Magnitude 3.5 earthquake hits Calatagan, Batangas
I’m the Queen of Clean – my 40p hack gets stains out of whites in seconds, but there’s an easy mistake NOT to make
A PAIR of white linen trousers or a white T-shirt – two staples in our summer wardrobe this season.
But as chic as they may make us look, light-coloured garments are also prone to stubborn stains that are often impossible to get out.

While there are plenty of store-bought powders and products to tackle this, turns out, you can also use alternative methods for a fraction of the price.
Lynsey Crombie, the Queen of Clean, has shared a simple, cost-effective solution to bring back their brightness without spending a fortune.
The best part? You probably have the item you need in your home already.
If you – or your little one – have been enjoying some time in the grass, the whizz told This Morning viewers how any cheap toothpaste can work wonders to remove stubborn green stains.
However, when trying out this trick, there’s an easy mistake not to make, she warned.
”Don’t go and get the blue one – because you’re just gonna make a mess.
White toothpaste, she explained, has got bicarbonate of soda, which helps lift stains and brighten clothing.
To make your garments sparkle, simply apply the white toothpaste directly to the stain with a drop of water.
Rub in with an old toothbrush and leave to sit for ten to 15 minutes.
Pop it in a cold water wash and leave to dry in the sun.
According to the expert, not only will your clothes come out looking like brand new, they will also have that refreshing mint aroma.
”And don’t go buy a really expensive one – they’re 40p in one of the major supermarkets.
”Keep it in your cupboard, rub it in and then just leave that for a bit.”
More hacks to get rid of harsh stains
- Baking Soda and Vinegar: Make a paste with baking soda and water. Apply to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with vinegar and wash as usual.
- Lemon Juice and Salt: Squeeze lemon juice over the stain. Sprinkle salt generously. Rub the fabric together and leave it in the sun for an hour before washing.
- Hydrogen Peroxide and Dish Soap: Mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. Dab the mixture onto the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse.
- Milk for Ink Stains: Soak the stained area in milk. Leave it overnight. Rinse and wash the following day.
- White Vinegar for Grass Stains: Apply white vinegar directly to the grass stain. Let it soak for 15 minutes. Wash as usual.
- Cornflour for Grease Stains: Sprinkle cornflour onto the grease stain. Let it sit for 20 minutes to absorb the grease. Brush off the cornflour and wash the garment.
- Toothpaste for Collar Stains: Apply a small amount of non-gel toothpaste to the collar stain. Scrub gently with a toothbrush. Rinse and wash as usual.
Zesty trick
But if you don’t have toothpaste at hand, lemons work a treat too, another guru, Thomas Bird, textiles expert and owner of Fabric Online, previously shared.
“Lemon juice is a natural and affordable solution to making your whites even whiter”, he insists.
“Lemons contain citric acid, a natural bleaching agent that effectively breaks down even the toughest stains.
“Unlike chemical whiteners, such as bleach, it lifts stains from your clothes without the risk of damage making it the perfect alternative for brightening your whites.”
A pack of lemons costs just 69p in Aldi, making it a very affordable hack.
Beyond its stain-fighting power, Thomas points out that lemon juice also leaves your clothes with a fresh, citrusy scent whilst eliminating any unpleasant odours.
To use lemon juice in your laundry, simply squeeze three lemons into a glass, which should equal about half a cup of lemon juice.
Next, add the lemon juice directly to your washing machine along with your regular laundry detergent.
Then set your washing machine to the normal spin cycle and let the magic happen.
After the wash, let your clothes dry as usual, and watch the noticeable difference appear as they dry.

Fashionistas have also been raving about the shop’s “unreal” clothing selection, especially one stylish top.
The Bow Detail Peplum Top is priced at just £10 and comes in sizes XS to XL.
It comes in three colours – lemon, baby pink or white – and features pretty bow details and a keyhole front.
And fashion fans have insisted the peplum silhouette is giving 90s vibes.

“Designed in a soft shade, it’s sleeveless for easy layering. The fitted bodice flows into a gentle peplum hem with a V-split at the front, adding shape without the fuss.
“A keyhole cut out down the centre is finished with bow details for a sweet twist.”

While it will look perfect paired with jeans and trainers for a casual look, it can also be dressed up with a satin midi skirt and sandals for summer days.

Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget

By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor
AS someone who’s no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it’s about time that celebrities started catching on too.
For as long as I’ve been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those “I have nothing to wear” moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect.
And I’m definitely not alone – on any Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time.
But no matter what, Primark always delivers.
Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores.
While Rita’s not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she’s proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less.
Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham – if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards.
With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I’m sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.
My favourite outfit has been labelled ‘frumpy & ageing’ by fashion fans but screw them… I’ll be buried wearing it
IT’S been her favourite fashion combo for years.
And Bianca still reaches for a floral dress and denim jacket whenever she wants to feel stylish and comfortable.

But she was left questioning her ensemble when style maven Nerys Middleton labelled it a fashion crime – insisting it’s “frumpy” and “ageing” when worn by a woman over 50.
However, in a video on her TikTok page, Bianca, 51, insisted she doesn’t understand what’s so offensive about the outfit.
“Why am I being told I shouldn’t wear this outfit?” she asked.
“My initial thoughts are, you can wear what the hell you like – it’s none of anybody’s business what you put on your body.
“What is wrong with a woman of 50 wearing this?
“Is it frumpy? Does it age me? Am I out of a loop that I should be in?”
Bianca went on to say that the outfit has worked for her on virtually any occasion – from a festival to a garden party to a pub brunch.
“In fact, I want to be buried in this outfit,” she declared.
After asking whether or not it’s “wrong for a woman over 50 to wear a floral dress and a denim jacket”, Bianca suddenly said: “You know what?
“They can stick that where the sun don’t shine. I like it. I think it looks good. I’m wearing it.
“I’m out of here!”
She then cheekily directed her conclusion at Nerys, as she said: “She can kiss my ass!”
The comments section was almost immediately filled with people debating the style choice, with some agreeing with Nerys.
“You answered your own question when you said you’ve been in love with this combo ‘for years’ … yep. Dated,” one sighed.
“It’s because everyone looks the same. It’s like an over 50’s uniform!” another added.
“Sorry, I’m with Nerys.”
The must-have jacket every woman needs in their wardrobe and how to style it

A CLASSIC trench can see you through to spring and beyond.
Fabulous’ Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale reveals why it’s the only coat you’ll ever need…
“In the autumn, the weather is frustratingly unpredictable, from rain one minute to glorious sunshine the next, it’s hard to keep up. And when it comes to what to wear, it makes dressing tricky.
Luckily, a trench is perfect for this. Nice and light, it can simply be folded away into your bag if you suddenly feel too hot.
I love Tu at Sainsbury’s Stone Longline Belted Trench Coat – was £40, now £28.
During a warm, wet autumn, style your trench coat with a midi dress. Then, when it gets cooler, start layering. Opt for a long sleeve top, sweater vest and boots.
When the winter chill sets in, bigger, thicker knits are a must, and if your trench coat is a little oversized, they will fit perfectly underneath with being too bulky you can’t move your arms.
Opt for thick tights and long boots and I promise you won’t miss your big winter coat.
December is all about festivities and a trench is the perfect option to wear over your party frock to take you from A to B.
And when Spring rolls around with wet weather, it’ll be your trench coat that you’ll be reaching for again.”
“She doesn’t say you can’t, she just says it’s ageing on woman over 50,” a third commented.
“But you’re right, wear what you like and just scroll past if you don’t like her content.”
“She’s entitled to her opinion, I don’t understand why people are so triggered by her!” someone else insisted.
“Wear what you want!”
As another diplomatically wrote: “Do you know, you DO look really good.
“However, many of us don’t and Nerys is quite right.
“In this situation, you’re both right!”

Wimbledon star, 31, cleaned boats and delivered flyers because he didn’t want to step foot on a tennis court
AUSTRALIA has always had a love affair with Wimbledon.
The likes of Rod Laver, Margaret Court, Roy Emerson, John Newcombe and Evonne Goolagong all reigned at the All England Club.

Pat Cash won the hearts of the British public with his win in 1987 while Lleyton Hewitt was the champion in 2002.
Add in the Woodies – Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge – teamed up to claim six doubles crowns together.
Then in recent times Ash Barty and doubles specialists Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell have secured their names in Wimbledon history.
Nick Kyrgios reached the 2022 final while Alex De Minaur is a former quarter-finalist – plus engaged to British star Katie Boulter.
So it is easy to see why Chris O’Connell slips under the radar among Australian tennis names.
After all, the 31-year-old has reached a career-high ranking of No53, pocketing £2.5million in prize money and never been beyond round three in a major.
He reached that stage at the 2022 Australian Open, 2023 Wimbledon and 2024 US Open.
But while his tennis story is really rather ordinary, his life away from the court is anything but – with stint cleaning boats and handing out junk mail.
CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS
Sydney’s O’Connell was raised in the Northern Beaches area of the Emerald City.
It means as well as being one of the world’s best tennis players, he is also a highly accomplished surfer.
Interestingly, though, he supports FA Cup winners Crystal Palace and his favourite subject at school was not PE – but art.
And he has certainly had to get creative during his working life with pro tennis far from his only career.
Australian No4 O’Connell suffered a back stress fracture in 2012 which sidelined him for 18 months then contracted pneumonia in 2017.
But it was knee tendinitis in 2018 that saw him fall out of love with tennis – and he didn’t even want to step foot on the court.
So rather than go into coaching, O’Connell took up his brother Ben’s invitation to clean boats.
The Aussie said in 2020: “At that stage, I was thinking that I’m having too many injuries and wanted to get away from tennis.
“I was thinking to coach kids and maybe do clinics, but I didn’t want to step on a tennis court anymore.
“I decided to do something completely weird.
“I lived on a little bay in Sydney and my brother Ben was there too. He invited me to come clean boats with him.
I think back on times like that when I was working back home, to see where I am now… I can’t really believe it
Chris O'Connell
“I was thinking, ‘Sweet, I don’t have to teach anyone to hit a forehand and I can just clean boats and relax.’
“That’s what I did for the morning and afternoon and I’d ride my bike down to the bay. I did that from February to June.
“It was terrible money and everyone thought I was crazy because I could get more money coaching.
“It was incredibly frustrating, because I was 23 at the time and life was going so quickly. I felt like I hadn’t gotten anything from the game yet and hadn’t reached my potential.
“But I always had in the back of my mind that I was going to get back out there once I was healthy and ready. When I decided to come back in 2019, I had a breakthrough year.
“I do think back on times like that when I was working back home, and to see where I am now, I can believe it, but I can’t really believe it. I hope to stay here for a lot longer still.”
Then in 2023, during his run to the third round at the All England Club, O’Connell revealed boat cleaning was not his only unusual hustle – and he did end up doing a stint teaching others.
The self-confessed late bloomer said two years ago: “This time last year, getting to the top 100 was a huge goal of mine.
“So to be sitting here a year later, looking at top 50, that’s awesome.
“All the odd jobs I’ve worked at.
“Boat cleaning, working in clothes shop, tennis coaching, delivering flyers… I think back on those, and I’m like, ‘Wow, now I’m here.’”

Two teenagers, 18, and 19, killed and ‘several’ injured in horror two-car crash
TWO teenagers have died and several other people have been rushed to hospital following a “tragic” crash near the Cambridgeshire border.
The collision, on June 28, saw a huge emergency response scramble to the Sandy Road between Everton and Sandy at around 2pm.
Two teenagers, aged 18 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene of the horror two-vehicle crash.
The men’s next of kin have been informed and police family liaison officers are supporting them.
A number of other individuals were injured in the smash and were rushed to hospital.
The road was closed while cops carried out an investigation into the incident.
Sergeant Nicholas Kane, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is an unbelievably tragic incident, and our thoughts are very much with all of the family and loved ones of the two men who have sadly died in this collision.
“I am appealing for anyone who was travelling along Sandy Road and Everton Road shortly before 2.40pm to contact us, especially if you have dash-cam footage, even if it doesn’t show the collision itself.”
