Everyone can see the ice skater but you need 20/20 vision and a high IQ to spot the mistake in 7 seconds

HERE is another fun brain teaser to test your eyesight and powers of logic.

Everyone can see the ice skater on the rink – but only those with 20/20 vision and high IQ can spot the mistake in the image within seven seconds.

The ice-skater in the picture is clearly having a good time.

You can tell by the grin spread across her face.

Her arms are outstretched as if she is gliding along.

The rink otherwise seems to be deserted.

The hundreds of empty seats in the background suggest it could be after hours.

Or perhaps she just got there early to beat the crowds.

Either way, she seems to know what she is doing.

The lack of protective gear shows she is confident of avoiding any nasty slams.

All the appropriate gear is present: hat, gloves, coat – and her own skates.

Here’s a clue if you’re struggling.

Have a close look at all the pieces of kit listed above – and see if you can spot anything unusual about them.

Don’t worry if you’re still struggling, we’ve included the solution below.

Did you know that optical illusions have an array of benefits for your mind and body?

People who are able to solve the puzzle quickly possess good observational skills and high cognitive speed.

It tests your ability to process a high volume of visual information and the ability to concentrate under high amounts of pressure.

Psychologists at The University of Glasgow found that staring at an optical illusion can improve eye sight by allowing you to see small print.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

Engaging in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Some benefits include:

  • Cognitive stimulation: Engaging in these activities challenges the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
  • Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
  • Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
  • Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.

Here is the answer for those of you still searching.

The girl’s skates are jagged and bumpy – no good for gliding along the ice.

If you enjoyed that teaser, have a go at the others below.

As always, solutions are at the bottom.

The mistake that makes your house a target for burglars & two things that keep you safe, from a convicted thief

SMALL features in your home can be make or break when it comes to safety.

A convicted thief revealed the common mistake she’d look out for when “casing” properties.

In a Reddit post, the unnamed user shared the details that would draw her to a home and the things that made her avoid others.

And since homes are more likely to become targets during the cold weather, now is the time to take action.

The 26-year-old described herself as a “former home burglar,” revealing that she served two years of a three year sentence after being convicted.

After learning to cut hair while incarcerated, she got her certification when she was released and now works as a beautician.

The original poster is now sharing her expertise to help people protect their homes from burglars.

She explained that she began breaking into problems when she was 18, homeless, and struggling with addiction issues.

The mum-of-one said she is now “very remorseful” about her past actions.

“I’m simply trying to add some insight and perspective,” the Redditor said.

She revealed the common move that would attract her to certain properties.

“The houses I looked at most were the ones that didn’t have cars in front during the day,” she explained.

This hinted that nobody was home, and if these properties also had a back entrance, they became the perfect target.

She added that “climbable windows were another big plus” when it came to breaking and entering.

“A decent amount of space between neighbors was a plus for me,” the Redditor said.

On the other hand, small things can make a difference between your home staying secure or becoming a target.

“I avoided houses with dogs outside out of fear that it would bark and alert someone,” she revealed.

How to protect your home from burglars

  • Install a home security system:
    • Consider alarms, CCTV cameras, and smart doorbells.
    • Choose systems that allow remote monitoring via smartphone.
  • Secure doors and windows:
    • Ensure all doors and windows have robust locks.
    • Use deadbolts and window locks for added security.
    • Consider installing a peephole or door chain.
  • Improve outdoor lighting:
    • Install motion-sensor lights around your property.
    • Ensure pathways, driveways, and entrances are well-lit.
  • Maintain your garden:
    • Keep hedges and shrubs trimmed to eliminate hiding spots.
    • Store tools and ladders securely to prevent their use in break-ins.
  • Use timers for lights:
    • Set timers to turn lights on and off to give the impression someone is home.
    • Consider using smart plugs to control appliances remotely.
  • Secure garages and sheds:
    • Ensure these areas are locked with strong padlocks.
    • Store valuable items out of sight.
  • Get to know your neighbours:
    • Join or form a neighbourhood watch scheme.
    • Encourage neighbours to keep an eye on each other’s properties.
  • Be cautious with social media:
    • Avoid posting holiday plans or location updates online.
    • Ensure privacy settings are secure to limit who can see your posts.
  • Mark valuables with a UV pen:
    • Use a UV pen to mark valuables with your postcode and house number.
    • Register items with a property database for easier recovery if stolen.
  • Consider installing a safe:
    • Use a safe to store important documents and valuable items.
    • Ensure the safe is securely bolted to the floor or wall.
  • Review your home insurance:
    • Check that your home insurance policy is up to date.
    • Ensure it covers the value of your possessions.
  • Conduct regular security checks:
    • Periodically review and update your home security measures.
    • Ensure all systems and locks are in good working order.

“If the house had cameras I would avoid them for obvious reasons, security cameras are a good deterrent.”

The original poster added that leaving a TV on can also help give the illusion someone is home, making it “more likely to be left alone.”

According to the thief, burglars are also more likely to target properties during the day.

“Night time hits are a work of fiction,” she explained.

She also added that most petty thieves are aware of common hiding spots for valuables, including inside books and in underwear drawers.

Instead, she recommended investing in a safe as attempting to open them is “too time consuming.”

Two busy Irish roads closed over flood as power issues cause HOUR-long Irish Rail delays amid M50 motorway crash alert

ROAD closures and Irish Rail delays are causing “significant disruptions” for Irish commuters this morning.

And Gardai have issued an alert following a three-vehicle collision on the M50 yesterday.

Posting on social media Gardai revealed roadside testing revealed a driver flagged up a positive result for three different drugs.

The driver was also uninsured and was arrested at the scene.

Gardai said: “Our Roads Policing Unit from Dublin Castle and emergency services were called to attend the scene of a three-vehicle collision on the M50 late yesterday afternoon which involved this car.

“Its driver was uninsured and tested positive for cocaine, opiates and benzos. Very fortunately there were no injuries reported.

“This driver was arrested and a blood sample taken back at the Garda Station – this sample is now subject to further analysis. Its result will determine the next step.”

And separately this morning, congestion on the M50 southbound is causing delays for motorists.

It comes after a crash on the N2 inbound slip to the M50 Southbound held up traffic earlier today.

Posting on social media LiveDrive said: “There is a collision on the N2 inbound slip to the M50 Southbound. Services are dealing with a vehicle in the right lane, while another large vehicle is a few meters further up in the left lane.”

The incident has been cleared in the past hour.

And the M50 is not the only road causing major delays for road users this morning.

In Cork, the City Council have delivered a warning to local motorists over road flooding.

Monaghan Road and Centre Park Road remain closed today after closing last night due to the flooding.

Irish Water are working to resolve the issue.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Cork City Council said: “Please note that Monaghan Road and Centre Park Road are flooded and closed this morning with local access only.

“Irish Water is working to resolve the issue. We thank you for your cooperation.”

IRISH RAIL DISRUPTION

And public transport users are not spared from travel disruptions this morning.

Irish Rail passengers are facing more delays and cancellations due to power outages impacting level crossings.

Rail bosses warned this morning Galway services would be “heavily disrupted” thanks to a power fault in Athenry but have since suspended services completely.

The 7.30am Galway to Heuston train was held in Oranmore, and the 5.45am Heuston to Galway service was held at Woodlawn.

In a new update in the past few minutes they said: “Services remain suspended through Athenry due to power issues with signalling equipment. Staff are working to rectify this matter.”

And Wesport services are facing over 60 minute delays due to a power outage.

Irish Rail warned: “Significant disruptions of up to +60mins to Westport services due to power supply issues at level crossings on the line.”

‘LET PEOPLE GET TO WORK’

Passengers onboard the delayed trains have taken to social media to voice their frustrations at the situation.

Some are struggling to make it to work while others will miss medical appointments.

Customers also report no heat or wifi onboard.

One person wrote: “How do I apply for a refund? I have an appointment with the Dublin Dental hospital that I’m not going to make.”

Another said: “And yet your website is showing that train from galway running on time with no delays. Disgraceful lack of communication to passengers in stations who don’t know what’s going on.”

Another person added: “Get a few buses to craughwell to let people get to work.”

And another queried: “Any update on when we will be leaving Woodlawn? No heating in carriage B, on board Wi-Fi also not working?”
