All of That Build-up for Glorio’s Betrayal in ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ Makes No Sense

Taking immense pride in his work, Dragon Ball stands tall as one of the cornerstones of the anime and manga industry, which even after so many years has been a fan-favorite series among the Otakus. With several additions to the franchise, Dragon Ball DAIMA is the latest addition, which began with a bang as fans were thrilled to watch the final project of Akira Toriyama before he passed away.

The initial episodes were loved by the fandom, as they were overwhelmed with emotions about the legendary mangaka’s demise. However, it did not take them long as the work’s slow pace and mediocrity burst their bubble of how the “Dragon Ball series isn’t bad.”

With the series finale almost here, fans have once again been disappointed as the series made no effort with Glorio’s betrayal, making it look like chasing rainbows.

Dragon Ball DAIMA botched Glorio’s emotional moment

Despite Dragon Ball DAIMA continuing with its flawed run of episodes, it has showcased significant growth from where it began. The work commenced as something that has made the most ardent Akira Toriyama fans walk away, much of it because of how predictive the entire narrative was.

To add to the problems of the show, the show strays away from its core theme, even giving a forced addition to some of its characters. However, Episode 18 set a new benchmark, as it finally featured SSJ4, finally making the most-awaited transformation a part of the canon storyline.

Sadly, Episode 19, titled Betrayal, pulled down every bit of greatness as they made a meaningless attempt at Glorio’s purgation of emotions. In the last episode, upon the summoning of Demon Realm’s Red Porunga, Glorio made the wish to turn the Z-Warriors back to adults, betraying Dr. Arinsu, who wanted to use the mystical orbs for herself.

The scene focused on Glorio and Arinsu, as she questioned his actions, asking him if he had forgotten her act of “kindness” and how she saved him from the Third Demon Realm. While Glorio emphasized how he was grateful for everything that she did, he felt that turning Goku and company was the right thing to do.

The scene featured a cliched development of Glorio, which made little to no sense. It’s primarily because it gave no details that helped the fans to draw a parallel to how Glorio was doubtful until he was taken by surprise by Kakarot’s kindness and childlike innocence.

Dragon Ball fans tried to add meaning behind Glorio’s betrayal

With the majority of the viewers disappointed with how things ended up in the current episode, some fans have tried to save the scene from criticism. These fans came forward on a discussion post on Reddit about the 19th episode of DAIMA, stating how Goku played a major role in Glorio’s character development.

However, the majority of them were thrilled with how Super Saiyan 4 is finally canon and how they now await to see it in Dragon Ball Super. The fans commented,

Nevertheless, DAIMA’s finale will be emotional to every fan because of its release date, as it connects the work with its author, who made everyone’s childhood so memorable.
