Former Chelsea star, 46, handed five-year ban from all football activity following dispute with Samuel Eto’o

FORMER Chelsea star Geremi has landed a five-year ban from football – after a dispute with fellow ex-Blue Samuel Eto’o.

The Cameroon international won Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006 while at Stamford Bridge.

Midfielder Geremi also played for Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Real Madrid.

The 46-year-old has headed the Cameroon players’ union Synafoc in recent years.

But the West African country’s FA, Fecafoot, has now banned him from football until 2030, as well as fining him £13,000.

Ex-Chelsea, Everton, Barcelona and Inter Milan star Eto’o, 44, is president of the association.

Their dispute dates back to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast, when Geremi is said to have had a dressing-room row with one of Eto’o’s staff.

Fecafoot’s ethics committee announced: “We declare Geremi Sorel Njitap, the president of Synafoc, guilty of breaking the behaviour rules of our code of ethics.

“We sentence him to a ban from all forms of football activity for five years, and to a fine of ten million West African francs [£13,000].

“He has ten days to submit a written appeal.”

Geremi’s assistant Daniel Blaise Ngos has meanwhile been banned for two years and fined £6,500 for his part in the dispute.

The midfielder won 118 caps for Cameroon, scoring 13 goals for the Indomitable Lions.

He helped them win Olympic gold in 2000, as well as two Africa Cups of Nations.

A La Liga winner with Madrid in 2001, he also played for clubs in Paraguay, Turkey and Greece.

He infamously split from wife Laure last year after DNA tests showed the two children he thought were his were fathered by her ex.

Casino Rocket’s gambling license is issued in Curaçao. The details are at the bottom of the homepage, and this information can be verified on the commission’s website. That’s the first guarantee of trust and proof that you are playing at a legitimate casino site.

The Casino Rocket platform is relatively new, but they’ve developed a solid reputation for fair play. Games are independently tested, and the random number generators produce provable results. SSL security is also in place to keep customer details safe when online.

Expert’s verdict about Casino Rocket

All online casinos will have pros and cons, but the upsides at Casino Rocket certainly outweigh any potential negatives. One of the biggest advantages is the variety of games, which is wider here than most. With 77 developers standing by, it could be bigger, but it’s a good starting point.

The offers and promotions should also prove beneficial, although wagering terms can be higher than average in places. The introduction of a mobile app would also be welcome, but overall, this is an impressive platform and one that Irish players should find to their liking.

Tadhg Furlong set for Lions return as Andy Farrell names side to face Argentina in Dublin

TADHG FURLONG will bid to prove his fitness for the Lions Tour against Argentina on Friday.

The prop has not played since Leinster’s Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton because of a calf injury.

Leinster star Tadhg Furlong will start at Aviva Stadium on Friday as he bids to prove his fitness

But he is fit enough to be named on the bench for Andy Farrell’s first game in charge of the Lions at the Aviva Stadium this weekend.

He is joined in the replacements by Rónan Kelleher, the only other Leinster player involved because they were involved in the URC final win over Bulls at the weekend, in which the hooker came off the bench.

There are still three Irish players in the starting XV with 2021 tourists Bundee Aki of Connacht and Munster’s Tadhg Beirne included, along with Finlay Bealham who was added to the squad after Scotland’s Zander Ferguson was ruled out through injury.

Aki and Bealham’s provincial teammate Mack Hansen is also included among the replacements.

Farrell has not included any Bath representatives with the side involved in the Premiership final against Leicester Tigers on Saturday.

Lions captain Maro Itoje will skipper the side for the first time and Farrell said:  “It is a truly special moment and one that very few players ever get to experience.

“Maro has led the group well during our time in Portugal and then Dublin this week. This is also our first opportunity to show what the 2025 Lions are about and what we want to stand for as a team.

“We know that Argentina will challenge us up front and out wide – so Friday night will be a tough contest, but also a great occasion for all the fans.”

After their first outing on Irish soil, the Lions will travel to Australia ahead of the three-Test series against the Wallabies.

Lions: M Smith (England), Freeman (England), Tuipulotu (Scotland), Aki (Ireland), van der Merwe (Scotland), F Smith (England), Mitchell (England), Genge (England), Cowan-Dickie (England), Bealham (Ireland), Itoje (England), Beirne (Ireland), Curry (England), Morgan (Wales), Earl (England).

Replacements: Kelleher (Ireland), Schoeman (Scotland), Furlong (Ireland), Cummings (Scotland), Pollock (England), Williams (Wales), Daly (England), Hansen (Ireland).

EastEnders fans rage about ‘continuous blunder’ on soap as they beg bosses ‘sort it out’ – did you spot it?

EASTENDERS fans were left utterly enraged by a ‘continuous blunder’ on the soap.

As hard as the soap actors try, there is one aspect of their job that has seriously gotten on the wrong side of BBC One viewers.

Soap enthusiasts have claimed that often the cups in the cafe are completely empty[/caption]

If the residents of Walford are not sinking back pints in the Vic, they are often seen drinking tea at Kathy’s Cafe … or are they?

EastEnders fans have claimed that when some characters are seen with a hot drink either at home or in the ‘caf’, they are in fact just taking in air from empty cups or mugs.

One recent scene saw Phil (Steve McFadden) making George Knight (Colin Salmon) a comforting cuppa in his kitchen.

However, the mugs which were meant to have hot drinks appeared to be completely clear of any drink.

Fans took to social media fan forum site Reddit in their droves where they fumed at the prop mishap in a thread titled ‘Empty Cups!’.

One fan wrote: “Dunno if anyone else here can not stand when the actors clearly give someone an empty cup pretending it’s a full cup of tea or in the cafe, an empty takeaway cup!

“Why can’t they just put an actual drink in it! It is one of my biggest pet peeves watching soaps.”

The soap enthusiast added: “Ben Wadey, sort it out please! “

Other fans seemed to completely agree as they flooded the post with affirming comments.

An additional user noted: “The way they throw around their clearly empty cups like they’re so light and don’t need to worry about spillages drives me insane also.”

“Glad it’s not just me,” stated a third viewer.

As a fourth fan insisted: “It is indeed not just you. It’s so easily solved, too, it’s ridiculous that no one has done this basic stage prep. I’m hoping that changes now with the new regime.”

While someone else claimed: “Even just water in a cup would make it more believable.”

This was as a sixth exclaimed: “YES! It’s bothered me for so many years, just put some liquid in there! The fake drinking acting is always so obvious.”

Pointing one particular scene with former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Patsy Palmer, another watcher added: “The scene where Bianca was drinking tea when Reiss snuck back into the house anniversary week drove me mental.

“No disrespect to Patsy as she’s a top notch actor, but she was CLEARLY swallowing air and the mug completely empty while she was gingerly putting it down.”
