Time and again Dragon Ball has proved that Goku will always be the mightiest force to exist in the franchise. Dragon Ball DAIMA does not stray from this rule either as Vegeta has been sidelined once again. At this point, it is no longer surprising to see Goku take over whenever Vegeta is failing.
While it might look like fighting is everything to Vegeta, he is not like Goku. He loves fighting, but there are other things that he loves more than life itself. And that is the reason he does not have to be pressed to surpass Goku.
Vegeta can’t surpass Goku, and Dragon Ball DAIMA makes no exceptions

In episode 19 of Dragon Ball DAIMA, Goku, Vegeta, and the others have regained their adult forms/natural states. Vegeta is pumped after regaining his powers and aims to destroy Gomah, even if he has to die trying. He even warns that he won’t spare anyone who interferes in the battle.
However, as the fight dragged on, Vegeta could not get the best of Gomah. Not even Super Saiyan 4 could help Vegeta’s case. That is when Goku had to step in, as always, to save the day. Immediately, his aura and strength proved to be more fearsome than Vegeta, and this is a trend that has been followed ever since the inception of Vegeta as Goku’s ally.
No matter what series it is, Dragon Ball Z, GT, or Super, Goku always gets the upper hand over Vegeta. Fans are well aware of it, and many wish that Toriyama had given Vegeta at least one chance to shine. Shoving the character away just to make space for Goku seems blatantly disrespectful of the Saiyan’s strength. But, one also needs to realize that Vegeta has something else going for him that almost makes up for not matching Kakarot’s strength.
Vegeta might never be stronger than Goku, and he doesn’t have to be
Throughout the decades of Dragon Ball, Vegeta has never been able to exert his dominance over Goku. He always seems to lag just two steps behind the protagonist. However, episode 19 of Dragon Ball DAIMA highlighted the fact that Vegeta values something else over his battle prowess and ego.
Just as Vegeta refused to back down while fighting Gomah, Bulma volunteered to call him back. She very simply threatened him that if he didn’t let others fight, she would stop taking baths with him. This threat might seem simple, but the fact that Vegeta was shaken to his core and returned immediately like a tamed puppy proves its effectiveness.
Vegeta’s love for Bulma and their relationship has always been hinted at in Dragon Ball. Vegeta has chosen Bulma over the world and himself several times in the franchise. During Dragon Ball Super‘s Tournament of Power arc, Vegeta’s motivation was to protect Bulma and his children rather than to save the whole universe. During the Majin Buu arc, Vegeta lets Bobbidi possess him, but as he realizes that his family is in danger, he gets ready to sacrifice himself to protect the ones he loves.

In Dragon Ball Super, Bulma is slapped by Beerus and is knocked unconscious. To his credit, Vegeta shows no shred of hesitation and immediately attacks the God of Destruction, leading to an extraordinary fight. Both Vegeta and Bulma share an intimate and loving relationship, something that seems to be lacking in Goku’s life.
Goku’s married life is rarely ever mentioned in Dragon Ball. Additionally, he has been an absent father to his children, only ever appearing in time to save the universe. He seems to be obsessed with making himself stronger, barely having time for intimacy with his wife. (Making him the ideal employee for any black company.) In fact, he once confessed that he had never kissed Chi Chi despite being married and having children.

So while Vegeta is lacking just a tad bit in the strength department, he has a loving wife and family. And he devotes himself to his loved ones wholeheartedly, instead of spending all the time in the world training and fighting.
Dragon Ball DAIMA is available to stream on Netflix.
