The final question in the game is regarded to be so tough that on average only 1% of the UK population would get it right.

However, viewers were left horrified on Saturday at a contestants response when Lee chatted to them before the start of the show.

Joyce said she was supposed to be officiating at the funeral of her friend’s partner but told her friend to move it back a day.

“My friend’s partner sadly passed away recently and she gave the day’s date as the funeral.

“And I said ‘perhaps not’, so we are doing it tomorrow instead” Joyce explained.

“Wow, I thought the wedding story was bad” replied a shocked Lee as he referred to a previous contestant who was missing her brother’s wedding.

He added: “The pressure on you now after all that not to go out on the 90% question and watch it all go up in smoke.

“That’s a bad choice of words – to watch it all go wrong.”

He then wished her good luck before starting the show with the first question.

However, Joyce was knocked out after she failed to answer the second when contestants had to choose the odd one out.

Lee turned to Joyce and said: “What else were you going today, there was nothing else to do was there.

“Oh hang on you were supposed to be doing a funeral.

“I mean, I don’t want to be harsh but you’ve gone out so early.

“I think you could make it.”

Hardest Quiz Show Questions

Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV’s hardest questions

  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the “worst” question in the show’s history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: “From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?” The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000.
  • The 1% Club – Viewers of Lee Mack’s popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘X’ of January.” It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir’s birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence.
  • The Chase – The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options were – sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots – with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.

Viewers flocked to social media with one stating: “Can you push your fellas funeral off for a day I’m going to be on #the1percentclub.

“I hope she goes out on the first question.”

Another added: “Well she can do the funeral now.”

While a third remarked: “So you’ve got one missing a wedding and one missing a funeral lol.”

The 1% Club airs on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
