Meet the California family who can’t wait for Rangers and San Francisco 49ers takeover deal to be done

AN expat Rangers fan and his San Francisco 49ers-daft son have told of their delight at the Blues’ looming US takeover.

Graeme Price, 52, and 11-year-old Joaquin now hope a deal connecting Rangers with the megabucks American football franchise goes through.

Graeme and Joaquin still follow Rangers and are hoping the American investment goes through sooner rather than later

And Joaquin is no stranger to the atmosphere at Ibrox on matchday after making a trip to Glasgow with his father.

Joaquin said: “I loved travelling to Scotland and seeing my dad’s favourite team.

“It’s so cool that my favourite team and my dad’s are going to be together.”

Medical equipment worker Graeme emigrated to California from East Kilbride in 2003.

The Bears fan, who lives in San Francisco Bay, is excited too, but has some reservations.

He said: “The fear would be losing some traditions, especially if Ibrox was renamed or had sponsorship attached to it, like the ‘Levi’s Experience’.

“But it’s maybe inevitable if we want to compete at a higher level.”

Gers are close to finalising talks with 49ers chief Paraag Marathe and health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh.

It is believed an agreement in principle has been reached and a deal could be sealed by the end of the season.

The talks have sparked a flurry of direct pleas from fans on 49ers’ social media pages.

One posted: “Save us ASAP, we are struggling mentally here.”

Another added: “Buy us, please hurry up.”
