A PUPIL sparked a school knife scare forcing cops to be called in after they were caught with a blade.
Officers arrived at Lincluden Primary School in Dumfries at around 9:10am on Wednesday after staff discovered the child in possession of the bladed weapon.
The knife was seized by authorities and parents and carers were alerted to the incident via email, according to reports from STV News.
The letter stated that the safety of staff and pupils on site is of “paramount importance”.
Dumfries and Galloway Council confirmed that a pupil was found in possession of a knife.
A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Council said: “There was an incident at Lincluden Primary School on Wednesday, 12 March, whereby a pupil was found to have brought a knife into school.
“Following this discovery, the knife was removed from the pupil’s possession.
“Police Scotland and the relevant authorities were informed, and the appropriate action has been taken with the pupil involved.
“Nobody was physically injured, and the incident was handled in a timely manner.
“Parents, carers and staff were issued with a message to inform them of the incident and to provide reassurance that the matter has been dealt with effectively and efficiently.”
Police Scotland confirmed that officers had spoken to the child’s guardian and were working alongside the relevant authorities.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 9:10am on Wednesday, 12 March 2025, we received a report of a child in possession of a knife at a school in the Dumfries area.
“Officers have spoken with the child’s guardians and are working with partners in relation to the matter.”
