NEIP Staff suspension: We employed temporary staff for some departments- Kofi Ofosu Nkansah

Former Chief Executive Officer for NEIP, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has provided some clarity to the HR gap that has led to the suspension of the entire staff.

According to him, when he took over as Chief Executive Officer, there were human Resources gaps that they had to fill.

The reason was that NEIP had to qualify for World Bank Programmes and a lack of certain departments meant they would not qualify.

As a result, he explains that they created a procurement unit where temporary staff were employed and put on allowances.

To him, there was nothing illegal done at the agency as it is being propagated by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“On the NEIP HR issues, nothing illegal was done. When I took over, there were HR gaps we had to fill to qualify us for our World Bank Programmes for eg because there wasn’t even a Procurement Unit.

So we filled those gaps with temporary Staff and put them on Allowances. Allowances are not illegal. You don’t pay SSNIT on Allowances. You only pay PAYE and it was done”.

His explanation come on the back of the decision by the new management to suspend all staff.

A memo spotted by MyNewsGh.com indicated that staff should not return to work after February 25, 2025.

However, staff who are needed will be called upon to resume work.
