – which, in turn, means much more stress and frustration.

This, of course, can impair driving performance and safety, raising the risk of accidents and incidents occurring.

Paul Evans, Head of Motor at Co-op Insurance, said: “From commuting to leisure trips and visiting loved ones, our motorway network is a vital part of so many people’s daily journeys.

“However, our findings suggest that getting from A to B via the motorway can sometimes be less than straightforward, with road closures seemingly on the rise and particularly common on certain stretches of motorway.

“We’re therefore urging drivers to plan their journeys carefully before they set off so that they can be prepared for any road closures, avoid rushed or panicked decisions and safely navigate diversions.”

The motoring experts also found which motorways closed the most throughout 2024 – having found that motorway road closures rose by 18% last year.

The number recorded by National Highways in England increased to more than 6,870, with incidents of total closures of both carriageways rising by 14% to just over 280.

When it came to the roads worst affected by closures, they found that junction 63 of the A1M at Chester-Le-Street was closed the most – with a sizeable tally of 127.

This was followed by the M53 at junction eight northbound in Ellesmere Port and the M6 between junction 21 and 21a in Warrington.

Indeed, four out of the top 10 junction locations with the highest number of road closures in 2024 were in Yorkshire – with three on the M621 in Leeds.

Elsewhere, three of the top 10 were in Cheshire, with two on the M53.

I’m the Queen of Clean & swear by 69p Superdrug buy to get rid of greasy suncream stains – it’s probably in your handbag

FROM barbeques to days at the beach, summertime can be a lot of fun but one essential may be damaging your favourite clothes.

While essential for your health and well-being, suncream can be fatal to your wardrobe.

Lynsey Crombie shared the DIY hack she uses to remove stubborn stains from her clothes all summer long[/caption]

The summer staple can be a real nuisance to remove from clothes if it comes into contact with them.

And you’ll want to act quick as the longer you leave it, the worse it’ll become.

So if you’re out and about when the stain happens, a cleaning expert has shared a handy hack.

You probably already have the holy grail item somewhere in your handbag.

To begin, This Morning’s Lynsey Crombie recommended gently blotting the stain to absorb as much of the cream as possible.

This will help to prevent the product from spreading further across the material.

Hand sanitiser

And the best way to stop this from happening is to cover the stain with hand sanitiser.

With a high alcohol content, this product acts as an on-the-go solvent when you can’t throw the stained item into the wash.

Hand sanitiser can help loosen and lift sunscreen stains, especially those containing oils and certain chemicals, as it breaks down these substances.

The alcohol helps to emulsify the oils in the suncream, making them easier to wash away.

And you can pick up a bottle of hand sanitiser for just 69p from Superdrug.

Other DIY hacks

And if you find yourself trying to save your clothes from suncream stains while you’re away at the beach, your saving grace is literally all around you.

“Cover the stain with sand to dry it out,” the cleaning expert advised.

“As soon as you can, rinse the stain from the reverse under a cold water tap, to help push it out of the fabric.”

And if a spillage mishap happens at a barbecue, begin by scraping any excess product with a blunt knife.

Laundry tips

Catherine Green, sustainable cleaning expert at smol shared her laundry tips.

How often should you be remaking your bed?

When it comes to your bed, maintaining a hygienic sleep setup can actually improve your sleep quality, helping you start every day better.

Most people shed 500 million skin cells per day and a lot of that ends up in bed for dust mites to feed on. And those with asthma or allergies might see symptoms worsen by sleeping on dirty sheets!

You want to be washing your sheets once a week – or every 10 days if you don’t suffer from allergies and wear nightclothes. Bedding builds up with sweat, skin cells and oils quickly, even if it doesn’t look dirty.

Using an effective detergent like smol’s will still give you a great clean on a 20°C cycle – that’s better for the planet and your energy bills!

What temperature do smol recommend then?

For your regular weekly washes I recommend washing most loads at 20°C for 30 minutes. It’s gentler on fabrics, slashes energy use, and still delivers excellent stain removal with the right detergent. A colder wash can actually be more effective if you opt for a bio detergent as its enzymes need cooler water; too hot and they lose their ability to digest stains. A wash at 60°c (unless you have silk sheets) every now and again can help kill off dust mites and other nasties.

What’s the difference between bio and non-bio detergent?

Bio detergents contain enzymes, which are especially good at breaking down tough stains like food, grass, or sweat. It’s best used in mid to low temperature washes (ideally between 20-40°C) as anything hotter can cause them not to work effectively.

Non-bio skips the enzymes, which in turn makes it more suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies. Although non-bio doesn’t contain enzymes, it’s still great at removing stains and keeping your clothes clean, you just may need to use a slightly higher temperature setting to aid with the cleaning process.

This helps to prevent it from seeping further into the fabric.

“You should then flip the item inside out and rinse under cold running water to push the sauce out from the back, as this helps lift the stain rather than spread it,” Lynsey said.

“Cold water also prevents the stain from setting.”

Summer cleaning hacks

Plus, hacks for removing stubborn sweat stains from your clothes this summer.

A three-ingredient paste will leave any yellowed item looking whiter and brighter than ever.

But you may want to rethink drying your clothes on your line this summer.

However, if you do hang out your clothes a simple hack can speed up the process.

The character was killed off by bosses in 2017 when a new executive producer came in[/caption]

Alongside Rita Simons – who played her close sister Roxy Mitchell – she made her debut in EastEnders in July 2007.

However, Sean O’Connor took over as the executive producer role from Dominic Treadwell-Collins.

He decided to kill off the popular Mitchell sibling duo in a dramatic fashion after Ronnie’s second wedding to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Now Samantha has admitted that she felt ‘rejected’ by the new boss, as she admitted that it was not her decision to leave.

She told The Mail: “It was really hard for us because it wasn’t in our hands. We didn’t make the decision to go.

“I don’t really understand what happened, one producer was leaving and another was coming in, I don’t know what went on.”

Before her time on the soap, Samantha, 52, represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.

However, she admitted that leaving Walford took a toll on her, as she felt like she was losing ‘a family.’

The actress told the publication: “At the time it felt like bereavement, it felt like losing a family member. It was like losing family and losing stability.

“But the thing that was the most painful – and it really was painful – was that me and Rita loved feeling like we belonged there.

“Then to be rejected, and I know that’s emotional but that’s what it was, it hit us both so hard.”

However, the star admitted that she is now thankful to events in hindsight as it allowed her to do other things.

She added: “I do look back now and think, ‘God, I could still be there’, I would never have moved to Valencia.

“I would never have done half the things I’ve done. I was like getting a barnacle off a rock, I probably needed to be forced off at that time.”

EastEnders facts and figures

THE beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.

EastEnders follows the lives of the residents of Walford as they navigate love, loss, family drama, and community struggles.

Here’s the latest on:

Since leaving the show, the star has focussed on a career in theatre as she secured a number of high-profile roles.

In 2019, she hit the road for a nationwide UK tour of The Girl on the Train.

Major social welfare warning as hundreds set to be impacted by closure of An Post office in tiny Irish village

A MAJOR warning has been issued for hundreds of social welfare recipients who are set to be affected by a change in their collection process.

The An Post office in Leenane, Co Galway, is set to close permanently at 3pm on Friday, July 11.

This means that from July 11 onwards, the social welfare recipients will be unable to collect their payments at the post office.

Those receiving payments must receive them from Letterfrack from Monday, July 14, onwards.

A customer notice issued by the post office reads: “Leenane Post Office will permanently close on Friday 11th July 2025 at 15:00.

“All DSP payments will be available at Letterfrack Post Office, The Country Store, Letterfrack from Monday 14th July 2025.

“All other Post Office services are available at Letterfrack Post Office or from a Post Office of your choice.

“An Post would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their continued support.”

However, recipients must be aware that Letterfrack is a 20-minute drive from Leenane, meaning those without a car will have to figure out a way to get there.

Bus Eireann offers bus services between Letterfrack and Leenane, but only comes every two hours, meaning recipients would have to wait for nearly two hours until their next bus home.

The permanent closure is due to the Postmaster in Leenane is leaving the business and it has been unable to find another contractor, Galway Bay FM reports.

It was revealed that An Post hopes to provide a Postpoint terminal at the local shop in the area, which will provide some level of service around financial services and billpay, making it easier for the locals.

NEW CHILD BENEFIT PAYMENT

Meanwhile, Dara Calleary has confirmed his department is “working on” a targeted new Child Benefit payment as part of efforts to tackle child poverty.

However, he warned that an “unintended consequence” of a new system of child income supports could result in a “lower payment than they are currently getting”.

The Fianna Fail TD said the Department of Social Protection has to ensure “people cannot lose out” on the supports they are benefiting from now.

When asked by Independent TD Barry Heneghan for an update on the Department of Social Protection’s exploration of the introduction of a targeted second-tier Child Benefit payment, Calleary said addressing child poverty is a “key priority” for the Government.

He added: “That is why the programme for Government includes a range of measures to support children and their families.

“One such commitment is to explore a targeted child benefit payment and examine the interaction this would have with existing targeted supports to reduce child poverty.

“Existing supports include the working family payment and the child support payment.”

The proposed Child Benefit shake-up would lift some 55,000 children out of income poverty and 25,000 from consistent poverty, according to a recent report from the Economic and Social Research Institute.
