Creating a story that has been going on for the past 28 years and is still nowhere near its conclusion can be quite difficult. These difficulties have been faced by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, who has been working on the series for almost half of his life. Among these many difficulties, the biggest one is keeping account of all the characters that have been introduced.

In One Piece’s case, the range goes over 1000, and there are still some characters who were initially introduced with a lot of hype but then faded away into the story. These characters became the biggest frauds of One Piece as they created anticipation among fans but have been missing since their introduction.
However, as the One Piece narrative is still going on, fans are hopeful that Oda might redeem these characters sooner or later. Not only that, but most of these characters are so big that they can bring the greatest twists in the One Piece storyline.
1. Urouge
Although Urouge’s character might not be as big or significant as others, he is still one of the most talked about characters in One Piece. This was because he was a member of the Worst Generation, just like Luffy and Zoro. Plus, he was also from the sky islands which made him even more interesting.
Urouge was first introduced in One Piece chapter 392, which came out in 2009, and since then, he has had only one more appearance in the entire storyline. He is one of the biggest frauds of the series, and there are no other hints or clues that hint that he might make a return.

Hopefully, Eiichiro Oda has planned something for him in the next arc, as leaving a significant character like Urouge behind is not Oda’s style. He might prove to be the biggest underrated character of One Piece.
2. Dracule Mihawk
The strongest swordsman in the One Piece world, Dracule Mihawk, was first introduced in episode 23 of the series, which aired in the year 2000. His extremely powerful persona and the way he defeated Roronoa Zoro made him a fan favorite, and since then, everything he did got so hyped that he became one of the greatest characters of the series.

However, he is one of the biggest frauds in One Piece because despite having a few appearances, not much is known about him. Not only that, he is not even connected to the central storyline till now. Thus, he has disappointed a lot of One Piece fans who have been waiting for his comeback.
But not all hope is lost because Mihawk’s status as the strongest swordsmen in the world indicates that he is eventually going to become a part of the central narrative sooner or later. It is all connected to Zoro’s growth and the time he takes to reach the same level as that of Mihawk in One Piece.
3. Rocks D. Xebec
As One Piece fans know, Rocks D. Xebec was one of the greatest pirates of the old era, and his powers were on a completely different level. From the things heard about him throughout the narrative, it is safe to say that he would have been a menace if he had appeared in the current timeline.

His power is reflected by the fact that both Garp and Roger had to team up together to defeat him. Thus, the legends about him are crazy, and although he is dead, fans still hope to know more about him, especially through the infamous God Valley Incident of One Piece.
He is also one of the One Piece frauds, but his speculated connection to Blackbeard has hinted that he might also make a return (most probably through a flashback) to the storyline.
4. Monkey D. Dragon
Monkey D. Dragon was also one of the few fraud One Piece characters who was introduced in the series long ago but has yet to make a proper appearance in the central storyline. He first appeared in episode 52, which came out in the year 2000, and since then, he has less than 10 proper appearances within the story.
Dragon’s character is quite significant to the One Piece storyline as he is not only the father of the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, but he is also the supreme commander of the Revolutionary Army. The Revolutionary Army has a direct feud with the Celestial Dragons and the World Government of One Piece.

Thus, it is safe to assume that even though Dragon’s character is faded away into the background, with the One Piece storyline entering the final saga, he is destined to enter the central narrative and make a big impact. This impact will most likely bring a great twist to the plot and make it even more thrilling.
5. Imu
The supreme ruler of the World Government, Saint Nerona Imu, might be the most important character in One Piece, aside from Luffy. He has been speculated as the final villain of the story, and thus, his significance in One Piece is something that cannot be overstated.

Imu was first introduced in One Piece episode 885, and since then, his character has made quite a few moves, but he is still one of the biggest frauds, considering his importance. Imu holds all the secrets of the One Piece universe, and thus, he needs to enter the storyline sooner of later.
With One Piece entering the final saga, characters like Imu are fated to appear sooner or later, and once they do, they are going to “turn the One Piece world upside down.” Hopefully, none of them will disappoint and make the story even more thrilling.
