THE heartbreaking first picture of a man killed in a car crash has been released alongside tributes hailing him as a “fine young man”.
Dmytro Yefimenko was killed earlier this month after being struck by a car in Co Cavan.
The crash happened on the N54 at Plush, Cloverhill, on the night of January 18.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where Yefimenko, aged 47, was pronounced dead.
His body was removed to the mortuary at at Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem was set to take place.
Now, the details of the tragic man’s funeral have been released alongside the first picture of him since the announcement of his death.
Dmytro, from the main street in Ballniagh, Co Cavan, will be laid to rest today, January 25.
The ceremony had been planned for a different day but was changed due to the ferocious Storm Eowyn.
He will be reposing at the Lakelands Funeral Home on the Dublin Road in Cavan from five o’clock in the evening.
This will be followed by prayers at six before a cremation ceremony.
Dmytro will leave behind his “beloved” daughter Alina as well as his mother Lyubov’, father Anatoliy, and brother Vladimir.
Also mourning the loss are his granddaughter Evangelina as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Dmytro had an extended family and “many, many friends and work colleagues” who will remember him.
Heartbroken mourners have remembered him as a “fine young man” as they offered the family condolences.
One person said: “Our sincere sympathy to all Dmytro’s family on this sad news.
“God help you all to cope with the tragic loss of such a fine young man.
“May Our Lord comfort and console you. May Dmytro’s Soul Rest in the Eternal Peace of Heaven.”
Another added: “Rest in peace dmytro a true gentleman always a smile on your face.
“fond memories i will treasure forever.
“you will be missed by us all here.condolences to your daughter,granddaughter parents brother nieces and nephews work colleagues and extended family and friends.”
A third person put in: “My heartfelt sympathy to this young mans family and all his loved ones Rest in Gods perfect peace.”
And somebody else said: “Deepest sympathy to Dmytro,s family at this heart breaking time.
“Such a fine young man gone far too soon. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
“I hope his family find the strength to carry this heavy cross.God bless you all.”
