TEMPERATURES are set to drop to as low as -3C as frost and “crisp sunshine” paves the way for wintry conditions.
St Patrick’s Day weekend is looking to be mostly settled, but it will come with some very cold weather.

Some showery outbreaks of rain will also make an appearance, with St Patrick’s Day itself seeing the worst of it.
Met Eireann bosses have said rain is expected to push over Ireland today, before a clear weekend and a rainy return next week.
Matthew Martin said: “The St Patrick’s Day weekend is going to be mostly settled with a good deal of dry weather but there will be a few light showers about at times.”
Today is looking to see those showers begin to rear their head, with some brighter weather following later in the afternoon.
He said: “For today, there are some showery outbreaks of rain over Ireland, which are continuing to push south at the moment.
“There could be some wintriness in that rain too over high ground but brighter weather with sunshine is now following from the north and that will follow for the rest of the day across much of the country once that rain clears from the south coast later this morning.
“Highest temperatures today between 6C and 9C in moderate to fresh northeast winds.”
Tonight will be a cold one as frost and icy patches hit, and temperatures see a dramatic drop.
Matthew said: “Cold tonight with clear spells. there will be widespread frost along with some icy patches.
“However, some coastal areas will remain frost free tonight, lowest temperatures of between -3C and 3C in light and variable winds with a few mist or fog patches expected to develop.”
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
Tomorrow will start out with more frosty weather, before paving the way for crisp sunshine.
He continued: “It will then be a cold and frosty start tomorrow with any fog patches clearing during the morning to leave lots of crisp sunshine.
“It will turn somewhat cloudier though during the afternoon and evening and the odd light shower cannot be ruled out. highest temperatures for tomorrow with 6C to 9C.”
Sunday is looking to be the best of the days across the weekend, with the most sunshine breaking through.
Matthew said: “Then as we move into Sunday It’s going to be another mostly dry day with a mix of cloud and spells of sunshine.
“Best of the sunshine on Sunday is likely in the east and northeast of the country highest temperatures of 7C to 10C.”
PADDY’S DAY WEATHER
St Patrick’s Day on Monday will see a few showers return but they won’t last long throughout the day.
He said: “Then for the big day itself St Patrick’s Day on Monday, there’ll be a few light showers around but it will be remain dry for most areas.
“More in the way of cloud though than in preceding days with only limited sunny breaks.
“Highest temperatures for St Patrick’s Day of 7C to 10C, but it will feel a little colder than that in a rather brisk easterly wind.”
