The Russo Brothers Have “Strategized” to Avoid the One Thing in Secret Wars and Doomsday That Kevin Feige Absolutely Hates Keeps Happening in MCU

The Russo Brothers know exactly what makes Kevin Feige tick, and they’re making sure Secret Wars and Doomsday don’t fall into the same trap. While the MCU’s been guilty of a few storytelling misfires, Feige has one particular pet peeve that keeps creeping into major projects.

The Russos have “strategized” a way around it, though. If their plan works, this could be the game-changer the MCU desperately needs.

The Russo brothers’ master plan: Locking down Secret Wars and Doomsday to avoid Kevin Feige’s worst nightmare

The Russo Brothers are making damn sure Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday don’t become another leaky ship. They’ve “strategized” to avoid the one thing Kevin Feige absolutely hates: spoilers slipping out before time.

With Secret Wars concept art recently leaking on ArtStation (before Feige went full Thanos and snapped the account out of existence), the Marvel boss isn’t taking any chances. Neither are the Russos.

Joe Russo said, confirming they’re taking extra steps to prevent on-set leaks during an interview with Collider:

We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that…We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent…The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind, as well.

Filming kicks off in April, with the brothers tackling both movies back-to-back. Joe revealed (via GamesRadar),

We roll cameras sometime in April, and that’s on the first one, and then the second one will be shortly behind that.

Each film was expected to shoot for about six months. As for runtimes? They’re eerily familiar. Doomsday is shaping up to be around two and a half hours, while Secret Wars could stretch to three.

Much like how Infinity War clocked in at 2 hours 28 minutes, while Endgame pushed past the three-hour mark.

But keeping things under wraps was just as crucial as the runtime. Clearly, Marvel’s making sure fans get surprises in the theater — not from a random leak online.

Rob Liefeld calls for Kevin Feige to quit Marvel

Rob Liefeld thinks it’s time for Kevin Feige to “get off the mound.” The Deadpool creator publicly called for Feige to quit Marvel, citing the studio’s recent struggles — including Captain America: Brave New World‘s lackluster box office.

Liefeld took to X, sharing Cap 4‘s dwindling second-weekend numbers while taking aim at Feige’s leadership. This wasn’t his first jab.

Earlier, he announced he was done working with Marvel after being snubbed at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere. Liefeld had written in an e-mail (per Geekfeed):

Marvel’s treatment of creators has never been their strength… Without the worlds, the characters and the concepts that we create — and in this specific case, the world of Deadpool — there are no films to shoot. No blockbusters to distribute. …

I am not the easy button at Staples. I am the human imagination behind it all… Comic book creators cannot continue to be relegated as afterthoughts. This is easy to address. Unless I reach out to address it, it will never manifest.

His frustration wasn’t unique. Fans have long criticized Marvel’s treatment of creators, including Winter Soldier co-creator Ed Brubaker and Hawkeye artist Matt Fraction.

As for Feige? His Marvel reign isn’t over yet, but after Avengers: Secret Wars, maybe it’s time for fresh blood at the top.

Avengers: Doomsday set to release in theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Secret Wars nearly one year later on May 7, 2027.
