Bachelor of Nursing (Offered at UFS)
Minimum Requirements:
- APS Score: 30
- English: Level 4 (50%)
- Mathematics: Level 3 (40%) or Maths Literacy: Level 6 (70%)
- Life Sciences: Level 5 (60%) or Physical Sciences
Diploma in General Nursing (R.171)
Matric from 2008 and after:
- Matric Certificate or equivalent
- APS score: 25 and above (excluding Life Orientation)
- English: Level 4 (50–59%)
- Mathematical Literacy: 50–59%
- Life Sciences: 50–59%
Matric before 2008:
- Matriculation Exemption or equivalent
- M-Score: 23 and above (Max 6 subjects)
- English HG: 50% (E symbol) or SG: 60% (D symbol)
- Biology/Physiology HG: 50% or SG: 60%
- Mathematics HG: 40% / SG: 50% / Commercial Maths SG: 50%
Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing (R.169)
Matric from 2008 and after:
- Matric Certificate or equivalent
- APS score: 23 and above
- English, Life Science, Mathematical Literacy: Level 4
- Preference: Computer Literacy and Physical Science
Matric before 2008:
- Matric Certificate or equivalent
- M-Score: 20 and above
- English SG: 50% (D symbol)
- Biology or Physiology
- Preference: Mathematics and Physical Science
Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (R.1497)
Requirements:
- Matric Certificate or equivalent
- Diploma in Nursing (NQF level 6)
- Registered as General Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
