Blue coat & abandoned Fiat -how case of missing psychiatrist was only solved 12 years on when another man met same fate
THE MYSTERY of a missing doctor who vanished in a Welsh national park has finally been solved twelve years later.
Psychiatrist Shayne Eves Colaco went for a walk in the Carneddau mountains in Eryri – also called Snowdonia – when he disappeared.

He drove from Stoke-on-Trent in the summer of 2012 and set off walking towards 3,209ft Pen yr Ole Wen.
But he didn’t return to his Fiat car and was never seen again.
Despite searches, cops couldn’t find him and he was declared dead six six later, despite his body remaining undiscovered.
Fast forward to January last year, when David Brookfield, 65, also vanished in the Welsh Carneddau mountains.
He WhatsApped his wife from the summit of Carnedd Llewelyn, but no one ever heard from him again.
For four months, searches were carried out to no avail.
But in May 2024, a blue jacket was sighted in the Ogwen Valley by a passing coastguard helicopter on a routine training exercise.
It is believed David had fallen in a gully and was seriously injured on his descent from the mountain.
While his body was recovered, mountain rescue made another change discovery.
They spotted another jacket further down the gully, that looked far older and seemed to have been there for some time.
Sgt Paul Terry of the North Wales Police drone unit recalled to North WalesLive:
“The jacket didn’t seem to fit with the picture of what we were investigating. It was an older jacket, one that seemed to have been there for some time and inside the pocket was a car key.
“Deep in the memory of this rescue team was Shayne Colaco, who had gone missing in the same area 12 years earlier.”
As the cops investigated further, they were “amazed” to find that the details matched up with the missing hiker.
So they resumed the search for Shayne in another bid to find him and bring peace to his family.
A drone pilot then noticed a piece of fabric under a bush in the gully.
Sgt Terry continued: “Quite incredibly, [he] realised that he had also discovered the remains of Shayne Colaco.
“What’s really so amazing about this story is that so many of the people involved in searching for David had also been involved in the searches 12 years before for Shayne.”
David and Shane were both experienced walkers who were well prepared, and Sgt Terry warned hikers that it’s important to understand the danger of the hills and weather.

Millions of Brits unlock three new TV channels in huge ‘June update’ for popular free telly service including ‘ITV Quiz’
MILLIONS of Brits are getting access to three news channels in a big June update of a major TV service.
Freeview watchers can enjoy the new channels as the changes start to roll out.

Starting from this week, viewers will be able to tune into the following channels.
ITV Quiz, a fresh channel dedicated to quizzes, will be replacing the now defunct ITVBe.
It will broadcast a range of quiz shows between 9am to 1am.
This will include popular shows such as Tipping Point, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Lingo, Tenable, and Deal or No Deal.
It can be found on Freeview Channel 28.
OUTflix Proud, which will be on Hybrid Freeview Channel 288, will show LGBTQ+ original series from the OUTtv streaming platform.
According to Cord Busters, Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv, said the launch is “a major step forward in our mission to make LGBTQ+ stories more accessible to viewers around the world”.
Shopping channel Must Have Ideas, which is also available on Freesat and Sky, will soon make its way onto Freeview too.
It will be found on Freeview Channel 96 when it starts broadcasting.
Freeview watchers looking to enjoy the new channels should check to see if their TVs need to be retuned.
Some devices will return automatically, but others will need to be done manually – so it’s worth checking to see if your TV is one of them.
Channel names and numbers will not be correct or up to date on a TV that has not been properly returned.
But anyone looking to make sure their tech is up to date should also take note of the latest iPhone news.
Apple fans across the world are due to get the free iOS 26 upgrade later this year, giving their iPhones bonus features at no extra cost.
Phones as old as the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd gen) will be able to get iOS 26.
But you won’t if you’ve got an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max.
Anything older than that won’t be eligible for the upgrade either.

The fatal work-place accident occurred in Bonane on June 17, at around 5pm.
Breda Lynch was an All-Ireland sheep shearing champion on several occasions.
Speaking at an event in 2019 about her career she said she wasn’t sure how many All-Irelands she had won.
Breda said: “I definitely have 12 but it could be 14.”
She added: “I didn’t get a trophy every year I won so I don’t actually know how many I have won.
“I won the All-Ireland Ladies Championship on Sunday with the electric shears, and I had only gone up as a spectator.
“I’ve been ill for a few years, and at one point I thought I’d never compete again. It was a spur of the moment thing. I also got a certificate for ‘Outstanding Service to the Sheep-Shearing Industry’.”
Paying tribute local Independent Councillor Dan McCarthy, who is also the manager of Kenmare Mart, said: “There is huge shock in the area at the passing Breda. She was very well-known in this area and beyond.”
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochána confirmed they attended the accident and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
They said: “Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a work-related incident that occurred in Bonane, Kenmare, Co. Kerry on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at approximately 5pm.”
Gardai said an examination of the scene was conducted.
The Coroner for Kerry has been notified and a file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified and are investigating the matter.
The HSA have also confirmed an investigation is underway.
No funeral arrangements have been made as yet.

Suntago Water World is a one-of-a-kind tropical attraction with 18 swimming pools, 35 slides and it’s getting even bigger.

Suntago Water World is so huge it can host 15,000 visitors per day and it’s the largest waterpark on the continent.
Soon, it will be able to accommodate more guests staying over as it announces plans for the future, including constructing a four-star hotel
