A TEENAGE boy has been arrested by police on suspicion of terrorism offences.
Cops today carried out searches at addresses in Perranporth and Redruth in Cornwall in connection with the investigation.
Multiple police vehicles were seen in the area of East Pool Park, Redruth this morning, according to witnesses.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said a 16-year-old boy from Perranporth was arrested on suspicion of suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006. .
He has been remanded in police custody.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South West (CTPSW) have today arrested a young male on suspicion of terrorism offences in the Cornwall area.
“The 16-year-old from Perranporth was arrested on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
“A number of searches are being conducted at addresses within the local area of Perranporth and Redruth in relation to this investigation.
“A young male remains in police custody at this time.”
