Amazon.ie launches in Ireland with huge perks and big welcome gift for shoppers

A MAJOR website has launched in Ireland today with huge perks for shoppers.

For years Amazon has been a staple for many households, offering almost every product with quick delivery times.

But Ireland has had to use the UK website, as there was not one for us.

Now, Amazon has launched its Irish site, and shoppers are in for a treat.

Irish shoppers can now shop a wide selection of 200 million products with prices in euro.

Amazon.ie is offering Irish shoppers fast deliveries and easier returns.

And the new Irish website will also allow users to avoid customs charges and currency conversion fees.

One part of the website will also be dedicated to Irish brands.

Both small and larger businesses including Barry’s Tea, Bewley’s and Ella & Jo will be available in the dedicated “Brands of Ireland” section.

This is part of a collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, and will help local businesses reach larger audiences and grow their brands.

Amazon launched a new warehouse and distribution centre in Dublin in 2022, employing 500 people.

They said it was a stepping stone to launching their Ireland-specific website.

And in a huge boost for shoppers, customers can join Prime on Amazon.ie for just €6.99.

With this, you can enjoy free delivery, exclusive deals and shopping events like Prime Day, TV shows, movies, live sport and free games on Prime Gaming.

Those who already have a UK Prime membership can switch to an Irish one, and will have their UK Prime membership cancelled and refunded when they do.

And to make it even better, shoppers can enjoy a 30-day free trial for Amazon.ie Prime, even if you’re switching from a UK membership.

Ireland Country Manager at Amazon, Alison Dunn said: “We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our Fulfilment Centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland”.

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke added: “Amazon.ie provides even more opportunities for Irish businesses to reach global markets and help create domestic jobs.

“Amazon is a significant contributor to the Irish economy and today’s announcement strongly underscores Amazon’s continued commitment to Ireland.”

And Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the new website will give shoppers more choice and better value.

It was launched today by Nicky Byrne and Vogue Williams.
