Inside Ger Brennan’s life with wife & kids as Louth exit increases rumours he’s set for Dublin job

GER Brennan’s sudden resignation as Louth boss on Tuesday fuelled speculation that he’s set for the Dublin job.

Ever since Dessie Farrell revealed that their defeat to Tyrone was his last game in charge Brennan has been the front-runner to replace him.

As a player, he helped Dublin to the All-Ireland in 2011 and 2013

And that train of thought only gathered further steam when the Wee County announced that Brennan was opting to bring an end to his tenure.

He had completed a two-year term but there was an option for a third. Clearly he would’ve been wanted back having led them to their first provincial title since 1957.

Among those to pinpoint him as the best man for the now vacant Dublin job was Armagh great Aaron Kernan.

He argued: “He would be the obvious one for me. The reality is the success he had with Louth was really just to build Ger’s CV.

“I am sure somewhere down the line that he would have loved to have a go at the Dublin job.

“It may have come a year or two sooner than what he expected but he is the obvious one.

“Maybe Declan D’Arcy, but he is more of a coach. He seemed to build a brilliant rapport with those Dublin players while he was there.

“And maybe a left-fielder in Jason Sherlock or something like that there — but he is more of a coach rather than being the main man.

“I would think Ger would be the frontrunner at this stage if he was to step away from Louth.”

Here, SunSport delves into Brennan’s life beyond the Gaelic football pitch:

WHO IS GER BRENNAN’S WIFE?

His spouse’s name is Aisling and they have four children together.

They got married in Knockanore, county Waterford back in 2017.

After Louth beat Meath in this year’s Leinster Championship decider, Ger noted the significance of where it ranked among the best days of his life.

He hailed: “Between having kids and winning a few All-Irelands, this is right up there.”

WHAT IS GER BRENNAN’S JOB?

According to his LinkedIn page, he’s been employed as a Gaelic Games Development Executive at University College Dublin since 2015.

He previously worked as an Irish and Religion teacher at St Kevin’s College in Dublin 11.

HOW OLD IS GER BRENNAN?

His exact age isn’t publicly available anywhere but he’s likely only in his early to mid 40s considering he played with Dublin until 2015.

Over the course of his nine-year inter-county career the St Vincents clubman lifted Sam Maguire twice. He also retired with five Leinster medals and one All-Star to his name.

Two islanders dumped from Love Island in brutal twist – and they’ve already left the villa

THE ISLANDERS turfed out two of their own in the latest brutal Love Island vote – and the duo have already left the villa.

It’s another savage twist in the series following the arrival of Bilikis Azeez and Ryan Bannister and has left the gang reeling.

The ruthless move happened last night following a mad 24 hours in the Love Island villa.

The bombshells arrived and dated Dejon and Conor, as well as Shakira and Toni, and had heads turning.

The Sun is keeping schtum on how the vote plays out – and who is sent packing – but the action will play out on tonight’s show.

A source said: “Execs continue to throw twists and turns into the series and no one saw this one coming.

“The cast were reeling after this shock move and one ousted Islander in particular will be much missed.”

FANS FUME

It comes after fans were left fuming that no bombshell had been brought in for OG girl Alima Gagigo, as they demanded to know why she’s not being considered.

Commenting on social media after the latest stars were revealed, one wrote: “can they please bring in someone for alima oh my god.”

Another said: “Some good guys need to be brought in for Alima.”

And a third added: “No bombshell for Alima?”

Alima was in a romance with Remell Mullins, but swiftly ended things after learning of his behaviour during a sleepover with Poppy Harrison.

Remell was sent packing in brutal double dumping alongside Megan Forte Clarke last week.

Alima was also caught up in drama between Shakira Khan and Helena Ford, as the fall-out from the Heart Rate Challenge continued.

SHAKE UP

Last week, matchmaking show fans left stunned after a dramatic recoupling ceremony brought unexpected twists and the formation of a brand-new couple.

Love Island viewers are now already backing a new pair as their winners – and even slammed one boy following his brutal confession.

  • Tommy and Emily
  • Shakira and Harry
  • Gio and Yasmin
  • Dejon and Meg
  • Ben and Helena
  • Harrison and Toni
  • Conor and Alima

The mayhem followed Friday night’s emotional dumping, which saw Megan and Remell sent home.

That left Conor and Alima single and vulnerable heading into the next recoupling.

But the biggest surprise of the night was Tommy and Emily finding their way to each other.

They were both recently ditched by their respective partners, Conor and Megan.

Tommy had first pick and in a heartfelt speech, he chose Emily, saying: “Everything happens for a reason.”

Major airline hacked with ‘names, emails, phone numbers and more’ for 6 MILLION passengers stolen in shocking cyber-raid

A MAJOR airline has been hacked with six million passengers’ details stolen in a shocking cyber-raid.

Fraudsters targeted the firm’s call centre and gained access to customers “names, emails, phone numbers and more”.

Qantas said its been subject to a data breach[/caption]

Qantas is Australia‘s largest airline and travels to dozens of national and international destinations.

The company has launched an urgent investigation after detecting a significant cyber attack which compromised the personal data of millions of customers.

“Unusual activity” was discovered on the firm’s system which stores the details of around six million passengers, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates.

The airline reassured customers, however, that personal details like passport numbers, frequent flyer numbers and financial information had not been stolen.

How to get help

In a statement, the airline confirmed it had taken “immediate steps” to contain the threat.

But it warned the full extent of the attack is still being assessed, adding that a “significant” portion of data may have been accessed.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson apologised to affected flyers and urged travellers to contact a “dedicated support line” for any help.

She said: “We sincerely apologise to our customers and we recognise the uncertainty this will cause.”

The airline has notified federal authorities, including the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Cyber Security Centre, and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Uptick in stolen data

The data breach comes just days after holidaymakers were warned about a Booking.com scam that cost victims £370,000.

Fraudsters are hacking hotel accounts on the platform and sending fake messages or emails that look legitimate.

This often happens when hotel staff accidentally click on a malicious link in an email, giving criminals access to the hotel’s account on the platform.

Once inside, scammers send messages to customers claiming payment details need to be verified or that a card has been declined.

Avoiding scams

They then trick holidaymakers into entering their banking details via fraudulent links.

Action Fraud has received over 500 reports of the scam between June 2023 and September 2024, with victims collectively losing £370,000 – or £700 per person.

Customers have shared their close calls with the scam on X (formerly Twitter).

One showed a message directly through their Booking.com app which read: “Dear [XXX], we need you confirmation.

“Your reservation and the details you entered are still pending. If you don’t verify and complete everything within the next six hours, your booking will be automatically cancelled – no exceptions.”

The customer is then directed to click on a rogue link in the message chain to “confirm and finalize” their trip – even though it’s already paid for.

Consumer rights expert Martyn James said: “If you get a message from a hotel or host through Booking.com or an email asking for your card details, ignore it.

“Only go through your Booking.com portal on the website to confirm payment details.

“Do not send money via links and never pay with bank transfers or PayPal‘s ‘friends and family’ option.”

What is a cyber attack?

A CYBER attack is any deliberate attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to computer systems, networks, or digital devices.

These attacks can target individuals, businesses, or even governments, and their motives can range from financial gain to political disruption.

Cyber attacks can take many forms, employing various techniques to achieve their malicious goals.

Common types of cyber attacks include:

  • Malware: Malicious software designed to damage or gain control of a system. Examples include viruses, worms, ransomware, and spyware.
  • Phishing: Deceptive attempts to trick individuals into revealing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, or credit card details, often through fake emails or websites.
  • Denial-of-Service (DoS) Attacks: Flooding a network or server with traffic to overwhelm its resources and make it unavailable to legitimate users.
  • SQL Injection: Exploiting vulnerabilities in website databases to gain unauthorised access to data.
  • Ransomware: Malware that encrypts a victim’s data and demands a ransom for its release.
  • Social Engineering: Manipulating individuals into performing actions or divulging confidential information.

Chants of “paedo” could be heard as cops armed with riot shields escorted the man into a police van.

One woman shouts “don’t protect the f***ing paedos, protect the kids”, as the vehicle drives off.

Projectiles appear to be launched as officers line up and form barricades to transport the man into the van.

The mob then surrounds the police van before it is able to set off down the road.

The carnage is believed to have erupted after a group of vigilante paedo hunters confronted a man they accused of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

The group have since shared a statement on Facebook slamming the unrest as “totally unacceptable”.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that investigations remain ongoing into the circumstances of the arrest.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers have arrested a 38-year-old man from Havant on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a child.

“The man, who was arrested in Middle Park Way in Havant this evening, remains in police custody at the current time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

Kerry Katona reveals tense relationship with first husband Brian McFadden and shares hopes for a friendship with ex

KERRY Katona has opened up about her wish to be friends with her ex husband Brian McFadden – and says what they went through was ‘phenomenal’.

Former singer and TV star Kerry spoke from the heart about her ex during the podcast Meeting… Kerry Katona – and the sadness that has followed.

The Atomic Kitten star, 43, told presenter Matt Foister: “I really wish me and Brian were friends. I said that to Lily yesterday because she was going to [Westlife’s] concert to watch and I said, I wish I could come.”

Revealing her relationship with Brian’s partner Danielle, she said: “I get on really well with his fiancée.

“I think I might have a girl crush on her. I always go off of what my girls say for a stepmum, and she’s the best stepmum.

“On Mother’s Day, I sent her a message. I went, Happy Mother’s Day, Danielle. I think she’s lovely and they’ve got a beautiful little girl, Ruby.

“I wish them nothing but joy and happiness.”

Not being able to keep up with his social media updates, she laughed: “I’m blocked so I can’t see.”

She admitted: “People forget I’ve lived a million lives after Brian, but it was so iconic and it was so public, and people always go on about me and Brian but it was a lifetime ago.

“He is a part of my story and he hates that, but unfortunately it is what it is and I’m grateful to him, because I went through something with Brian that was phenomenal… phenomenal.

“I wish I could sit with him and we could reminisce about it.

“Sometimes I say things in the heat of the moment… maybe one day.

“We went to Molly’s 21st and we were there together, and that was nice.”

Talking about the affect their heavy relationship has on their children, she said: “I’m over all that. It saddens me that my kids feel so uncomfortable if he rings them and I’m in the room, and I find that really sad.

“I’d love nothing more for us all to go for food together. I think that would be great, but it is what it is.

“I have no animosity. I haven’t got the time. My time and energy now at this moment in my life is so precious to me that I have no hatred, no animosity, no dis-harm to anybody, because I’ve not got the time and energy for that. It’s too draining.”

Former pop star Kerry endured a difficult home life followed by an abusive marriage to George Kay, addiction and bankruptcy – but has come out the other side.

The Celebs Go Dating star has found love again after splitting from her fiance Ryan Mahoney.

Westlife singer Brian met his PE teacher partner Danielle Parkinson in 2016 and they got engaged shortly after.

After meeting his long-term love, Brian popped the question shortly after in December 2019.

The happy couple welcomed their daughter Ruby Jean into the world back in 2021.

Brian recently revealed his intimate wedding plans to his fiancée after their five-year engagement.

The happy couple had planned on getting married in South Africa but were forced to postpone their big day due to Covid-19 restrictions and the birth of their daughter.

Brian was previously wed to Kerry Katona from 2002 to 2006. They share two daughters together, Molly Marie and Lilly-Sue.

Following their split, he was engaged to Australian singer Delta Goodrem from 2007 to 2011.

He was then married to model Vogue Williams from 2012 to 2017.

Boyband Westlife have just marked the group’s 25th anniversary.

Phuket Power Outage: Bang Tao Prepares for July 4th Blackout Transformation

As the sun rises over the stunning coastline of Phuket, a different kind of surge is about to sweep through the Bang Tao area—not of the tides, but of silence as the hum of electricity fades away. On Friday, July 4, hundreds of homes, hotels, and businesses are bracing themselves for a planned power outage, all in the name of progress. From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the area will witness an unusual tranquility as the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) Thalang Branch rolls out high-voltage upgrades and sets up new poles along Srisoonthorn Road, carving a path towards the magnificent Surin Beach. This blackout represents a significant infrastructural facelift, affecting a strip starting from the Thalang Power Station 3, stretching all the way to Laem Singh Viewpoint. Nestled within this zone are Moo Baan 2, 3, and 5 in Cherng Talay, each preparing for a day off the grid. Soi…

Teenage Cybercrime Unveiled: Bangkok Noi Arrest Shocks Thai Community

In a dramatic unfolding of events that reads like a Hollywood thriller set in the digital age, the Thai Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC) Task Force flipped the script on a tale of young love that turned perilous. What started off as a seemingly innocent teenage romance morphed into a nightmare, as law enforcement officials swooped in early yesterday morning—7:30 a.m., to be precise—in the bustling Bangkok Noi district. Their target was a 17-year-old identified only as ‘A’, who, under the veil of adolescent curiosity, had spiraled into a web of cyber crimes that left a 13-year-old girl bereft of dignity and security. This operation was not a standalone act. It unfolded through precision collaboration, with the TICAC Task Force coordinating seamlessly with law enforcement bodies to execute an arrest warrant issued by a juvenile court in Udon Thani province in late June. This case hinged on a chilling narrative…
