Glastonbury fans convinced huge rock band will headline Other stage after spotting tour clues
GLASTONBURY fans are desperate to know which stars are taking to the stage this year – with one Scottish rock act notably becoming a favourite.
Biffy Clyro are expected to return this year with a new album, four years since their last effort, The Myth of the Happily Ever After.
The Glastonbury countdown is on[/caption] Biffy Clyro has become a favourite to headline the Other Stage[/caption] The Scottish group are heading out on tour this year[/caption]And they’re already lined-up for a number of European festival appearances across the summer.
After it was announced they would be appearing at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival on July 12, fans took to Reddit to note that their tour does have space to appear at Glasto.
Taking to the site, one fan wrote: “Biffy have the headliner slot at TRNSMT and are touring some festivals in the summer. Would love to see them back at the farm! Thoughts?”
“Would be a brilliant other stage headliner. Think their catalogue is too big (and great) to not do a headline slot,” one replied.
“Could see a secret set slot or other stage headline this year if a new album is on the way, and then potentially making the jump to Headline the festival in 27/28? They’re surely capable of headlining outright now,” noted a second.
“Do Biffy have new music on the way? They’ve secured some incredible festival slots without releasing anything new for like 4 years,” wrote a third.
“I like them btw, almost their entire catalogue, it’s just quite unusual. An other headline would be great.”
Glastonbury is running from 25 to 29 June this year, with the official line-up still yet to be revealed in full.
The Sun previously revealed that pop icons Chappell Roan, Charli XCX and Olivia Rodrigo are all set to perform at Glastonbury next year.
They join The 1975, Stevie Wonder and Neil Young who are due to perform on the Pyramid Stage.
But it does fit in with Biffy’s announced availability, with the band kicking off performances in Europe, starting with Rock AM Ring on June 6 in Nuremberg, Germany.
They’ll then continue with performances in Czech Republic, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Austria before heading to Southside Festival which runs 20 to 22 June in Germany.
After that, there is no new announcements except for TRNSMT Festival.
Other line-up rumours currently include Scissor Sisters, legendary punk rocker Billy Idol, and The Maccabees.
Glastonbury 2025 - rumoured acts
THE Glastonbury line-up hasn't been confirmed - despite the fact tickets for the 2025 event sold out in minutes. Here are some rumoured acts.
Basement Jaxx sparked speculation they will be playing at Worthy Fam after leaving a “Glastonbury shaped gap” in their latest tour schedule.
It came after the hit duo announced their first live shows in 10 years – with gig-goers calling out a key “clue” in the order of their concert dates.
Yet acts including Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Eminem are rumoured to be in the mix.
Canadian songstress Alanis Morrisette and Simple Minds have also been tipped to take to the stage.
The event will run from Wednesday, June 25 to Sunday June 29 for 2025.
Shamrock Rovers make ex-Celtic and Wales star latest transfer signing as Stephen Bradley reveals plans for more
SHAMROCK ROVERS have snapped up former Wales defender Adam Matthews and Stephen Bradley hopes to bring in further re-enforcements.
Ex-Celtic man Matthews, 33, was most recently with Omonia Nicosia but has become the Hoops fifth new arrival following Ed McGinty, Danny Grant, Michael Noonan and Matt Healy.
And more could follow with Rovers’ still keen on re-signing Johnny Kenny on loan from Celtic, though any future move will likely only be until July.
Boss Bradley said: “We’re still talking with people and that will continue. These things take time, but we’re definitely still talking to one or two others that we’d like to bring in.
“Also, as we’ve done every year, we’ll be patient in what we do, we have our targets, and we’ll work on them and do our best as a club to make them come off.”
But he was delighted to get the deal for Matthews over the line after talks throughout the off-season to bring the 14-times capped Welshman to Tallaght.
Bradley added: “He’s one we’ve been working on for a while now and had many conversations. We are delighted to get Adam in, with the level he has played at.
“Stephen McPhail (Sporting Director) had actually played with Adam, so we knew quite a lot about him.
“He will bring really valuable experience, and his ability on the pitch speaks for itself so we’re really looking forward to getting Adam in.”
Matthews has plenty of experience from his time at Cardiff City, Celtic, Sunderland and Charlton.
And Bradley acknowledged that the defender – who can play anywhere across the back line – will be important in the build-up to next month’s Conference League play-off with Molde.
He said: “The level Adam has played, that will be really important in the lead up to the Molde games and the games themselves.
“But obviously we haven’t just signed Adam for those Molde games, we’ve signed him as he’ll add real value to the group on and off the pitch.”
