Ed Sheeran lookalike feared he was going to be killed after thugs targeted him for looking like singer in brutal attack

AN Ed Sheeran lookalike feared he was going to die when he was brutally beaten up at a festival.

Ty Jones was attending Parklife festival in Manchester a couple of weekends ago when he was targeted by a mob of six men – leaving him with a broken nose and two black eyes.

The 30-year-old, who is the UK’s best Ed lookalike – believes he was targeted because he looks so much like the singer and he heard chants of Ed Sheeran before blacking out, telling us: “It was horrible, I thought I was going to die.”

The incident, which his step daughter witnessed, has left him terrified to leave his house and scared to work again.

Explaining what happened Ty, who was attending the event for fun and not work, told us: “As soon as I got there everyone was just mithering me for pictures the whole entire day.

“My step daughter Kelly was going towards the main stage. and I was following, and then when they stopped, I was pushed like mad from the side very aggressively.

“I was like, ‘what’s going on here?’  I thought someone had just pushed someone into me. I didn’t think I’ve done anything wrong.

“And then they pushed me again in my chest, and these girls were asking for pictures.

“I was saying ‘there’s some trouble with these lads, I need to try and get away. I can’t have a picture, basically.

“So I tried to push past him, and as I’ve done that he’s dragged me to the floor.

“And there was another 4 of them basically behind him, and he just kicked and punched me. And they were like savages. They were just like coyotes.”

“it was terrifying. About 6 people kicking my head in on the floor, booting it like a football. Punching me all in the back of my head.”

Fortunately a man in the crowd stepped in and pulled them off him and helped get Ty to safety.

Ty believes he was picked on out of jealousy, telling us: “As I was going through the crowd, people were stopping me and taking videos and photos.

“And then these guys have probably noticed it from the side which I’ve not even noticed, and then shoved me out, probably jealousy, because they’re trying to show off in front of the girls.”

The attack, which Ty says was “very traumatic”, left him with a broken nose, black eyes and concussion.

Ed and Ty are both also the same height

But the psychological damage cuts much deeper, with Ty telling us it brought back terrible memories of being bullied at school for his red hair.

“ I broke down because it felt like I was a kid again, being bullied like I used to get it back in high school and stuff. So it really touched the nerve, and brought back a lot of trauma,” he says.

One of Ty’s biggest concerns was if he would be able to work again – he has been a full time Ed impersonator since the musician burst on the scene.

He’s now not sure what the future holds as he struggles to come to terms with what happened.

“It was a terrifying, horrible experience,  it really was, ” he tells us. “It scared me quite a lot to the point where it’s still terrifying, going out and, doing a gig?  I don’t think I could do it the same again, because of the anxiety that I feel like what’s around the next corner.”

Greater Manchester police are appealing for witnesses, they said: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault at Parklife Festival on Sunday 15 June.

“No arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any mobile phone footage is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the log number 2255 of 15/06/2025.”

I gave birth to ‘Ed Sheeran’s’ baby – I was exhausted but still went to the singer’s concert hours later

By Jon Rogers and Liam Coleman

A WOMAN who had a baby with an Ed Sheeran lookalike was at the singer’s concert just hours after giving birth.

Ty Jones and his partner Amanda Baron welcomed their first child together in June 2022.

They called their daughter Cherry Rose – in a nod to Ed’s wife Cherry Seaborn – and added the middle names Leigh and Sheeran.

And just hours after giving birth, mum-of-five Amanda, from Carrington, Gtr Manchester, was watching her idol in concert.

Having had barely any sleep, the couple went to see Ed perform at Man City’s Etihad Stadium.

Amanda was introduced to Ty by pals who met him at one of the star’s gigs.

Ty, who looks so like the Shape of You singer that he works full-time as an Ed-alike, said: “I feel phenomenal. Cherry is beautiful.”

And Amanda, who is an Ed Sheeran superfan, said: “She’s perfect.”

Cherry Rose, who arrived three weeks early, was born at Wythenshawe Hospital weighing 5lb 6oz at 4.08am.

She said of the baby: “I chose the name Cherry as it’s so sweet.

“We also wanted to keep the Ed Sheeran theme in the family.”

Now, she’s brushed off the mud and hay to reveal her fashion credentials.

In the new edition of Country Life, beaming Harriet poses in a summer dress and knee-high cowgirl boots as she perches on a tractor tyre.

She’s joined by beautiful pooch Tyke, who obediently stands on its hind legs beside her.

The magazine delves into Harriet’s life at her family farm in Belper, Derbyshire.

Jeremy Clarkson recently clarified why Harriet was brought onto the farm as speculation mounted over Kaleb’s future.

He said: “What happened is this, he went away on his speaking tour, for a couple of months because he imagined that after four years, I’d be able to manage on my own.

” I didn’t – I made a complete mess of everything and had to bring in a young girl called Harriet.

“Harriet is brilliant and looked after the fort until he got back.

“That is it – that’s the story!”

Fans are desperate to know if Harriet will remain on the farm when Kaleb returns and, so far, she’s keeping coy, telling them: “Hmm we will have to see.”

The riverside spot has a restaurant too, that overlooks the Thames.

STUNNING new Love Island bombshell Bilikis Azeez secretly dated a former villa hunk – and he was blindsided by her entering the show.

Along with Ryan Bannister, Bilikis is the latest bombshell brought in by producers to stir things up.

But it seems she may already have insider knowledge on the show, as she used to date a past Love Island hunk.

It has come to light that Bilikis, also known as Billykiss, used to date former Islander Dami Hope.

The hunk in trunks appeared on season 8 of the show, which aired in 2022.

Also entering the show as a bombshell, Dami immediately coupled up with Indiyah Polack – who is still his girlfriend to this today.

But before Indiyah, it’s been reported that he dated new bombshell Bilikis.

It’s also been revealed he had no idea that his ex was going on Love Island.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Bilikis and Dami have known each other for years after both growing up in Dublin.

“They dated a long time ago but still run a party business together so Dami not given a heads up on her villa entrance may not have gone down well.

“Their former fling is guaranteed to be discussed on Aftersun given Dami’s girlfriend Indiyah is a regular panellist.”

Dami and Indiyah have been going strong since they met on Love Island three ago, and are the only couple from that series who are still together.

SAVAGE TWIST

Meanwhile, earlier today The Sun exclusively revealed how tonight’s Love Island will see two Islanders get dumped in another brutal Island vote.

The savage twist follows on from the arrival of Bilikis and Ryan and has left the OG Islanders reeling.

Last night saw the two bombshells arrive and go on dates with Dejon and Conor, as well as Shakira and Toni.

The Sun is keeping quiet on how the vote plays out – and who is sent packing – but the action will play out on tonight’s show.

A source said: “Execs continue to throw twists and turns into the series and no one saw this one coming.

“The cast were reeling after this shock move and one ousted Islander in particular will be much missed.”

  • Harry Cooksley: A 30-year-old footballer with charm to spare.

Ageing Dalai Lama sets up chilling clash with enemy China as he reveals succession plan in defiance of communist regime

THE Dalai Lama has reignited a long-standing feud with the Chinese government after he confirmed he will appoint his own successor.

Xi Jinping’s communist regime has warned only they will get the final say over who takes over as the next Buddhist leader.

The ageing Buddhist leader has suffered from several health complications in recent years[/caption]

The announcement from the Dalai Lama on Wednesday put an end to decades of uncertainty over the future of the Tibetan spiritual religion.

In recent years, speculation had grown that the 14th Dalai Lama currently in power could be the final one.

Just four days before his 90th birthday, the head of the religion announced: “I am affirming that the institution will continue.”

Tibetan tradition holds that the soul of a senior Buddhist monk is reincarnated in the body of a child upon his death.

It often takes years to identify the child who is said to be the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama.

His recorded video message also appeared to take aim at China as he said: “No one else has any such authority to interfere in this matter.”

The Chinese have tried to muscle their way into conversations around the Dalai Lama across the past few decades.

Beijing sees the spiritual leader as a “separatist” who is seeking independence from Tibet – therefore weakening China’s grip on the region.

The Chinese army first invaded Tibet to bring them under the control of the Communist Party in 1959.

Since then, the 14th Dalai Lama, born Tenzin Gyatso, has been living in exile in Dharamsala, a Himalayan town in Himachal Pradesh in northern India.

The Nobel Peace Prize-winning Buddhist leader has traveled the world to advocate for nonviolence and the “true” autonomy and cultural and religious freedom of Tibetans.

Angered by the Dalai Lama’s comments, China has been trying to bring elements of the Tibetan religious institution under state control.

They also want to absorb the people into one nation around the Communist Party.

The Chinese government has reportedly assumed they will select the next Dalai Lama.

Beijing insists the next Dalai Lama needs government approval before being declared with the best way of deciding being through a lot-drawing system.

But Beijing’s hopes appear to have been dashed as the sitting leader gathered senior Tibetan Buddhist monks in Dharamsala today and said his office has the “sole authority” over the next reincarnation.

He said he consulted with the heads of Tibetan Buddhist traditions and other religious leaders to search for and recognize a successor as per the traditions.

He has said in the past that his successor would be born in a “free country”, indicating that the next spiritual head could come from Tibetan exiles.

How is the Dalai Lama chosen?

APPOINTING the Dalai Lama has been a centuries-old tradition upheld by Tibetan buddhists.

Believers say the next leader is always reincarnated once the previous one passes away.

Senior monks are tasked with discovering who the holy successor is by searching for them far and wide.

Many believe the chosen one harbours the soul of his predecessor.

The current Dalai Lama, the 14th ever, was identified when he was just two years old.

The sitting Dalai Lama has set up the Gaden Phodrang Foundation to help maintain and support all religious duties – including his successor.

The group’s senior officers, which include his aides, will carry out the procedures of search and recognition in accordance with past tradition, according to his website.

The successor has always been a male child from Tibet but in recent years speculation has grown that the future pick could not be male.

The Dalai Lama himself has even admitted his successor will not be from Tibet or China due to the growing number of believers living outside of the region.

Of the 140,000 Tibetan exiles, half live in India.

He has also expressed being open to a successor who isn’t a child, or not a man, in a break with centuries of tradition.

The Dalai Lama was born Lhamo Dhondup in 1935 to a family of buckwheat and barley farmers in what is now the northwestern Chinese province of Qinghai.

At the age of two, he was deemed by a search party to be the 14th reincarnation of Tibet’s spiritual and temporal leader after identifying several of his predecessor’s possessions.

Nine years after he assumed his position, fears grew that the Dalai Lama could be kidnapped by Beijing.

A subsequent crackdown by the Chinese army forced him to escape disguised as a common soldier from the palace in Lhasa, where his predecessors had held absolute power.

In 2011, he announced he would relinquish his political role, handing over those responsibilities to an elected leader for the Tibetan government-in-exile.

Penpa Tsering was appointed as he said today Tibetans from around the world made an earnest request with single-minded devotion that the position of the Dalai Lama should continue for the “benefit of all sentient beings in general and Buddhist in particular.”

He said in a statement: “In response to this overwhelming supplication, His Holiness has shown infinite compassion and finally agreed to accept our appeal on this special occasion of his 90th birthday.”

Tsering also warned China not to meddle in the decision-making process of the successor due to it being a unique Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

“We strongly condemn the Peoples Republic of China’s usage of reincarnation subject for their political gain, and will never accept it,” he added.

“There was an old fat guy,” he recalled of what he thought upond seeing the photo.

This turning point came just a couple of months into lockdown, and he decided in May 2020 to make a change and work on his health and fitness.

In just six months, he dropped 60 pounds.

He credited a lot of healthy eating for helping him shed teh weight.

After getting rid of all the junk food at his home, he explained: “Then I just put healthy food in the house and I said, ‘OK, puppy, you can have whatever’s there.’”

He then shared before-and-after photos of himself, featuring a photo of him in a cobalt blue long-sleeve and shorts combo on Battle of the Network Sttars and present-day one of him in a T-shirt and shorts.

He captioned the update post: “Me. Before self-designed healthy plant-based eating program & 20 seconds ago.”

The actor added to fans on Instagram of what led him to get healthier: “I looked at myself shortly after my 61st birthday in May and was truly appalled at where I had let my bad habits & pandemic stress lead me.”

He said he now feels “light, flexible, healthy, hydrated & confident.”

The cop, who had more than 30 years of service, punched the driver in the face and pushed him to the floor before stamping on his foot in the horrifying scenes on the A46 in Lincolnshire on May 26, 2021.

Dramatic footage shows Insp Mellor and Shane arguing after pulling up on the side of the road before their confrontation turned violent.

The cop can be seen grabbing Shane by his arm and then by his neck as he throws him towards the side of the road.

As the officer holds Shane by the side of the road, his horrified wife watched on from inside their vehicle, filming the cop.

Tensions begin to rise as the pair discuss why Shane was pulled over, with the driver ordering Insp Mellor to “remove his hand” from close to Shane’s throat.

After Shane pushes the copper away, Insp Mellor launches a sudden attack at the tree surgeon, punching him in the face.

Shane’s wife can be heard shouting at the officer as the pair tussle, with the driver repeatedly exclaiming: “What are you doing?” towards Insp Mellor.

The cop can be seen hitting Shane in the face, before then stamping on his foot – which Shane had told him was injured – and using foul language.

At one point, the officer even tells Shane: “I’m going to take you to the f***ing ground” and “You’ve been f***ing pulled, haven’t you?”

Insp Mellor was charged with common assault for the attack but was found not guilty in 2022.

However, a police disciplinary hearing in January found his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct – adding he would have been sacked if he had not already retired.

Shane told the panel he had been left in pain and was “mentally traumatised” by the horrific fight.

Insp Mellor argued he had punched Shane as a “distraction technique” before pinning him to the floor, reports the Mirror.

The pair had pulled over at the side of the road, following Shane’s request, and after the tree surgeon accused the cop of taking a picture of him while behind the wheel.

Insp Mellor, who was in his own car and on shift as a duty inspector, was wearing a black civilian jacket, covering his police uniform.

Liz Briggs, representing Lincolnshire Police, said the men appeared to “grapple with one another” with Shane heard to be stating repeatedly, “What are you doing?”.

Hunter Gray, representing Insp Mellor, said a punch to Shane’s face and a stamp to his foot were a “recognised distraction technique” to “take control of Shane” due to his “increased agitation”.

He described it as a “road rage” incident and questioned whether the couple were “looking for trouble” when they asked the officer to pull over.

Insp Mellor told the hearing he didn’t take any photos, adding his actions were to “create a space where I’m in control of him and out the way of traffic”.

He also claimed that if he had punched Shane with “full force”, it would have “knocked him out”.

The disciplinary panel rejected claims of self-defence, saying the public would be “appalled” to learn of his behaviour.

It also dismissed Insp Mellor’s claims that Shane was aggressive towards him or that he was trying to protect him from stepping into the dual carriageway.

In addition to Shane receiving a six-figure compensation package, he also had his legal costs paid for, according to the BBC.

Insp Mellor, on the other hand, was found to have breached professional standards of force, discreditable conduct, respect and courtesy.

It also found that the threatening and abusive language used by Insp Mellor was “entirely unjustified”.

Jennifer Ferrario, the legally qualified chairwoman of the panel, said the panel found the copper’s actions in punching and stamping on Shane, as well as restraining him on the ground, to be “entirely unnecessary, unreasonable and disproportionate”.

Lincolnshire Police declined to make any further statement following the payment.

EastEnders star reveals her hair has fallen out amid chronic health battle

AN ex EastEnders star has revealed that her hair has fallen out amid her chronic health battle.

Former Lucy Beale star Melissa, 32, was diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) after experiencing “horrible nausea” in 2023.

She has lost a lot of weight and now her hair is falling out ‘in clumps’[/caption]

Since battling SIBO, the former Walford resident has shed weight unintentionally, with the results of this now visible in more ways than just her slender figure and ribs that show.

Melissa has lost a lot of her hair, and has now opened up about this and how greatly it is weighing on her.

Sharing two snaps, one from August 2023, and one from June 2025, Melissa got candid about the hair loss she has experienced.

“I wanna talk about hair (again),” she said in the lengthy post.

She then explained how when she was making an Instagram reel with her sister the other day and looking at old snaps, she was able to compare “just how much” her illness has changed her hair.

“It’s always been super fine and fairly thing,” she said, adding, “But the difference since becoming unwell is actually WILD.

“I’ve lost length (no this isn’t the result of a haircut), density, moisture, and gloss. All the great things basically.”

Melissa continued: “My hair and body aren’t getting the nutrients they need to thrive, and on top of that, the treatments are stressful on the body, even if ultimately they are doing good.

“And one surefire way to lose hair is stress – physical or emotional will do it, and SIBO has given me both.

“The fact that I’ve managed to stop the hair falling out is absolutely great, but I have a very long way to go and I have to remind myself that it’s not going to be overnight, especially with so many things actively working against me,” she added.

She then urged how she is “depending” on her hair growth journey.

“I’m not some girl who already has think hair, or loses a few strands when she brushes, or who just wants a bit of length.

“I’m someone whose hair refuses to grow, has fallen out in literal clumps, and who is willing to try anything to stop it.

“Basically, you can trust me not to bullsh*t you, and just know that nobody is more invested in my journey than me,” she concluded.

‘THERE’S NO JOY’

Last year, Melissa opened up about her unintentional weight loss exclusively to The Sun.

“Obviously, I’ve lost quite a lot of weight this year,” Melissa began, adding: “But absolutely none of that has been through choice. None of it. Like I’m back in my pre-pregnancy jeans.”

‘She added: “But there’s no joy,” noting: “I don’t enjoy the fact that that’s happened at all in the way that you know, that’s like a goal for a lot of people.

“A) It was never a goal for me. But B) this is the complete antithesis of whatever I’ve ever wanted with my body.

“So that’s been tricky for sure. And then also, just on top of that, like my skin and my hair has been like affected.

“Now I’m dealing with feelings of, you know, not enjoying the way that I look, which is frustrating because I’ve done such a lot of work to get me to a place where.”
