A MAJOR probe is underway after a man in his 50s was killed after being attacked last night.
The incident happened at a house in Foxdene Drive, Balgaddy, Co Dublin shortly after 11pm.
It is understood the man was stabbed.
He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out today course to establish the full extent of his injuries and cause of death.
Gardai say the local coroner has been informed.
The scene remains sealed off this morning for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
But no arrests have been made yet.
A Garda spokeswoman said: “This investigation is being led by a Senior Investigating Officer at Lucan Garda Station.
“Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Foxdene Drive between 11pm and 12am and observed any activity which drew their attention to come forward.
“Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the vicinity of Foxdene Drive between 11pm and 12am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lucan Garda Station on (01) 6667300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
