A WOMAN who collected a life-changing cheque for €2,274,988 thought she had won a nice €100,000 – with her husband telling her: “You’ve won a lot more”.
The Kerry clan matched all of the numbers in the Lotto draw that took place on Wednesday, February 19, after purchasing a Quick Pick ticket from Keane’s SuperValu in Killorglin.

While collecting the huge prize of €2,274,988, one family member said: “I was listening to Radio Kerry and heard the Lotto was won in Kerry.
“I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I knew my wife had bought her weekly ticket for the draw.
“When I got home, I asked her if she had checked the tickets yet – she hadn’t.
“So, we got the numbers online and went through the prize breakdown.”
While scanning through the numbers she believed that they had won €100,000 – to which he told her “you’ve won a lot more than €100,000”, after realising they had secured the top prize of €2,274,988.
The family then called an immediate meeting to share the incredible news and celebrated throughout the weekend.
The syndicate spoke about their plans for the winnings – and it included a new kitchen, a holiday, windows, home improvements and more.
And a syndicate of two from Carlow claimed a €1,005,000 prize from the EuroMillions Ireland-Only Raffle on February 14, after purchasing their winning ticket from Mace in Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow.
One of the winners explained: “I was in a different shop, and three people were ahead of me, taking their time buying Lottery tickets.
“I didn’t have the patience to wait! So, I stopped off in Leighlinbridge to pick up a lightbulb and a EuroMillions ticket.
“What a decision that turned out to be!
“We scanned the ticket on the app, and it said, ‘Contact the National Lottery’, so that’s when we knew it must’ve been a winner.”
They celebrated their visit to Lottery HQ by booking into a 5-star hotel.
They added that they are hoping to put their winnings towards looking after their family and loved ones, along with a cruise.
And a Mayo man was there to claim his €108,809 win from the February 19 Lotto draw.
He bought his winning ticket from Casey’s Londis in Balla, Main Street, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
He explained: “I showed my wife the ticket on a busy Friday evening, just after I finished work. She just kept asking me if I was sure, it was a hard one to believe”.
The Mayo man plans to use his winnings for a family holiday this summer.
