A Stranger Things Cinematic Universe… in This Economy? Netflix Boss Drops Bombshell Hint With Final Season on the Horizon

There are some strange things on the horizon and even stranger is that Stranger Things might be getting its own cinematic universe. Although it isn’t confirmed, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos might have dropped some hints about it.

It seems very likely that a larger-than-life cinematic universe might be possible for Netflix’s Stranger Things but things cannot be said for certain. Fans are excited and scared and things might have just become upside-down.

Stranger Things was underrated for a while

Everything is a cinematic universe nowadays. A tradition that started with Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has now evolved into almost all of the major IPs that have become famous.

Netflix’s Stranger Things was an underrated gem for a while until fans discovered this iconic show in 2020. Suddenly, everyone was in awe of this iconic Netflix show and the stakes would get higher and higher with every season.

With 4 seasons to its name, the world is eagerly waiting for its 5th and allegedly final season as the stakes are at the highest and it is a do-or-die situation, after all.

It is costly to have a cinematic universe in these trying times when the world of television, streaming, and theaters are changing. However, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos seemed to hint that Stranger Things might be getting a cinematic universe of its own soon.

Ted Sarandos hinted at a Stranger Things cinematic universe

Well, although the report is quite unconfirmed as his statements could mean multiple things, it seems that the iconic Netflix show might be getting its own cinematic universe after all.

During an interview with Variety, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos talked about the final season of Stranger Things. When he was asked about the future of the show, Sarandos stated that things might just get bigger and better.

So “Stranger Things,” I believe, is a gigantic universe — you see it in novelizations of the characters now. You see it in consumer products.

He further continued,

You see it in the live stage show, the prequel “Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” That’s just playing hugely successfully on the West End, and it’s going to be opening on Broadway.

The above statements could mean two things: Either Stranger Things is getting a cinematic universe of its own OR the legacy of this iconic show will live on through mementos and memorabilia. A cinematic universe would be much better at this point.

A recent update states that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will indeed be released in 2025 without a confirmed date. Meanwhile, all 4 seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
