Tadhg Furlong set for Lions return as Andy Farrell names side to face Argentina in Dublin
TADHG FURLONG will bid to prove his fitness for the Lions Tour against Argentina on Friday.
The prop has not played since Leinster’s Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton because of a calf injury.

But he is fit enough to be named on the bench for Andy Farrell’s first game in charge of the Lions at the Aviva Stadium this weekend.
He is joined in the replacements by Rónan Kelleher, the only other Leinster player involved because they were involved in the URC final win over Bulls at the weekend, in which the hooker came off the bench.
There are still three Irish players in the starting XV with 2021 tourists Bundee Aki of Connacht and Munster’s Tadhg Beirne included, along with Finlay Bealham who was added to the squad after Scotland’s Zander Ferguson was ruled out through injury.
Aki and Bealham’s provincial teammate Mack Hansen is also included among the replacements.
Farrell has not included any Bath representatives with the side involved in the Premiership final against Leicester Tigers on Saturday.
Lions captain Maro Itoje will skipper the side for the first time and Farrell said: “It is a truly special moment and one that very few players ever get to experience.
“Maro has led the group well during our time in Portugal and then Dublin this week. This is also our first opportunity to show what the 2025 Lions are about and what we want to stand for as a team.
“We know that Argentina will challenge us up front and out wide – so Friday night will be a tough contest, but also a great occasion for all the fans.”
After their first outing on Irish soil, the Lions will travel to Australia ahead of the three-Test series against the Wallabies.
Lions: M Smith (England), Freeman (England), Tuipulotu (Scotland), Aki (Ireland), van der Merwe (Scotland), F Smith (England), Mitchell (England), Genge (England), Cowan-Dickie (England), Bealham (Ireland), Itoje (England), Beirne (Ireland), Curry (England), Morgan (Wales), Earl (England).
Replacements: Kelleher (Ireland), Schoeman (Scotland), Furlong (Ireland), Cummings (Scotland), Pollock (England), Williams (Wales), Daly (England), Hansen (Ireland).
EastEnders fans rage about ‘continuous blunder’ on soap as they beg bosses ‘sort it out’ – did you spot it?
EASTENDERS fans were left utterly enraged by a ‘continuous blunder’ on the soap.
As hard as the soap actors try, there is one aspect of their job that has seriously gotten on the wrong side of BBC One viewers.

If the residents of Walford are not sinking back pints in the Vic, they are often seen drinking tea at Kathy’s Cafe … or are they?
EastEnders fans have claimed that when some characters are seen with a hot drink either at home or in the ‘caf’, they are in fact just taking in air from empty cups or mugs.
One recent scene saw Phil (Steve McFadden) making George Knight (Colin Salmon) a comforting cuppa in his kitchen.
However, the mugs which were meant to have hot drinks appeared to be completely clear of any drink.
Fans took to social media fan forum site Reddit in their droves where they fumed at the prop mishap in a thread titled ‘Empty Cups!’.
One fan wrote: “Dunno if anyone else here can not stand when the actors clearly give someone an empty cup pretending it’s a full cup of tea or in the cafe, an empty takeaway cup!
“Why can’t they just put an actual drink in it! It is one of my biggest pet peeves watching soaps.”
The soap enthusiast added: “Ben Wadey, sort it out please! “
Other fans seemed to completely agree as they flooded the post with affirming comments.
An additional user noted: “The way they throw around their clearly empty cups like they’re so light and don’t need to worry about spillages drives me insane also.”
“Glad it’s not just me,” stated a third viewer.
As a fourth fan insisted: “It is indeed not just you. It’s so easily solved, too, it’s ridiculous that no one has done this basic stage prep. I’m hoping that changes now with the new regime.”
While someone else claimed: “Even just water in a cup would make it more believable.”
This was as a sixth exclaimed: “YES! It’s bothered me for so many years, just put some liquid in there! The fake drinking acting is always so obvious.”
Pointing one particular scene with former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Patsy Palmer, another watcher added: “The scene where Bianca was drinking tea when Reiss snuck back into the house anniversary week drove me mental.
“No disrespect to Patsy as she’s a top notch actor, but she was CLEARLY swallowing air and the mug completely empty while she was gingerly putting it down.”

EastEnders continues on BBC One and is available on iPlayer.
Felix Jones is back with renewed purpose to help Springboks evolve in 2025

When is Amazon Prime Day UK 2025? Dates confirmed
THE annual Amazon Prime Day event is officially returning for 2025, and there’s not long to wait until the deals drop.
Amazon’s popular Prime Day sale is set for July 8, and for the first time, the retailer is treating shoppers to four days of unmissable deals.

Sign up to Amazon Prime
The retail giant has promised Prime members in the UK will be able to shop “some of Amazon’s best deals of the summer” with “deep discounts on some of the biggest brands, viral hits, and bestselling favourites.”
Amazon constantly runs great price drops on everything from sunscreen to fans, but Prime Day is a chance to save even more on summer essentials.
Last year’s Prime Day was the biggest ever recorded, with bargain hunters snapping up more than 200 million items from independent sellers during the 48-hour sale.
Amazon also revealed that throughout 2024, Prime members in the UK saved nearly £200 on average on delivery costs alone – more than double the annual membership fee.
This year, members can expect major savings across tech, home appliances, beauty, fashion, and more.
The highly anticipated sale is perfect for stocking up on everything you need for summer and beyond, all with the benefit of fast, free delivery.
The timing couldn’t be better for savvy shoppers looking to score significant savings on big-ticket items, must-have gadgets, and everyday essentials without having to wait for the autumn sales.
We’ll be rounding up the best deals closer to the shopping event, so make sure to keep checking back.
When is Prime Day 2025?

Amazon has officially confirmed that Prime Day will return next month, giving shoppers the chance to bag massive bargains in the retail giant’s biggest sale.
The summer shopping extravaganza, which returns on July 8, 2025, will offer Prime members major discounts across top brands.
Prime members can look forward to exclusive access to these limited-time deals – from tech gadgets and home appliances to beauty must-haves and fashion steals.
The July timing follows Amazon’s established pattern, with last year’s summer Prime Day taking place on 16-17 July 2024, when members enjoyed thousands of discounts across all categories.
For bargain hunters who couldn’t wait until summer, Amazon held its Spring Deal Days for 2025, running from March 25-31, with discounts of up to 40% across more than 35 categories.
If you’re looking to maximise your savings throughout the year, it’s worth noting that Amazon typically hosts a second major sale event in October.
While not yet confirmed for 2025, last year’s Big Deal Days kicked off the holiday shopping season on October 8-9.
How do I get access to Amazon Prime Day deals?
If you don't want to miss the deals, you'll need to become a Prime member.
The massive summer sale is exclusively for Amazon Prime members, meaning you’ll need to sign up if you want access to those jaw-dropping discounts when the event kicks off.
Prime membership is easy to sort and comes with loads of perks, including next-day delivery and access to Prime Video and Amazon Music.
The subscription will set you back £8.99 a month, or you can save by opting for the annual membership at £95.
But here’s the money-saving hack savvy shoppers need to know – if you’re brand-new to Prime you can sign up for a 30-day free trial, giving you completely free access to the sale when it launches.
Just remember you’ll need to cancel your membership before the 30-day trial ends to avoid being charged the ongoing £8.99 monthly fee.
With Prime Day 2025 promising “some of Amazon’s best deals of the summer” across top brands and bestsellers, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab those big-ticket items you’ve had your eye on.
How long will Prime Day 2025 last?
The Prime Day event will take place from July 8 to July 11, 2025, giving bargain hunters double the time to snap up unmissable offers.
According to Amazon, there will be deals across all categories, with discounts on top brands like Dyson, Lego, CeraVe, and Ninja, and that’s not all.
The retailer is also set to introduce ‘Today’s Big Deals’, featuring daily themes curated exclusively for members, including limited-time ‘New Deal Drop’ deals launching at midnight every day throughout the shopping event.
We recommend keeping a close eye on the Prime Day deals hub on Amazon’s website, which will highlight the best offers as they go live.
You can also check out the best Prime Day deals according to our team of Sun Shopping experts, who’ll be working around the clock to spot the genuine bargains worth your hard-earned cash.
Amazon Prime vs Black Friday: which is better?

Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday are two of the biggest shopping events of the year – but which offers the best bang for your buck?
Prime Day was originally launched in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday, but has since evolved into an annual mega sale that rivals Black Friday and Cyber Monday for serious bargain hunters.
But in terms of length, scale, and discount quality, Black Friday is still the reigning deals period of the year.
You’ll find terrific price drops during both sales, and it’s not impossible that some Prime Day offers may well match those you find during Black Friday.
One major difference is that Prime Day deals are exclusive to Prime members, while Black Friday sales are open to everyone.
This means you’ll need a £8.99 monthly subscription (or a free trial) to access the discounts.
The other key difference is timing. Prime Day happens in July – perfect for summer purchases and early Christmas shopping – while Black Friday kicks off the festive shopping season in late November.
A great way to check whether the deals are as good as they appear over Prime Day is by using price tracking sites like camelcamelcamel.
Other price comparison sites, such as Idealo are also helpful and allow you to compare and track across multiple retailers.
Our Sun Shopping experts recommend keeping your eye on both sales events for the best deals.
What were the best Prime Day deals in 2024?
Amazon’s enormous Prime Day event 2024 saw millions of impressive price cuts, but some deals stood head and shoulders above the rest.
Tech gadgets were the big winners during the summer sale, with shoppers going wild for discounted Apple products like the AirPods Pro, which were discounted to £179 – a massive saving of £70 on the usual £249 price tag.
Amazon’s own devices were also predictably among the hottest sellers, with the Echo Dot smart speaker plummeting to just £21.99 – less than half its normal price.
Fire TV Sticks were another winner, with the 4K version dropping to a bargain £34.99, making it the perfect time to upgrade that older telly without splashing out on a whole new set.
In the kitchen department, the Ninja air fryers were the must-have item of Prime Day 2024, with several models selling out completely after discounts of up to £80.
Vacuum cleaners from Shark and Dyson also proved as popular as ever, with the cordless models seeing some of the biggest price drops of the event.

Here’s a run-down of the dates that Amazon Prime Day has taken place since its inception in 2015:

Arsenal in race against time to complete striker transfer in order to prevent title being lost by September
SUDDENLY there’s a new urgency to Arsenal’s long-running manhunt for a centre-forward.
Fixture release day has handed Mikel Arteta’s eternal bridesmaids trips to Old Trafford and Anfield before the transfer deadline, followed by clashes with Manchester City and Newcastle in September.

It means Arsenal need to get hitched with a new striker – and fast.
Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have all been busy in the early days of the summer market, yet all has been quiet at Arsenal – runners-up for three seasons in a row.
While Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga are expected to arrive at the Emirates soon, Arsenal are in desperate need of a frontman.
It’s a tale as old as Arteta’s five-and-a-half-year reign and the Spaniard has made no secret of his desire to capture an out-and-out goalscorer, after Kai Havertz’s injury in January kyboshed his slim hopes of challenging Liverpool for the title last term.
New Emirates sporting director Andrea Berta is prioritising a striker and has several plates spinning – with RB Leipzig hitman Benjamin Sesko and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokores both leading targets.
There’s a very high chance that Swede Gyokores will play in the Manchester United versus Arsenal fixture on the opening weekend of the season – but for which side?
Ruben Amorim hopes his close links with Gyokeres will lure the former Coventry man to Old Trafford – despite the absence of European football for only the second time in 35 years.
Meanwhile, Leipzig are playing hardball over a fee for 22-year-old Slovenian forward Sesko – with an eye-watering £85million asking price.
JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS

When fixtures for the new campaign are released, it’s always worth pointing out that – yep – every Premier League club will play every other club at home and away.
But Arsenal’s fixture list is seriously front-loaded. While United may no longer be the United of old, the first Sunday of the season is not an ideal time to visit, with new signings and (perhaps short-lived) optimism in the air.
A trip to champions to Liverpool on the weekend before the window shuts on September 1 is formidable.
Then comes a September which brings from City and Nottingham Forest, as well as a Champions League opener, before the long haul to St James’ Park – where the Gunners were beaten twice last season.
Arteta will be dreading the idea of a scramble for a striker on deadline day – and with a winger also wanted, to challenge Gabriel Martinelli – the Gunners boss is keen to get both on board before the pre-season trip to Singapore and Hong Kong in late July.
After five seasons without silverware, Arteta’s need to hit the ground running is clear, if Arsenal are to clinch a first title in 22 years.
Berta is determined not to fall into the trap of singling out one striker, missing out and leaving Arteta to settle for what he has got – namely Havertz, who may well be more effective as a No 10, and Gabriel Jesus, still recovering from an ACL injury.

Gyokores and Sesko are not the only men on Berta’s hitlist – although Arteta’s ideal signing, Alexander Isak, looks out of reach now that Newcastle are back in the Champions League.
And Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins does not represent value for money at around £80m for a man who turns 30 this year.
Arsenal are free to spend big, under PSR regulations, this summer.
Yet if they land an expensive striker and a winger – with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon all on Arsenal’s radar – then sales may be needed.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is surplus to requirements, while fellow defenders Jakub Kiwior and Riccardo Calafiori could be off-loaded.
Left-back Calafiori – signed only last summer but overtaken by Myles Lewis-Skelly – is wanted by AC Milan but believed to be keen on staying at the Emirates.
Inside Arsenal's frustrating striker transfer saga
By Jordan Davies
ARSENAL’S never-ending hunt for a world-class striker is in turmoil as deals for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres stall.
The Gunners were confident of doing their business quickly this summer after months of preparation by boss Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta.
But inflated asking prices and broken gentlemen’s agreements have derailed those plans and left Arsenal frustrated.
Sesko believed he would be allowed to leave RB Leipzig for around £60million, while SunSport understands Gyokeres was told £59m would be enough to seal his own exit.
But those price-tags have gone up, leaving Arsenal debating whether they represent value for money.
While the players’ camps are also growing restless, knowing the Gunners can only sign one of them.
So what next? Will Arsenal keep waiting in the hope of fees eventually going down? Or turn to other targets, like Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike?
Whatever they decide, with pre-season looming and the fixtures already out, Arteta will be desperate for them to move quickly to avoid another nearly season.
National state of disaster declared in South Africa
